Wolverine's World; It's Logan Time... [COMPLETE]

He was restless to say the least. It bothered him to no end that sometimes he wished something major to happen just so he could work off some of the ever present energy he found himself experiencing every day. He didn’t need to sleep all that much, and the sleep he did get replenished him within moments. Shame he was yet to meet so many of the newcomers to the school, although, he had heard about a fellow Regen, his interest peeked; he’d approach the teen soon enough, but for now, it was Logan time.

Or rather, Wolverine… pressing the button that would start the simulation below in around two minutes, giving him enough time to make his way down to the middle of the now rather boring oval shaped room.

Battle stance ready, the room was thrown into sudden darkness, Logan’s ears pricking, his senses on full alert. Normally, he would have thrown Sabretooth, his oldest arch enemy into the simulation, however, this one was a new program he was trying out, with humanoid sentinels thrown in. Thing was, he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between friend and foe by sight; no, that he would have to decipher by heightened sense of smell alone.

He’d also thrown in a mutant he’d come across not long ago; one of the latest Brotherhood members to feel the pain of six sharp blades in his gullet during the confrontation. It was him that Wolverine picked up on first, head snapping to his immediate left, side stepping, as he turned to hide his rather out in the open form behind the thick trunk of a very tall tree.

A forest setting, indeed, one of Logan’s most favourite, and a surrounding he was most used to. In the distance, a wolf pack howled, reminding him of a time long ago when he’d been as wild as they were.

Straight ahead, the sound was heard long before they hit the tree trunk, embedding almost their entire length into it before Logan, in the brief moments it would take his adversary to produce more spikes from within his body, ran out, rushing forwards, leaping, and that familiar SNIKT as he slashed outwards. Spike moved out of the way at the last minute, a smirk clear on his face.

He was so very sure of himself this one, and that was what Logan liked, a challenge, although, that attitude had gotten him seriously wounded the first time, and it probably wouldn’t take that long to happen again now, either. However, the Wolverine had programmed the humanoid sentinels to attack any mutant within the simulation. So, Spike was about to throw another lot of his natural weapon when he was suddenly knocked off his feet by a concussive bomb landing just shy of his feet; this sending Logan flying the opposite way of course, considering he had been just about to slash out again, so very close to sinking his claws in.

His adamantium laced lower back smashing into a tree, Wolverine was already getting up even before he’d completely settled to the ground. Crouched now, he waited… they were coming, he could hear them, ten in all, and should someone else enter the Danger Room any time soon, they would be brought into Wolverine’s world in an instant, without even a moment to acknowledge a simulation was already running and they really should back out and leave whomever had started it be.

Wolverine grunted, the only sign his already healing body had registered the sword-like appendage punching through skin. pushed through until it was stopped by the adamantium casing the ribs on his right side. At such close range, and from behind, Logan had to swivel around in the blink of an eye to stop the humanoid sentinel from stabbing him through again.

At the same time, he noticed the manoeuvring of its other arm, fingers rolling back to reveal the barrels of several shotguns. Logan slashed, watching the arm fall to the ground. “I don’t think so, Bub,” he said, holding his right set of blades out towards the robot.

The force came from behind, knocking the Wolverine forward straight into his current close range opponent, in turn unbalancing the heap of mental and fake flesh. ~OW!~ the feral mutant thought, a few choice swear words following that simple way of announcing that had hurt! The grenade shrapnel wound was already healing, but hell, Logan had so taken for granted the true stealth mode of these software run machines.

Head snapping up in time to block a downward strike with his blades, Logan’s hunter/prey eyes stared into the cold, emotionless orbs before him. Plunging the blades of his free hand into its stomach, he twisted them around, pulling essential cords from essential sockets, and rendering the sentinel no longer able to move its legs.

“Surrender mutant, we have you surrounded,” it warned, Logan just laughing in its face. “You can’t move, Bub. Threatening me ain’t gonna work,” and, with a direct punch into its eyes, he finished it off.

