Walking up the marble staircase was a small blonde haired girl. In her left hand held an antique looking suitcase. She was wearing an all black dress with white lace edging and collar. A black ribbon choker was tried around her delicate neck. A red stone etched with a black winged snake biting its tail while circling a star hung off the ribbon. This unique piece of jewelry represented a new Anime craze.

The door at the top of the steps was huge as she stared up the lintel. "Well, I guess this is the right place," laughing at her own mistake of getting lost. Yeah, she should have been here a few days ago but something happened. As soon as the dreaded flight landed a small doll popped out of no where. Knowing a little girl was missing it she knew it had to be returned. It took over four hours to find the girl in New York City's largest airport and another day to find a ride to North Salem Center. A giant smile lit up dark brown eyes as a loud knock echoed throughout the mansion's entry way.

The girl turned and a pair of Mary Jane's with 1/2 inch soles like that of biker boots began to pound back down the stairs stopping at the landing. This girl knew that a small bit of etiquette was needed and standing as if she owned the place wasn't the right thing to do. An urge began to fill her. Without caring who it bothered or the laptop snuggling in the suitcase; she dropped it on to the stairs. Balling her small fists she threw her arms over her head into the air and screamed, "I'm here." Finally after years of traveling without a home and powers that she could barely control Anne Lee Austin had finally arrived at the one place that could help a mutant.

Fluid motions, the Bo Staff following through with ease, the man wiedling it twisting and turning, bringing it around and through, up and over, down and out, all in the blink of an eye as he followed the routine he enjoyed the most when he practiced. Back at the Thieves Guilde he’d had his own special area for training like this. Here at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters he had to make do with the areas he found the most alluring, and right now, his training place of choice was the mansion roof, on the side closest to the front entranceway.

Of course, that wouldn’t have mattered in the least, the sudden voice yelling, "I'm here!" no doubt heard by the entire mansion; probably making a few heightened hearings ring too. Stopping his Bo Staff in mid swing and holding it to the side, red-on-black eyes looked for the source of the voice, leaning just over the edge of the balustrade. Now how in the world did such a big voice come from such a tiny little thing? Of course, that could be part of her powers, the ability to amplify her voice so she couldn’t be missed.

“I be pretty sure de entire mansion be hearin yo, Petit?” Remy called down. “Yet, I also be sure no’ all o dem be free ta be comin an helpin yo. Yo be expected?” he asked, studying her, even from his current distance. Perhaps getting a little closer would help her to feel a bit more comfortable. It was a dead giveaway Remy Etienne LeBeau had scaled many a wall, dropping to the area about two metres from the young form barely two minutes later.

“I be pretty sure de entire mansion be hearin yo, Petit?" That statement made Anne Lee abruptly drop her arms to her side. The shout was a spur of the moment thing and there wasn't time to check the octave. "I figured my knock would have woken the mansion. My voice I wouldn't have expected," she shot up to the stranger.

Astounded on how this guy scaled down the mansion caused the small blonde to revert back to the mannerisms her grandparents used. A bow greeted the man now standing in front of her. Almost as fast, and not as polite, she stood straight up and held out a hand. "I don't believe I'm expected. I figured if you're a mutant it’s OK for you to just show up," Anne Lee said as she stained to see the color of Remy's eyes. Something about them was odd. Ack being short was terrible.

"I'm Anne Lee by the way," she said suddenly as her small form scurried to retrieve the hopefully not damaged suitcase. Examining it Anne Lee concluded that there was no problems and picked it up. "You haven't seen a boy 'bout 4 inches shorter then I am. You can't miss him because he seems to have a bowler attached to his head or pair of cat ears that actually are." A tiny frown formed on her brow when she thought of what she had done. The little one was left all alone and it was her doing. "He's my brother and should of came here a day or a few go," she added.

"I don't believe I'm expected. I figured if you're a mutant it’s OK for you to just show up," red-on-black eyes narrowed a little. “If’n yo no’ be expected how yo be gettin through de front gate? I be blievin dis place be havin more security den dat dere Fort Knox.” "I'm Anne Lee by the way," nodding, he introduced himself in classic Remy style, “De name‘s Gambit, Petit,” and he realised the usage of petit was extremely fitting in this case.

Her question and description of her brother brought a genuine smile to his face. “Dat be de little catyboy. I be seein’ him aroun yet no’ be meetin him yet,” catching the small girl’s gaze he sensed some sort of change in her demeanour… worry perhaps. “He be safe’n soun’ here Petit. Once yo be settlin in I be helpin yo find him, if’n yo like?”

Hang on a second… since when did Remy Etienne LeBeau offer himself so extensively and so willingly to help someone? Interesting what just over 24 hours in this place could do to someone.

Anne Lee could feel the color rise in her cheeks. How was she going to explain to the stranger that she was not only trespassing but had just broken in and entering by overriding the security systems. It wasn't easy; she had only a few seconds of clearance before they reset themselves. That would have been a fun entrance sirens and everything going off. "I have my ways," she answered with a not so innocent smile. She was now on tippy-toes trying to catch Remy's eye color. There was something slightly odd about it.

