Got the 360 hooked up late last night, and despite the 14.GB drive fucking me up the ass with its bullshit, meager storage I did manage to grab and play quite a few demos: Mini Ninjas(360 demo) - You know, I'll admit, I did not think I would like this game at all...in fact, I kind of wondered why this Wii-looking title even showed up on the 360. Man, I was *completely* wrong. Not only is it an absolutely wonderful alternative to Ninja Gaiden, but the graphics are awesome! The videos don't do this one justice at all. It's hard to describe just how great this title is...I have played through the demo and I can't make myself delete it! This is another one where I'll keep the demo, and keep playing it, until I get the game. Highly recommended. Il2 Sturgis...or something like that(360 demo) - Some WW2 flight sim. Looks great, but I just can't stand sims. I did manage to play this one for longer than most sims though, so maybe there's something to it. Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 2(360 demo) - Good stuff. It really grows on you, once you get used to the slower pace of the game. I notice that it uses the Nvidia Phys-X engine, so I'm wondering if it runs any better on the PS3 due to that...I'll bet it does. Now that this, and part 1 are available on disc for the 360, I'll be picking it up. Invincible Tiger(360 demo) - Wow, I haven't wanted an XBLA title this badly in a long while. Man, it was just so much fun! That whole 70s thing they had going on adds to the playful feel of the game. Though I hate getting burned on shitty XBLA titles that put forth a great demo, then suck ass after that...I think this one may be solid all the way through. Call of Juarez 2(PC demo) - Like part 1, I really enjoyed it. Not too many Westerns in the FPS world, so it's important to give most of them a shot. Like Dead Man's Hand, I think this one is a winner. Trine(PC Demo) - Downloaded it but haven't given it a shot. If you haven't seen this one yet...fuck, get your ass in gear and go take a look! Coming to Xbox 360 courtesy of Atlus...at some point. http://trine-thegame.com/site/ Want to try this "Twin Sector" demo...but man, 3.5 gig download and I don't know that I can run it! Argh! http://store.steampowered.com/app/27900/ Bel |

Tried the Madballs demo for PC(tried the 360 version before I moved) and I don't know which I like more. The control, though dual stick on the 360, I can somehow handle...but the mouse/keyboard config works wonderfully as well. It's cheaper on PC, that's for sure...and will just get cheaper the longer it's out. Runs with everything on "High" settings on my desktop, so I'd imagine it'd be the same way on my HTPC. Though the problem of not being able to sell it appears for both versions, I'd imagine I may end up getting the PC version just due to the lower pricing(hell, I could still use a 360 controller to play it, if I wanted to). ;) Wonder if this is coming out in a retail boxed version as well... Anyway, anyone else try it out? It's pretty good, I really enjoy it. I actually used to have a few of those Madballs back in the day...Occulous I remember specifically. Bel |

Played the demos for Transformers: Rise of the Fallen, Darkest of Days and Wet yesterday, all on 360. I liked TF, I thought that was pretty hip...wouldn't mind picking it up down the line. Darkest of Days was pretty good too, wish either one of my PCs could run it properly. Wet was...alright. Seems too over the top...too much. I mean, sure, Enter the Matrix and Max Payne had the slow motion thing going...but even they held it back to a (somewhat)believable level. Bel |

I enjoyed the Transformers demo as well. Even the multiplayer was enjoyable. I haven't tried Darkest of Days yet, but it sound like it has a cool concept. |

Warriors Street Brawl (XBLA): Holy shit! This game was total fucking garbage! Now these are bad graphics. I can't see shit, so I can't do shit. I need to dip my eyes in bleach now. >.< Brutal Legend: Ahh... much better. It's gameplay isn't incredible, but it's style and subject matter do make up for it. So it is indeed, a Tim Schaffer game. Forza Motorsport 3 and Need for Speed Shift: Not bad actually. I never spun out stupidly like I usually do with this genre. Good handling means that I can still like the game even though it's not my type. I wonder if Gran Turismo will do the same. Edited by DarcSeven, Oct 9 2009, 04:09 PM.

Dragon Ball Raging Blast (PS3): Oh, wow, this is actually quite nice. It's fast and fluid unlike it's predecessors on the PS2. I'm not even that much of a fan anymore, but it played so nice that I might add this to the long-ass list of games I want. Good Stuff. :) |

I played one of the DBZ games on the 360...and I've gotta say, I really enjoyed it. From the wild really-fast-running/flying bits to the one on one combat...I wouldn't mind picking it up at some point. Problem is, there's so many of them...not sure which I played. :( Bel |

I think it was Dragonball Z Burst Limit since that's the only one I can think of besides Raging Blast. It was pretty good, I think it would be a good purchase when it's cheap. |

Speaking of demos: Capcom has released a benchmark demo for PC RE5, just like they did for PC SFIV. Going to grab and try to run it...just for shits and giggles. Bel |

Heavy Rain (PS3): I liked this one despite the weird-hold-R2-to-walk deal. The QTE's were kind of cool and I liked how the discussions were handled. I wish the voice acting was better though. I can't tell that they aren't native english speakers and it shows. I haven't played an adventure game in a while so I might get this one when it drops in price. I decided it would be a reduced price buy when I learned of the many different scenarios you can get into. Dante's Inferno: It's a God of War clone. So it's fun, but unoriginal. God of War III: Speaking of which, it's funny but I'm not hyped up to buy this one when it comes out. I think that that's a good thing. Playing through GOWII again is pretty satisfying anyway. That and its combat can't hold a candle to Bayonetta so maybe I'm just spoiled now. ;) Bad Company 2 and AVP were multiplayer demos so fuck them. I might give them a rent later though. |

