Caleb stared in awe. He couldn't believe he was here, in the sub-basment, about to head into the danger room. Often he found himself wondering how it had come to be the He had been selected as an X-man. And now here he was, standing in front of the danger room door. -well, better not waste anymore time- he thought to himself as he cautiously walked through the door into the danger room. At once his insides began to twist and turn. He was a bit nervous after hearing that although these were simply "holograms" that never stopped them from leaving cuts and bruises! he wondered how well he would fare his first time seeing as how he just was not used to it, but he quickly dismissed the thought, and began to focus on what he was about to do. Now was not the time for idle thoughts. If you're head wasn't in the game, then you were bound to get taken out fairly quickly. He stood in the center of the room and looking around in all directions, getting a feel for the room and how it looked when it's systems hadn't begun yet. -It looks fairly dissapointing- he thought to himself. Almost the second this thought occured to him a cool, female voice promptly announced "Danger room acitvated. Training session initiated." and suddenly everything around him was enveloped in total darkness, as if all the lights had been turned off. slowly everything came back into focus, but he was no longer standing in the middle of a metallic circular room. Quite the opposite, he realized he was in New York City! Or what had been New York City. The big apple looked ravaged, buildings looked decrepit and damaged, cars were upturned and were on fire, windows were smashed in, the roads were severely cracked. -New York is no more- he thought to himself numbly. He walked slowly along the street, trying to get his bearings, when he heard something to his right. Turning, he noticed what looked to be two cyborgs, about the size of a full grown man, walking towards him. He immediately moved into a fighting stance and began to concentrate on the energy in the air. He noticed it was abundant. -nice,- he thought to himself, -this should definately help me out.- Suddenly the cyborgs leaped at him. their speed was unimaginable!! one easily leapt 20 feet in the air and fired what looked to be a lazer from it's eyes. Caleb leapt out of the way just as the lazer struck the spot where he had been standing previously. However, the force of the blast sent him flying into a lamp post. he rolled and stood just as the cyborg landed not 10 feet away from them. " Suck on this!" he yelled as he fired an energy wave at the advancing foe. The wave hit it's mark and sent the offending robot flying into a car, which promptly exploded. He smiled to himself. -one down,- he thought. He turned and came face to face with bad guy #2, and before he had a chance to blast anything at the cyborg, it pulled back it's arm and slugged him in the chest HARD. He was lifted off his feet and sent into a wall. Stars exploded in front of his eyes and he was momentarily dazed. before he had time to stand the cyborg had landed on his chest. it pulled back again to finish the job, but Caleb sent an energy wave from his hands and sent it flying. He leaped up and fired an energy projectile straight at the robot. The projectile hit and the cyborg exploded in a mess of fire and flying metal parts. "awww, little robot go boom-boom" he said to himself. This was going to be a piece of cake! Then he turned around. Standing in front of him about 100 yards away were 5 more little cyborgs and what was unmistakably 3 sentinals. He beathed a sigh of exasperation and steeled himself for the coming onslaught. "this would be alot easier with someone else here" he said aloud.... |

Walking down the labyrinth of hallways and around the school got boring after a while. All the scenery was pretty much the same, given what season it was. If it was spring then outside had a bit more to offer color wise. In winter the inside offered more in the form of blankets and a fire in the fireplace. Dia figured it might be good to go visit the Danger Room. She hadn't been in there for quite some time. Perhaps today would be a good day. With her feet turning a complete 180 degrees the ashen female made her way toward the Danger Room. It took quite a walk but eventually she did arrive only to find that the DR was already being used. From what she could tell from the computer it was one person. Well a good training session sounded like something she needed. With her fingers moving over the pad just to the side of the large metallic doors she entered only to find herself in New York City. The stone hued mutant hadn't come in time to hear the young male's comment about how fun it would be if someone else other than him was in there. Yet she approached anyways and seeing the cyborg and sentinels in the not too far distance she figured she might as well offer to help. "Need any help?" |