Lightning suddenly lit up the sky, the intense weather change Logan had programmed into this particular simulation coming to the fore. The rain started to pour down, not allowing for the Wolverine’s keen hearing to so easily pick up on his targets, and any scents were covered over pretty quickly. He was just gaining some sort of direction when one of the sentinels suddenly leapt at him, grabbing him by the back of the shoulders and taking him down.

Rolling end of end for a bit, Logan used his strength to be the one to come out on top, however, another one of his opponents was waiting, smashing him over the head with a closed fist. It may as well have been some sort of sledgehammer, Wolverine’s eyes momentarily glazing over with the pain. He really needed some help right about now, yet knew he was alone in this vast forest, with at least 6 more robots out there somewhere, not including the two now attempting to end his life.

Alix had been wandering. Black and white eyes delicately traveling over various items in the subbasement, mind mulling over their uses and practicality as she softly stopped, the danger room's activity entering into either her mind or her ears.. curiousity- a long placed trait of her own, causing her to enter into the occupied danger room.

Watching, only seconds passed before she felt the need to get involved. One hand raised almost imediately- a tree pounding into the side of the sentinal as if it were nothing as she moved forwards..

::You.. needed help?:: Quite probably- it'd been one of the few things he would have ever heard her say. Alix, as a known fact, rarely ever spoke. And if she did.. well, it had to have been something important.

Softly she orchestrated with her hands- another tree rising as she tried to pry the sentinal off Wolverine. ::I mean.. Iknow.. that.. you're.. more.. better than me.::

She added hastily, nervously tacking that bit on once she realized that what she said.. could've been not-so-right. At least, she assumed so. Really, she should've thought out her involvement in the fight a bit more. She, a student- with a rather intense weakness- had never even dreamed of standing against sentinals.

But then- Alix never had been one to think things through completely.

The sudden death grip release allowed Logan to actually take a proper breath once again, slashing sideways at the second Sentinel before it could take the place of its comrade. ::You.. needed help?:: Thought speak, oh how the Wolverine hated the thought of telepaths in his head. Yet, Alix would soon understand that an exception was made for the young woman at Xavier’s who couldn’t communicate any other way. “Yeah, thanks kid,” he simply answered, twisting to the right as another attempt on his life came.

Suddenly, once again, the second Sentinel found itself crushed by yet another tree, Alix’s words reverberating in his mind, ::I mean.. I know.. that.. you're.. more.. better than me.:: He chuckled, “That might be so on many levels, but I’m not tha one with Telekinesis, a power that is going to…” his words trailed off, another robot just appearing out of the shadows behind the young girl, reaching for her. Logan leapt, jumping straight over his new teammate, plunging six sharp blades into its chest. “Ya just have be more alert, is all,” he gently admonished, noting no immediate danger by scenting the air.

“We’re in the clear for now. Let’s hope some other curious teens join us soon. This ain’t much fun with just one or two people,” as his words ended the weather began to clear, the sun looking to be coming up over the horizon. “There are six more sentinels out there, ya keep close to me, and we’ll get em good,” he said, before starting to move off.

Logan quickly thrust out his hand, halting Alix’s advance behind him. Putting a finger to his mouth, he signalled for her to be very quiet, motioning to the scene below them. Three of the aforementioned robots stood on high alert along the riverbank short of a four meter drop below them. With the power of telekinesis now in play, Wolverine figured it would be easy enough to finish them off, long before the next part of the program came into play.

After all, what fun was there in only fighting average sized Sentinels?

Logan picked up on the scent just moments before Spike broke onto the scene below, throwing his natural weapons of choice over and over. This attempt proved to be quite affective against just one of their targets, it going down in a sparking heap of fire and wires. Spike was soon hit dead on, sent flying backwards by a small sized rocket, disappearing back into a little ways into the bushes behind him.

Wolverine smiled to himself, thinking, ~Well, that just leaves two,~ and then it suddenly occurred to him, having a telepath nearby meant he didn’t have to chance giving away their position by talking out loud. ~Think you can hold ‘em in place for me?~ he thought Alix’s way. ~I can take care of tha rest.~

She did have telekinesis, yes.. but robots didn't exactly think. And being a telepath- a heavily reliant telepath at that- fighting things that didn't think meant she'd have to actually watch, and not listen to information that streamed into her mind.

