Some people try their entire internet lives to get to the top of Google's search pages...how in the fuck I managed it on this one is beyond me.

I'm gonna sing the DOOM Song.
I remember when I found this site on page 10 when I was looking for Eternal Champion fatalities. It really moved up from there.

That's impressive man. For about a month I could get some of my comparisons to appear on google, but after that it was just over. Maybe I should take a closer look at that credits page of yours and see what I can incorporate.

Oh, I don't know about that...this post was mostly just tongue-in-cheek. Like I said, it's just odd that something off *my* site could manage to be the first item to come up in a Google....people try their entire lives to get there.

This is pretty much why I don't really care about Google search ratings. Like you, I don't just blindly click on the first thing that comes up, but rather I look around through the results and see what I deem "the best".

Well, like I said, I don't really care about Google search ratings and whatnot, and about the only thing I've really done, on my dad's suggestion, was add meta tags at the top of most pages. Honestly, I don't think it even remotely matters anymore...maybe a few years ago, before Google, search engines would crawl around looking for meta tags, but nowadays it seems like they just simply look through the actual text on a page, and give you results based on that.

From what I've seen, the only reason WAG shows up on Google is because I've posted all over the net. Forums, usenet, etc. WAG is always my sig. Basically, the more *you're* on the net, the better chance your site has of coming up. Google goes by sheer text. One thing that I know is killing Game Pilgrimage on Google searches are these bullshit "price comparison" sites. I'm not sure how one would beat those. :(

I know one thing that definitely brings a lot of traffic is the House of Renders. It basically scoops them in, and then they look around from there. People love pictures, and they love galleries. Perhaps you could do some sort of large gallery of game pics, to help draw in a crowd?

WAG also sees a lot of hits from weird stuff, like just something I put in a quick review. Here's an example:

I saw this in my referrers list: "Double Smash, Maximum Carnage"
http://www.google.com/search?q=double+smas...lient=firefox-a

See, just that one piece in my quick review for the game has put has not only brought someone to WAG, but is also the third thing listed in Google under that term. Note: Google is weird. If I do this search more than once, all of the sudden WAG moves down to sixth place. I noticed this when seeing the EC:CftDS query that started this thread. It was the first, then after doing the search twice it showed up under two YouTube videos. Hit refresh, it's back to number one. Odd.

Here's some more(if interested):

http://s3.thecounter.com/2478889

Go there(I've made the site's stats public for now) and click on "Last 30 Referrers". Here you'll find pages that have sent people to WAG. You can also click on "Search Engine" to see the last ten queries that brought up the site.

Check this out:

That thief who basically used the Sega Logo Fun! Project as his map to get videos of all of the logos, looks like he's dropped to number 2. He was #1 for the longest time when you'd type in "Sega Logo" in to Google. Pissed me off to no end. I ought to hit Game Trailers and shove this link up his ass...;)
