Attention to all those who were apart of the ‘Murder Angel’ sub-character plot…

On behalf of Avalene and I, we would like to thank-you for all those who participated in the ‘Dire Alarm’ and ‘Pain’ threads. Your involvement has made these two threads outstanding and better than expected. Thanks.

However, it is time that we move beyond this sub-character plot. It’s time to see how Kelrian deals with healing, for the first time in a long time, normally. How Eldan and his minions *coughs* friends deal with their secret group possibly becoming known. However, we must also wonder how two siblings dealt with the possible loss of the other. It is time to move to the path of healing and discovery.

But please do not fret. We are asking for the thread to remain open so it can be completed. In three posts it shall be done. These three rather in-depth but quick posts most likely will be completed by next week. Due to recent events as well as it being drawn on a long while, there is going to be a time jump to maybe three weeks after or more. A definite time doesn’t need to be set-up but the next thread will take place in the infirmary. ‘Who’ is going to be there is unclear though; since Avery will be taken there it will probably coincide with the current site-plot.

On behalf of Avalene and I, we would like to make shout-out to Israel (Iceman and Malena), Alexander (Alexander Legard), Mana (Shadowcat), Heather (Cyclops), and of course Avalene (Kelrian, Eldan and minions) and I (Mittens, Anne Lee, and Lou.) Once again, thanks for playing your parts to make this a sad but memorable sub-character plot happen.

Thanks,
Avalene and May

It was not the best idea, the second kidnapper had found out, to run with a three-year-old in tow. By the time he reached the forested edge of the grounds, and started looking for a way to the road and his getaway car, Rosie had woken fully and was busy screaming her head off. While she didn't weigh much, after a while carrying weight that is alive and kicking gets tiresome. Finally, with a nervous look backwards to see if anyone was coming, the man plunked Rosie down on the ground.

"Listen, you little brat." He hissed, giving Rosie a little shake to make her shut up. Startled, Rosie's scream cut off mid-sob, but the tears continued to fall as she glared up at him. "You're going to run, or so help me I'll..."

Whatever threat he had been about to use was lost when a snap of a dead twig reached his ears. Grabbing for the little girl's hand, the man whirled around and started running, yanking Rosie along behind him despite all the efforts she was making to dig her heels in and keep from going with him.

They reached the river soon after, with the man panting for breath and considering giving the little girl another smack to shut her up -- Rosie was red-faced from screaming, rather than breathing properly. "Come on!" He screamed, not caring anymore if they heard him. He knew where they were, by the map that the Johannsons had provided. To get to the main road, he had to cross the river.

Without a second thought, the man gave Rosie's hand a sharp yank and stepped forward into the shallow river, wincing at how cold it was. But there was no way he would get caught by the mutants. He'd die before that.

Ari hated to run...really, she really hated it. But at the moment, her adrenaline was pumping through her veins, and worry, anger, and complete fear had taken over. In fact, she was so absorbed in the fear of losing Avery and Rosie that she ignored the stitch that was beginning to form in her side. Trying to control her uneven breathing, she continued after the man.

She'd tried holding off the other kidnapper; she'd even seen when he dropped his gun. It was the only time she could afford to spare. Her glass wall would protect Avery and Violey from another gun shot...or so she hoped. If not, it would be Violey's job to take care of him. Ari had faith in her roommate, she had to, or she would've stayed behind to look after them herself. That would've meant losing Rosie, perhaps forever. It had been a difficult decision to make. Definitely one that the brunette never thought she'd be faced with. Her decision had been made for her though, in the fact that Avery had Violey, and would soon have Akito there to care for her. Rosie, on the other hand, would have no one.

So there she was, running to catch up with the man as she lost sight of him. He wasn't as stupid as one might think. Rather than running for the gates he'd run into the forest. The beautiful forest, surrounded by all of its greenery and water and uneven terrain. In the dead of night, it also meant a great hiding spot.

At one point, her dark eyes had spotted him in the near distance, Rosie a red ball in his grasp. Ari could hear her wailing and her heart ached for the toddler. She must be so so terrified. The bastard would pay for what he was doing. She couldn't help the feelings of guilt that were residing within her. If only she'd stayed with her in Jean's room, instead of only helping Avery to put her to bed. They should have never left her alone like that, not with Jean and Scott away. One tiny bit of carelessness and Avery's life was clinging by a thread, and Rosie's might be too.

