My buddy Wang just recently sold me a printer...one with a scanner...a nice scanner. So be prepared for non-stop scans, just anything I can get my hands on, I'm scanning in. Will probably get WAG shut down due to all sorts of copyright infringements, but dammit I'm going for it! Will post links once I get some up and running... Bel |

I still need to scan in the EGM's you loaned me, but I'm pretty sure it'll take a year with the speed of my HP scanner. Plus, I never did find a free solution for OCR. I'd love to create a database for advertisements and reviews for each year. |

My scanner came with software that does it...it's called "Sprint ABBYY Fine Reader". It's pretty slick. You can check out the trial if you want: http://www.finereader.com/sprint/public/en/0_0_0_0000/000_0/content.aspx?uniqueid=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000®istered=false&context=196616 The printer I have is a LexMark X5410...it costs Thai $35 at Fry's...so you may want to just look in to getting one(or something like it) as it'll come with that software. The first of the scans: A scan of all of the tapes that Sound{e}scapes is based off of! Granted, nothing fancy...but I had originally intended this to be up there when I launched the section. Bel |

Thanks man, I've downloaded it and will take a look. I really just need something that will scan these reviews and ads into text documents so I can save the text as a txt for later. |
