The guy watched as Logan passed him and turning around he quirked a brow at Cierien. "Was that your boyfriend?" He asked. Cierien shook her head, a feather light laugh escaping from her pale lips. "No. He's just a guy who learned a hard lesson." Because of the confused look she then received from the guy she explained why she said what she had. "I don't like to be protected. Whether it's because I'm a woman, or because I dress the way I do. I can protect myself." Independence was a strength in her opinion and so she displayed it in any way she possibly could. "Oh I have no doubt you can handle yourself." The man smiled widely. "Indeed. Now as to your offer of coming outside I know I don't look like the smart type but I know better than to be out in the dark with a man whose wearing gloves. They just give off that, 'I'm going to do something to you' feel." Whether that was raping her, mugging her, or getting his so called revenge. She wasn't a complete fool. It wasn't that Cierien was ungrateful that someone actually cared but rather she found his story a little hard to believe. That because she was a woman dressed as she was then his 'protective' side had an automatic alarm that went off. Not to mention the fact she was willing to play pool with him that made her an automatic non-stranger. Such things did not compute with the auburn haired beauty. It was because of that alone that she acted the way she did. She didn't need friends and wasn't about to go out of her way to make any. |

As he placed his helmet on, he just rolled his eyes at what he was overhearing. She was so full of herself Logan was beginning to wonder how she managed to stay upright, with all that heaviness of “I’m oh so good, I don’t need protecting, I’ll dress however the hell I want” floating around in her brain. As he revved the engine, there was a part of him that hesitated. Whatever her reasons for not believing him; for reacting to him the way she did, it didn’t change the fact Logan was who he was… now. And after this… no, she was wrong, he hadn’t learned a hard lesson… he’d proven to himself what Charles had said so long ago, “You want to care Logan, you want to protect them. I can see it, whether you want to believe it or not.” Backing the bike out of the alleyway, he didn’t even look in Cierien’s direction, just turned onto the now deserted road, and drove away. And he was smiling behind that helmet, all his anger dissipated with the voice of the Professor in his mind. To hell with whether she thought she didn’t need protecting; to hell with whether she was so far up herself she would find it very hard to come back down. He’d just opened up, tried to help, and whether the other party accepted it or not, he was damn proud of himself right now.
