Everything was going perfect tonight. She got to see Jean, Warren, Scott, Bobby, as well as others who she didn't know. It was nice to see the gang nearly all back together again. It made her smile. "Hello to you too Jean. It's been awhile, hasn't it?" she remarked, a small smile gracing her lips. "The windrider is home!Hey there 'Ro, it's been forever!" Storm smiled at Bobby's comment, and she shook her head in Mock exhasperation. "Bobby Drake... You haven't changed a bit." she said with a wink. Although she made certain that the wink would not be one that would suggest anything... she knew better then to tease the Iceman. “Ro! Hey, I didn’t know you were back.” He exclaimed, laying a hand on the beautiful weather manipulating mutant’s shoulder. “How have you been?” he asked as he dropped into a seat near by. "warren... I am glad to see you! I've been okay, just out... for my health. And my Sanity of course." she said, biting into her shepherd's pie again, and relishing the taste. Warren was always a great friend to have around, and she was more than happy he was here with them. She was just about to answer Rosie's question when Scott answered for her. she tsk'ed him and said in a mock stern voice worthy of Cyclops himself. "Now, now Scott, I can describe my own powers." and she gave a small tinkle of laughter, light yet elegant. She leaned in and looked at Rosie directly, her eyes dancing. "What you're papa says is right, hun, I can make it snow, and rain, and I can make it sunny..." she trailed off, and looked over at the girl who had entered. "why Hello, my fellow white haired mutant." she said with a smile at the girl who was trying to remain invisible. Her eyes followed the woman named Lou, who had come over, and began to speak to them as if they were all old friends. Frankly, Storm didn't know a thing about her, but she was willing to extend a warm welcome. "how do you do. Miss Tringum, I believe?" she asked in the same refined tone she was famous for. "I heard you are a recent adition to our X-men and to our staff. It's a pleasure to meet you." she said matter of factly, giving Lou her warm smile. Suddenly a grim expression overcame Cyclops for the first time in the entire meal. Storm was sitting there, about to ask Scott what was wrong, when he suddenly summoned herself, along with the other old members, to his office. Ororo Didn't question, but immediately stood up and looked over to Ari. "My dear Ms. Boyd, You are a Junior X-man. I know you have proven yourself in recent events surrounding Ms. Smith and Rosie in the park, and for that, I give you the option of coming with us to the office to get briefed." she winked at Ari and wuickly trotted after Scott, coming slow down and walk right next to him, her eyes not leaving his face. "what's going on Scott? I know that look..." |

Avery and Jenn’s reception of Warren at the bonfire showed her that, although the older, long-term residents readily accepted him back as though he’d never left; his sparse visits in the recent years had made him a stranger to the younger members and students though. They saw the charming demeanor, impossibly handsome face, and everyone knew the Worthington fame and power. She smiled as Lou joined them; the Angel Kite story was working. She hadn’t brought up that old business to embarrass him but to make him more real in their eyes. And unlike most playboys, who were emotionally insecure and had the depth of a shallow puddle, Jean knew that his self-esteem wouldn’t even be scuffed by it. However, the laughing died when Scott sudden became serious and stood. She peered into his mind through the open channel they shared and instantly knew. He called to Avery to take care Rosie and there was no one Jean would rather trust; she’d seen that for herself in the Morlock tunnels. Jean kissed Rosie’s head, “Mama and Papa love you. We’ll be back as soon as we can.” She looked over at Avery and gave her a confident nod. She left with the others, sending out a general broadcast message to all X-Men, disregarding the ones with her and the young students who would stay behind. All the blood and bodies of the town swam in her mind. :: Emergency…. This is a priority level One situation…. Report to Cyclops’ office immediately. :: |

