Eldan walked down the bright streets of North Salem, leaving a mall behind. He didn't care for malls. There were too many people, and they were too bright. They hurt his eyes, and his ears. And people stared at him. He was used to that, people staring at him. But more people stared at him during the day, for he appeared even stranger during the day. His delicate eyes and skin forced him to wear heavy clothes to prevent burns and pain. In the end he realized that he had to be wearing dark, heavy cloth from head to foot. And he looked like a Nazgul when it came down to it. People were taken aback, and wondered whether he was playing around.

Ah, well. It didn't matter. He had what he wanted, and he was headed back home. Trailing behind him was three other teens, dressed rebelliously and looking slightly dangeous. They were his... friends? Minions? What did it matter. They followed him, where ever he went it seemed. It was nice, not to be always alone, but it was also annoying. Once in a while he liked to turn into a wraith and leave them behind. They got so upset afterwards but it was worth it...

“Oh, I am soooo not forgetting this!” the young blond haired woman yelled from across the street, backing out of the small dress shop. “I swear, kicking me out just because I’m not up myself enough,” if there was one thing Amara Aquilla couldn’t stand it was the snotty upstart rich people staring down their nose at every other person, thinking them to be lower than low, the scum of the earth. It irked her so much, that she smiled to herself, knowing if Mina ever got wind of it, she’d be in deep trouble, but hey, slight tremors happened in New York all the time, right?

Right?

“Who damn well cares!” she hissed, knowing going full magma was not something to do out in the middle of a public space, however, walking away and acting all innocent at the shop foundations she’d just been in started to shake; as the power she controlled caused the tectonic plates below to shift just that little bit… well, no one could ever prove it was her, now could they.

~Oh, you still have such a rebellious streak Magma,~ she thought to herself. ~Come now, hun, what is a little tremor gonna do ‘cept send them running from the…~ and there it was, panic as those snotty rich people ran from the store, including the employee that had kicked her out simply because she didn’t LOOK rich enough.

She couldn’t help but smile. Now come on, that was fun. They deserved it right?

Right?

“Oh wonderful,” she said to herself. “Now I’ll have to live with an X-Men trained conscious. Damn you Xavier,” she cursed, although her smile showed she didn’t really mean it, that smile soon gone as the faux panic began to show, a clear, “What’s happening? What’s wrong?” look on her face.

OOC: Sorry, strange post.

"El!" the only girl in their little group ran up to him, looking worried. Seemed that there was a slight earthquake. "El, did you do that?" she asked in a low whisper. Her golden eyes peered up at him from a fringe of dark purple hair.

"Of course not, Wren," the young man rolled his pale green eyes at the strange girl. "I don't have that kind of power, you goose. I'm just an energy man." That sounded odd. Ah, well. Wraith was a much better codename if he ever needed such a thing. He looked at the blond girl that had so angrily left the shop that the earthquake had centered around but said nothing of the coincidence. It had to be a coincidence... but wouldn't it be interesting if it wasn't?

The other two - purple haired Riker, and pink haired Bazie - sauntered over, contrasting their extremely pale skin against Wren's dark. It was a pretty little picture. Eldan shook his head, knowing that they were practically posing for the random people scattered around them, and commented, "You three never get bored with that, do you? Ah, well. Get on home, I'll be hungry when I get back." He smirked. Using his powers was real work, and he intended on flying home.

With all the excitement, Amara hadn’t noticed the group across the street… until now, her eyes falling on them as she made her way over to the coffee shop diagonally to the right opposite the dress shop, where the panic was finally starting to die down. Stepping up onto the footpath, and leaning her head to the side, she frowned, “Imagine, wearing such heavy black clothing on a hot day like this. I mean, I know it’s gonna be dark soon, but still,” and she happened to be close enough for the stranger to hear her too.

It suddenly occurred to her that this group were either Goths or, well, hey, noticeable mutants. Wow, being an X-Man really did open up the mind for her. Nice. She considered moving over and saying hello, but then again, they might not be the polite and friendly type. Blue eyes couldn’t help but continue to look at the one in the heavy clothing, and he had to be the leader, the way the other three seemed to be looking to him. Magma imagined it had something to do with her little earthquake fun.

“Oh, hey,” she said, and not before she was made sure no one else was around. ‘Sides, she was close enough to them to say something without having to raise her voice. “It was me,” and with that, she simply grinned, turning away, flicking hair over her shoulders as she did so. No, that wasn’t for added effect either, simply a result of the breeze her rather abrupt turning had caused.

