Haven't bought these yet since these are demos, but I might. Valkyria Chronicles: A Ps3 exclusive SRPG made by Sega that kicks ass? The world is indeed coming to an end isn't it? Mirror's Edge: I still can't belive EA's responsible for this, the demo was amazing, but a little too short. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift: Didn't like this one at all. I've never seen such a large amount of ass exclusives until the PS3... Lego Batman: I think I'm tired of the Lego stuff, I didn't have that much fun with this one. Has anyone played the demos of Tomb Raider Underworld and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts yet? They went on Live right after I went Silver so they won't let me play them yet. |

Whoa, what just happened? Actually... yeah this helps. Thanks... Bel? Alone in the Dark PS3 Version: I wouldn't have brought this one up, but there seems to be some changes to this version because it doesn't suck anymore like on the X360 version. I can control the camera, Edward can run now, enemies don't seem to attack you while you're working with inventory anymore (actually I need to test this a little more to confirm this) and it handles slightly better. Seems like it's worth a rental now. |

Actually look at this - Apparently it's due to a patch that all versions get: http://ps3.qj.net/PS3-Alone-in-the-Dark-much-better-Xbox-360-version-coming-out-of-the-dark-with-patch/pg/49/aid/123313 I guess the 360 demo doesn't let you use the patch though. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=220266 Like you, I wouldn't mind renting it now. I apologize in advance. Tomb Raider: Underworld: WHO THE FUCKING FUCK THOUGHT IT WAS A FUCKING GOOD IDEA TO BRING THE FUCK BACK THE MOTHERFUCKING SPIDERS, WHICH NOW FUCKING JUMP AROUND LIKE SOME FUCKING MEXICAN JUMPING BEANS!? FUCK!!! >.< Oh and the controls are sluggish again which make combat and exploration a pain again. Camera stinks too. Pass. Edited by DarcSeven, Nov 4 2008, 04:53 PM.

I played that "Mirror's Edge" demo today. Though I felt the training part of it was entirely too strict, the game itself was really good. I will probably wait to see if it shows up on the PC, but if it doesn't I'd *definitely* get it. That and The Darkness...man that's good stuff. Waited for it to show on the PC(like Riddick did), but it doesn't look like it's coming. Will pick it up cheap at some point down the line. For any of the Riddick fans out there, give The Darkness a shot...it's a *lot* like Riddick...and just as good. Bel |

I didn't have an issue with the spider(just hit "Y" to kick, takes care of them easily enough), but the dumb-ass jumping puzzles just wore me out to no end. I must have died 10 to 15 times before finally giving up. I cannot believe they brought that BS back...especially after it was wonderfully absent in the much better TR: Legend. There are some things to like about it though: Music seems to be playing all the time...such an improvement over the 2 and a half minute soundtrack of TRs past. I liked how she would push the foliage away from her face...that was a really nice touch, and something that I think virtually every developer in the world has missed up until this point. The graphics...my God, the graphics. It's gotta be one of the most visually impressive games I've ever encountered. I swear, it looks real sometimes. Here's the hoping that all the nastiness of the demo is contained within just that one area the demo allows you to play... Bel |

Killing them is easy in this game, not spazzing out in real life by the mere sight of them is the problem. :( You're right about the graphics though, they're really nice. |

I loved TR: Legend. Anniversary is decent as well, but it's more jump heavy, so it loses points. |

I could forgive the jumping in Anniversary, as it's a remake of the jump-puzzle-heavy TR1...but for Underworld to go back to that formula(again, in the demo level at least) was just sickening. Like you, I loved TR: Legend, they just did such a wonderful job with it. I am almost considering getting the 360 version...but man the original Xbox version is good...and gorgeous. It's one of those games that, while playing, you can't imagine how it could look any better on another system, yet when you see the 360 version, it does(by a lot). Bel |

I tried the demo out for Underworld last night. I was shocked at how many random ledges I had to guess I had to jump to in the first five minutes. That's not good level design, I doubt I'll even finish the demo much less play the game proper. |

Left 4 Dead: I'll need to play this one with you guys to get the most out of this one. It's four survivors with a lot of ammo against an army of zombies. I'll use a free trial if anyone wants to play. |

Does the demo allow for co-op play online? If so, I have it, I just haven't activated my last month trial. I'll try the demo first before I do anything...I have a feeling I am going to go running and screaming to the PC so I can play it with the mouse/keyboard. Bel |

I think there is online co-op for this demo. If I had a computer that could run it (Fuck you, Vista and shitty monitor!), I would probably play it on PC as well. |

Yeah, there is, I checked. I can't play it, due to not having a Gold account, but online play is available for the demo.
You got that right. If you bought your PC from Dell, or someplace like that, if you contact them they'll actually send you a copy of XP to replace Shitsta. I would recommend doing this.
Yeah, I'll definitely be getting the PC version at some point down the line. That pretty much cuts my co-op options down to LoneCrusader, and possibly Wang. Bel |

I finally played a demo of DiRT (I had been eyeing the game ever since I saw it was from codemasters), as well as Sega Rally Revo. I'm extremely impressed with the DiRT demo, and sorely disappointed with the Sega Rally Revo demo. DiRT has extremely tight controls and a good bit of variety (three different types of races in the demo alone), whereas Sega Rally Revo's controls were incredibly loose (even looser than that slut everyone knew in high school) and it seems to be pure rally. Was it maybe just the cars Sega picked for the demo? Does anyone know if the real game has any tighter control? I want to get SRR, but if it's going to be a slide and fishtail fest, I might pass on it. |

I didn't care for either...but really disliked SRR...
I agree, to me it feels like it controls as badly as SR2 did. Scott seems to really enjoy it though, so he may chime in with some thoughts. You can usually find it for $10 at Best Buy, if you change your mind... Bel |

I've pretty well posted everything I have to say about Sega Rally Revo on the website. I can say that SR2's flaw was that it's slide physics were just wrong. You could do donuts at five mph in SR2, whereas in SR and SRR you actually have to be moving fast enough, be on the right surface type, etc. http://www.gamepilgrimage.com/SegaRallyRevo.htm |

tried the Commando 3 demo... it's nowhere near as good as Commando or Mercs. 3 player co-op is tempting though. also I may get Bionic Commando rearmed - the demo was quite entertaining. |

I liked it...though I will admit there's very little "Commando" about it.
Be careful. The demo is not even remotely representative of the full game, or it's insane difficulty. Quite honestly, I wish I would have waited until it was $5 to get it. $10 is just too much to have my ass handed to me on such a consistent basis. I am thinking about starting over on "easy" to see if that raises the "fun" bar and lowers the "fuck, I can't sell this game because it's an XBLA title" bar. Bel |

i liked the commando 3 demo also... but it just seems more smash tv than commando. And at $10, I will definitely be holding off. |
