It wasn't the kind of day that would bring tourists to the Niagara Falls. It was dark, it was stormy, and it was only getting worse. The spray from the falls combined with the pouring rain to drench anyone foolish enough to come near. It was difficult to see the mighty falls... or anything for that matter... but Eldan hadn't come to see them, this time. He had come to hear it, the roar, and to feel the rain soak through him. El closed his strange green eyes and leaned against the slippery rails. He couldn't come out to the falls on a sunny day, not without heavy coverings that made the heat unbearable. But most people didn't come on the rainy days, they let the slight discomfort of getting damp sway them from discovering the quiet beauty that occured as the rain washed everything, and blocked out all sounds from the city. The tall young man watched with surprise as a young couple in wedding garb ran by laughing. So they hadn't been deterred by the rain, hadn't felt that their special day had been ruined by the weather. He pushed his soaked hair out of his eyes and wandered away from the main attraction, the falls. Walking down a path, barely able to see where he was going... he found this place strangely soothing. A hidden niche of beauty, in a rotten city that was the perfect example of what not to do... |

A certain blond regen was on a little weekend trip with his family, away from the Institute. Kelrian Alther, to be exact. They only had one day in the area - and a little rain couldn't dampen the mood of someone like Kel anyhow. His father, step-mother, and sisters sheltered in a gift shop in hopes that the rain would abate, while Kelri ran off to explore the park in the rain. He was slightly disappointed that he could not see the niagara falls well, but not too much. Getting drenched by it was good enough. And he could see it a little. Enough to get the idea. Kelrian leaned against the rails, near to where Eldan had earlier, and the climbed up and peered over the edge. He couldn't see the bottom, because of the mixture of mist and rain. Cool.. That was when the squirrel attacked. It launched itself at his face, making a weird barking noise, and scratched his face. Kel gave a high pitched scream, threw himself backwards, and gave another little yell when it kept coming at him. What, was this normal behavior for squirrels? When it looked ready to attack him again, he fled stumbling into the rain. The scratches on his face healed but he kept running until he hit a tall, dark figure. He nearly fell, but somehow didn't despite himself. "Sorry," he said at the blurry figure, and then mumbled something about rabid squirrels... realising just then that he had overreacted a little bit. |

"Are you... quite alright?" Eldan said, one arm out to steady the clearly unstable blond teenager.. blinking down at the drenched boy. Such energy. What was he doing running blindly through the rain? It took him several moments to understand the blond's mumbles. His strange pale green eyes narrowed slightly, and he asked in an amused voice, "Please don't tell me you were running from a squirrel." He had to have misheard that... |

"Are you... quite alright?" The question startled the blond for some reason. Perhaps he'd been expected to be snapped at and pushed away? Perhaps. "I'm fine," Kelrian replied uncertainly to the question and the steadying hand. For something about this person made him nervous, though he had absolutely no idea why. After all, he was just a lone figure standing in the rain dressed in black and looming over Kel. He couldn't make out more than a blurry face and dark hair... the rain hid everything. "Please don't tell me you were running from a squirrel." Kel made a face, embarrassed and annoyed. That was exactly what he'd been doing. He was slightly surprised that the guy had been able to understand his mumbles. "Yea, the squirrel tried to tear my face off. So I ran. Psychotic animal..." he sighed. |

"Hmm," Eldan didn't know what to say about a squirrel trying to rip someone's face off, though it was more likely that it had just startled the boy. It seemed like the blond wasn't about to collapse... and he wasn't one of the Edraitii in any case. El was just too used to watching over the members of his group that it had been automatic to help. Or something like that. So. There was no reason for him to continue standing here with this strange blond guy. He was just about to simply walk away when he felt something bite his ankle painfully. A grayish blur, as he kicked it and it went flying through the rain. "Damn squirrel," he grumbled softly, wondering if he ought to catch the stupid thing for rabies testing... or if it had attacked because it could sense something wrong with him? It was said that animals could sense ghosts and other such supernatural phenomena. If that was so, was there something also different about the other.. he shook his head and continued walking away. He wasn't recruiting, he left that to Wren when it was necessary. And he came here to be alone, to enjoy the rain. Alone. |

