It was going to be interesting, living with a roommate for the first time. Ever since she'd been old enough to walk she'd had her own room and bathroom. She'd kept it clean and orderly, but the idea of cramming herself into a room with a complete stranger wasn't sitting too well with her. Still, she wasn't going to condemn this Anne-Lee girl before she even met her.

She hadn't really taken the time to arrange her things when she'd first arrived but decided to get organized now. After folding her clothes and placing them in their respective drawers and tucking her guitar underneath her bed, she unwrapped the new comforter/sheet set she'd bought. A twin bed. Ugh.

Even with the fan whirring above her head she felt herself beginning to heat up and let out a small sigh, moving over to the window unit AC and turning the cold air on full blast. Things might be difficult if her new roommate was one of those cold-natured people. Still, they could always put on a sweater or something; she couldn't exactly peel her skin off.

For a moment she stood infront of the AC, letting the cold air chill her heated skin before returning to making her bed. Her bedspread was chocolate brown with light blue hawaiin type flowers printed into the fabric. It was mostly for looks, though; she never slept with anything more than a top sheet.

It would have been the second time that day where someone would be surprised that a girl her size could be making that much racket. Fuming her 1/2 inch soled Mary Jane’s pounded down the long hallway to where her new room waited. Clearly her new mate would think that she was a lot bigger. Fuming actually wasn't the best description for how furious she was. The thing that she had always kept next to her, had kept safe since it arrived, was taken away. Yes her laptop was probably somewhere under lock and key. Suddenly she stopped for as a realization came to light. With her powers lock and key wouldn't stop her from getting the laptop back. A ruse would be called for but in a few days it would be tucked safely in its secret compartment.

Smiling Anne Lee walked into her new room. Standing below five feet with a nice head of blonde locks and dark brown almost black eyes, Anne Lee couldn't have been happier; as happy as one could be without their prized possession. At last there would be a roof over her head that she hadn't sneaked into to. It was hers and the mate wouldn't stop have anything to say about it as long as she stayed on her side.

Not noticing the other girl she walked over to the bed closest to the door. For some reason the young blonde had a superstition about sleeping next to the window. Taking her antique looking suitcase she set it upon the mattress and opened it. Thinking for a second she gently took out the small black stuff rabbit with the blue jewel on its forehead and placed it upon the plain white pillowcase. Not even a second passed before black and white lace clothing covered the bed. Her room her rules though one of them would be keeping it cleaned.

Something was missing and it was a toothbrush. Anne Lee knew a toothbrush was necessary. Suddenly she shivered as the AC chilled her back. Turning she noticed the taller girl. With a giant smile beginning to introduce herself what she needed popped out of no where landing at her feet. Grimacing she looked back up at her mate. "Do you know anyone who owns a blue toothbrush?" It needed to be returned especially since it was wet. Clearly its owner had just finished using it.

((OOC: Head's up, the headmistress took away her laptop.))

((I did? XDD))

Miranda didn't hear the girl stomping her way down the hall as she flung herself onto her newly made bed, rolling onto her back and staring up at the ceiling. I wonder if we're allowed to paint our rooms, she mused to herself. The place certainly needed some color, something to liven it up. Maybe she could even paint a sky scene on the ceiling...

Her idle thoughts were interrupted as Anne-Lee practically burst into the room and began unpacking her bag. Briefly she arched a brow at her roommates choice of wardrobe, then shrugged it off. Everyone has their own style, right?

Sitting up, she ran her fingers through her hair, tugging it back away from her face. It seemed that they were going to finally get around to introductions, but before either could speak a blue toothbrush popped out of nowhere and landed at Anne Lee's feet.

"Do you know anyone who owns a blue toothbrush?" Peering over the edge of the bed at the toothbrush, Miranda wrinkled her nose slightly when she realized it was still wet. Gently, she shook her head. "No," she replied, sitting back on the bed, her legs crossed indian-style. "Dunno if they'd want it back anywho, seeing as how it's been on the floor now and everything."

Miranda's comment about the toothbrush made Anne Lee go into a fit of giggles. Calming her self slightly she bent down and picked it up carefully not touching the soaking wet bristles. For a few seconds it was hovering over the trashcan before the one holding said 'guess you're right' and dropped it in. Looking back up the small girl turned to the other and smiled. "I'm going to have to buy a new one," she sniggered.