Yakuza 3 (PS3): Oh hell yes! I getting this one for sure. I the combat and camera have been improved significantly. It's all good stuff. My only complaint is the text boxes. But that's not much of a problem. Day one buy, baby! Sonic All-Star... or is it Sega and Banjo Kazooie All-Star racers... or is it racing- oh fuck it. (X360): Ugh what is going on with the framerate. My God, Mario Kart is faster than this game. I guess I don't have any problems past that, but I just don't know about this one. Edit: Huh. Turns out the PS3 version is a little smoother. I wonder if that's why they put B-K in the X360 version. The announcer needs to die in both versions though. Anyway, I had more fun with this one. But I still don't know if I'll ever own it. I don't own Mario Kart Wii either. Edited by DarcSeven, Feb 19 2010, 04:14 PM.

Just got around to trying Sega Racing...I've gotta say, I'm really enjoying it. Like you, I noticed the framerate issues...it's mostly when the blur comes in to use(when hitting speed pads and whatnot). The good new is that it came out on PC as well, so though I'll probably rent it on the 360 right now, I'll eventually end up buying it on PC. There I can either just turn off the blur, or maybe the video card I'll be using can handle it(who knows). I can still play it on the HDTV, with a 360 controller, which will be nice. About the only thing I'm not really liking is the lack of variety when it comes to the track themes. Seems like we get 4 or 5 different themes(Sonic, HotD, Amigo, JSRF, Billy) and that's it...where are the Nights, Alex Kidd, Golden Axe, etc. tracks? The intro movie has me interested in seeing some of the other racers...especially the Virtua Fighter team. Wild stuff. Who is the announcer? He keeps talking about how he came out of retirement to do this. Is he supposed to be from some Sega game? Have played through that one track about 6 times now and the graphics are just incredible. Even with the slowdown, it's just a great presentation. I didn't have any issues with the sensation of speed, though compared to something like BurnOut I'm sure this does look much slower. Am going to try to rent it tonight...if I can find a Family Video. They let you rent stuff by the day, which is much better than the mandatory $9/5 day thing Blockbuster fucks you on. The good news is, even though the game has gotten high reviews so far...it's a Sega title so it'll be less than $25 in about a month...probably less than $10 for the PC version. Will definitely pick it up for that! Bel Edit: Of course, now I am reading that Sega left out online play for the PC version. Great job, guys. They assume that this will make people buy the more expensive 360/PS3 versions...but it won't. As always, Sega gets what they get because they deserve it. Can't wait to pick up this $60 game for $10 in a month. Thanks Sega! |

and now there's news that some content is being cut from the us release of yakuza 3 citing time constraints to meet the release date... Here's a hint: push back the release date and finish the localization. The few fans you have left will appreciate it. guess that's one more game I won't rush out to buy next month. maybe I'll get it cheap a few months down the line.. and used. Though I promise if Sega DOES delay it in order to release a fully localized version, I'll buy it at full price on day one |

Don't kid yourself, this is Sega we're talking about. They actually had to go *out of their way* to remove online multiplayer with Sonic Allstars on the PC...this is how much they now enjoy alienating themselves from their dwindling fanbase. Man, I thought Sega was pretty mediocre during the last part of the Xbox/PS2 gen but the "work" they've done since then and in to the first part of this new gen, it eclipses anything I could have imagined. It's so heartbreaking to see them falling to pieces like this...I really can't see anything of what they used to be anymore. Sad... Bel |

oh i know. i fully intend on keeping my $60 because I know Sega well enough to understand the one thing they won't do is listen to their remaining fans. That should be the plot of Sonic 4... instead of traversing the world to get the 7 chaos emeralds, Sonic should gather the 7 remaining Sega fans so he can issue a formal apology for what he and Sega have become. |

Confirmed removed stuff: the Japanese history quiz and the hostess bar. Unconfirmed possibly-removed stuff: mahjong, shogi, massage parlor, and the opening theme music. Reportedly 5 trophies worth of content gone - the trophy whores are beside themselves. Apparently, the hostess bar stuff was in the first and second games, and it makes no sense to cut it out now. It also makes no sense to release what is basically a niche title against two (three?) huge, albeit unoriginal, games: FFXIII, God of War III, and Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, in March. Do us all a favor, Sega, and cart your 2-parts-Sopranos, 3-parts-Shenmue concoction back to the lab for another couple of months, and finish the damn thing. Your fans, and stockholders, will thank you. Edited by Sailorneorune, Feb 25 2010, 05:16 AM.

Sonic All Stars Racing is a great game. I'd score it an "A-" on an A to F scale. I can't see why anyone wouldn't love the game. It's superior to any Mario Kart game I've played (I haven't played the original SNES version). The graphics are beautiful on the 360, and the control is super tight. The racing is like Out Run, with the same drifting method. The tracks are really colorful and varied. I especially enjoy the Samba De Amigo stages. The achievements are fun to get and not overly difficult. There are many game modes including Grand Prix (24 tracks), Mission Mode (over 60 missions, like Out Run) and Online Multiplayer. The online play seemed really smooth when I tried it with my GF and a few others. The Time Trial Mode is sweet too -- you can race the Sega Staff Ghost, or select a Ghost from the leaderboard and try to beat their best run. You can also earn Sega Miles and use them to unlock new characters, music, and tracks. The worst I can say about the game is that the framerate dips at times, but it doesn't effect the game at all. Also, there could be more old school characters and tracks from older Sega games. But that's what DLC and sequels are for. As it is, this game is a "must buy". |