"Oh no, did it get you to...?" Kelrian watched the squirrel go flying through away. He blinked a few times, and then asked, "Are you okay?" It took several moments for him to realize that the other guy had walked away. Where was he going so fast? He didn't even say 'bye... Kel followed after figuring out which way the dark figure had wandered off to. Curiosity of a cat, energy of a puppy, and sense of a dandelion... the blond mutant didn't think twice about following a strange man in an area he didn't know in rain so heavy he could barely see... "Heya," Kelri said as he caught up with a little more difficulty than he had anticipated. The other guy was taller, with a longer stride. Luckily Kel's energy was very high at the moment. "Whatcha doin'? I'm Kel. You know its raining..." finishing with an obvious statement, he tried to make out the other guy's face, failing to see more than a pale blur through the rain... and then a flash of green eyes. |

It didn't take Eldan long to realize that he was being followed. It was more than a little annoying, but at the same time he had to wonder why in the world the kid - Kel? - why he'd follow some random stranger around a state park in the rain. That couldn't be a very intelligent thing to do, especially considering the cesspit of humanity that the Niagara Falls state park resided in. Eldan scowled down at the blond, wondering whether he'd have to keep an eye on the annoying creature so it wouldn't get itself killed, only to see him looking up at El's face and struggling to keep up with him. Okay. That was it, the boy was officially weird, along with being annoying and of questionable intelligence. He sighed inwardly , and said coolly, "I'm Eldan." He didn't bother to comment on anything else the boy said or did. |

"Eldan. Bye then," just as randomly as he chased after the other youth, Kelrian left him. He knew when he wasn't wanted, most of the time, and didn't force his presence on others if they really didn't want it. Anyhow, he hadn't come to make friends, he came to check out the falls. He slid down an incline to another path before continuing, not quite sure exactly where he was going but glad to be moving and away from the squirrel and the strange guy he couldn't help but wonder about vaguely. He almost slipped down another incline accidentally, but simply fell down on the path instead. Looking down, through the brush with dripping wet leaves, he realized that he almost fell into the river. As close to the falls as it was... well, if he didn't drown would have survived the fall due to his regenerative powers... but the prospect of going over the niagara falls was enough to shake a little sense into him. So after he got to his feet, he went on at a more reasonable speed, and watched where he went. Until he noticed an interesting stone bridge, just as he passed it. He stopped and went back. Nearby was a little post thing, but he couldn't read it due to the blinding rain. Where did it go? He smiled brightly and went to find out, walking across the wet stone bridge without a care. |

Randal and Lyndal Mordred looked up as the soaked blond guy wandered past them. Their hands clutched a black umbrella, keeping the rain off their auburn curls. Pale gray eyes watched him, expressionless. Neither one of the brothers was currently in control of their body - it was in a sort of auto drive. What kind of idiot is wandering around in the pouring rain without an umbrella...? Ran asked his brother dryly, and wordlessly took control of their body. His brother didn't reply, but seemed slightly amused at least. Good. Sometimes it seemed like Lyn wasn't there. That was the one thing that really scared Ran, Lyn disappearing one day... Don't be silly, I'm not going anywhere, Lyn murmured softly as his brother followed the other teen the rest of the way across the bridge to the the isle on the other side. Just 'cause you can't, Ran replied, teasing. No, I wouldn't leave you even.. even if I could. You're my twin, Lyn told his brother simply. Nothing dramatic, but clearly truthful, caring. |

Eldan shook his head as the ki- as Kel wandered off. What was that about? he wondered. Doesn't matter. Forget it. Of course that was easier said than done. The nut was not exactly forgettable. Not realizing that he was following the same path as Kelrian had taken, Eldan Draith headed towards the Three Sister Islands. He liked them, they were nice and peaceful during the night. During the day, at least during dry sunny days, they were overrun with random tourists, but today... they would be free. And muddy. The pale mutant teenager hesitated at the bridge, noticing that someone else was on the far side. A slight figure holding an umbrella, following.... following the nuisance that was Kel. Oh great. |

