Zariah walked down the long drive way. It would seem that this place would be called her home for the moment. Zariah sighed as she looked around her, the slight breeze made the moment last forever. A soft smile appeared on Zariah's face as her onyx tresses blew around her, trying to free themselves from the ribbon that is holding them together. Zariah found herself staring at on the rather larger trees that stood in the front grounds. Its overwhelming branches seemed to tower over everything else as well as act a source of protection form the elements. Zariah sighed again as she continued her trek towards the mansion. It loomed over the grounds casting a shadow that seemed to stretch across the whole Salem Center. "This place." She muttered as she reached the stone steps. "This place has been here threw everything," Zariah walked up she took a deep breath and then she knocked on the door. The sound echoed threw out the mansion in an eerie sort of way. "wow" Zariah breathed as she was in total awe. |

A teenaged girl with short curly black tresses stopped walking abruptly, hearing the echoing knock. She pushed an errant strand out of her face and headed toward the source of the noise, since it was close. At the same time, Evelyn wondered who it could possibly be. Teachers or regular students would just walk in, so whoever it was had to be new, she hazarded. Though it was just as likely that she was wrong, she usually was when it came to people. Probably because she spent time with so few. She nearly walked into the doors, since she hadn't been looking where she was going, but she stopped just as her nose brushed the wood. Evvy backed up a few paces, and paused. A quick glance proved that she was semi-presentable, wearing a black t-shirt with the words 'treehugger' scrawled across it in green, loose blue jeans, and her black sneakers. Good enough. She allowed a small smile to curve her lips slightly, and opened to door. Looking up at the taller girl, she tilted her head to one side and greeted her, "Hello..." And there she was stuck. What now? Did she ask her in, or ask her purpose for coming? Did she introduce herself or wait for the other girl? She shook her head before she managed to completely confuse herself, and asked, "You're a new student, aren't you? I'm Evelyn Zenadia... I'm kinda new here, too." |

Zariah was surprised at the girl opened the door, 'that was fast' she thought to herself as she noticed the girls nervous-ness. "Hello," Zariah paused as she had to remember how to pronounce the girls name. "Ev-e-lynn." she said sounding it out carefully. "And yes i am new." Zariah added trying not to sound stupid. Zariah preyed in her head that she was acceptable enough an old back pack hung on her shoulders as she wore zip up sweat shirt and a white wife beater underneath. The wind rustled her chain wallet as it was connected to her belt loop. Zariah's hair also moved along with the wind as if the wind was gliding fingers threw the silky midnight locks of hair. Her crystal clear blue eyes darted every which way. She was nervous, as anyone would be. A new place, new people the consistent judging that human beings had. Zariah was worried for she wasn't the aspect of perfect she was far from it. "Umm" she finally had the courage to speak, her voice strong and confident totally masking how she felt on the inside. "Is there a place where i need to go to be 'accepted' or anything like that. Even like paper work that needs to be filled out?" This is obviously the first time Zariah was in a place like this and she didn't know how it went with new people. |

"Hmm," Evelyn said thoughtfully, thinking back to when she first came to the Institute. It was a somewhat fuzzy memory, she had been slightly sick at the time, but from what Briar had told her there wasn't much of a rush to get everything done at first. "I don't think so, at least not immediately. I think the first thing to do would be to get you a room. So you can have a place to go to, to rest and relax and stuff." She nodded. "Of course you'll have to meet the teachers, learn the lay of the land, and suchlike, but not immediately. Gotta get settled in first." She smiled reassuringly at the other girl. Her strange hazel-green eyes were almost hidden by her long lashes, as she looked up. "How about we get you a room and then get a bite to eat?" |

Zariah was about to protest but thought better to not. It wouldn't be polite. So she nodded to the other girl, showing her approval. She was silently observing the inside of the mansion as the other girl was talking. 'It's so big.' Zariah thought in her mind. Since she was on the road most of her life she never really had a warm place to stay let alone sleep. So the fact that she would have a room, a warm bed something to rely on and not have to run away from was still a shock to her. "After you." She said with a small smile. ((I know not a lot but I have a block)) |

((Writer's block sucks...)) Evvy nodded to the new girl, and backed into the mansion so there would be room for her to follow, holding the door for her at the same time. For a moment she was about to say something about forgetting the other girl's name, then realized that she hadn't introduced herself. Well, no use mentioning it. It'd be somewhat rude, well, probably, Evelyn really didn't know much about manners and suchlike. It was surprising how much like home this place felt to her, since she hardly fit her surroundings. She had never really had a home before, unless one counted the orphanage and she certainly did not. The youth rubbed her strange flower tattoos, trying to get them to stop moving. It didn't itch, but it felt as though it ought to itch, and that was a strange feeling. She waited to see if the other girl was following before she started to head off towards the back of the school to the right where the girl's dorms were. |

