Alrighty. Me and Jean and several others were bouncing around some ideas, and we came up with a little side plot for the students back at the mansion. See, the students won't be allowed to fight, so here's something that they can do. Rosie's parents are obviously pretty stubborn, and they'll be returning to the mansion to try and snatch her away again. It'll be up to the students to keep her safe. Any thoughts or volunteers? ^_^ Edit: I'm keeping a list in this post to keep up with everyone involved. ^_^ Characters Involved Dazzler |

Punches from the Punch Dimension
|
Dinner at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters was never an easy operation. Originally when he was the first of Xavier's student, things were simple. He and the Professor ate together, often in silence, since Scott had been so uncomfortable with socialization, and there had been no muss, no fuss. Scott ate what he was given and never complained. It wasn't until the school began to grow that things began to get compex. This student was allergic to milk, this one was a vegetarian, this one's religion said not to eat pork. Scott was infinitely glad that his sole duties regarding meal time were the shopping trips for supplies, which were rotated amongst several of the staff members anyhow. After all, it was not as if he didn't do enough around here, right? Tonight they were having shepherd's pie, or at least he assumed that's what this had started out as. Remy, who supervised the little bit of cooking he did not do, was cajun after all, and it showed through in his seasoning. It was not bad, not at all, but it was definitely different. Scott sat in the place where he usually sat, had always sat without fail since he was just a student here. Now, of course, Jean sat one seat over and Rosie sat in the middle and though she was old enough to eat by herself, she was apparantly not old enough to get more food in her belly then outside it. How on earth did she get peas in her ears? There weren't even peas in the pie. Very much the doting father, Scott wiped Rosie's face and said, fondly, "You gotta try better, Rosie Posie. You'll starve if you don't get more than one bite in your mouth." He picked up a sticky hand and pretended to nibble on her fingers, "MMM, but it sure makes Rosie taste yummy to have catsup all over." |

The windrider walked through the empty hallway leading to the dining hall. She smiled as she reflected on times past. When she had first come to the school there hadn't been nearly as many as now, and things were closer. It was more of a familial atmosphere then, and now; well, she barely knew anyone anymore, and those she knew, she hadn't spoken to. Well, She hadn't really been in a mood to talk to people. But of course, Xavier wouldn't want her to be in complete solitude over his dissappearance. It was time she became the Ororo that everyone knew her to be. She walked into the the dining hall, and immediately her eyes fell on Scott, and the little todler that was quite the sensation in the mansion, Rosie. It was interesting to see Scott act so paternal. She had always known him as the Stern leader, and thus, to see him being so nice and affectionate to a little girl was almost hillarious to the weather manipulator. "Well it's nice to see that you have another side beyond stern." she joked as she walked over and took her seat, immediately beginning to dig into the pie. It was delicious, and although it was a bit different, it was still mouth-wateringly good. "It's good to see you again Scott." she said, nodding toward him between bites. She was obviously referring to her time when she had been absent from the mansion. "it seems that things change quite quickly around here." she said, her eyes reaching flickering to Rosie's, as a small smile crept onto her lips. Yes, it was a fairly good attempt for Ororo to once again get back in the swing of things with all the rest of the X-men, but it was an attempt nonetheless, and she was willing to do it. After all, she was one of the leaders of the team alongside Jean, Scott, and Logan. It was time to come back to her place. |

