Spartan. That was the one word Alexander could think of as he sat in his dorm. Spartan, nothing on the walls, or even floor for that matter. He had passed by rooms where the wall was blocked out by posters of punk rock bands, or Orlando Bloom. But his was, well Spartan. He was glad he didn't have a roommate yet, more room for him to settle in. But what would he need room for? At his home he was never in his room, except to sleep. here, tho it was the same at home, it felt much colder. It was just him, a bed, a basket, a desk, and a alarm clock, his personal touch. All the comforts of home.

Alexander lay on his bed, his classes didn't start till a few days, he read most of his books on the trip, and his computer wasn't working yet. He sat there, Ipod in hand, listening to " The doors", "people are strange" to be precise. He couldn't agree more.

Kelrian bounced into his room, wondering if any other students had gotten in yet. And yes, he bounced. He was hyper. He had been couped up in his father's house with his three pests of sisters and his stepmother who seemed determined to turn him into a girl or something. If that were true, than she was probably in a conspiracy with his siblings, the girls were completely nuts and seemed to find great amusement in playing makeover while he slept. Which meant that he had to convert the old bombshelter in the backyard into a bedroom to get some peace. Which meant that he was hiding in a bomb shelter most of the summer, when he couldn't get away to go camping or hiking.

The feminine-looking young man looked around his blank room with a bit of distaste. Now he was going to have to start all over. He pushed bright green hair, hair that fell past his waist, out of his eyes. No point in trimming it. It'd grow back in a day, as usual, and probably longer just to irritate him. And then he'd have to re-dye it. Oh, the horrors. He chuckled and tossed a pile of blankets, sheets, comforters, pillows, and plushies onto his bed. His new roommate, whoever it was, better not tease him about his plushies.

He glanced at the rest of his luggage. Really. Home was only a half hour away. What was the big deal? He opened bag after bag and dumped them on the bed. After removing all the hard things -like his camera- and putting them on his desk he jumped into the middle of the pile randomly. Of course, it then all fell down in a little avalanche, right on top of him. "Oof," he mumbled from the bottom of the pile. "That was stupid. And fun. Heh." He tried to squirm out of under the pile and found that he couldn't. Oops.

Alex's eyes shot open, his mind racing to figure out where he was. It took him a full second to remember he was at the institution. he sat up on his bed, rubbing his sleep filled eyes. He glanced at the clock, he had slept for an hour, mainly listening to the doors continue to repeat, until the tracks ran out, or his battery died. Freaking Apple.

Alex then realized why he woke. A green haired boy had just jumped into a pile of clothes, pillows, and...plushies. He quickly bit his lip to prevent a laugh to gush out of him. This boy was almost too much. Alex had met different people all over the world, but no one as blatantly strange as this. But if Alex had learned one thing from his parents profession it is the importance of being tactful, so he tried to conceal his glee. Alex's quick mind assumed that the boy who was emptying his suite case was his roommate. May god help me, Alex thought as he rose from his bed to properly greet the new boy.

"Hello, I'm guessing your my new roommate. I'm Alexander Legard" with this Alex held his hand out to the man for a handshake. " This is my first day here, you?" Alex asked as he looked over the boy again, noticing how long the boys hair actually was.

When the school brochure said he'd meet interesting people he thought it was just a line. He couldn't imagine what was considered strange if this boy was 'interesting.

"I'm Kelrian Alther," Kel replied from under the mess of things, as he climbed out of a tangle of his blankets. Standing up, he shook the other boy's outstretched hand. "I didn't realize that anyone else was in here... you were sleeping weren't you? I woke you up... Sorry. And I guess we are roommates. Unless this is the wrong room. Then I'd have to pack up this again." He looked at the mess on his side of his room and frowned. How did that happen already? Kelri shrugged. "I'll clean that up anyhow, don't worry. How do you like the place so far?"

Realising that he was talking a bit too much, Kelly just smiled and began putting the things back on his bed. Then he gave the mess another puzzled glance. Perhaps he could leave most of it in his bags? It wasn't as if he really needed all that junk. Except his plushies of course. And his ... manga... where was it? He looked around and decided that he'd left it all at home. As well as most of his videogames and suchlike. At least he had his laptop. And his mountain-climbing gear, and his snow board, and a small mountain of clothes... it was a wonder that he had been able to carry it all in... he'd just have to figure out what was where and whether he really need it here... oh forget it, he'd just bring it all here, and make a fort out of it. Or something.