When she'd spotted him, Ari's eyesight had enhanced, taking in his face and Rosie's. She was already forming glass shards in her hands, but hesitated from shooting them towards him. Rosie was over his shoulder and both parties were running. One wrong move and her glass would miss its intended target. She was too far...Ari just couldn't risk hurting Rosie.

So she ran, ran until her throat hurt from breathing, the stitch on her side tightening painfully. Her legs continued on, her sneakers crunching in the wild grass. Thank God she'd put on sneakers. Rosie's wailing was still in range of her ears, and although it might be sick, she was glad the kid was screaming. Had she been unconscious, the man might have slipped off into the night and Ari would've lost them near the start of the chase.

Ari was sure she was getting closer, Rosie's screaming was getting louder and therefore must be closer. And then her screams had cut off and Ari was terrified to think of why. Staring into the darkness of the surrounding trees, the brunette found that she was unsure of what direction they'd headed. She couldn't afford to stand there and waste time, instead blindly choosing a path as her sneakers audibly snapped an unsuspecting twig.

A familiar sound hit her ears...running water. Instantly, Ari realized where they were, feeling stupid for not realizing it sooner. She was nearly positive of where the kidnapper was heading. There was more than one way out of the mansion. She briefly questioned how the man could know so much about the school's layout, but there were more pressing matters to think about.

The young woman could clearly hear the man screaming now, obviously angry that his cargo was slowing him down. Clutching her side, Ari finally reached the river, her eyes landing on the kidnapper as he attempted to drag Rosie in. Finally, he was close enough that she could do something.

"Hey asshole!" Ari screamed, her face contorted angrily as she ran out, a new surge of adrenaline pumping through her, this time fueled by rage and near maternal instinct. The tan female's hands flew out as she aimed towards his upper body. A steady flow of glass seemed to spit from her hands, sharp and murderous, fully intent on impaling themselves on the creep. "There's no way she's leaving with you!" she said determinedly, her eyes glancing towards Rosie.

The man was nearing the center of the river, but the little girl that he was tugging along was surprisingly stubborn. Finally, he gave up and grabbed her, ready to give her a good dunking if she didn't stop screaming. The water was rushing around his knees, and with each step it was getting higher.

Ari's voice screaming out made him draw to a halt though, clutching the still-wailing child in his hands like a human shield as he glared around. When he spotted the girl at the edge of the river, a manic grin grew on his face.

"You want her?!" He screamed over the rush of the river. Taking a step forward, the man held Rosie out over the churling water; Rosie, for her part, grew deathly still, realizing that her struggling might cause him to drop her.

"If you want her so badly, come out here!" He commanded, but he was unprepared for when shards of glass erupted from Ari's hands. It was then that the implications of the situation hit him fully -- literally, because the glass had found his upper body and had embedded into his flesh.

The man screamed. His hands let go of Rosie; the little girl flailed as she plunged into the river, reaching for help, but the man was concentrating on the blood that trickled from his chest. His hands went up to yank the glass out, as he glared still at Ari.

Ari's eyes were wide as the man dangled Rosie over the rushing water, even pausing her steps as to not incite him to drop her. But her glass shards were already hitting their target, though he'd turned and one had hit him in the chest rather than the back. And there went Rosie, right into the water.

Gasping, the brunette ran forward, running past the injured man into the river. She could only hear the quick beating of her heart in her chest, thumping loudly in her ears, and the sound of rushing water. Her hands reached out for Rosie as the water began to drag the toddler away, "Rosie!" Taking several steps in, she realized the river was deeper than she'd always thought. It had whipped around her legs at first, but as she moved in towards Rosie, the water deepened towards her chest.

Goodness this water was cold. It soaked into her cotton shorts and tank top without delay, sending her teeth chattering. Her sneakers planted in the watery mud below. "R-Rosie, grab my hand--" she said, throwing herself out towards the toddler's body, hand extended as her legs kicked. First running and now swimming. All things she was not skilled at. She suddenly wished she'd taken a lifeguard course over the summer instead of taking classes for school.