To be perfectly honest, it would be an exaggeration to even say that Rosie got half of the contents of her plate into her mouth. Oh, it was delicious -- as toddlers came, Rosie wasn't the pickiest of little girls -- but the fact that she was sitting between two people that she loved made it almost impossible to eat. She kept getting distracted and missing her mouth with her fork, or laughing out loud and getting food halfway across the table. Scott pretending to eat her fingers was one of those cases. Giggilng like mad, Rosie wiggled in her booster seat, trying to squirm away from her surrogate father's playful actions. Finally, she settled down, breathing hard, and grinned at those all around her. The ketchup all around her mouth completed the image of a little angel perfectly. If anyone had seen her at that moment, it would probably come as a shock to them that she was a mutant. When Ororo came into the room, Rosie was busy asking Jean if she could play with Meghan the following day. At the woman's arrival, Rosie tilted her head curiously to the side. "Hiya." She chirped. "I's Rosie." She watched Ororo curiously for a long moment, sucking on her ketchup-covered thumb, then piped up, "Your hair's real pretty. Kinda like...mashmallows." At the memory of s'mores, Rosie licked her lips, but then her attention wandered elsewhere. That was Rosie: attention span of goldfish. "Are ya a mutant too?" She wanted to know, sticking her finger into the bowl and swirling it idly. "'cause Mama an' Papa 'n' Auntie Mina is. But ya'd be kewl even if ya wasn't." Nodding importantly, Rosie gave her fingers a final slurp and looked around the dining hall. wondering if Meghan or Val were going to come. |

Stone Touch / Super Strength
|
Jayson walked roughly into the dining hall. By the way she moved, forceful steps and heavy breathing, one could guess that she wasn't all to happy. In fact the stone-turner had a disagreement with someone and though she went to the gym to cool off it still did not calm her. Pulling a chair away from the table the stone-turner plopped into it. At that moment she didn't even care the type of food was being served. Was she even hungry? Still not caring she picked up the plate in front of her and dumped a pile of the shepherd’s pie onto it. Bringing it to her nose she sniffed it trying to guess its contents but without success she shrugged. It didn't matter either way for she knew she would eat it even if she never liked the food. Setting the plate back down upon the table not paying any attention Jayson accidentally broke the plate in two. She also made the table shake which caused some of the glasses to tip dangerously threatening to spill. Lucky for her and everyone else they did not. It was odd because she began to eat not noticing that the shepherd’s pie was now leaking nicely onto the table cloth. "Are ya a mutant too?" Though this statement wasn't directed at her she looked up anyways. "Aren't cha a cutie," she smiled at Rosie. "So how you enjoying this ah... wonderful meal," she joked seeing that the little girl was a mess. At last the stone-turner looked up to see who was gathered. She smiled welcomingly at Storm and Jean but when she saw Cyclops her smile faded slightly. "Heya boss," Jayson said to Scott. "I have been procrastinating as usual on practicing my powers so I hope next team meet doesn't go that bad." It was common knowledge that she could not always control her 'super strength;' case and point her broken dinner plate. So her team leader had given her some sort of training exercise that of course she just plain ignored. Anyways why would she worry about something so trivial when there were other things to occupy her mind? Like dinner and those who were eating. |

Ari strode towards the dining hall, her arms stretching out behind her head. She felt stiff and realized it was never a good idea to sit at her computer desk for several hours without a break. Groaning slightly, her shoulders pressed back, the muscle sore underneath. She was glad it was dinnertime. Her stomach had been grumbling hungrily for the past hour, and she was tired of staring at her monitor screen. It would definitely be good to see some people. "Hi guys," said Ari conversationally as she neared the table, her dark eyes looking over the crew that had gathered. She passed by Rosie and kissed her forehead, her tone joking, "You might want to try aiming for your mouth, Rosie love." Spotting Jayson's dripping plate, Ari's hands instinctively created another. This one a pretty, clear blue-green, near-replica of the one Jayson had broken, though thicker and more durable. "Here Jayson, your food is mucking up the table cloth," she said with a chuckle, placing the new plate on the table. She slid into a seat beside Jean, compimenting the older woman honestly, "Hi Jean. You're looking really nice." Indeed, the redhead seemed to radiate in the light of the dining room. Ari chalked it off to being in love because Scott looked better than usual too. Looking towards her team leader, Ari smiled, "How are you this evening Ororo? Is the food any good?" If resident chef Remy had prepared it, she was sure it would be. Spooning a good amount onto a plate, she tasted a forkful. In her opinion, it was very tasty. It had just the right amount of kick in the spices, but it wasn't burning her throat off, which was just how she liked it. Ari might be a craptacular cook, but she had strong tastebuds and knew how to enjoy other people's creations. If concentrating, she sometimes had a knack for picking out what ingredients might have been used. Unfortunately, she was also a fast eater, and before even a few minutes had passed, she was already half-way into her meal. It was something she hated, often mentally telling herself to slow down. Talking helped, because it gave her mouth something else to do. But if not, she'd be finished before anyone else at the table...and she'd been last to arrive. |