Alexander couldn't help but smile at Kelrian's enthusiasm, and his excitement seemed to wipe the last traces of sleep from his mind. But he still sat on the chair by his desk. "Don't worry about it" Alex said reassuringly "you didn't really wake me up, I was just napping for a bit. I'm pretty sure this is your room, I mean no one else is in here so i don't think it matters. I think i like this place, I've only been here for a few hours but i really like the diversity of the people here, It's more familiar to me than a normal prep school would be. How long have you been here?" Alexander asked as he plugged his Ipod into the computer and watched as the little battery in the corner started to charged. Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad.

"I'm glad you're enjoying it. I came about half way through last semester... my dad made me take it and regular high school, it was absolute torture," he said, quickly adding, "Just because I had to take both, the classes here are fine. Thank goodness he gave up on that, I had no energy whatsoever after all that. Though I think that was the point..." he chuckled quietly. His surplus of energy drove his father up the wall sometimes, with both aggravation and worry, especially since he had absolutely no concern with his own well-being. Why worry about breaking an arm when it'll heal in a few days? Well, aside from the pain... but that's entirely beside the point.

Kelrian had, by now, seperated his things into piles on the floor. Clothing, equipment, books and school things, things that'd go on under or near his desk, his bedding and plushies, and random things. He then shoved everything else into the bags and under the bed, since they didn't really matter. That left the bed clear, so he made it with his things and tossed the plushies on top. They were a weird bunch, from a orange puppy to a fluffy kangaroo...

Alex was slightly amazed at the speed at which the boy sorted a seemingly infinite pile of numerous objects, even if he did stick some under the bed. But Alex's eyes quickly fell on a plushie that had escaped his owners eyes. Lest this plushie give the other plushies ideas about escape, Alex decided to make a example of it. Alex stood up and grabbed the renegade plushie in one deft sweep, and in another motion tossed it onto Kelrian's bed.

As he did this Alex still talked to Kelrian, moving and talking was one of his many talents. "That sounds brutal, if something can drain you of energy i wouldn't dream of trying it" he said playfully as he tossed the plushie. " So, what exactly do you..you know do?" Alex said as he straightened himself out. "Like 'power' wise?" Alex said this a little awkwardly, not knowing if it was a touchy subject here.

"My main power is regeneration.... which is a good thing, 'cause I'm a complete klutz." Kel shrugged, and added, "I'd be in the hospital half my life if it weren't for that. For along with being incurably clumsy, my favorite activities are particularly unsafe. Remind me never to go skydiving. With my luck the parachute wouldn't open and I do not want to find out if I could survive something like that." He didn't seem to particularly upset about that, in fact he looked a little indifferent about the possiblity of surviving being splattered and feeling it and having to endure...

Then he twitched slightly, and his demeanor went right back to energetic and weirdly cheerful. "My other power, or mutation, or whatever, is that my body generates too much energy. Which my regeneration thing uses I guess, but if I don't expend most of it, I get twitchy and hyper and strangely enough my hair and my nails grow, and I really don't know if thats all but its all I know about right now." Another shrug, and he flopped onto the bed. Not that he'd be able to relax for more than a few moments but still. It was nice. He pushed his plushies out of the way except a small lion which he used as a pillow. He lay there for a few moments, until he felt fidgety. He sat up and asked, "How 'bout you?"

Alex was honestly impressed with Kel's abilities "That must be quite convenient, your lucky." Then he smiled "Allow me to demonstrate my abilities" he said mischievously as he instantly turned his entire body into a red smoke. He loved showing off his power, and loved the felling of freedom and power when he 'turned'. He moved around the room a few times, faster and faster each time. Then he circled tightly around Kel , eventually covering his entire body. When he made his point he drifted back towards the ground, reforming, except for his legs, which he kept as billowing smoke.

"Basically can turn myself into a gas, or how ever much of myself I want to be. It's nifty. I also have some control over gases, especially air." He said this rather normally, as if it was no big deal. "My entire family is gifted, except my mom. What about yours?" Alex then began to slowly hover off the ground, his hair flying back like it was under heavy wind, wisps of red smoke drifting from him.