Her attention was on Rosie now, her back turned on the kidnapper. She hadn't forgotten he was there, and badly wanted to deal with him. But, like before, Rosie was her first priority. Imagine tracking down the kidnapper after all that, and still losing Rosie to the river.

Rosie was so close, all she needed to do was reach out her hand and Ari would be able to pull the child into her grasp and out of the freezing water.

Rosie tried to scream, wanting desperately to cry out for Ari, but as she opened her mouth to scream she inhaled icy water. She flailed, eyes shut against the water that stung them. Finally, when she thought that she was going to drown and die and never see Ari or her mother and father again, she brushed against someone.

Desperately, Rosie threw herself through the water, struggling and wishing that she knew how to swim. Her head broke the surface for a split instant; coughing and hacking, her hair plastered to her forehead, Rosie screamed again, her eyes shut tight against the water, before she was sucked under again. But one hand flailed out in Ari's direction, a perfect opportunity.

The kidnapper, however, laughed. He laughed even though glass was embedded into his chest, and he was standing waist-deep in icy water. There was no humor in the laugh though, but watching Ari try to rescue the little girl made laughter erupt in his throat. The helpless struggle was just so...well, he didn't have a word for it. Just that he was enjoying every minute of it.

Ari's back was turned to him. How fortuante, because he sloshed forward and grabbed the back of her head, holding her hair tightly in his fists. "The best thing to do would be to let her drown." He hissed. "One less mutant in the world, and before she could do any more damage."

Ari's hand had already been extending towards the toddler, her own long legs kicking as she attempted to swim towards Rosie. And then she felt it, Rosie's small, fleshy fingers had brushed her own beneath the water. Her chest leaped with hope, Throwing her arm out once again, Ari closed her hand around the child's tiny one, grabbing on for dear life. Suddenly, she felt a strong hand close around her long hair, pulling a thick portion of it back brutally. A slight scream sounded in her throat, her head pulled back as the kidnapper held her against him, her scalp now stinging painfully.

The brunette could feel herself practically against him, as he whispered cruelly against her ear. Surprisingly, she could hear him clearly despite the loud sound of rushing water surrounding them. Fighting the urge to gag, Ari could practically smell his horrible breath. But her grasp on Rosie never let go, in fact, her hand only tightened around the little one's. There was no way in hell she would let go now.

"F-fuck you--" she spat, attempting to struggle out of his grasp, her teeth nearly chattering. Who the heck was this guy? She was so sure she'd hit him square in the chest. He should be slowly dying by now. But no, instead he was goading her and copping a free feel.

Pulling Rosie towards her, Ari threw out her other hand, finally able to grab the child. It would be impossible to fight off the man with Rosie in her arms though. "R-Rosie, its okay. You're gonna be o-okay--" she said, her voice strangled, her body still flailing away from the man. It was then that she was struck with an idea. Her powers worked almost like Bobby's did, except his thing was ice. Still, she'd seen him create bridges before. Why shouldn't it work for her?

Freeing one of her hands from around Rosie, she aimed back towards the direction they'd come from. It wasn't very wide, since she was only using one hand, but a glittering bridge of glass seemed to be forming in front of them, hovering over the water. Concentrating, despite the situation they were in, Ari extended it from their position towards the grounds. It would be wide enough for Rosie to run across, getting her out of the moving, and quite freezing, river and simultaneously freeing her hands. At the very least, she would try to get her out of harm's way.

"Go Rosie! Go now--" she said, her voice urgent as she lifted the child onto the smooth glass platform.

The moment Ari's hand closed around Rosie's, Rosie grabbed right back, still terrified but knowing that Ari had her. There was no way she'd drop her.

The kidnapper, however, had other ideas. When he saw that Ari had gotten hold of the little girl, he gave a frustrated howl and shook Ari by the head once again. True, he was getting weaker by the moment from the wounds in his chest, but he was on a mission.

"Let her go!" He hissed, punctuating each word with another yank of the hair. He was concentrating so hard on attempting to pry Rosie from Ari's grip that he didn't notice the glass sprouting from the girl's hands, until she was lifting Rosie onto the platform.