Meanwhile 'the nuisance' slipped, as soon as he stepped off the bridge onto the ground - into the slippery, mucky, gooey mud. "Oh.. ew," he said, sitting there for a moment in surprise, before getting to his feet. Well, attempting to get to his feet. As said before, the mud was slippery.. and in any case Kel was a complete klutz. Once again, seat first in the cold mud. "Ugh." After another try, he was on his feet and back in balance. But that didn't make up for the fact that he was absolutely covered in mud, and the cold had finally begun to make him shiver. He'd go back... though he wouldn't get sick, he'd felt like getting changed. Mucky clothes was unpleasant. Kelrian turned around, to go back, and noticed a youth that had been behind him. The face was hidden by an umbrella, but Kel smiled brightly through the thick rain before passing by. |

Ran laughed quietly when the blond guy fell in the mud. He couldn't help it. He was completely covered in muck. Hehe. The boy froze when the guy turned. He thought he was going to get hit. The bright, cheerful smile was the last thing he expected. He was laughing at himself, practically, wasn't he embarrassed at all? Lyn said, startling his twin quite a bit by the way, "You can s-share my umbrella, y-you're s-soaked..." His voice was rather quiet, but had a strange tone that made it noticable. He turned to the blond as he passed.. and he stuttered. Aw. "Y-you s-shouldn't run around in the r-rain, y-you'll get s-sick." |

El blinked when Kel slipped, and was halfway across the bridge to help him up before he stopped himself. For one thing, the klutz was already up, and for another, there was no reason for Eldan to help him. None at all. He had no desire to help. Anyone. He nodded, and went to walk away, when he noticed the cheerful grin and the quiet words. It was simply for amusement, he decided, that he was still lingering. Because he definately did not care if these fools got hurt. A soft sigh, nothing more noticable than the wind in the rain, and he was simply not there. A shadow, nothing more. He was tired, and .. well, it seemed like the blond teenager had energy enough to spare. Almost perfectly invisible, the wraith hovered nearby. Eldan smirked to himself. Now he could be amused without getting annoyed.. ((*blinks* Woo. RPing with meself. Still.)) |

((Wrapping up the thread, for RPing with myself has gotten entirely too sleepy.)) "Thank you," Kelrian replied to the shorter guy, turning back to him. Shorter. He hesitated. So.. either Kel would have to hold the umbrella or slouch/crouch somehow while walking? Lyn didn't think of that, but his brother did. If it had just been him, he would've had the other guy stumble trying to stand under the low umbrella, but Lyn would get upset... so he handed the black umbrella to the guy. He peered up at the blond. He didn't look particularly stupid, or less than sane. It only proved that looks were deceiving. "I'm Kelrian," the blond commented as they walked back towards the .. falls, and the family he'd left in a shop thingie to play in the rain. Lucky that it was a large umbrella, or it wouldn't cover them both.. "I'm Mordred," Ran said, not mentioning that he was Ran Mordred, and that his brother Lyn happened to live in his skull with him. His eyes betrayed mischief suddenly, and his brother felt a vague thrill of alarm as he realized that his brother was planning on something troublesome. Don't be mean to him, please... Lyn asked. He didn't spend time with anyone other than Ran, really, and it was nice to be near such a cheerful person if only for a bit.. Eldan drifted behind the two -three?- boys. The exhaustion was worse than he thought. It was rather upsetting. He wouldn't be able to turn back without 'borrowing' someone else's energy. He decided, Kel had to be the one. The other boy didn't feel so energetic, and .. Kelrian was just exhausting by being so hyper. With a shrug, the wraithboy drifted through the blond boy. It was like being shocked by an electric charge - much much stronger than usual. Stars exploded in front of his invisible eyes. He'd been careless, not expecting such a charge. It was invigorating... but ... too much. His insubstantal body felt like it was burning. Not normal, definately not normal. What could he do? It burned... he let loose an explosive charge of electricity straight up. Lightning boomed. Uh... he had started a storm? Crud. He noticed the other two boys running for shelter, the umbrella torn from their hands. Didn't matter - he was drifting away. Back home. He'd been gone too long. ~~Le Fini~~ |