Reaching the coffee shop, she pouted, “Heeeey!” she cried. “You guys don’t shut til 6PM, it’s only 5,” peeking in, she saw it empty. Maybe business had been slow, maybe something had happened… that she certainly hoped not. Stepping back and throwing up her arms, she announced to anyone that was listening, “Damn, this is sooo NOT my day!”

Eldan's lips quirked slightly at the girl's comment about his clothes. Yes, it was hot alright. But it was better than second and third degree burns covering his body. He supposed he could come out only at night and do away with the ringwraith attire, but that wouldn't be any fun. And as much as he loved the night, day had its upsides.

"It was me."

He couldn't believe that she said it so simply, to a group of very strange strangers. Ah, he was right, it wasn't a coincidence. Being proven right was great. He began to say something, he had no idea what, when she just turned around and began walking off. That efficiently cut him off. He shook his head, and asked the trio behind him, "Well? What are you waiting for?" He gave a small smile as they headed off for their car. He was the only one that could barely be considered an adult as he was eighteen. So what if none of them were exactly of age? They could drive, probably better than most. Except for Riker. He was a little speed demon, and it would be suicide to let him behind the wheel of a car. He turned, to remind them not to not let the purple haired boy drive, but they were already gone. He sighed.

“Damn, this is sooo NOT my day!”

Draith, startled by the blond again, wandered over. "Perhaps if there hadn't been a little earthquake, there might be people to take your order? They probably took that as an excuse to take a day off." There was that little quirk of the lips that counted as a smile for him, though it wasn't precisely visible due to his hooded visage. "Eldan Draith, the wraith." The sun dipped behind a building, so he pushed his hood back. He gave her a little mock-bow. "At your service." So he was bored, and felt like being weird.

"Perhaps if there hadn't been a little earthquake, there might be people to take your order? They probably took that as an excuse to take a day off." Magma just quirked a brown at him, one hand moving to rest on her hip. ~So, we have a smarty pants here,~ she thought to herself. She managed to get in, leaning forwards for emphasis, no fear or hesitation in doing so, “Noooo, that is not why they packed up, I just did that, this place looks as if it’s been closed for a while, so, it most certainly is not my fault,” before he introduced himself.

She repeated his name, eyes widening a little as his hood was removed. Okaaay, so now she knew the reason why she’d been looking at him all hooded and such before. ~Why do the cute ones always hide themselves?~ she asked herself, inwardly shrugging. No, no one could ever say Magma held any sort of backward thoughts against the choice of attire many wore, namely, the Goths… oh how some of those guys were just so worth a second look at with their pale skin, black hair, and, whoa…

Amara actually paused, looking intently at Eldan. “Well, those have got to be among the most appealing eyes I have ever seen,” Magma said, clearly not backwards in coming forwards. If she thought someone to be handsome, or even pretty, she’d tell them straight. If they asked her opinion and it may have not been what they’d wanted to hear, she’d still tell them straight. No holding back and possibly sparing their feelings for this particular young woman.

Holding out her hand, she did hope he would shake it. Oooh, wouldn’t it be so heart skipping if he was to kiss the top of it all gentlemanly like. Nah, wouldn’t happen, those kinds of guys went out with the times that sort of greeting for a lady was most popular. “Amara Aquilla. Magma. Lava Loving Mutant,” she began, grinning, actually returning his bow with a curtsey, “at your service too, Eldan Draith, The Wraith,” heck, that rolled off the tongue really well.

"Seems you're right?" Eldan murmured, peering into the shop. "Ah, well. That's strange." He was really one to talk about strangeness. "Wonder what that's about."

“Well, those have got to be among the most appealing eyes I have ever seen.” He lowered those eyes. Perhaps it was because the rest of the Edraitii were like his family, perhaps it was because he usually went around cloaked and hooded, but he was rarely complimented. After a moment he smiled, albeit a small smile, and looked back at her. "Thank you," he said, clearly startled. A strange, very strange, thought passed through his mind. Too bad she's a girl, she's rather pretty. He dismissed it. Useless thoughts like that would clutter his mind...

His smile widened slightly as she played along, after his lead of the bowing and suchlike. His followers took him far too seriously, sometimes, although he had made certain of that from the beginning... but he realized that maybe he shouldn't have been so insistant on remaining seperate from everyone else. It got boring. He shook her hand, as his old teacher had explained was the 'new' custom. "A pleasure to meet you, Amara. I may call you Amara?"