Kelrian was speechless, which took some doing. His blue eyes were just about as wide as they could go, and his mouth was open slightly. Whether or not he was breathing was hard to tell. His power might be convenient, but that... was awesome. He closed his mouth, sat up a little straighter, and told himself to breath. He couldn't react in awe every time he saw a new power, even one as ... that. "That was.. cool," he said, though cool was quite an understatement.

He shook his head and replied to Alex's question, "None of my family members are, that I know of. My sisters, well they're probably all young enough that it may have not developed yet... even my older sis. My dad is as mundane as its possible to be. And my mom," he almost said that she wasn't, but then thought, no she's my stepmom. He shrugged, "I wouldn't know. She vanished, when I was three I think." Didn't really want to mention it since it wasn't a very happy subject and people instantly felt sorry for him even though he could barely remember her.

Alexander felt a little guilty for showing off his powers. He didn't want his roommate to think he was a showoff, he just wanted to show the full scale of his powers, and maybe getting a few compliments would be nice. But in spite of trying to be modest, Alex still smiled at Kelrian's reaction. "Well it wont protect me from wounds, but it gets the job done."

The smile faded from Alex's face as Kelrian told him of his mother disappearance. But to try to make it look like he didn't care and to not make a big scene of it he forced himself to restore his smile, although he wished he could offer his condolences, but that could make the situation awkward and Alex was sure Kelrian was sick of peoples condolences. "I wonder how common mutant parentage is for mutants? Anyways, what types of classes do they offer for, you know, practice?" Alexander said casually as he completely reformed and fell onto his bed, changing the subject quickly.

"I think... its probably common for mutants to have children that are mutants, but I'm not sure whether that's more common or if its more common for it to occur spontaneously," Kelrian said, sounding somewhat thoughtful. He didn't look or feel too upset, but noticed that Alex had been and the somewhat forced smile. He was slightly relieved that the other boy didn't make a big deal about it. Its not like he really knew her... he shrugged. "And classes... I think it depends on your powers."

((Have t'go to class, sorry for the short reply.))

Alex sat up on his bed, then, seemingly changing his mind he repositioned himself in a more comfortable position for talking. " Then I wonder what classes I'd take, other than the normal ones of course. I have no problem controlling my powers and I can already fly well enough, I can't wait to see what I'll get to take. What did you take last year, even tho our powers aren't similar?

Alex drifted to another topic, normal for his quick conversations. He hated the few dull moments of silence, so he always pounced on the opportunity to start a new topic. Especially with another youth who seemed to be as equally quick. "So, i heard a few students talk about code names and I heard some stuff on the news about something like that, wrll they sounded like code names anyways. Do we get one of those?" Alex thought of all the possible names he would take, already having a few in mind. He wondered what Kelrian's code name was.

"Basically I think they're trying to figure out how my powers work exactly, so that I can heal myself intentionally and perhaps heal others if that is even possible," Kel said with a shrug. "It seems that I heal by regeneration, kinda like starfish but not really. I really don't remember most of my classes, since I came in part way through the school year I was a little out of sorts." Kelrian pulled a hair tie off his wrist and put his hair up in a loose ponytail. Getting hair in his eyes was getting a little annoying.

"Hmm, code names. I don't have one, but I think they're self-chosen and optional, for the most part. But I could be wrong. There's a plant-manipulator here that calls herself Rosethorn, but I think she's just messing around with it. One of her other nicknames is 'Quirk' and she lives up to it." A slight grin spread across his face. That kid was a weird one, reminded him of his sisters but a lot less annoying. "My sisters call me Ke-Ri." He made a face, and added with a sigh, "Actually, they call me a lot of things. I have too many nicknames. Kel, Kelri, Rian, Ri: mostly just variations of my name. Kelly is the most annoying, by far. I can't think of an actual code name though."

"You could always go with Starfish" Alex said with a smile. He casually looked around the room, his eyes falling on his alarm clock, surprise registering in his face at the time. Alex willed himself to get out of bed, but failed for a few seconds and wallowed in his comfort. Then he glanced at the clock for support and tried again, in a few seconds his arms began to hoist him off his comfortable bed.

When Alex finally was at least sitting up he addressed Kelrian. "I didn't realise what time it is, I'm supposed to take a tour in a few minutes, It was great meeting you Kelrian" and with that Alexander turned himself into smoke, drifting out of the room through the window, the small spaces where more than enough room to escape.