Caleb glanced over to see a stone hued mutant female, striding towards him. It was all he could do to hide his relief. "yes! haha thanks! I'm caleb by the w-" he was cut off mid sentence as a robotic leg came out of nowhere and sent him spawling on the floor. he aimed another projectile at the android and struck it right in the abdomen, destroying it completely. He stared at the new stranger. Stone hued, with fog colored hair, and denim colored eyes... Not what one would normally call a beauty, but she did have her appeal nonetheless. He stood and dusted the dirt from his pants. He stared up and counted.... 4 cyborgs, 3 sentinels. "As I was saying, the name's Caleb. Thank goodness you're here!! afterwards we can have a long proper introduction. but for Now, let's kick some robot butt!" He aimed an energy wave at the group, which stuck it's intended targets and sent the cyborgs flying about 50 yards before they struck the pavement with dull 'clink!' noises. Caleb softly smiled. "okay Ms. Thang, let's see what you can do!" |

Dia had sensed the robotic leg and upon seeing Caleb's powers her eyes went wide for a moment. Well, she'd be sure not to piss this guy off. With powers such as those he could make her paralyzed a lot easier than he could with most. Being metal based made things a bit more difficult. "okay Ms. Thang, let's see what you can do!" Miss Thang? Well, she supposed she could have been called worse. She looked at the cyborgs and sentinels, analyzing each one. The cyborgs were the size of a full grown man. Those she could take out far more easily than the sentinels. For the sentinels she'd have to use say a car or something to throw at them. Her denim eyes stared blankly at the remaining cyborgs as she thought about what she was going to do. Thrusting out her hands an invisible burst of power was thrown in the cyborgs' direction. She picked up one and had it hover into the air, it's eyes glowing ready to shoot. Twisting it's head she caused it to shoot at one of it's fellow cyborgs. One down, one in the air, two more to go. She kept the one in the air as she gave one that was still moving on the ground a little push bringing it closer to the second one. Then she tossed the one in the air against the other two with enough force to make them both fly towards the very back of the room. |

wow.. this girl was good, thought Caleb to himself... remind me not to make her angry... Suddenly his thoughts were interupted by two sentinals firing missles right at the both of them. Caleb raised his hands and concentrated hard on the energy particles around surrounding him and created a barrier around the two. The missles struck the barrier and exploded but both he and his new found partner were safe. "You've definitely got some moves there!" he shouted and returned to the sentinals. His powers were starting to drain and the first signs of fatigue were beginning to set in, but he only had 3 sentinels to go, and at the rate his partner was tossing the cyborgs around, this wouldn't be much longer. He fired a projectile at the center sentinel and struck it in the chest. There was a loud explosion, and when the smoke cleared there was a gaping hole in the chest of the sentinal. It stood still for a moment and finally fell backward, defeated. -just two more- thought Caleb to himself. Just as he thought this he felt as if a brick wall had hit him and he was sent careening forward. He struck the sidewalk and quickly rolled around. There was another sentinal? wouldn't these things ever quit!? "THAT'S ENOUGH!" he shouted and fired two large projectiles straight at the two nearest sentinals. Both projectiles hit their intended target and both robots exploded. Fatigue was definitely starting to set in and he could no longer stand. He stared at the young woman and hoped she didn't notice this. He looked over at the last sentinal as it was advancing his way. "Hey! I'm going to need your help!" he shouted at the girl. She was quite powerful and he had no doubt that she was definitely an X-man. hopefully she could handle one sentinel while he regained his stamina. |

Out of the three sentinels only one was left. This was considered a very good thing. That is until fatigue got to her partner and he had to ask for her assistance. "Okay Dia, you're an x-man. Think like one. Distract the sentinel away from this guy. It was a good plan. Hey, when it came to someone needing her help, she'd give it all she had and more. Staring at the sentinel she ran towards it, picking up a car on her way. First order of business was to knock out it's main weapon, the eye lazer. It was easier said than done for these suckers were strong but it was worth the try. With the flow of her body she stopped, tossing the car she had straight for it's eye or at least what she presumed to be the eye. With her powers she gave the car a little extra omph so that it was no longer just a car, it was a fast flying projectile. It may be more damaged than the sentinel but speed was something that you did not want to underestimate. If only she could use her ability to detect metals to aim perfectly. Oh well, if she missed she could try again. Though her aim wasn't horrible or anything. The eye lazer was powering up when the car hit it. Just as she predicted the car was far more damaged than the sentinel, but the sentinel didn't walk away without anything. No, it's little lazer eye had become damaged as well. Picking up her feet again she aimed for one of the legs, hoping to peel away some of the outer shell. Get to the good stuff underneath, that way it'd be easier to attack. |