She shrugged at his comment about the coffee shop. She knew as much as he did about why they’d chosen to close early. Her eyes glittered at his reaction to her comment about his eyes. Was he shy, or just one of those people that didn’t know how to respond to a compliment. ”Thank you,” Amara smiled again. “No problem. I speak the truth, you know. They are,” she paused, taking another close look at them. “Very unique.”

"A pleasure to meet you, Amara. I may call you Amara?" she was quite pleased to see, if he was indeed shy, he wasn’t so bad enough to resist returning the gesture. “Of course,” she responded. “Or Mara, whichever you prefer,” she added. “I was going to have a quick coffee break there before heading back home, but, oh well. Ah, your group’s gone? Did you need to catch up with them?” she suddenly seemed a bit apologetic. “I wasn’t deliberately trying to get your attention before, just, you know… bad day and all.”

That was actually the truth. She may have been somewhat drawn to the figure in a dark hood, and probably most likely cos she was curious as all anything to see the face beneath it, but the stressful experiences of her day were definitely true, all starting when someone had the gall to try and steal her purse earlier in her visit to the mall.

"I'm a unique person," Eldan murmured. "I'd show you my power, except that people are unsettled enough as it is by the earthquake. And because.." he giggled suddenly, remembering his usual problem with his power ".. clothes... I'd have to 'borrow' some clothes and find a place to change." He shrugged. "Becoming a wraith has its problems, and one is since I become insubstantial I can't bring anything solid with me." A dramatic sigh. Luckily he wasn't very visible when he was a wraith. At least, not below his torso. Kehehe. Wraith-nes wasn't his only power, energy stealing and expulsion was also quite useful.. and in wraith form he could quite easily fly...

"I could tell, you weren't in a very good mood.... Ah, them. Don't worry about it. Doesn't matter. If I linger long enough, they'll have dinner ready before I get home." He shrugged, then smirked. It was a rather strangely mischievous smirk. "We're vigilantes, so I can't talk about my little group because we are oh-so-secret. See how secret we are, we walk around in broad daylight in such inconspicuous clothing." Yay for friendly sarcasm.

Magma stared, eyes widening the more she just looked at Eldan. Did she just hear him correctly? The way he looked was a result of his X-Gene? When he used his powers he was… naked?! “Oh my goodness!” Amara cried, laughing, cheeks going red. “No, please don’t show me your powers,” and in the back of her mind, ~Oh, please do!~ but she shook that away pretty quickly, because she’d already gotten the feeling he wasn’t interested in her… well, she may have been perceiving wrong.

Normally though, most guys returned the flirting, this one wasn’t.

"We're vigilantes, so I can't talk about my little group because we are oh-so-secret. See how secret we are, we walk around in broad daylight in such inconspicuous clothing," okay, so it was really, really hard to tell if he was serious, or the point about a secret group was just a part of the obvious sarcasm. Yet, she couldn’t help but laugh, “Yes, well, I certainly noticed you,” she said, giving him a genuine smile… no flirting present this time.

Looking past him a little, she finally noticed the darkness ascending pretty quickly. “Ack,” she began, “I didn’t bring my car today, gonna have to walk home in the dark.” Giving him a look, she winked, “Hey, mind being the wraith to watch my back til I get home?” she asked.

Eldan grinned, somewhat self-conciously, as she laughed. It was an odd setback for a mutant. "Alright, I won't..." he chuckled "... though I'm only partially visible when I'm insubstantial. Kinda like a ghost, which is why I ended up with the 'Wraith' name." He shrugged his shoulders, making the dark heavy fabric of his ... robes .... move around. As the sun was low enough not to cause him any damage at all, he undid a few snaps, and his wraith-costume-thing ended up as an unusually long and fluttery cloak. Underneath, boots, black bondage pants, and a plain black t-shirt. He seemed almost like a normal strange teenager. "Ah, but being so noticable makes you less suspicious, if you know how to pull it off."

Eldan said, readily and without hesitation, "I'll watch over you. Don't worry, becoming insubstantial is only part of my mutation - if something does bother you I'll be able to do more than go 'boo' and scare 'em. "Do you-" he stopped speaking immediately. He had heard a voice. A familiar voice. "Oh not now," he moaned. "I hate this guy."