A joyful glee came from the small girl. "He's here and he's all right," she exclaimed, "Don't worry about meeting directly because he doesn't do well with meeting strangers. We're complete opposites." Was opposite the right description? Contradictory probably would have described them better.

Shrugging she walked over to the bottom step and sat down in a dainty not so ladylike way. If she was at a formal party she'd act formally but normal everyday life was no formal party. Anne Lee then pulled out a black flip cell phone with a full keyboard. Quickly she replaced it concealed on her sash and opened the antique looking suitcase. In it were a few pairs of clothes, black and lace; a small change purse, and a small black rabbit plush with a blue jewel on its forehead that she wouldn’t like to be asked about. But only one of its contents she wanted and it was located in the false lining of the lid. Suddenly a laptop appeared from behind it.

A look of disappointment filled her face. Both of their batteries needed to be charged. "I'll take your offer. Both my cell and laptop are dead. I hadn't had the time to charge them," she sighed with the truth in the fact not many places would allow a 4'9'' person to crash the night to charge technology that they knew she couldn't offered. "I would have asked him to meet us but I'm depended on electricity as the next person."

"I have my ways," Gambit smirked. “As do I, Petit, but dat no’ mean it be wise ta be breakin inta dis place,” he said, motioning in the overall general direction of the mansion grounds. He wasn’t entirely sure what she was trying to look at, probably his eyes just like every other new person that met him. He leaned down, giving her a better look, those eyes now glowing a little for emphasis.

"He's here and he's all right… Don't worry about meeting directly because he doesn't do well with meeting strangers. We're complete opposites." Raising an eyebrow Remy asked, “An by strangers I be gathrin yo be talkin bou’ me?” He did feel grateful at her warning though. Nothing worse than trying to introduce yourself to someone who was overly shy, or just plain ignorant, the Cajun guessing it was the first category her little brother fell into.

After watching her fiddle with her belongings, Remy smiled when he saw the laptop. Did every person have one of those these days? "I'll take your offer. Both my cell and laptop are dead. I hadn't had the time to charge them… I would have asked him to meet us but I'm depended on electricity as the next person," Gambit just nodded. “Den yo be needin ta follow me, Mon Cher. De Day Room be havin plenty o electrical points ta be usin’,” he simply said, already opening the front door to the mansion.

Anne Lee crossed her arms in an affronted way. "I haven't broken into anyplace before. Computer systems maybe but I was up for the challenge," she stopped suddenly. Her face began to turn red. The scar on her left cheek became more noticeable as it stretched from just below her left eye to her jawbone. She had just admitted herself as a hacker and a potential bad guy.

She only looked up when Gambit leaned down. "Cool," she mused as his eyes began to glow. Smiling as if she knew something he didn't her suspicions had been proven. Through her random research she had uncovered many interesting facts about those few who possessed mutant abilities. It was possible that she had heard of the Cajun before but even her thoughts wouldn't prove if she did.

Nodding once Anne Lee smiled. "Yep, you're a stranger Remy. I would love for you to escort me to this here Day Room," she simply replied with a mock bow and followed after Gambit. Of course she cradled her laptop in her left arm. In her right hand she held her suitcase that she so carelessly closed without checking to see if it wouldn’t lock. But that worry wasn't one she cared about. The only worry was with her brother and his wellbeing.

“As do I, Petit, but dat no’ mean it be wise ta be breakin inta dis place.”

"Perhaps you should listen to you own advice." Anne Lee's careless hacking of the computer at the front gate hadn't gone unnoticed by the security team and she'd been under careful surveillance with the sophisticated system of security cameras since she'd come into the building, and now here was Mina, cutting them off before they got to wherever it was they were going.

With her long blonde hair tied up in a french twist and a gray pin-striped skirt suit on, she looked every bit the part of headmistress of an elite boarding school. Even so, there was a kind look to her expression as she looked to Anne Lee, though there was no doubt she was not happy about her little 'break in'.

Turning her blue eyes to Gambit, she arched a brow slightly. "I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting," she murmured, giving him a look that clearly said she wasn't happy about him sneaking around the Institute without at least making himself known. Still, he hadn't caused any trouble...yet.

Glancing to her watch, she pursed her lips slightly. "I've got to get to a meeting, but I want to see both of you in my office later," she said sternly, then glanced to Anne Lee. "And no more hacking computer systems."

With that she turned on her heel and headed down the hall towards her office.

((OOC: Here is where you can come to the office. It should be a grand ol' time =P))

Well, there were certainly worse ways to be caught out than by a very lovely looking lady. ’Sides, he had honestly thought Alix would have said something to those in charge at the school. And what was with her comment about him taking his own advice? Last time Remy Etienne LeBeau had checked he hadn’t broken onto the grounds of the mansion, nor had he gone anywhere within the school that had clearly been marked with no admittance. He didn’t blame the woman for being suspicious, but Remy really did hate being accused of something he hadn’t done.