::Alright:: she nodded- swiftly- looking towards the robot with a dull look of shock and awe- mingled with a sort of emotionlessness. She carefully listened to him speaking, taking in his comands and suggestions with careful observation- weighing possibilities and situations and finding that his plan was defiently best suited. Together they could systematically destruct the simulated sentinals, and beat the simulation.

::Another.. would be nice. But I don't know anyone very well, so I can't go calling for them.:: she nodded, watching forwards as they looked down onto the remaining sentinals.

She didn't say a word when he told her to be quiet- and stood motionless. Truth be told- Alix rarely made more than a glimmer of noise. Soft soled shoes, light weight, and the uncanny abilitity to levitate herself just high enough to not make a sound made silence.. easy.

::right:: More short answers- as always. Even now, it was clear that while friendly, nice, and completely plesant.. she just simply didn't speak alot. Probably due to the years spent not speaking. Adjusting to that would be more than hard, and even now she was getting used to people not minding.

below them, trees suddenly uprooted- colliding with each of the three on every side to pin them down. ::That's the best I can do, so you'll have to move fast.. Even simulated metal I can't move, the program blocks me from it.:: she nodded- one hand held out as she watched Wolverine take action.

::That's the best I can do, so you'll have to move fast.. Even simulated metal I can't move, the program blocks me from it,:: there was no answer from Logan. The moment he’d seen the trees pin the sentinels down, he was gone, literally jumping over the short drop, a tuck and roll executed with precision as he met the ground. Of course, the robots noticed him, but Alix’s telekinesis was holding them in place. Short of calling for the others still out there, there was nothing either of them could do.

He was upon the first one in the blink of an eye, slashing with full 360 degree turns until there was the sound of metal sliding away from metal, and sparking wires, the sentinel, as well as the trees surrounding it falling away in pieces to the ground. Coming up on the second one, Wolverine’s keen hearing picked up on another sound, a rustling from the bushes. Turning in time to see several spikes protrude into their creator’s hands, the feral realised Spike would no sooner take down him along with the sentinel. After all, the program had them both enemies of the rather largely built mutant.

Wolverine ducked for cover, the helpless sentinel hit at least six times, that many Logan could count on impact, that was. It fell, now a useless heap on the forest floor. Spike looked around for him, Logan hoping he wouldn’t notice Alix up on the ridge… he did. Moving towards her swiftly, Spike wasted no time in arming himself yet again. ~Weak minded,~ Logan thought desperately towards the young girl. ~I am not going to reach…~ his thoughts were interrupted by a metallic announcement from the Danger Room itself...

'Third stage of Sentinel program initiated. Programming…”

“Oh crap!” he cried, sending Alix another message, ~Prepare yourself kid, we’ve still got three robots out there, and I am afraid they aren’t going to be average human size no more,~ as if to emphasise that, the ground shook with the impact of giant steps, a laser beam aiming for, and targeting Spike’s back. The shot rang out, and the mutant was torn apart, gone in an explosion that caused Logan to cover his eyes.

~Get down here! Move it!~ the Wolverine ordered the girl. ~We have to reach shelter on the other side of the forest. IF we succeed the program will end.~

This was going to be most interesting. Three very tall, well armoured Sentinels tracking two rather small targets. Guess the advantage of being small is that they could flint in and out of protective areas, but damn, now Logan kind of wished Alix wasn’t with him. Would make moving past them a hell of a lot easier!

Her arms raised as spike armed himself- Black and white eyes focusing in on as she pulled a barrier around herself- and flung trees. Once the trees reached momentum, she dropped the telekinesis, allowing kinetics to take charge as she telepathically attacked the weak minded Spike. She did this all within moments, instinctivly responding to the attacks.

Having relied on her powers most her life for survival and life in general- it was no suprise that her talents were this highly developed. Not to mention, for a telepath, the danger room was easier. Sparing on another's program- where focus wasn't put on telepathic distractions- was a breeze.

