“Pfft...whatever!” She then retorted with an all knowing look.. “..Cause I’m sure you’ve got room to talk..Hmm?” One shapely, dark brow rose. “And just you wait until Rosie gets older....It’ll be you she’ll be running to with all the questions and problems. Don’t come crying to me when she wants to know about...Eee, errr! eee, errr!...” Avery finished by imitating the sounds of noisey bed springs, her free hand making a up and down motions. Ari gave a dramatic gasp, looking plainly outraged, "Avery Doyal. I'm a good girl!" But the mischievous look on her face completely betrayed her words and she grinned, unable to resist joking, "That's what Warren says anyway." Giving her friend a wink and a clack of her teeth, Ari would've sobered, had it not been for Avery's hand motions. Ari burst out laughing, her hand coming to cover her mouth, "Oh my God Ave, are you trying to kill me?" Rolling her eyes in a good-natured manner, she said, "You know that when it comes time to give Rosie the sex talk, Auntie Avery is gonna be there with a bevy of pamphlets and diagrams." Avery mentioned Pietro's backbone and Ari shook her head in amusement, "I know you've got it in you. He's just not afraid to show it. But I guess when you can lift a few tons without breaking a sweat, you're likely to be that way." The elven joked about her halo and people thinking she was the one being corrupted and unfortunately, Ari was apt to agree. Avery was so shy in public that people would probably never know that she had such a wicked sense of humor and was so much fun to be around. Funny how appearances were sometimes. Ari, born and raised in New York, with her red-hued bangs and black-lined eyes would surely be seen as the corrupter next to mint-hued Newfie Avery, with her gentle violet eyes and delicate features. "Aw I loved Michael J. Fox. He was so cute. And he had lots of attitude for such a small guy. Plus, he wore a red vest..and he had a hoverboard," she said, as if that settled the discussion. Avery agreed to go to Bloomingdale's and Ari chuckled, "Hey a little splurge can go a long way." Ari thought briefly of what she might be wearing to the wedding, since she didn't know that Jean was already planning on inviting her to be part of the wedding party. She would deal with shopping for herself another day though. Honestly, she wasn't really in the mood to switch out of clothes for an hour. Being Avery's personal shopper was far, far better. Avery joked about using her powers to get them a parking spot, and Ari genuinely considered it. "Hmm, that might not be such a bad idea, Avery..." Hey, being a mutant should give them some perks, no? They were always saving others, or being hated for what they were. Nabbing a choice parking spot wasn't such a terrible thing in retrospect. There was no need though, when Avery spotted a parking spot. Ari glanced towards Avery, catching the look of determination in her dark eyes, "Gun it--" In a quick bit of maneuvering, Avery had pulled the car into the new spot. The old lady looked quite disgruntled and Ari grimaced as she got out of the car, "Eeps. She's gonna scratch up our paint job now. I bet you." Avery followed suit with quite the rude gesture and Ari let out a laugh, "Great Avery, add fuel to the fire. When her old lady friends are clubbing you with their walkers, don't look at me," she said jokingly. Pulling up the collar on her coat, she nodded towards the store's location, "Its just down there. Now come on. If you freeze out here, I'm going to have to choose your dress and I can't guarantee you'll like it." |

Once Ari had exited she locked the car was a noted blip-blip chirp, and pumped the parking meter full of coin. At this point Ari was snickering at the less than pleasant gesture as she wiggled her bum at the battleaxe driver. Avery on the other hand merely smirked to herself. Her friend was right to think that she was devilishly fun, yet it seemed that it was only around her that she truly acted free. Perhaps Riva, Jean and Mina as well on times, but it really was a pity that she hid herself behind so many layers of shyness and insecurity. "Eeps. She's gonna scratch up our paint job now. I bet you." Avery looked up to hear Ari laughing, as she eyed the car that passed. "Great Avery, add fuel to the fire. When her old lady friends are clubbing you with their walkers, don't look at me," Avery promptly burst into her own bubbling laughter at that, apparently not all that worried about little old ladies and their walking devices of doom. “That all they got? Walkers and maybe a handbag full of tissues, pennies and hard candy? Pfff..” She waved her hand at that