Rosie, who wanted desperately to cling to Ari and never let go, knew from experience that she had to do what grown-ups told her -- and in this case, she had to listen to Ari. Shivering, her teeth chattering, Rosie scrambled onto the makeshift glass bridge and made a run for it, but her eyes were still glued on Ari. Once at the end, safely on the shore, the little girl turned to watch what was going on.

"Ari!" She screamed, tiny hands clutching into fists at her side. "He's mean! Be's careful!"

The sentiment was lost on the kidnapper, who just wanted Ari dead, as well as Rosie. The fact that the little girl had escaped from him made him redouble his efforts to get rid of Ari, but the steady loss of blood was making him weaker by the moment.

OOC: Had permission to move Rosie's bad guy.

Ari had never felt more like a rag doll in her entire life. The man pulled her this way and that, sending her brain rattling in her skull and her scalp stinging painfully. He was not kidding around in the least. But Ari breathed a sigh of relief as she heard Rosie's voice from far off. Good, it seemed that she was out of the water.

And then she felt the most unexpected thing. The man had thrown back his fist, connecting with the area just beneath her eye. He'd punched her...actually punched her in the face! Ari emitted a guttural groan, pain filling the side of her face. That really hurt a lot more than it seemed to in movies.

Suddenly, there was water all around her, her mouth swallowing some unintentionally. He'd taken advantage of her sudden state of weakness, dunking her head beneath the water. He was going to try to drown her.

The freezing water almost seemed to burn at her skin, salt stinging her eyes. In her state of panic, her eyes seemed to ignore her wishes, zooming into the river bottom on their own accord. She couldn't die like this. Not when Avery was dying and Rosie needed her. Ari couldn't let the man win.

Shutting her eyes, and her mouth, Ari struggled to get out of the man's grasp. Concentrating purely on her hands, she formed a new shard of glass. Holding it like a stake, uncaring if she cut herself once again, she threw her arm back towards his legs. It was hard to move with strength in the water, as it seemed to slow her movements.

He seemed to be weakening though, his grasp on her hair weakening slightly. She took the opportunity to get her head out of the water, using all of her body weight against the man's hold.

Gasping and coughing upon contact with the air, Ari felt her hope surge once more.

No matter how much Rosie cried for her sister -- because that was what she was, to the little girl -- the danger wasn't over. Not by a long shot. Rosie watched in terror as her kidnapper punched Ari, then held her underwater in a vice grip. No...this couldn't be happening...she couldn't lose Ari...

"Ari!" Rosie screamed again, but then something seemed to happen. There was a glint of something in the water, and for a split second the little girl thought it was a fish, but then her kidnapper screamed and let go of Ari, wrenching away.

"You b*tch!" He screamed, holding his left leg tightly with both hands. At the sight of so much blood, from both his chest and leg, Rosie felt sick to her stomach. Was he going to die? The little girl was ashamed to conclude that she wouldn't be sad if he did die.

As if in slow motion, the kidnapper lost his balance in the water, having ventured into the deeper part and unable to stand on both legs. He grabbed for the glass bridge that Ari had constructed -- ironic, considering that he was essentially depending on a mutant and her gifts to save his life -- but his fingers slipped on the slick glass and he was swept away by the current. His screams echoed in the thick forest.

For a long moment Rosie could only stare at the river, and Ari in it, before she screamed again. She didn't dare go anywhere near the water again, but she could cry out for her sister. This wasn't fun; she wanted to go home and get warm. Her skin was faintly blue, but all she wanted was Ari.

Ari heard the man behind her scream, his hold on her ending. She could finally move and breathe. Opening her eyes, her mutant eyesight controlled for the moment, Ari watched as the man lost his balance and fell into the water. It wasn't in her nature to kill someone for the heck of it, and she nearly reached out a hand to grab him. Not to save him...not really. Just because she wanted to know who'd sent him, and how he knew so much about the school's layout. From where Rosie was being kept, to how to get out of the forest, he'd known everything.

But the water was too swift, and he as already being swept away, his screams echoing through the trees. Ari, shivering and sore everywhere, sloshed her way out of the water, nearly collapsing on the grass as she inhaled the crisp air deeply until she could once again speak. She felt so heavy out of the water, her sleep clothes sticking to her and weighing her down, despite the small amount of actual cloth.

