Affiliation: X-Men

Name: Logan (His real name is James Howlett but he has no recollection of this part of his life.)

Nicknames: Wolverine

Blood type: A

Place of birth: Canada (Exactly where is unknown.)

Age: Unknown (Looks to be between 30 & 40 in the movies.)

Marital Status: Single

Known Relatives: Unknown

Base of Operations: Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Physical Appearance: Muscular. Toned. Physically fit. Strong.

Distinguishing Marks: None really, although he has long sideburns and hair that sits in a way that could be likened to wolf ears.

Clothing style: Basic jeans, t-shirts, slacks, anything that's comfortable really.

Xsuit: Basic black leather X-Suit worn on missions.

Powers

Heightened Senses: Wolverine's senses are superhumanly acute, and are comparable to those of certain animals. For example, he can track someone by smell just as a dog or wolf can. His sense of hearing is only slightly less developed than that of Daredevil. It is unknown whether Wolverine can see into the infrared and ultraviolet portions of the spectrum. It is unknown whether Wolverine's senses of taste and touch are superhumanly acute. In part Wolverine's superhuman senses comprise a separate mutant power of his, but they are also due in part to his power of cellular regeneration. Thanks to the latter power, the cells of Wolverine's sense organs do not atrophy, or at least do not do so at the rate that an ordinary human's might.

Adamantium Skeleton: Through unknown means, strips of Adamantium were fused to Wolverine's skeleton. Adamantium is an artificial alloy developed by Dr. Myron MacLean and is the hardest metal known to science. It can be cut with a special subatomic particle beam; otherwise, to all intents and purposes, Adamantium is virtually indestructible. As a result of being laced with Adamantium, Wolverine's bones are therefore virtually unbreakable. The presence of Adamantium in his skeleton does not interfere with his bones' normal function of generating blood corpuscles.

Retractable Claws: Apparently at the same time that the Adamantium was bonded to his skeleton, Wolverine was also equipped with his solid Adamantium "claws”. The claws are each roughly a foot long, the length of Wolverine's forearm. He is equipped with three claws on each of his arms. The claws are connected directly to his skeleton and to his nervous system. Normally they remain beneath the skin and muscle of his forearms. Upon Wolverine's mental command, the claws shoot forward and emerge from openings on the back of his hands just beneath the knuckles. He can unsheathe any number of his claws at once. The claws do not lie partially within his wrist whether they are sheathed or unsheathed, so he is able to use his wrist as any normal person would. However, he must keep his wrist straight at the moment his claws shoot from beneath his foreman to and through the openings in his hands.

Wolverine also possesses retractable bone claws that are housed in his forearms. At will, Wolverine can release these claws through his skin between the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but bleeding is quickly halted by his healing factor. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than that of normal human bone structure. This allows Wolverine to be able to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials. While Wolverine possesses an adamantium skeleton, his claws are able to cut through almost any material without any fear of damage to the claws.

Regeneration: Wolverine is a mutant with the power to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his cellular structure at a rate far greater than that of an ordinary human. This power is not subject to Wolverine's will; the regeneration occurs automatically. The speed with which the healing occurs varies in direct proportion with the severity of the damage Wolverine has suffered.

Wolverine's "fast healing ability" makes him virtually immune to poisons and most drugs. For example, it is nearly impossible for him to become intoxicated from drinking alcohol. He also has a limited immunity to the fatigue poisons generated by bodily activity, and hence has a greater endurance than an ordinary human being.

Weakness: Wolverine sometimes lapses into a "berserker rage" while in close combat. In this state he lashes out with the intensity and aggression of a mindless animal and is more resistant to psionic attack. Though this quality has sometimes saved the life of his allies, as well as himself, he has frequently expressed shame concerning it as he strives to be a purely civilized and honourable warrior.

All other weaknesses are explained within his powers.

Additional Skills: During his time in Japan and other countries, Wolverine became a master of virtually every form of martial arts and fighting, both armed and unarmed; as a samurai, he is especially skilled in the use of the katana. Wolverine has also received vast training as a ninja thanks to his mentor Ogun and trained for 5 years with Bando Suboro at the ninja village in Jasmine Falls. He can also use nearly all types of weapons, traditional or modern, long or close range. Wolverine is an extraordinary hand to hand combatant also possessing a wide knowledge of the body and pressure points. He is also an accomplished pilot and highly skilled in the field of espionage and covert operations.

Though seemingly brutish, Wolverine is actually highly intelligent. Due to his increased lifespan, he has travelled the world and amassed an intimate knowledge of foreign languages and cultures. He is fluent in English, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Cheyenne, Spanish, and Lakota; he also has some knowledge of French, Thai, Vietnamese, and German.

Logan's physical and mental state has been described as the "equivalent of an Olympic-level gymnast performing a gold medal routine while simultaneously beating four chess computers in his head."

Personality: Wolverine is private and often gruff but, despite popular belief, does not enjoy killing or giving into his berserker rages. Logan adheres to a firm code of personal honor and morality, despite often displaying a rebellious and irreverent attitude. He has had many romantic relationships with numerous women throughout the decades, most of which aren't known. His most meaningful have included Itsu, Silver Fox, Mariko Yashida, and a flirtation with Jean Grey. He has found a family in the X-Men and provides a father figure to Kitty Pryde and hopefully others too.

