So, we're over at Best Buy today and what do I see....

The LG Super Blu Combo Player. Plays HD DVDs, plays Blu-Rays. Unlike the first model, it allows for FULL playback of HD DVD discs. $199, open box item.

Bought it.

No remote, so sadly I can't do much.

Debating whether to sell it off for a good profit on Craig's List, or be the biggest hypocrite on the planet and keep it...;)

Got my universal remote to work with the machine today...finally got to test it out. HD DVD playback is great! The menus are a little slower, but it's nothing too terrible. DVD upscaling looks good, but not as good as it did through my HD-A2(HD DVD player). Rented Iron Man on Blu-Ray, just to see how it handles that, and it seemed to do alright.

Not sure what to do. HD DVD playback is my main concern, with DVD upscaling secondary, and it passes on both. Blu-Ray playback, apparently has issues with some discs from what I'm reading, but honestly even if I keep the unit I can't see buying any Blu-Ray discs. I might rent one from time to time, but I just can't see paying $30 a movie. I paid around $20 per disc on HD DVD, in support of the format, but I'm not going to get fucked on Blu-Ray when digital downloads take over(and they will). What's kind of wild is that there's talk of a firmware update for this player coming that will allow Netflix streaming...

Anyway, not sure what to do...they seem to be finishing around $300 to $500 on ebay. That's a lot of dough...and a lot of profit.

Oh, get this: LG is offering a free, $75 refund because they have no plans to implement BD Profile 2.0(basically, the internet stuff, that HD DVD had from the beginning). I qualify for this refund. That drops the price of this player down to $125.

Decisions, decisions...