For the first time in a long time, Kate was wearing a short-sleeved tee-shirt. Granted, it may not have seemed like a big deal, but for Kate it was a massive step in the direction of being unashamed of her powers. Now, as she approached the dining room for her first sit-down meal at the mansion, Kate wondered just how the others would take her appearance. Rubbing her suddenly purple arm nervously, Kate stepped through the door and looked around the dining room, feeling like the proverbial new kid at school, looking for a place to eat. Finally she spotted an empty seat across the table from Jean and Scott, and the little girl that she'd seen at the bonfire, and made a beeline for the seat. "Hey." Kate blushed as she slipped into place and studied the food on the table. Out of habit, one hand went to pull down her sleeve, and when it met only skin, the hand dropped to her lap. She smiled nervously at the others that she hadn't met, then reached out for a plate and a helping of the Shepherd's Pie. "Is it always this quiet?" She asked, digging her fork into the food -- which, she was suprised, smelled absolutely delicious. She'd been expecting cafeteria food, but this was about as far as one could get from greasy pizza or mystery meat. "I mean....it's a big school, I thought it'd be a lot louder than this." Kate took a large bite, and sighed happily when the taste proved itself good. Now all she had to worry about was suddenly turning blue in the middle of dinner, but that seemed like a minor problem at best now that she had a seat and hadn't been shunned. |

Iceman walked along the hallway from his room, his hands behind his head, a slight smile on his face. Ever since getting close to Kitty, He felt happy, calm, and yet at the same time even more boisturous than he was used to. Something about her just made him happier than he had ever felt with anyone else he had dated, and he had dated ALOT of women. There was something special about Kitty, of this he knew, and it made him feel incredibly lucky that he was with her. He had spent the day napping, lounging around, and just taking a break from everything in General. It was his way of Detoxification from life, and when he didn't get it, he became grumpy, and much more prne to freezing people without a second thought. Luckily, he was able to get his detoxification in today without any bother. Now he was headed toward the dining hall for some of the Cajun's dinner, and he knew it was likely to be a flavorful adventure in eating. He walked in and immediately noticed that there weren't manypeople around the table. Were they all out? was there a party that someoen didn't inform him of? He shrugged his shoulders and walked into the room confidently, before sitting down next to Storm, a wide smile erupting on his face, giving him a more charming look that one would ever expect out of a human being. "The windrider is home!Hey there 'Ro, it's been forever!" he turned and looked at Jean, and Scott, proud adoptive parents to the little girl that Scott was being so affectionate with. "Hey guys! and hello to you too missy!" said Bobby, smiling at Rosie. He immediately began to shovel shepherd's pie onto his plate, when in walked Kate. She made her way over to a chair and began to get some food. Before Bobby could properly introduce himself, she spoke up. "Is it always this quiet?" "Not when the Iceman's Around!" said Bobby Happily, taking a bite of his pie. He swallowed what was in his mouth, then continued. "and I'm sure the other's will vouche for that." he gave a hearty laugh and leaned back, to look around at everyone else who was gathered. He noticed Ari, and he nodded to her. "Hey there Ari. How are you doing this wonderful evening?" he said joyously, before returning to his meal. It sure was great to be Iceman today. |