Notes: Although he would rarely admit it, Logan remains with the X-Men because he feels the team is the closest thing he has to a family in the world, and his deep affection for those within its walls gives him something more to focus on. Serving with the X-Men has given Logan what he had been missing for so long: a cause worth fighting for. Still somewhat uncontrollable and unpredictable in battle, and prone to an occasional berserker rage, Wolverine has proven to be a tremendous asset to the team; he continues to make his home in Xavier’s mansion. Beneath his brutish exterior, Wolverine will always be the scared, insecure boy who lashed out at the world all those years ago, previously feeling he was doomed to never make peace with his troubled past; but thanks to finally finding a purpose again, the Wolverine feels the future is brighter than it has ever been.

History: Born over 100 years ago as James Howlett, the sickly son of a wealthy landowner, James' life endured an abrupt change when the Howlett's estate hand, Thomas Logan, was thrown off the estate. Thomas returned and killed James' father. Enraged, James struck back and, during the ensuing struggle, killed Thomas with two sets of bone claws that extended from in between the knuckles on each hand. James also scarred the face of Thomas’ son, who was known only as "Dog".

James was spirited away by Rose; a governess who had been residing with the Howlett's and whom James had befriended, and taken to a mining operation in Alberta where she gave him the false name Logan. Seemingly blocking the memory of the tragic events that had befallen him, "Logan" quickly grew stronger in the wilderness. He stayed with the miners until Rose announced her intention to leave with her newly announced fiancé Smitty, the mining camp foreman who had been like a surrogate father to Logan.

Operating on the elder Howlett's orders, Dog tracked Logan down. Forced to remember his past, Logan unsheathed his claws once more and clashed with Dog. During the fight, Logan accidentally impaled Rose on his claws, killing her. Shocked, Logan fled into the woods, and was not seen again for many years.

In the 1996, Logan was captured by Colonel William Stryker, and drafted to be the first in one of two initial experiments to see if the indestructible metal, known as Adamantium, could be successfully bonded to human bone cells. Before this operation could take place, Stryker had to make sure Logan remembered nothing of his past life. So, he designed a program that would implant numerous false memories into Logan's mind, thus making it virtually impossible for his newly named, Wolverine, to sort out which of his memories were true and which were not; the last course of this program would not take place until during the operation. As a result of Stryker’s tampering, Wolverine has no recollection of his identity as James Howlett.

While enduring the pain of the metal fusing to every part of his skeleton, Logan lost himself in a dark, warm and safe place within his mind, letting his healing factor take away the pain. That was until after the operation was done, when the doctors around him believed his memories were completely and utterly wiped that they stopped injecting him with the very drug that had kept him subdued for so long. For some reason, he found himself able to think long enough to break free of the bonds. In a classic berserker rage, the Wolverine destroyed every last doctor in the room, Stryker having fled the moment he realized what was happening.

Escaping into the surrounding woods, that was where Logan lived, running among the wolf pack he so closely began to resemble; living off the land; becoming wilder and wilder until he encountered Canadians James and Heather Hudson, who took him in, trying their best to bring him back to civilisation. Many years later, and after he resembled some of the human he had once been, Logan left the Hudsons, hitting the road, travelling from place to place, until, seemingly by pure coincidence, he was contacted by Professor Charles Xavier. Offering the Wolverine a roof over his head, and the answers he has been searching for, Logan agreed to come to the mansion, at least, for a while...

SAMPLE RP POST

NB: Features Kitty for interaction sake, although, as stated, he is like a father figure to her. If you want that changed, let me know. ^_^

The dreams, they were always the same; white and grey walls, X-rays brightly lit, the feel of the water, the sound of muffled voices, the sense of glee at the success around him. Most of all, and with such vivid clarity, he remembered the burning searing pain as what would prove to be highly indestructible metal, was fused to his entire skeleton; from the first needle to the last, that was a part of what had happened that he had never forgotten.

And that was the part of his past that constantly haunted his dreams, along with the dark faces of those that’d done this to him; changed his life forever. He tossed and turned, let out cries that sounded more like those of a wounded wolf, or growls that highly resembled the pack he had once run with. He may have been back in human civilisation for many, many years now, but he would never for one moment let slip from his mind the freedom he’d felt running with the pack.

Soon, and highly welcomed, his dreams changed to images of forest beds flinting by, trees being dodged, and a very scared rabbit running for its life. Logan settled back into his pillow, a sigh of contentment leaving his lips, his eyes soon opening as he sensed a very real presence nearby. “How long ya been standin’ there kid?” he asked, knowing her smell and the shape of her form in the shadows.

“The moment I heard your first growl. I knew then you were dreaming again,” she simply said, moving closer to him now that the danger of being mistaken for one of those doctors in his dreams had passed.

“Thanks for carin‘ so much, Half Pint but I’d hate ta sink my claws in,” he gently reprimanded her, sitting up, the half moonlight from the window highlighting his sweat covered chest.

“Why do you think I was standing all the way over here?!” Kitty chided, placing her hands on her hips and looking so very indignant.

Logan snickered, knowing that look very well. She was as stubborn as he could be at times. Pushing back the sheet, and climbing out, he gave a wink her way, “Ya better be careful, Kit Kat, people might start talkin.”

“Hmmmph, let em,” was all she said in reply, smiling from ear to ear.