As though ignoring her new room mate Anne Lee walked over to her bed and started to fold her wardrobe. She wasn't trying to be rude she was just figuring out the best way to introduce herself and to tell her of her powers. Once the school knew of them they would be pounding on their door when something went missing. Smiling she conceded to the normal way of introductions.

"I'm Anne Lee," she cheerfully said once again facing Miranda. "You must be my new mate. Glad there only be one of you," she added without explanation. Wondering how what would be the best way to explain her abilities her eyes darted around the room. They first landed on the AC then upon the fan, both of which were still blowing cool air. "You should be happy I was born in a place where being snowed in was a norm. No, I don't mind it being freezing," she ended waiting for the girl's introduction.

((OOC: Yes, you will. How else will she learn?))

((I have my ways =P But if that's how you'd like it to go, fine. Just remember...she steals it back, the penalties are going to be harsher next time XD))

"I'm going to have to buy a new one," she sniggered. Miranda shrugged lightly. "They probably have some extra ones lying around somewhere. I mean, c'mon, it's a school full of teenagers, people are bound to forget things sometimes," she pointed out.

It was evident from her light accent that Miranda had grown up somewhere in Europe, though oddly enough there was a bit of a Brooklyn twang to her words as well, skewing her foreign accent slightly.

"I'm Anne Lee," she cheerfully said once again facing Miranda. "You must be my new mate. Glad there only be one of you," she added without explanation. Miranda blinked slowly in confusion, but didn't bother asking for an explanation. She probably wouldn't understand it anyhow. "I'm Miranda," she replied, then glanced to the AC with a bit of a smile. "Yeah, I kinda have to have it cold or my powers go crazy. Not a pretty picture."

Anne Lee happy that she wouldn't have to buy a toothbrush at last settled down on her own bed. Mirroring her brother she pulled her knees under her chin. Still smiling she had noticed the girl's accent. It didn't bother either but if Miranda questioned her about her own accent she would be mad. She had a tendency to pronounce mountain as moun'in.

Looking at her mate carefully Anne Lee noticed the confused blink. "Last time I had a solid roof over my head I had to share my room with about four other children," she explained calmly. Orphanages usually didn't give the kids their own room and this place, thank goodness, was no orphanage.

"Hello Miranda. It's nice to make your acquaintance," the blonde girl said politely. Once again glancing at the AC she wondered what her mate's powers were and if the whole 'going crazy' thing was a side effect. "Your powers go crazy if you get overheated," she questioned. "The whole toothbrush thing was what happens when my go crazy. My power is want."

"Last time I had a solid roof over my head I had to share my room with about four other children," she explained calmly.. Ah, so that was it. Briefly, Miranda glanced to the ground. She sometimes felt bad for coming from a family like her own when others had so little. Still, the best she could do was appreciate it, thus why she didn't have that stuck-up, snotty personality that so many others from her background did.

"Must've been rough," she replied, picking invisible, non-existent lint off her bedspread. Smiling gently, she looked to Anne Lee. "Sharing a bathroom, fighting over the radio..."

"Your powers go crazy if you get overheated," she questioned. "The whole toothbrush thing was what happens when my go crazy. My power is want." Lightly, she let out a laugh. "That has to come in handy. I know I'd like to materialize myself some chocolate four days out of the month," she added a bit dryly.

For a moment she paused, thinking on how to best explain her powers. If Anne Lee had been a guy, she would've just given a demonstration, but seeing as how that wasn't the case, she decided against it. Miranda just doesn't swing that way.

"Well, y'see, my body constantly produces a lot of energy. If I don't get rid of it I burn up, sometimes literally, and the only way I can get rid of it is to touch people," she explained. "And since it's really not polite or proper to go around poking random people I try to just keep myself cool by keeping the AC on and running fans. Still, my normal body temperature usually runs around 101."

"Must've been rough," Anne Lee smiled. "It was but I managed," she stated wondering whether they had a radio. Misreading Miranda's mannerisms she assumed that the girl sitting in the bed across from her had as bad as a childhood as she had. "So where are you from," she asked trying to set common ground.

Smiling once more she let out a similar laugh a bit more loudly, though. "It does but thank goodness my control has increased so food cravings don’t set of my powers any more. For me it was cupcakes," she added cheerfully.