Warren jogged quickly down the stairs towards the dinning room, knowing that once again he was late, only recently able to dig himself out of the avalanche of paperwork that seemed to have fallen his way recently. Slowing to a quick walk he entered the corridor that lead to the dinning room, seeing a young girl enter the room just ahead of him. He walked into the room a moment after her and set about finding a seat, a plate and some food. He rolled his eyes good naturedly as he heard Bobby spreading his unique brand of hyper. “Evening all.” He said, giving a general smile to everyone at the table, those he knew and those he didn’t as he looked for a seat. His blue eyed gaze moved almost immediately to a familiar figure with a shock of white hair. “Ro! Hey, I didn’t know you were back.” He exclaimed, laying a hand on the beautiful weather manipulating mutant’s shoulder. “How have you been?” he asked as he dropped into a seat near by. Almost the second he’d sat down, the phone in his trouser pocket began to vibrate against his leg. Still listening to the woman’s reply, he fished the phone out quickly and checked the user I-D. No one he really wanted to talk to at the moment but definitely a business orientated call. He glanced around the table, remembering one of the other X-Men dumping his phone in the water jug once so he’d stop jumping up and down from the table to answer calls. He chose to not risk his phone taking another dunking and switched it off, slipping it back in his pocket. If it was anything important, they’d leave a message. Besides, dinner time was usually the only time he actually got to see most of the people he was close to at the Mansion. Reaching for a plate, he added a small portion of food, finding that although the dinner smelled amazing, he was not that hungry. Sheppard’s pie was really not his thing. Looking casually around the room, did a slight double take as he noticed the tomato ketchup and food coating and surrounding Rosie. How could someone so small make such a massive mess? He certainly didn’t envy Scott that particular task of cleaning her up though his friend seemed perfectly content in that role. He shook his head, an amused smile on his lips and concentrated on eating something so he wouldn’t end up on a midnight snack run later on. |

Fumbling into the dining room a rather embarrassed smile leaked across her face as her cheeks became dangerously black. It was almost the same black as charred flesh if not darker. Taking a plate she placed a rather small amount of the Shepard's Pie onto it. For one reason or another while everyone was busy socializing and whatnot Dia's own communications with others had stopped. The main reason being she hadn't been feeling so well. That every time she even thought about food it made her feel nauseated. Though with the full knowledge that her stomach needed something to attack with it's acidity she did eat. Yet every time she ate she felt bloated and ready to burst. Shrugging it off as just a minor set back probably due to the whole 'metal mixed with her blood' factor Dia had been slowly recovering. She was now at the point of actually being able to eat again, though usually was restricted to one meal. On very good days she could have two meals. On excellent days she could even snack. But on the bad days..... Not being one to be put down for very long due to wanting to try to, at least, push against all the bad things that could and would happen. Finding a seat she smiled to the others opening her mouth, "hello." Her voice was rather soft and dainty. Seeing how the others were involved in speaking to one another or with their meals she didn't wish to interrupt. Being brought up in a 'rude-free' environment probably labeled her manners as being strict and uptight. With her invisible powers wrapping around the silverware the fork lifted and traveled to her right hand which gripped onto it tightly. |