The oh-so-hated guy was none other than Galadrien Dai-Fayerth, better known to the world as Faye, resident Seer of X-Institute and the bane of the Wraith's existence. Luckily he hadn't noticed the leader of the Edraitii. He had been listening to his cell phone, his father on the other end, replying now and again with various expletives. Finally he snarled something unintelligable into it and snapped it shut with a little more force than necessary.

That was when he looked up, and heard the leader of the Edraitii grumbling. He stared blankly for a moment before a devious smile appeared on his face. He ran up to the young man - who was talking to a familiar girl- and tackled him. "EL!" he cried, laughing. "I haven't seen you in days!"

"Ah, but being so noticable makes you less suspicious, if you know how to pull it off,” hmmm, well, that was certainly true, Magma hadn’t thought of that. “Too true,” she agreed, smiling widely as he promised to look out for her. Might be the only chance she had to let him see where she lived too. After all, he might be interested in residing there someday.

His slight pause after "Do you-" made her look at him closely, a worried expression on her face when he continued, "Oh not now… I hate this guy." About to ask him what guy he meant, having not heard the voice herself, the sudden appearance of Faye brought a knowing smile to her face, even as she jumped at his exclamation.

“So, you two know each other then,” she stated, giving Faye a look, and one could never tell if it was a demeaning or curious one with Magma, not when it came to this guy anyway. She’d heard through the grapevine what he was like, but had never actually had the pleasure of being the recipient of what had been explained to her as often annoying behaviour.

“And what in the world are you doing out here tonight anyway, Faye?” she asked, feeling a tad bit more reassured that she now had to guys to watch over her as she walked home. That was, if Eldan was still going to considering his obvious dislike for the overzealous mutant.

JP - Faye & Eldan

"We do. Get off me, you pest," Eldan couldn't pry the bothersome creature off - clinging to him like a limpet. "I thought you'd leave me alone once you joined the x-men, but no..."

Faye smiled brightly at Mara, still not letting the Wraith out of his clutches, "I've seen you around. Magma, right? I know I don't leave the Institute a lot, but it get's boring around there." Very few people would call Xavier's Institute boring, ever. "An old friend told me that they were going to be here, but they left before I got here - 'cept for El here. Why did they leave, El?"

"Lemme go, you perv," Eldan was not the kind of person that was often hugged senseless. "If you don't let go I'll steal your annoying energy and blast you with it." He looked dishevelled, embarrassed, and over all annoyed. "Which one of them told you I'd be here?"

Faye let go immediately, "Wraith's so mean." He pushed a few braids of flame colored hair out of his face and sulked, winking at Magma. He knew how annoying he was and enjoyed pissing people off. Especially Eldan, who was so easy to get agitated. "Hmm.. was it Riker or Bazie? No, it had t've been Wren. Definitely Wren. You know, for a hero you really don't like being worshipped."

"Call me a hero again and you don't wanta know what'll hap'n," El scowled. After a few moments glaring contest, he looked up at Mara and smiled apologetically. "I really hate this guy..."

"I love you too, El!" the red haired guy cracked up as he was knocked into the sidewalk. "You're so easy."

Amara watched Eldan try to pry Faye off, realising just how badly the guy wanted the redhead to get away from him.

"I've seen you around. Magma, right? I know I don't leave the Institute a lot, but it get's boring around there,” now, Amara would have answered the guy, but he continued before she could. In fact, the entire conversation suddenly became between them both alone, the lava loving mutant frowning a little, unable to help but suddenly feel like a third wheel.

Then Faye winked at her, and goodness, that was, well, attractive right there. Shaking her head, Amara realised she was at the point in her life where guys really were on her list of totally-to-look-at. Actually, correction, she’d passed that stage a long time ago, remembering giggling and agreeing with Kitty that Iceman was indeed a looker. ~Geeze, it’s suddenly occurs to me that there are too many nice ones at the mansion,~ she thought, looking at Eldan, ~and outside it, it seems too.~ Just because he hadn’t returned the flirting didn’t mean she would ever stop thinking he was cute.

After a few moments glaring contest, he looked up at Mara and smiled apologetically. "I really hate this guy..."

"I love you too, El!" the red haired guy cracked up as he was knocked into the sidewalk. "You're so easy."

Magma had the sudden urge to back away and, well, leave… doing just that, holding up her hands and saying, with a smirk clear on her face, “Ah, I really don’t want anything to do with this, so, I’ll just walk myself home, okay?” truly though, she was just having a go at them, really, really enjoying this sudden bit of embarrassment combined with annoyance she was witness to right in front of her face.
