So I'm looking over at Kotaku today and what do I find:

http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/fourteen-mi...ogos-313152.php

Originally coming from:

Get this:

The Sega Logo Project Game List -
http://infinitecontinues.gametrailers.com/...wblog&id=180042

Funny, I remember doing something like this, what, two years ago?

The fact that he didn't give me *any* credit for that shit is one thing, but to even go so far as to call it *the exact same thing*!? Jeez...

His email to me(you'll love this):

"InfiniteContinues said: I am sorry that you think I ripped you off. I did a lot of capturing for this video myself personally and came up with the name in early development. They do sound similar, yours being "Special Sega Projects" and mine being "The Sega Logo Project"

I put a lot of time putting this together and am very satisfied with the results as I am sure you did with yours.

Again I apologize if you think I ripped you off, I assure you I did not.

Please respond with your thoughts.

Thank you for your time.

- ∞Mike"

{from Press The Buttons}
* WhipAssGaming has a fascinating little gallery of the two dozen or so variations of the Sega logo, everything from the blood red logo of Chakan: The Forever Man to the rotating and scaling symbol of Sonic 3D Blast to Earthworm Jim flexing in front of the aforementioned emblem. There's four pages of nostalgia in the form of animated GIFs and Quicktime sound clips plus a fifth page of Sega 32X logos for good measure. Go ahead and do the Sega scream or sing the Sega jingle; you know it's what you want to do.

{from Game Set Watch}
* Over at the Excess Gaming website, they've got a pretty amazing collection of Sega logo anims from Genesis titles - all painstakingly captured into animated GIF form, presumably by running an emulator over the original ROMs. Interestingly, the above linked page is just 'Vol.3' of a gigantic set all housed in the Special Sega Projects section, and some of our favorite anims include the obvious (yay, Earthworm Jim 2), the extremely obvious (Vectorman, and the crazed (uhh, a death metal zipper for Devilish?)

{from Error Macro}
* Scientists have determined this is five kinds of awesome: Special Sega Projects, a collection of animated gifs of all the various ways the Sega logo appeared in the 16-bit days, as well as gifs of all the Eternal Champions and Mortal Kombat series fatalities.

{from Armchair Arcade}
* A site called Whip Ass Gaming is running a very neat collection of Sega Genesis, Master System, and GameGear games that had a bit of fun with Sega's logo. This is obviously a labor of love, but it is interesting to think how developers can get creative with a company's logo. There are so many here that it's hard to pick a favorite, but if you're a Sega fan you're going to lose a few hours here. It's really nice to see websites going beyond screenshots and doing these "screenplays." The only thing missing here is the sound!

{from insert credit}
* Frank showed me this just a bit ago, a site chock full of animated gifs of old sega genesis logos. Check the bottom of the page for links to several more archive pages, even a bunch of 32X ones. Apparently the site was featured on G4 at some point, so there you go. Can't say I'd heard of whipass gaming before, but it's not a bad website. It reminds me of the mid-90s, when the internet was young, and anyone who could slap some html onto a page seemed an authority to me. Memories!

{from Kotaku}
* GameSetWatch points to this amazingly amazing collection of Genesis-era Sega logos, captured into GIF animation by running an emulator over the original ROMs. There are also logos from Game Gear, Sega CD and Master System. Check out the extra umph put into these games.

Sega Logo Fun on G4TV, on YouTube:

With that said, you can imagine that I don't believe anything you're saying.

The next batch...

His:

"After reviewing the links you put up I see that you were featured on G4. Congrats! I still dont see a video of the logos all together. If there is please point me in the right direction. At this point seeing the difference in the projects and the fact that it is not named exactly the same as yours I would like to ask that you please remove the last two lines of your comment from my video and blog. I think your project is very nice and would be happy for you to have the links pointing to both the site and the G4 tv spot.

Again I did work really hard on my video and am very proud of it.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

- ∞Mike"

Mine:

"So, because you called it "The Sega Logo Project" and 2 years earlier I called it "The Sega Logo Fun Project", that there's some difference? Give me a break...

...and no, I'm not removing any comments. It's disgraceful that you copied it to the extent you did, and didn't bother giving me any credit. Why don't we just let your viewers hit the two links I provided and allow them to make up their minds? I think you know how it's going to go.

I'm sorry it's impossible to believe that you, somehow, didn't know mine existed and just happened to name your almost the exact same thing, minus *one* word."

I'm gonna sing the DOOM Song.
I'd say he definitly coppied you in the idea, the name, and damn near all of the same games. The difference is that your's are GIFs and his are videos. But still, he should at least credit you for the idea. The two are just way too simmilar for it not to be a straight up copycat job. But unfortunatly (sp?) I think alot of people on GameTrailers will side with him. I mean just look at you sig.

Virtually every game. There's one that he put up there that's not even a Sega logo(it just simply reads "...but wait, there's more!". That's the only one I didn't have...and I don't have it because it's *not a fucking Sega logo*. ;)

Now that is true, and it's about the only difference.

When he asked me to remove my comments, it was confirmation that he was lying about never hearing about it. I cracked up when I read it....

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong here, I didn't post those links there for everyone to side with me, I did it so that everyone would see what I did two years ago and make up their minds on their own.

They *really* hate me over at GameTrailers, it's pretty amusing. From making fun of the idiot who likes "more sharper graphics" to constantly bashing the site in my "GamePad Blog", I haven't made a lot of friends. ;) That's ok though, because the one and only reason my videos are even there, can you guess it? Free advertising. I've gotten a *shitload* of hits and exposure for the site due to my videos being up at Divx Stage 6, YouTube and now GameTrailers. All free...

There has been some satisfaction in all of this:

Kotaku, though I'm not real thrilled with the way they handled it, replied to my request for credit by adding "Update: Here's the static version." to the bottom of the video's description.

GameTrailers has not removed any of my comments containing links to both the original idea/section as well as the YouTube video of it being on G4TV *two years* ago.

What has all this amounted to?

600 more hits per day since the two above things have been enacted.

This means 600 people, who have watched his video, have hit my site afterwards to see where it originally originated.

That makes me happy. ;)