Telepathy, Telekinesis
|
When eating with Rosie, Jean thanked her lucky stars that she had telekinesis; it kept the mess at least partially contained. Personally, she blamed Scott for that; if he was actually as dull and boring as people thought, Rosie wouldn’t get as distracted. But she couldn’t stop them, even if she had wanted to, Scott and Rosie interacting was a show worth watching, even if the price of admission was cleaning up the floor afterward. It had started with just the three of them; it still amazed her how easily and quickly their lives had gone from just the two of them, to a family of three. Rosie had turned to her mismatched eyes up to Jean and asked if she could go play with Meghan. Honestly, how could she say ‘no’? Jean Grey was not a woman known for her hard-edge. “Alright, if you’re very good and eat at least three more bites,” she pointed to Rosie’s plate, “this one… this one… and that one, I’ll take both of you up to the lake. I’ll even make you waterslide.” Jean used her telekinesis to shape the red Kool-aid in Rosie’s cup into a lazy corkscrew. Rosie probably could swim well but they could deal with that tomorrow. One by one, people filtered in. She turned at Ari’s compliment and beamed at her, she was the happiest she ever been. “Thanks, Ari… I think it’s the company I’ve been keeping lately.” Being the art teacher, and with one of her best students beside her, she couldn’t help talking shop. “I had a look at your newest creation - very fine work… I was wondering if you’d tried working in concert with Dia, incorporating some of her metal inside your glass? I think you two could come up with some amazing effects.” She greeted everyone with a smile and hello but was especially pleased to see Kate; the girl was still obviously self-conscious about changing colors but she was learning to overcome it. “Hi, Kate. Big? I suppose,” she grinned conspiratorially, “but wait ‘til you try to find a moment’s peace… then you’ll see how crowded it can be.” Her eyes followed Warren and Bobby, who’d followed her in. “And how small… it can drive you into doing some interesting things, right, Warren?” She grinned and ate another bite of the pie, “like… being so restless and stir-crazy that you come up with an idea to see the town… by air. All it takes is tying a rope around your middle and then have a couple of friends hold onto the end… voila: instant Angel kite, as long as you fly high enough so that no one can really see you.” She paused and then added casually, while trying to suppress a grin, “And as long as your friends think to watch out for trees and power lines.” |

Temperature manipulation/Life-force absorption/Fear projection
|
Lou watched as the residents filtered into what could be the main hub of the mansion. Actually anywhere food was offered could be called that. The teacher, as usual, had been the first to arrive but not wanting to disrupt anyone's peaceful meal she had decided to sit at the very end of the table. So far no one had noticed her lone figure. So silently she ate the pie. It was delicious to say the least. Finally after years of running at least one good meal reached the fear-bringers stomach. Focusing on other things besides eating wasn't the best idea because a dab of gravy fell onto her black shirt. Thoughts beyond thoughts played repeatedly through the restless mind of someone who needed peace and yet could not achieve it. Sighing Lou looked up finally. Everyone seemed happy even the color changing child. Rosie of course was becoming the happy center of attention. Even Scott seemed less like his stiff self. Maybe she should join them. It would be easy just stand up, grab the half-filled plate of food, and walk over. ~I’ll do it,~ she thought with enough zest. However something on her shirt seemed cold. "Oh, shoe," the lone figure exclaimed as she grabbed a napkin to wipe away the dribble. Dark grey eyes widened as they stared once more at those eating joyfully. They probably were looking her way now. Shrugging the dark haired teacher stood. Stooping a bit her pale hand picked up the remnants of her meal and her drink as a booted foot pushed in the chair. Walking as if she owned the place booted feet brought her to a free seat next to Warren. "An Angel kite?" Lou questioned with a nodded while settling in. "That would be a joyful sight to be seein'." The tone of her voice was as if she was talking to long time friends. No one except maybe Jean would know of the torment her mind was still reeling. Looking around the table she nodded and smiled to each and everyone before tucking in once more into the pie. |

