It was often said that breakfast was the most important meal of the day but Kitty would readily dispute this fact if given half the chance. Dessert was what got her juices flowing when it came to getting that early morning start. People would often call her crazy or a fattie for this but she knew that she was right. After all, what were pancakes, waffles, and French toast? Desserts! They were deserts masquerading as a well-balanced breakfast even though they often came soaked in the syrupy delight of maple dressing. Kitty was not going to continue to live in the midst of a breakfast sham. There was no reason in settling for second rate indulgences when she could have the real thing. Once she was able to find a day when she woke up before ten in the morning, she took to the kitchen to craft her delectable desserts. It had taken her a while to come up with what she had wanted to eat but her lack of experience with baked goods and the likelihood that she would just end up burning down the mansion if she tried her hand at anything that was too involved stifled her choices. The genius, to use the term lightly, had selected to go with the tried and true chocolate-chip cookies. There was no way anyone could go against the classics. For added simplicity, Kitty had decided to go with the prepackaged cookie dough that was already divided into small squares that required no real culinary effort. All Kitty had to do was put then on a tray, put them in the oven for about fifteen minutes, and wait for her noms to pop out.

But the actual waiting was throwing her for a loop.

Kitty did not take kindly to waiting. It wasn’t so much as she was impatient but rather that she needed constant stimuli to keep her occupied. It was all MTVs fault, honestly. In all truth there were plenty avenues that could have kept her otherwise occupied but they were all boring and seemed to be too productive for this early in the morning. She instead took refuge in her mp3 player as a means of musical escape from the near infinity it would take the cookies to finish baking. With the white ear-buds resting in her pierced ears, Kitty sat atop a wooden cabinet. Her legs were crossed lazily over one another, but her hands were free to move about to the tunes which danced about in her mind. She slowly began to mouth the words to her current obsession, her voice ringing in softly to beat of the tune. ” Judas! Juda-a-a! Judas! Juda-a-a!” The phaser continued in this fashion, perhaps for too long, as she swayed her hands in tandem to thumping bass funneling through her. Hazel eyes close softly, making her oblivious to those that passed her or those that might have been laughing at her attempt at playing superstar. In all fairness she knew that her moves were more than a little whack but she was getting into it. Haters would inevitably hate and Kitty would have to just have deal. She continued to express herself, miming the words of the Lady herself with no intention of stopping. That was until the sound of the beeping oven resounded over her pop music which prompted a pleasing smile to span her glossed lips. ”Yes! ” She playfully exclaimed while she hopped off the counter, her sandaled feet making a loud thump once she landed on the tiled flooring. Kitty took a few short steps towards the oven and with her slender fingers she gripped the opening of the oven and took a quick inspection of her treats. ”Bagels may be my breakfast virtue but tollhouse is so the demon I cling to.” Her hands reach up blindly to find an oven mite so that she could remove the cookies from the oven and be one step closer to their delicious flavor.

Mark laid out on the couch, a tiny blanket wrapped around his tall frame. The sight was quite commical; the five foot eleven seventeen year old, legs over the arm of the couch and tiny blanket covering only his midriff. Mark had fallen asleep the night before while watching television, and while someone took the liberty to turn off the TV and gave him a blanket, Mark remained on the couch, his headphones wrapped around his neck and loud snores coming from his sleeping body. Able to sleep through anything, the sound coming from the kitchen did nothing to wake him. He continued on, snoring as loud as ever, probably annoying anyone who was awake at this hour. No, the only thing that managed to rouse the seventeen year old this morning was the smell of delicious cookies, wafting into the room via the kitchen.