"R-Rosie--" she said, getting to her feet and throwing her arms around the little girl. "You're okay now.." she said, her dark eyes looking over the child with a careful eye. "He didn't hurt you, right?" she asked, her teeth chattering, as she lifted Rosie's arms and inspected her.

"We have to go back now--" she said. 'To check on Avery,' she finished grimly. She wanted to pick the child up, but found that her energy was much too low. Like Rosie, she would've loved to take a hot shower and crawl into bed. It didn't help that half of her face was throbbing like a mother, a bruise already beginning to form on her tan features.

But they couldn't give up now, not when Avery and Violey might still have the gunman to contend with. "Come on Rosie, I need to get you inside," she said, using her strength to pick up the cold, wet child and hold her close, her hands rubbing at the little girl's back. She'd just finished a bout with chicken pox, she couldn't risk the child having hypothermia too.

Glancing back at the river one last time, Ari felt a flicker of fear, as if the man would suddenly pop out at her once again. No, he was long gone now. Shaking her head slightly, she faced forward and continued on her path back towards the mansion, her arms tightly surrounding Rosie.

At the man's screams, Rosie clenched her eyes shut, not opening them until he was long gone and Ari had come to pick her up. Still weeping, Rosie pressed her cold, wet self against the equally cold and wet older girl.

"Is you all right?" She wanted to know, reaching out to touch the older girl's face in worry. The massive bruise forming there was more than worrying to her, and she bit her lip, tears already spilling over. "I's sorry." Rosie whispered finally. "He's Daddy's friend. Not Scoot-Daddy, real Daddy."

Rosie had the distinct memory of that man being around her parents before she'd been taken to the mansion, talking to them in low, dark voices about work. Of course, she had no idea of what work they had been talking about, but she just knew that they were friends.

Feeling distinctly crummy, Rosie sniffled and curled into Ari's arms, worried about the older girl and those that had been left behind during the chase. She remembered the amount of blood gushing from Avery's chest -- did that mean she was going to die? Shivering, from the thought now rather than the cold, Rosie watched the mansion grow in their sight as they approached it.

Ari nodded her head at Rosie's concerns, "Shh baby, I'm alright. Don't cry. I've got you now." Her nearly-purple lips curved up in a slight smile, though she winced at the ache in her cheek. "This'll go away in a few days," she said, gesturing to the bruise she was sure was now marking her cheek. "Avery is hopefully going to be okay. And she wouldn't want you worrying," she said with a decisive nod. But inwardly, she was merely clinging to hope that her green-hued friend would be alright. By now, Akito would have her inside, already working to patch up her wounds. Ari had lost complete track of time in her struggle with the man, feeling as though things had happened both in slow motion and super speed.

Her eyes narrowed however, as the child spoke of it being her father's friends. "Your birth daddy's friends, eh?" she said, a slight glint coming into her eyes. Of course it had been them. Wanda had not used such cruel methods to capture Rosie. Who else would go to so much trouble to get the toddler back? "Its not your fault Rosie. They were bad men," she said matter-of-factly.

Seeming to hold on to Rosie just a bit tighter, she said, "We're almost home now." She was worried though. Afraid of what might have occurred during their absence.

Alison had been a couple of minutes behind Ari so she wasn't able to get to the kidnapper before Ari, when she arrived she saw Ari had created a glass bridge and that Rosie had made it back to land. Ally watched as Ari struggled against the man, she saw him hit her. "No I have to let her handle this", she thought to herself wanting to see what Ari was made of. This was not due to lack of concern, it was out of respect. At any time had Alison thought Ari couldn't handle it she would have been right there to help out, a simple Dazzleburst would be all it would take to blind them man for several minutes giving them more then enough time to get back to the mansion, which by now should be in lock down. Ally watched from the edge of the forest as she was the type of person that if she had been in Ari's place and somone had jumped into her fight she would have been mad, so she stood by watching and waiting for a sign that Ari was going to need help.

Ari was more then capable of handling herself against the thug. A smile crossed Ally's face as she was filled with pride that Ari had done such a great job in saving Rosie and was willing to give up her own life possibly to do so, this would make her a valuble addition to the X-men team. She watched as Ari and Rosie headed back to the mansion.