Red-on-black eyes glanced down at Anne Lee the moment Mina left them be. “Well, dat be interestin’,” he commented, motioning for her to continue following him. “I be taken yo ta recharge dat laptop. By den it be time ta head to de office like she be orderin.” He suddenly found himself a tad bit nervous about the whole affair; being ordered to the Principle’s office like that reminded him way to much of his school days. Yes, he’d been sent there more often than he could count. Thing was, in his school days he’d been part of the Thieves Guilde in more ways than just being adopted by its head. Couldn’t exactly blame him when he took something that wasn’t his… after all, his career, at the time, had been to take what he wanted and give nothing back.

Walking into the day room, Remy pointed to several power sockets. “Yo be makin yaself at home, Petit,” he simply said, moving to turn on the TV and search through the guide to find something to watch while he waited for her computer to complete recharging.

Anne Lee stared up at the woman who seemed to be the head of the school. So she had been caught, had she? This was news and something that she yearned to fix but that would have to wait. Especially since she wasn't suppose to hack into computer systems. Grimacing she watched Mina walk back toward her office.

She glanced at Gambit with a what-was-her-problem look. "It's not like I hacked into the school's main system. I assumed that it had as much maybe more security as the Pentagon," she stated with a tone of voice that clearly said that one day she wished to hack into the Pentagon. It wouldn't be for messing with the government, no, more as a challenge than anything.

Following the Cajun quietly she became excited as he pointed out the electrical ports. "Oh thank-you Remy," Anne Lee mused as she gingerly walked to the nearest one. Putting the laptop on the floor she then in vain tried to open her suitcase. It was locked and upon inspection of the hidden pockets sewn into the sash around her waist she sighed. "Lock picking was something I never wanted to learn."

Without waiting for Gambit to make any sort of reply she proceeded to hold her hands out, palms up, in front of her. Closing her eyes in concentration Anne Lee tried to make the key inside her suitcase appear. This was hard because the choice of what exactly appears hadn't been granted and any old key would probably be summoned. The try was worth it but not to the full extent. After a moment she looked down at her hands and frowned slightly, "Not want I wanted." Suddenly the blonde smiled. "But it'll have to do," she joyfully stated. Instead of the key appearing two chargers popped out of no-where (came from her suitcase) and she plugged them into her laptop and cell phone then into the electrical sockets. "What's on?" she causally questioned as though having things materialize out of thin air was a norm.

Gambit chuckled, the mention of the Pentagon giving him a good opening to say, “Ah, Cher, I be tinkin dis place be havin more. An considrin wha be housed wit’in its walls I no’ be blamin de founder o de place makin it so like a fortress. Dere be a lot o mutant kids in dis ‘ere mansion.”

"Oh thank-you Remy,“ that was met with a small smile from Remy, looking up from the TV Guide. About to move his eyes back down to it, he heard, “Lock picking was something I never wanted to learn." He would have offered to help her in that regard, lock picking one of his fortes, however, she proceeded to move her hands, and with the concentration on her face combined with this, Remy had a funny feeling she was using whatever ability the X-Gene had blessed (or cursed, depending on how one looked at it) her with.

He couldn’t quite see what was in her hand, but knew for certain she hadn’t moved them to neither open the suitcase, or grab something that may have been on the other side of her, out of the Cajun’s eyesight. So, that left him thinking she could be one of those mutants able to teleport something to them by just wishing it… a power he often thought would be mighty handy. Even though it was clear it wasn’t what she wanted, she was happy with it nonetheless, so Gambit went back to gathering up the remote to turn on the TV.

"What's on?"

“No’ much, Petit,” he answered. “But dere be an old Ep o Family Guy dat be followed by a new one, so it be doin for now,” he explained, making himself comfortable in one of the single man couches.

"You're probably right about the mansion's security but didn't I all ready state that," Anne Lee said with a slight regal air. Actually she was mentally yelling at herself. What would've happened if she had hacked into at least the outer layer of the mansion's computer? It probably would have saved her time but then again what did it matter. No one could change the past.

Not even a gasp or calling it magic. She was disappointed that Gambit didn't even make any sort of reaction to things appearing from thin air. ~Maybe he couldn't see my powers.~ she shrugged getting up from the floor.

"Family Guy," she questioned as though she had never heard of it before. Walking over to the rear of the couch she rested her arms on the back and rested her chain upon her clasped hands. Being the perfect height she barely had to bend over to do this. "My favorite part is when they stopped the series only to be yelled at by the fans so they started it up again. Stewie... no Brian too I enjoy the most," she said excitedly. "But the crude humor isn't great for kids so I tend not to watch it that much. Futurama is way better anywho."

Suddenly a look of concern filled her dark brown eyes. "Remy maybe we should head off to that lady's office now. Don't want cha to get in trouble now," Anne Lee joked. Looking at her charging electronics she sighed. "I believe the cell has enough juice for a few calls. My laptop takes longer to charge but I can wait. Wishful thinking," she added with another sigh.