Ari smiled easily at Jean's comment, resisting a glance at Scott and Rosie. Obviously, the three of them were like a family, and Jean had taken to it quite easily. The brunette was quite thrilled at Jean's compliment and her face seemed to brighten, "Thanks Jean!" Casting a look at Dia, as if seeing her in a new light, she didn't know why she'd never thought of trying something like that. "That's a really good idea Jean... She smiled warmly at all of the people that entered, joining the dinner table for a meal. It felt so good to be surrounded by everyone, and she knew that these people were more like her family than her own parents. She loved her parents, but honestly, her ties to the people surrounding her had grown strong in the past few years. At Kate's question and Bobby's response, Ari laughed, "Yeah, I'll vouch on Bobby's behalf..." Flashing him a smile, Ari finished off her plate of food, once again, downing it too quickly. "Pretty good thanks. Need I ask how you're doing?" she joked, referring to his seemingly good mood. Sitting back against the chair, she took in a sip of water, nearly spitting it out as Jean joked about making a Warren kite. Momentarily, she wondered how something like that would work. She'd never been flying herself, since she didn't possess the ability. It was something she was curious about, and might even want to try if given the opportunity. However, she was afraid of open heights and wasn't sure how well that might work out. When Scott began summoning everyone, Ari looked up in concern. Listening as he listed off the members he was wanting to speak with. At Ororo's words, Ari felt a swell of pride in her chest, a half smile making its way to her face. "Thank you, Storm..." she said gratefully, wanting to continue proving herself. However, something kept her from running out with the others. A thought had dawned on her and was keeping her rooted in place. If they all left, all of the Junior and Senior X-Men, the rest of the Institute's students would be left alone. Usually, that would be okay with her. But this time, it felt like an odd thought. "Next time, definitely," she replied suddenly, giving a nod. For now, she would be content to stay with Avery, Rosie, and the others, keeping them company. "Good luck guys," she said, as the crew exited. |

Rosie hastily withdrew her fingers from the bowl when Scott scolded her gently, pouting ever-so-slightly. "I was gonna eat it..." She whined, her tone just a bit petulant (obviously it was nearing her bedtime) but the little girl couldn't help but giggle when Scott started wiping her down. "You c'n change the weather?" Rosie asked curiously, after Scott had finally finished with her sticky fingers. She gripped her spork tightly, taking a careful bite of pie with it, but she longed to ditch it and just use her fingers. It just made life so much simpler... She was grinning at all the other people who had wandered in when her papa got a look on his face that made Rosie think a bug had just crawled into his pants, or something. She opened her mouth to say something, nevermind the half-chewed food still in it, but before she could inquire Scott had stood up out of his chair and was striding away. Swallowing hastily, Rosie dropped her spoon. She may have only been three, but she could tell that something was definitely the matter. Even her mama seemed worried, and Rosie had never seen her anything but calm. Now worried herself, Rosie bit her lower lip, extending her arms in the direction of Avery and Ari, asking to be let out. "Wha-what's goin' on?" Rosie whimpered, only a little comforted by Jean's reassurance as she left. Gulping, and having quite forgotten the food that lay in front of her, Rosie just wanted an explanation. |

Mina had been just about to leave her office to join the others at dinner when the same images that had been broadcasted to Scott entered her mind and her steps faltered as she struggled to make sense of it all. Blood, there was so much blood, and suddenly it all seemed to click into place thanks to Alix’s help. She was really going to have to talk to her about not breaking into someone’s thoughts so…abruptly, maybe have Jean help her with that. She left her office and began heading towards the dining hall just as Scott and Storm were heading towards his office, and from the look on his face she could tell he’d gotten the same images she had. There was no question that action needed to be taken, and that they had limited time to do it. Forget the war room and a full out briefing, they needed to go. She met Scott and the others at the door to his office and followed them in, positioning herself near the corner of the desk, crossing her arms over her chest. “There’s been an attack in Stafford,” she explained, looking to the rest of the X-men. “The Brotherhood has launched an assault on the Friends of Humanity headquarters. We need to move, and fast.” At that she paused, looking to Scott. “So,” she said, arching a brow gently. “What’s our plan?” And just like that she passed the reins over to Scott. Ever since they’d had that little talk in her office about his brother she could tell he was having trouble finding his place as one of the leaders at the school. He might not have said it out loud, but she could just tell that he was worried he didn’t have the respect he used to, that he was losing his place in their ranks. Mina was Headmistress. Scott was Field Leader. And while she had her own opinions on how things should be done at times, she was deferring to him in this instance. He needed the chance to re-assert himself into the hierarchy of the school, and Mina was giving it to him. |

Warren looked up at Jean and rolled his eyes in amused annoyance as she mentioned the Angel kite incident. Really he didn't mind her bringing in tales of their mis-spent youth, he quite enjoyed reminiscing and it made the faculty seem a little less untouchable in general if the students knew they'd done the same silly things they now had to reprimand others for doing. As Lou came to sit down next to him, Warren shifted slightly in his seat, giving her broad smile. "I don't know about joyful. I'm told it was definitely entertaining to watch though" he replied. It was good that she had decided to join in the conversation. He had noticed her often around the Mansion, usually by herself, seemingly trying to melt into the background or at least distance herself from people. He glanced over at Jean, wondering if that was perhaps her purpose. She had always been good at that kind of thing and had a special talent for making it subtle. His gaze moved to Scott, becoming serious as he saw the expression on his friends face. Something was definitely wrong. As Scott ordered the senior X-men to his office. Concern showed plainly on the winged mutants face as he stood up, giving Lou an apologetic look. Following the others out, he glanced back at the table, no bereft of a large chunk of the people who had been there and he felt deeply uneasy, a feeling that stayed with him as he entered the corridor that led to Scott's office. |