As Kitty managed to belt out her own remix to Lady Gaga, Mark let out one last loud snort before jerking forward and flailing off the couch. The blanket, long forgotten, wrapped around his waist as he landed on the floor with a loud thud, resulting in the subsequent groan. Blinking a few times to try and find out where he was, Mark put two and two together and realized that he must've fallen asleep the night before while watching television. Sadly enough, it was a common event that his fellow students had grown used to. That's probably how he managed to get the blanket last night in the first place. It wasn't exactly a surprise when Mark fell asleep in the living room. It was almost as if the moment a television turned on, something inside his body automatically shut off and he was out. Untangling the blanket, he picked it up and set it on the edge of the couch, still sitting on the floor with his back leaning against the cushions.

Hearing the last line to her song, Mark's ears perked up, realizing that it was the scent of the aforementioned cookies that awoke him. "Coooooookieeeeeeeeees..." He groaned, a smile appearing on his chiseled features. With the sound of the singing and the smell of the baking, Mark was able to deduce that it was the one and only Kitty Pryde making her mark in the kitchen this morning, and Mark was about to party-crash her baking experience. He quickly stood up, his hair in a beautiful bedhead mess that made it look as though birds had nested into the locks the night before. Stifling a yawn as he entered the room, he gave Kitty a big smile, leaning up against the counter as she searched for the oven mite. "Whatcha cookin', good lookin'?" Mark said, giving her one of his signature grins of flirtation.

Her delicate hands continue to meander a top the wooden countertops in search for an elusive oven mit so that she could be able to safely remove her cookies without burning herself. After about a minute of search, she gives up on blindly searching for the cloth. Kitty then straightened her posture and stood to her full height. Hazel eyes instantly spot the bright green mite that was mere inches outside of her reach. A soft sigh escaped her in mild frustration. Leaning over the still open oven, the heat from which provides an unwanted warmth against her legs. Kitty grabbed the cloth in her hands only to drop it in seemingly the same instant due to the startling voice which called out to her. It took her a moment to dicern who the voice belonged to but after a second of serious thought, she discovered that it was no more than Mark Sheppard, the resident jukebox hero.

She turned her attention toward him, a mass of russet trusses moving in response to her swivel so that they rested calmly against her shoulder. "Cookies, duh! I thought you would have gone deaf before you went blind with all that music you listen. Still blasting JoBros?" Her voice carried the typical playful tone which she used when talking with Mark. The two held an interesting relationship - one that Kitty had trouble defining. The phaser would quickly resume before the musically inclined mutant had a chance to chime in. "But seriously though, this batch is going to be so bangin’." Her lips unfold into a rebellious grin while she places the single oven mitt over her hand. With a slight bend of the knee she then crouched downward to catch sight of her now finished treats. She maintained concentration to avoid burning herself and not to mention looking like a complete spaz once she cried like a little girl from a little burn. She kept her focus and grabbed the end of the metallic tray and used her strength balance it in her grasp. Her tongue then poked through her lips in concentration as she finally placed it on top of the stove with the clang of metal against metal resounding. With her free hand she removed the olive colored mitt and placed it gently back onto the counter.

Kitty then turned her body toward the male, donning a similarly mischievous smirk that she held prior to retrieving her cookies. "Don't get any ideas my little Warbler, these noms are entirely and definitively mine." Chestnut gaze locked onto Dj's lightly colored eyes, holding a serious expression for as long as she could. This proved to be short-lived as she burst out into laughter soon after her statement. "Just messing with you Deej. I just had to get a mental snapshot of your heartbreak. Cruel? Yes. Worth it? Also yes." A lengthy smile overtook her, her eyes falling onto her still cooling cookies. It shouldn't be long until she can sink her teeth into their deliciousness and effectively shatter all breakfast based stereotypes. Having had her fun, she decided to be a bit more amicable toward the other teenager. "What has you up so early? Was it a nightmare?" She asked with serious concern coloring her voice but it would soon fade once her overactive mind began to turn the wheels and cause her to say something she probably shouldn't. Her eyes open wide, feigning shock to the mental image plastered within her brain."Did you see Logan in a speedo too?" She held her concerned countenance, hoping that DJ had not seen such a scaring sight that hopefully had never occurred.