Zariah fallowed silently and wonder silently ' I hope this place welcomes me.' It was an after thought something she had constantly, her mind never slept she would stay up for hours just loosing herself in her imaginary world. Her footsteps were silent as she looked like she float behind the women before her. Her eyes were widened with every step as she saw the grand-ness of the mansion before her. "Wow" she whispered. It seemed to have echoed threw out the halls and came back to her. "IS there someone i have to meet?" Zariah asked and then she started again, "Or is there some sort of test about my umm." She paused this subject seemed touchy, talking it openly somewhat scared Zariah greatly. "M..M..my powers." She was barely audible and looked away as the instant she said it. Those word hung in the air like a the smell of a cooking experiment gone wrong. She started to breath heavily her nerves were shot. 'holy shit.' she told herself. 'I fucked up didn't I! |

((Sorry I can't reply often, I have some awful end of the year projects...)) The short girl walked with a long stride but didn't seem to hurry although she did go faster than it seemed that she was going at first glance. Just fast enough to keep a pace with people taller than she was. She didn't seem to notice the other girl's awe of the building, or share it much. It was nice, and much better than she was used to, but what was important to her was nature.. and life. The beauty of a flower, watching the life pulse through it, could hold her enthralled more deeply than any piece of art. The other girl (what was her name, Evvy wondered, feeling somewhat silly to ask it now, she should have asked before) spoke, stuttering slightly, and Evelyn turned and smiled at her reassuringly. "Don't worry. I'm sure, if there is a test, it isn't difficult. I can't even remember coming here, I was that ill, so if there was any tests they couldn't have been that bad. Eh, we'll have to ask my brother or one of the other students, as soon as we find one." She shrugged, offered another smile, and continued toward the dorms. Evelyn lived on the first floor, of course, having a distressing case of Acrophobia. "Don't worry," she said again. "People here are accepting, for the most part." |

Zariah walked down, fallowing the girl before her. She was amazed and in awe of the building but she didn't want to terribly stand out as a the new kid. So she kept herself in check which was a very good quality that she has gotten along the way. "Thanks" Zariah said half heartedly. And she almost giggled when the other women, said that people were more accepting here. What made this place different that the outside world? Yes, there were all mutants in some form or matter. However wouldn't that make it easier for people to judge, ti size up one another like animals do to each other. But isn't that what we all are in essence a pack of animals. So if you put a bunch of super powered animals in a cage, isn't their bound to be conflict. Zariah hung her head as these thoughts flew in and out of her mind. She had a tendency to do that. Think of things that are 'out there' or 'morbid' to the normal idea of things. Zariah straightened up as she arched her neck backwards. "hmm" She said to herself "So this is my new home." Those words 'home' a place with four walls and a roof, or is it something more? Is the home were the heart really is. Or is that another fairy tale that hallmark has fed us? "Well we will just wait and find out now will we." Zariah stopped and looked at the other women. Who in fact was quite ahead of her, those words in which she spoke only hers disappeared into the air around her almost as if they dissolved into the air that swirled around Zariah. |

As they were getting close to the girl's dorms, Evelyn said quietly, as if she too had been thinking about what she had said, "I think the reason people are more accepting here, is because they know what it is like to be judged for being different. Many of us have gone through difficult times before coming here... just because we weren't 'normal'. Maybe that's why we accept each other..." a long speech for a quiet girl, but when someone seems lost or out of place, she can't ignore it. Well, if she notices it she can't ignore it. Otherwise, she would just go on living in her own little world of nature. As beautiful, as grand as the institute was, she couldn't stand remaining inside for more than a few hours at a time. Even to sleep inside, was problematic for her. Claustrophobia, that was the main problem... she wanted the open sky even if it meant standing in the pouring rain or camping in the winter. Quite by accident, she said something that was going along with what Zariah was thinking although she did not know it. "People like to think that they are above nature, but we're just another kind of animal... but the worst traits of humans are unheard of in animals..." she trailed off, thinking that she had once again proved herself to be a strange quirky girl. Perhaps she ought to keep her musings to herself. "Eh. We're almost to the girls dorms... just through here." ~~Le Fini~~ |
