When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not

Glacia...even the name conjures up images of ice and snow and glaciers cutting their way through mountains, inch by slow frozen inch. Glacia is well known as the coldest human Territory in Kaeleer, surpassing even mountainous Askavi. It too is mountainous, filled with dramatic peaks and deep valleys and canyons. Most of the population is focused in towns in various valleys, though there are some logging towns higher up the slopes but no one dwells on the bare peaks above the treeline. Every year some brave mountain climbers test their mettle up on those frozen barren peaks though, and every year a few less return than went out. Glacians are by necessity a hardy lot, and many make a point of pitting themselves against the elements, swimming in icy lakes of snow runoff or stripping off coats on sunny but still-cold days, much to the horror and amazement of visitors from other Territories.

The cold is not the only thing to keep Glacia feeling remote and isolated from the other human Territories. By coincidence of history and geography, Glacia is completely surrounded by closed Territories, requiring traders and visitors to come via the Winds or by rare special dispensation by one of the closed Territories. To the north is the also-frozen Territory of Arceria, home to the powerful and deadly Arcerian cats, many of whom are Kindred, increasing their deadliness tenfold.

To the west are Pandar in the northwest, home of the near-mythical satyrs, and Centauran to the southwest, home to the likewise near-mythical centaurs. Both have closed their borders to most contact with “normal” humans, though rumor has it they still have trade with one another. In some generations they have had cautious trade with Glacia, but not in recent years. While at a similar latitude to Glacia, Pandar and Centauran have markedly more mild climates than Glacia owing both to the moderating influence of their coastal weather patterns and to the fact that they are down out of the high mountains that encompass most of Glacia.

To the south and east of Glacia are yet more Kindred territories. The borders and boundaries between them are little understood by their human neighbors and believed to be fluid based on the strength of packs or groups in a given generation. Some humans even doubt whether the tales of Kindred are entirely real. But certainly many poachers and other trespassers who attempt to enter these lands never return, or come back mad, forever wandering the Twisted Kingdom.

While the nearest human Territories are Dharo, a short hop to the southeast and Little Terreille a little further on, Glacia also maintains substantial trade with Scelt, the only other major human Territory in the Western half of Kaeleer.

Provinces:

Rostova:

Ruler:
Province Ruler: Alodia Malka --- Queen --- Rose ~ Summer Sky (NPC)

Rostova comprises the western end of Glacia. Bordering Pandar and Centauran it is more mild than some parts of Glacia, though it is still mountainous and cold. Many smaller streams and rivers wend their way through this frozen Province, but the Addri River is large enough that it rarely freezes except in deepest winter, and is the lifesblood of trade of larger items such as timber that cannot be easily transported on the Winds. The Addri has its source near the Hystria-Rostova border and wends through Rostova before becoming the river border between Pandar and Centauran and certain merchant organizations still have treaties to float their merchendice down the river to the sea so long as they don't set foot on the shore of either of the closed Territories.

The capitol of Glacia, Kirnov, is a trade city situated on the Addri. Though a city, it is small by the standards of other Territories. The existence of the city has become self-justifying; the population is large enough that trade to the area must continue to support them all. Looking down on the city from defensible heights sits Hart Hall, the castle serving as Territory Seat.

Districts:

Kholm District: Ruler: Rhona Jadwiga --- Queen --- Yellow ~ Tiger Eye (NPC)
Lagan District: Ruler: Ibtis Mihai --- Warlord Prince --- Tiger Eye ~ Rose (NPC)
Prinava District: Ruler: Namoin Zabel --- Queen --- Tiger Eye ~ Rose (NPC)

Hystria:

Ruler:
Province Ruler: Balder Spyridon --- Warlord Prince --- Tiger Eye ~ Purple Dusk (NPC)

To the south lies Hystria, the mildest of the Provinces. Most of Glacia's produce is grown in Hystria, but the growing season is quite short and most years Glacia must import food staples to supplement Hystria's crops. They do also produce a few luxury goods of interest to other Territories such as ice wine.

Districts:

Mikham District: Ruler: Ila Friggia --- Healer Queen --- White ~ Tiger Eye (NPC)
Povori District: Ruler: Emma Eniko --- Queen --- White ~ Rose (NPC)
Rezha District: Ruler: Aniana Etelivi --- Queen --- Broken to Tiger Eye (NPC)

Yentri:

Ruler:
Province Ruler: Jezepan Doralith --- Black Widow Queen --- Rose ~ Opal (NPC)

Yentri lies to the east, northeast really, out of the mountains but still frigid. The land is a tundra climate and only supports scattered villages of people. It is best known for its massive migrations of cariboo in the area. The twice a year migration attracts researchers and tourists alike, though the locals tend to just take it as is and as nothing special. Fur trade is the dominant means of occupation in this Province, and the cariboo, bear, artic fox, grouse, and other such animals are prime candidates for contributing to the pelt trade.

Districts:

Tayga District: Ruler: Mirna Reinne --- Queen --- Tiger Eye ~ Rose (NPC)
Tikhvan District: Ruler: Pichan Femke --- Warlord Prince --- Yellow ~ Tiger Eye (NPC)
Vyska District: Ruler: Elidia Faniaja --- Queen --- Tiger Eye ~ Summer Sky (NPC)

Sarvik:

Ruler:
Province Ruler: Kesania Liman --- Priestess Queen --- White ~ Rose (NPC)

Sarvik is the northernmost and most frozen and hostile of the Provinces. Many of the mountains remain covered in snow and ice even through the height of summer. Near the south of Sarvik lies it's sole major city, Crystal City, which survives largely on tourism from the travelers who come to see the fantastic ice sculptures decorating the whole town and which give it its name. The whole city sparkles and shimmers with unrelieved ice. Some of the buildings are even built out of ice blocks with coolings spells used in warmer summers to prevent them melting.

Most of Sarvik is very sparsely populated though, consisting of small mining and logging downs and dotted with numerous fur trappers. The whole northern edge borders Arceria and poaching occurs over the border...in both directions. Those foolhardy enough to try to hunt in Arceria are as likely as not to find themselves becoming the hunted.

A small town in Sarvik near the Arcerian border holds one of the thirteen Dark Alters, though of course it has been many centuries since it was usable as a Gate since the knowledge had been lost.

Districts:

Kempera District: Ruler: Zegart Powl --- Warlord Prince --- Broken to Tiger Eye (NPC)
Norlinsk Province: Ruler: Makeda Ashay --- Queen --- White ~ Yellow (NPC)
Tovo District: Ruler: Egar Shani --- Warlord Prince --- Yellow ~ Rose (NPC)