The small blonde blinked once as her mate described her abilities. ~That's interesting.~ she thought. The producing of excess energy wasn't in her database of known mutant abilities. Once she got her laptop back it would be added under the 'friends' section.

"And since it's really not polite or proper to go around poking random people I try to just keep myself cool by keeping the AC on and running fans." Breaking out in full fledged laughter, not at her mate but the thought of what she just said. "If I had your power that would be something I would be doing. But it would be more fun to randomly shoot people with extra energy who knew that ability because of the looks that would appear upon their faces," she ended her small frame still shaking in invisible giggles. Yep, that would be something she would actually do.

Seeing how the whole introduction thing was going Anne Lee decided to ask another question. "Why did you come here? To the institute I mean."

Ah, the $64,000 question. Leaning back on her pillows she stretched her long legs out infront of her, crossing them at the ankles. "Well, I was born in Italy but I spent a lot of time in New Yorrk," she explained. "My dad's in business and my mom didn't want to be away from him for very long, so we almost always went with him."

Anne Lee's giggles were a bit contagious, and she couldn't help but grin with her. "Sometimes it's fun to shock people, but it's generally not a good idea. You never know who you might be messing with. I mean, what if someone has a pacemaker? I'd feel really bad if I accidentally killed someone," she said.

"Why did you come here? To the institute I mean." She shrugged lightly. "Well, I was doing allright on my own until I shorted out the electrical system in our entire apartment building and then my parents decided that I needed to learn other, better ways to keep my powers under control," she explained, leaving out the casual, promiscuous sex that she also used to cope with all that pent up energy.

No reason to make her roommate think she was a slut right off the bat. She'd find that out soon enough. ((XD))

"What about you?" she inquired, tilting her head to the side a bit in curiousity.

"Italy," Anne Lee repeated with bright shining eyes. "I've never been out of the state really. I made a stop in Canada recently but..." she abruptly stopped and waited a few seconds. No reason to tell anything about that trip yet. "I was born just north of here in the Tug Hill Plateau region, snow and more snow," she added with a laugh.

Putting on a mock look of seriousness her giggles ebbed a bit. "I was only thinking about shocking people like my brother. He's too serious," rolling her eyes she continued. "But I see your point."

Biting her finger Anne Lee tried not to laugh at her mate’s reason for coming. Shorting out an apartment building was no laughing matter. Actually it could be as bad as shocking a person with a pacemaker. That was reason enough for coming to the institute. She didn’t care for any other explanation.

"What about you?" The small blonde slowly moved so her legs were hanging over the edge of the bed, her feet not even coming close to the floor. Taking the black plush rabbit she hugged it once then fiddled around with its blue forehead jewel.

"I could tell you that I only came for control as well. Especially since the last few times my powers lost control I quite literally stole expensive stuff. I returned it all," she hastily added. That was the complete truth. "But my true reason was my brother. I found this school for him. It's not safe for mutants in the world. You and I can hide our mutation but he can't now," she sighed.

Her demeanor changed once more. "He is absolutely adorable now, cute cat ears and tail. Ooh, I just eat him up,” she smiled as she brought her folded hands to her cheek and closed her eyes. Suddenly she folded her hands in her lap and looked at Miranda in the eye. "Yeah, he’s my reason I'm here."

"I've been all over," she murmured, idly twirling a piece of her hair around her finger. "Sometimes I stayed at home while my dad went away, but if he was going to be on longer business trips we usually went with him," she explained. Her passport was practically filled with stamps from foreign countries, but she had to admit she was looking forward to a bit of stability for once. As long as she was at Xavier's she didn't have to worry about hopping from hotel to hotel as her dad traveled.

She leaned back on her pillow, propping herself up against the wall as Anne Lee explained her reason for coming here. Gently, she arched a brow. "Cat ears?" she murmured. "Huh. Imagine that." She hadn't really seen many extreme mutations and cat ears and a tail certainly fell into that category. "So he's younger than you?"

Miranda was glad that she and Anne Lee were getting along, even though they really didn't seem to have much in common other than being mutants. "Y'got any hobbies?" she asked, cocking her head to the side a bit. "Besides, y'know, pulling toothbrushes out of thin air, though I imagine that can be quite entertaining," she added with a grin.