When Spike reached the final blow- delievered by none other than a sentinal.. Alix ducked- just barely lifting off the ground as she manuvered herself delicately and much easier with telekinesis. More trees uprooted and shot together, creating a barrier between her and the oncoming sentinal. It was, at least, a small hinderance.

She nodded in understanding to Logan, and quickly moved- intergrating her movements now with telekinesis so that she could move fast enough and quiet enough to keep up with Logan.

::as long as it's lazer beams and anything other than metal, I can use a barrier.. keep close, I can make it stronger that way.::

She spoke softly- still holding that dull emotionless vibe to her voice.

Her promise of being able to hold up a barrier was something Logan believed she could do only against the more primitive of the oversized Sentinel weapons. The deeper they went into the underbrush of the forest, the more the robots would want to completely clear the way of any obstacles blocking their sight, even though their ability to see in the infrared spectrums did help to locate and lock on to targets that little bit better.

~That ain’t gonna work against their other weapons,~ Logan thought Alix’s way. ~Ya gotta drop tha trees if ya wanna move quicker. If ya can keep up with me while still holdin’ em then by all means, keep em there,~ and with that, the Wolverine slashed through the thickness of the underbrush, allowing clear access for the both of them.

After an unknown amount of running, the sentinels must have gotten tired with tracking them using infrared, the area directly behind them suddenly going up in flames, the shock wave of the explosion almost knocking Logan off his feet. He was quick to glance his companion’s way, to make sure she was alright; recovering from the suddenness of it all.

“Like I was sayin’,” he simply said, motioning her to move on. “Time for some distraction tactics, kid. Keep movin’. I’ll catch up with ya soon,” and it was just like the Wolverine to not give his team-mate any time to argue, disappearing towards the area still burning with fire.

Gone from Alix’s sight, Logan sniffed the air, falling into battle stance, wondering if tackling one of the robots head on would do any good. It suddenly occurred to him he needed a way to reach the head of the machines, wondering if Alix was strong enough in her ability to telekinetically manoeuvre him up there. Figuring he could try that later on, Wolverine moved up the nearest, and tallest tree, waiting for the perfect opportunity to lunge.

That opportunity never came, the sentinel knowing where he was before he’d even reached the very top, shooting out the base of the tree from underneath the feral Regen, Logan’s impact on the ground hard, knocking the wind completely out of him and breaking a few ribs to go with it. Believing him to be dead, the three very tall robots moved off after their other, and to them, much less threatening target. Realising their attention was focused on Alix, Logan willed his healing ability to hurry the hell up. He had a member of his ‘pack’ to protect.

Her eyes shifted to logan at his comment, just barely gleaming into a half-smile as she suddenly.. closed her eyes. Imediately focusing inwards, she seemed to grow by the second.. less emotionless. Her eyes grew expressive, and her features.. well, it was apparent that she was allowing herself to feel more..

And therefore, act more. The trees pressed tighter, and she moved quicker towards logan- the barrier around her strengthening. When the explosion hit, she jumped- quietly turning to face the explosion with a slight bit of shock.

::But Wolver-:: She cut short, sighing as he ran off without listening.. So he did do that. She had wondered if the other's thoughts simply exagerated it. She concluded to move on, quietly moving her way through the underbrush until she heard an all resounding crash.

She didn't exclaim his name, like many would do- there wasn't much of a point to her doing so, sinceit'd do nothing. She did, however, turn to move after him.. Only to stop as she heard the tell-tale crush of the 3 sentinals moving her way.

A plan.. she needed.. a plan. Imediately her mind began analyzing information, calculating things and borrowing information from all sources she possibly could. What was a weakness of the Sentinals? What was their destructive points. Finally, she seemed to find a way and quietly.. stopped manuvering, lowered even a few more of her emotional barriers.. and sped upwards.

A thick barrier consummed itself around her, trees and the like following in her wake as she rose. Everything she'd do would have to be on a telekinetic level, meaning that.. if she wanted, she'd have to keep her emotions in check.. not let too many outside influences sway her... Now, in the air, she was more.. human.. than she'd looked at any point. Sure, she had the whole identity of humanity.. but what really made.. people was their emotions. Alix, to the minds of others, didn't have any.