As long as she had some metal to work with she could do what Jean suggested. The truth was that the ashen female had never thought to do anything like that before or even to use her powers in that way. Dia did like to do artistic things like molding and through the small bits of practice here and there it could be seen. Dia had a good potential, especially when it came to her abilities, to be quite artistic if not at least have a creative flare. With the senior x-men rising Dia humbly continued to eat in silence. The pit of her stomach already was trying to tell her she had eaten too much when all she had at most was ten bits, each of which were small and chewed well. Dia was determined to be social, if at least a little. No matter what complications came with her or her stomach or whatnot it didn't matter. So why was it she felt so anti-social? Why was it she felt like out casting herself? Did she think of herself as undeserving of friends? No, that could not be it. Perhaps it was a little bit of loneliness in that restricting herself to her room had caused the initial outbreak of her anti-social life. |

A miracle within itself, hmm… If Scott had spoken that out loud Lou would have burst out in laughter. Not the nervous giggles which she usually gave but full out laughter. Right, like she had performed some great feat by walking over joining the group for dinner. The great feat, the miracle was the fact she had even come to dinner. Even though, it had become somewhat enjoyable. "I don't know about joyful. I'm told it was definitely entertaining to watch though" [Angel] replied. A smile of pale lips was quickly covered by a hand just as pale. "Now, to be seein' that it would’ve been joyful," Lou said softly. "I mean it's not everyday one goes out and sees an angel tethered as a kite. Then again, to be seein’ a winged man would’ve been a sight." Quickly her dark grey eyes gave Warren the once over before she shrugged and turned her attention to Storm. "Miss Lou," the fear-bringer corrected, "If you wish to remain formal. But yes I started at the beginning of the summer. It be a pleasure to be makin' your acquaintance as well." Those around the table, even the ones she hadn't met, would find this particular introvert talking truly odd. Warren's thoughts were right on the bell. She had tried to blend into the lovely shadows of the mansion. Whether it was Jean intention or not the new teacher seemed just a bit happier, at least for the moment. Scott's expression changed to quickly without reason. Something had to be going on, something terrible. Though, how did he find this something when no one spoke any depressing thoughts? ~A telepath,~ Lou added two and two together. It didn't matter anyways. As a newly appointed X-men wasn't it her duty to follow even though her name wasn't called. Catching Warren's apologetic look she shrugged and stood up slowly. Thoughts of doubt ended before they began as Lou followed in the distance. She'll go and help but to what anvil was anyone's guess. One would state her powers were uncontrollable at the moment. However, they would have been wrong. Only a few knew exactly what the fear-bringer could actually accomplish if provoked. |

"A kite?" Kate's dinner was quite forgotten as she stared around at the others. They all knew each other and were family, that was obvious in the way they acted towards each other. She glanced over at Warren, imagining a slightly younger version of himself strung up like a kite. The thought made her giggle aloud, amused. The suddenly influx of people coming into the room made Kate fall silent again, taking her fork back up again. Talking to Scott and Jean was one thing, but talking to the other new people was quite another thing. She listened to the conversation quietly, trying to match names and faces and powers together. It was obvious what Scott could do, and Warren and Jean as well, but what about the others? Kate had just about been ready to pipe up with a question about Ororo's powers when Scott's face grew grim. Even though the visors blocked his eyes, Kate could tell that something was the matter...especially when he had several of the senior X-men accompany him to the office. The girl glanced around the table at the others, confused -- and the confusion showed in her skin, turning her skin a marble white. She didn't dare ask what was the matter, with the way everyone looked worried, but what else could she do? "Excuse me." She murmured finally, laying her napkin down and pushing her chair back. Kate was tempted to follow the others and stand just outside the door, and try to listen to what was going on, and her thoughts buzzed as she left the dining room. |

Alrighty, the side plot has officially started. However, it's not going to be nearly as big as we were expecting -- I don't want it overshadowing the other stuff that's going on. Basically, Ari and the goon are at the river, fighting around Rosie. At the mansion, however, Avery's been shot and is bleeding to death. So anyone who wants to help out in any place can feel free! |