Nodding Anne Lee only perked up when she heard that Miranda had been everywhere. She was so lucky to have a mate who had seen the world. One day she would too but now stability was a good thing; especially since her last home was when she was eight. Home what a wonderful thought.

"Yep, cat ears that stick out of his unruly dusty brown hair," she grinned. She then nodded in agreement. "I'm older almost by a year. You see he was born on October 1st, exactly two months before my first birthday." Dark brown eyes became glazed over as she traced the scar on her face, from beneath her left eye straight down to the jaw bone. It had started to fade only noticeable by those who do a double-take or when her face turned red. Desperately she tried to remember what had happened all those years before on that fateful snowy night.

Completely unaware of any odd action she smiled. "My hobbies," Anne Lee's voice slowly raised. "I like anything and everything pertaining to Anime. Oh I would collect Manga as if there was no mañana if I could afford it," pausing for a breath she continued.

"The computer consumes most of my time. I go on the internet and explore random stuff. If I find something interesting I try to hack into it to find out more. I also chat to people but research is my favorite," gleefully she clapped her hands. By the end of her rant she was on her feet.

The joyful face she wore quickly melted into a look of terror. The small blonde began to yell at herself mentally. The need, the want, to be on her laptop increased and knew full well that her laptop would appear. Needing a distraction completely Anne Lee plopped upon her bed once more. Holding out her hand a cupcake appeared; the best distraction. "Ooh, cupcakes my favorite," she said while thinking ~that was close.~ If the computer was summoned she would have Hades to pay.

Gingerly her tiny fingers began to unwrap it when she glanced to Miranda. "Sorry mate for being rude," she said holding out a second cupcake that she just materialized. "Here you are and what are your hobbies?"

Miranda listened intently to Anne Lee as she delved into her love for anime and computers, neither of which she herself was very interested in. So far she'd found more ways they were different than things they had in common, but that didn't neccessarily mean they were going to end up butting heads over things. So far, they'd been getting along famously.

Of course, they're girls, so that could change in the space of five minutes.

Anne Lee's sudden look of terror caught her off guard and her brows furrowed slightly, wondering just what in the hell she'd started thinking about that made her look that way. She blinked once as a cupcake appeared in the younger girl's hand...surely she wasn't frightened to death by a pastry.

She couldn't help but smile as another cupcake materialized and she took it from her carefully. "Thanks," she said as she peeled off the paper cup, licking a bit of icing from her fingers.

"My hobbies?" she murmured after taking a bite of the cupcake, pausing to think. She wouldn't really call 'getting into trouble' a hobby, so she had to think on that one for a minute. "Well, I play guitar," she finally said, "And I read trashy, girly magazines alot, too," she added with a laugh.

"Girly magazines and guitar, hmm..." Anne Lee paused in thought while she took a bite of her own cupcake. Ooh, it was good kinda like biting into a piece of Heaven. ~Now I just have to find the chef and thank them.~ She thought with a smile before giving her full attention back to Miranda.

"I really haven't had any chance to read magazines. As for the guitar I can play the piano. Mostly classical stuff really," she said as though still in thought. Bringing her knees once again under her chin she decided to explain the look of terror.

"Miranda, I want you to imagine being able to have whatever you want pop out of thin air," the small blonde suggested in air of seriousness. "At first it seems great even useful but after awhile complications happen. It slowly becomes a hassle. Let's just say you must learn to control any whim or want you have and as humans it's nigh impossible to live without wants."

That was the problem right now. After a breath Anne Lee continued. "I was afraid that my laptop would appear. Long story short it’s been taken away and if I take it back, even by accident, I'll be in trouble." She finished staring at the half eaten cupcake in her hand.

Taking yet another bite the techno bug smiled. "Force, what better way to learn control," she added absentmindedly.

Miranda seemed more interested in her cupcake than in what Anne Lee was saying about her powers. She wasn't trying to be rude, she just wasn't one for serious conversations. You start talking about something like that, then the talk turns to feelings...euch. She was almost a guy in that respect. Let's keep it simple.

"Why'd you get your laptop taken up?" she asked, licking a bit of frosting from her fingers. "Are they not allowed or something?" Seemed strange, not allowing computers in a school...

Gently, she shrugged. "I can see why that would be annoying, though," she murmured. "How do you find the person the stuff belongs to?"