Seemingly, she did. And now.. she used them against the sentinels, heightening her power. A sentinel raised an attack- and- much to suprise, it didn't penetrate the barrier. In that second that the robot attacked, she pulled the massive trees towards him- one going at it from behind at the knees.. the other from the front at it's chest- full speed and full blast plummelling the monstrosity. It teatered backwards, falling with a loud and resounding crush backwards.

She lowered back to the ground- ducking behind the fallen sentinel- still operative but fading- and alerted the others. Her barrier still up, another attack came- this time a restraining device made to nulify powers, followed almost imediately by a energy beam from the other. She ducked away quickly- leaving the first sentinel to be destructed by it's own kind.

She rose again, this time knowing fully well.. she'd have to find a new way to attack. Sentinels... highly adaptive. She'd taken that information from her scan on sentinels...

::Wolverine? You up yet?:: she questioned, eyes narrowing as she stared forwards. ::I Could teleketincally pull you up here..:: she nodded to nothing- and imediately began the barrage of trees towards the sentinals, attempting to knock their heads off.

By the time Alix’s first barrage of trees had caused the Sentinel to teeter, Wolverine was back on his feet, determination set clearly within his face. Not allowing anything to get in his way, he slashed his way towards the young woman’s position, only slowing to a stop when her words appeared in his mind, ::Wolverine? You up yet?:: she questioned, eyes narrowing as she stared forwards. ::I Could telekinetically pull you up here..::

~Hell yeah I am up. You okay kid?~ he thought her way, tilting his head to the side and giving her offer some serious thought. In that time, he was picked up and targeted by one of the two remaining Sentinels, moving sideways in time to avoid the nice clean hole its laser had been trying to burn through him. ~If ya can seriously get me up to the head of the nearest one, I can take care of the rest,~ he sent Alix’s way.

He hoped she was quick about it, because staying still in one place for too long would definitely get him killed, ending this little simulation all too soon. He ducked straight down into a crouched position, senses on full alert. That robot that’d just shot at him would surely be coming back for more.

::I'm ore than alright.. I took down one of them.:: she added- giving him a count as she softly held her ground next to the disabled sentinel, waiting for Wolverine's word.

::Sounds good, you ready?:: Apparently, she assumed he was- Alix quietly raised her hand silently sending him almost imediately into the air at the same level as the sentinals head. She, meanwhile.. took cover, still hiding behind the disabled sentinel.

She kept a good watch, fully prepared with more treas to respond if she was needed to.

((sorry it's short. ^^ I'm at a lull in activity in this post))

The sudden weightlessness of being lifted by telekinesis was disconcerting even for someone like him. Arms flailing a little as he tried to gain some form of balance while relying solely on someone else’s powers, Logan rode the energy wave upwards. Alix lifted him so quickly the first sentinel didn’t have a chance to regain its target before he was upon its head, slashing and cutting downwards and sideways. Before it could comprehend what was happening, its head lolled dangerously to the side, gravity taking it the rest of the way.

As it fell, Logan followed, landing beside it, and looking for Alix. ~Kid,~ he thought her way. ~Tha safe point is only twenty metres away. Start runnin North. I’ll keep tha last robot busy,~ Logan was already dodging sideways, moving in the same direction in a less direct way.

With the shelter in sight, and the end of the program nigh, Logan grinned to himself. He’d just found a rather handy little partner, even if one of her powers was on his “I completely hate’ list. He reached it just as the last Sentinel found him again, sending a small rocket his way. Logan sidestepped a little too late, the force sending him sliding closer to the shelter, bathing him, and Alix, if she was there, in shrapnel. Managing to crawl the last couple metres, the moment he stepped over the threshold of the cave, the program ceased immediately, everything around them disappearing, as the computer powered down the holograms.

“Yer musta made it kid,” he said. “Simulation wouldn’a shut down if yer didn’t,” he looked around for her, his eyes adjusting to the stark greyness of the true Danger Room. “Oh, and I’d gladly take ya on a mission anytime,” he commended, turning towards the doorway.