"DIA! you can control metal right!?" he had one more trick left in him. He slowly dragged himself to his feet and walked towards the sentinel. "detection of mutant life forms. Destroy all mutant life forms" came the voice of the sentinel. -you wanna destroy something mr. Sentinel?- thought Caleb. -I'll show you destruction- he smiled and concentrated with everything he had. Suddenly a barrier formed around the sentinels legs and arms. He smiled, the barrier he used as a shiled he was also using as a rope in this instance. the sentinel was beginning to lose his balance. The sight of the oh so mighty sentinal swaying made him laugh before fatigue fully hit him and he fell to the floor. wit hthe little strength he had left he shouted to his partner "dia! finish him!" |

(OOC: I don't think she introduced herself) "I can't control that much!" It was like going against a tank. She could maybe take a part of the leg or a part of the arm and that was just maybe. She could definitely take apart it's outer hall but if there was an inner hall made of metal then heck if it was worth it. Her partner fell, yelling at her to finish off the sentinel from the very floor he fell onto. Dia stared at the sentinel going through her mind trying to think up a quick way that could maybe finish it off. A thick stream of a dark gray liquid poured out from both of her hands. She used as much as she possible could. Pumping out 30,000 square feet was not exactly easy. Pretty tired herself from using up all she could without passing out from the loss of metal, which for her was similar to loosing blood, she made it form into a stake. This now solid metal stake was thrown straight for the sentinel's chest and it successfully pierced it. Any part of the stake that was inside of the chest was then sprawled out making small little sharp double edged tentacles that swiped at whatever they could. Usually in machines the wire work was somewhere in the center. Dia applied this logic against the sentinel with success. The sentinel shut down. Reliquifying the stake the dark matter found it's way to it's owner, sinking back into her hands. Once it was all back she turned toward her partner, Now she had to help him. Heading for him she slipped to his side, leaning down as she spoke, "are you alright?" |

Caleb blinked and stodd up shakily. The world was spinning, but he figured he would be alright. "Yeah, I'm fine. Hey, good moves there." He began to concentrated on the energy surrounding him to draw it all in to make him stronger. "thanks for your help. For all the power I have, I'm not able t last for extended periods of time in battle. I'm working on it though!" he added brightly. He smiled at his new partner. he stared arund at his surroundings. The Hologram hadn;t faded and Caleb shivered. -So, this is what it would be like if the Sentinals took over huh?- he thought to himself. Creepy thought, really. Suddenly the job of being an X-man didn't seem that glamourous. -wow, mutants hate us. Humans hate us. crappy job really.- He looked up and noticed Dia staring at him funny. He apologized for seeming so out of it and took a tentative step to make sure he would be able to walk. He was shaking like an infant taking it's first steps, but he would survive. -jeeze, the danger room is no joke- he thought to himself. He suddenly became aware of Dia again. "Well then!" he smiled his infectious smile once more. "shall we go?" |

Dia was stuck to his side in case he needed her help. Even though he said he was alright and was trying to walk around to prove it, that didn't mean she was leaving. No man, woman, or child would be left behind. Not if she could help it. She watched each shaky step, not offering help unless it was needed. Though Dia was tempted to just go up to him anyways. In fact that's what she did. The ashen female proceeded to scoot in closer, even offering him her hand. If he refused then fine."Yeah, we can go." She nodded thinking that leaving was the best idea. "Computer, end program," she commanded and the danger room returned to it's usual plain, dull, boring, gray background. ~~Le Fini~~ |
