Just a follow up to the Batman Arkham City fiasco I fell into. I got my game back, and it installed fine, but all of my save files are gone. It seems this is just another aspect of their stupid scheme for making sure nobody can use the game, not even the original owner. This is really disgusting in every possible way.

Hmmmm, is it a Games for Windows Live title? If so, there is a trick to getting those saves to work once you've uninstalled the game...and I think I had to do it for Street Fighter IV, or something, but it can be done. I think that it has to do with your profile, and the fact that it creates a new folder for it each time you reinstall the game(for whatever reason). I think you just move the saves from the old folder in to the new one. Now, it's important to note that that's an XP fix, as far as I know, so it may not work on Windows 7...but do some research as I am almost certain you can fix that.

The problem is, unlike Arkham Asylum and other GfwL games, the uninstaller completely wiped the save files out without warning. I assumed my user/gfwl folder would still have them since it didn't ask whether or not to do a "complete" install, turns out it was the other way around. Apparently I'd need to hack my own install even if I had backed them up, which I didn't because I didn't need to on SFIV(steam) or Arkham Asylum.

This, combined with the completely unadvertised "one PC/Account" policy is seriously going to deter me from buying PC games in the future. There literally is not a single complaint online about this game not being tradeable. I've got better games on my want list to blow $50-60 on than stuff like this.

Hah, I thought the game was unfinished. And since I'm stuck with it I might as well buy the DLC.

The only thing I remembered having to do was move the profile data(from the old one) in to the new one that GFWL created after you reinstalled the game...it's odd that it would just delete it all together.

I saw that they just announced Batman: AC - GotY Ed, with the Harley Quinn, Catwoman and all other DLCs. I think that from here on out, I am just going to pass on buying games within their first 6 months of release, so just I can catch these later versions with everything included(and at a lower price). I don't think it'll be a problem as I rarely buy anything new anyway...

FYI, the PC version comes with the Catwoman DLC no matter what, not that it matters. I honestly wonder how I got mine to work since I got it used from Goozex. But yeah, between this and Darksiders permanently linking to my Steam account, I won't ever be buying new PC games again.

Ran across this when I was looking at that awesome-ass deal for the Batman games on Stream(check the Digital Downloads Sales thread):

Fucking-a, I cannot *believe* how awesome that Phys-X processor is! Breaks my heart that my 9800 GT can't do that, but I *will* upgrade at some point and will probably wait to play Arkham City until then.

My Ati card doesn't do it either, but the differences seems mostly in objects flying around rather than gameplay related stuff. It's a good game and worth picking up for any PC gamer, especially a sandbox gamer. Our cards should cause the game to look significantly better than the 360/PS3 games.

The detective work is a lot more complex than just following the detective mode. Some of the work requires serious thought and exploration. I still prefer the concise scenarios of Arkham Asylum, but I think Arkham City is also a good buy.

I just can't believe how good it looks! I was looking over some other Phys-X demos as well, the Mirror's Edge one was fucking awesome too! After installing and playing a little bit of that "007: Blood Stone" the other night, I can see why people pay $500 for video cards. I mean, that game fucking floors me, and I can't even run it at its top settings! I know it'd be horrible irresponsible, but like LC once said, if I could afford it, I really would get one of those $500 video cards and run everything at stop settings.

I can see why a lot of PC gamers are elitist assholes...I mean, when you see those Phys-X demos and the graphics of Batman: AC on PC and compare it to the console version....even though the console versions, imo, look awesome, the PC version destroys them! Plus, you can get the framerate up to 60fps and, to me, that makes a huge difference in the games quality. I mean, I love Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing on 360, with its 3 extra characters and 1 extra track, but seeing it run at near-60fps on PC is a site to behold. I'm sure Sonic Generations would garner similar praise.

I love my consoles, and I don't ever believe my PC will replace them...but man, there is some awesome gaming to be had on the PC...