Punches from the Punch Dimension
|
"Well it's nice to see that you have another side beyond stern." A voice, rich and full, but warm like the African sun. The Wind Rider had returned and Scott, got to his feet immediately, pulling out a chair for her. Ororo Munroe was grace personified, and as a student, he'd dreamt more than once of her dark skin and white hair. Of course, he dreamt of Jean far more, just in case she was listening to his mind at the point. Ororo had been one of those, who, like himself, had taken a small leave of absence after the Professor's death. But, the school could not be ignored for long. It pulled you back, and welcomed you home. He smiled at Rosie and said, "Well, I'm a man of many colors. Scarlet, rose, crimson..." He chuckled and wiped Rosie's face. "It's good to see you again Scott, it seems that things change quite quickly around here." "Yes, they do, sometimes too quickly." Scott said, "But we make do." He retook his seat once she had sat down. "Everyone's coming back. It's nice, old home week. Rosie, this is Ororo Munroe, a friend of Mama's and Papa's. Can you say hi?" "Hiya." She chirped. "I's Rosie....Your hair's real pretty. Kinda like...mashmallows." At the memory of s'mores, Rosie licked her lips, but then her attention wandered elsewhere. "Are ya a mutant too?" She wanted to know, sticking her finger into the bowl and swirling it idly. "'cause Mama an' Papa 'n' Auntie Mina is. But ya'd be kewl even if ya wasn't." "Rosie!" Scott scolded, fondly, pulling the girl's fingers out of her bowl, and wiping them with a napkin. "A fork, young lady, not your fingers." He handed her the brightly colored molded rubber... spork and said, "You're wasting all this nice food. And, yes, Ororo is a mutant too. She can change the weather. If you are very nice to her, she'll make sure you have a white Christmas and a sunny summer." At that moment, Jayson showed up and of course, having been slacking on her homework, she had problems with her strength. "Heya boss," Jayson said to Scott. "I have been procrastinating as usual on practicing my powers so I hope next team meet doesn't go that bad." Scott looked at her, sternly, his mask of stoic leader-man slipping over his features, "Now, Ms. Mink, you know what we discussed. If you don't start practicing with it more regularly and getting it under control, we'll have to find a way to regulate it. I'm sure you don't want to wear a monitoring device. If there's a problem with your training sessions, come and see me tomorrow and we'll work on making them more interesting to you if we have to." Soon, Ari joined them, followed closely by Kate. It was good to see how open some of the older children were, teasing each other good naturedly, just like he and Warren did so often. Xavier's really was more than just a school for so many of them, Scott included. It was a home, the only home many of them had. No one commented on Kate's skin, which was some inhuman color that Scott could not discern, but did not match anyone else's and, in fact, they simply accepted it, like they did Warren's wings, his own glasses. This was the beauty of this place and not for the first time did Scott thank God the Professor had made him a part of it. Jean started teasing Warren about the time they had tied him up like a kite as a joke, and that even managed to bring Lou over, which was in and of itself a miracle, when suddenly something struck Scott between the eyes. Screams and a rain of blood, and explosions and murder at... at where? Who was... Alix! Sending him a horrible message, the FOH attacked... by Magneto's Brotherhood.... He rose quickly, his face completely calm, though his grimness had overtaken him again. Had he been the Professor he'd summon his team with a bold "To me, my X-Men!" broadcast across their mental airwaves. He was not Xavier, but he was still Cyclops, and there were some who that that almost as good, not he himself, but some. ::Jean, summon the X-Men to my office, please. Something is happening. We need to move.:: He looked around the table and said, "Avery, something has come up. Could you take babysitting duty please? Jean, Warren, Bobby, Ororo, I need you please in my office, immediately." He turned on his heel and head off to his office, expecting them to follow. |

Avery, of course, had been there all along, eating quietly at the dinner table. It was a rare occasion actually, her body’s designed kept her from hardly ever being hungry as well as rejected any meat products horribly. Not being overly fond of vegeterian meals, she frequently skipped the ‘family’ meals. But today she enjoyed the company of the students and teachers. She smiled and listened to everyone chatter as she ate a salad. Scott’s quick rise had caused her attention to fall on him, his sudden grave face told her it was something of great concern. He looked around the table and said, "Avery, something has come up. Could you take babysitting duty please? Jean, Warren, Bobby, Ororo, I need you please in my office, immediately." Avery nodded, a calm expression masked her face despite knowing, like everyone else did, that something was up. Noting some of the names he called upon only confirmed that whatever it was, was a pressing matter. But he was a x-man and this sort of thing came with the job. Everything else at the institute would go on as normal. “Sure thing...” The elven replied with a light smile. “Shouldn’t be a problem..” Having said that she watch the others who’d been called upon, rise and follow Scott. She then continued to eat her salad as if nothing was going on. She would stay here and look after the younger ones and wait for them to return. That was what she had always planned out for herself. She was needed there the most... Little did she know that she would be eating her words later that night. |