as they walked. “Man....let ‘em come. I’ve got osteoporosis on my side.” At this she chuckled at her own joke, lightly tossing her hair over her shoulder. To Ari’s nod in the direction of the store and her beckoning Avery quickened her pace to stride with her friend. “I wouldn’t worry too much about that dahlink, you have very good taste. I’d put my trust in you entirely....but, ya know...I’d hate to have you drag my frozen corpse home and have to explain...” She grinned with dark humor, really one wouldn’t know what was going to come out of her mouth when she was with the Hispanic. Then linking her arm in comradery, the two briskly walked to the stores entrance. Once within Avery cherished in the heat that the store offered, her dark eyes darting to all the things to see there. “God....its bigger than I remember...” She muttered as she searched for anything that resembled a dress. Moving through the store, her long digits had lightly tugged on Ari’s own to follow until they slipped away. Her eyes fell upon many sparkling, pricy objects that she knew that she’d buy in a heartbeat had she somewhere to put it. The institute had more than enough extravagant objects, she did not need to add to it. Yet on a second thought, considering the lovely tea set Ari had given her, the glass expert could undoubtfully replicate some of these priceless objects and improve on them even. Avery was convinced that Ari would make a wonderful career out of her gift. It wasn’t just the fact of having a special ability, the girl had talent to boot. Even when stacked up against Avery’s ability to create new and unique species of plants, Ari was definitely a head above her in the talent category. Avery took a little pride being her best friend, and jokingly to herself hoped she wouldn’t forget her when she became world renowned. “Oh! There they are!” The elven exclaimed as she finally found the dress section of the women’s department. Hastily in her excitement she began to rifle through one of the racks for her size. To her relief they had much in stock this time of year in an arrangement of many styles and colors. She prayed that they were enough to find one that suited her. “Funny...” She mused dryly as she pulled out a dress and pressed it against herself. “I’m kinda more worried about bringin’ back Pietro somethin’ than this dress right now...” Frowning at her reflection in the mirror, she knew it was kind of silly of her to be bringing the topic back up again. But she had promised herself that she would get him something before she returned to the mansion. “Really, think about it. He’s always on the move so how could he ever appreciate any object that I gave him that’s meant to be left anywhere? And I’m sure any clothes that I give him will be worn out quickly...” At this she laughed briefly, imagining the speedster wearing a jacket or sweater thin from all his quick movements. “And I thought about a watch, but for him that would seem impractical....ya think a new violin would be too much?” She raised a brow before selecting another dress. “God I’m hopeless...” She lightly chuckled in defeat. “How ‘bout this one?” Avery raised up a long wispy ball gown in a light blue shade. It was different than what she was used to seeing but she absolutely loved the color and beading on it. First Dress |

Ari grinned, pointing a finger at Avery, "Hey, those hard candies can be a killer. She could toss a few down your throat and let you choke on them. Lemon-flavored ones..." Ari gave a very solemn nod at this, finding that her imagination was running away with her as she pictured the scene in her head. "I guess it'd be better than Tootsie Rolls though," she said with a slight grimace. Honestly, why did people insist on handing that out for Halloween candy? Avery joked morbidly about Ari having to drag her body home and Ari let out an easy laugh, "I'd just blame it on Bobby. A frozen Avery? No one would ever blame me in that situation." Accepting Avery's arm through hers, Ari huddled close as they walked towards the store. Ari couldn't help but feel for her friend in this weather, knowing that the plant manipulator did not do well in the cold. The store would be nice and warm though. Frozen Avery's just weren't acceptable. Making their way to the dress section, Ari caught Avery's dark eyes as they looked towards the home decor items. Moving towards a simple glass plant holder, Ari shook her head. 150 bucks? Ari had placed several just like it around the mansion for the plant lovers to put their flowers in, and all for free. She couldn't call it a rip-off, not really, when she knew that it was a lot harder for glass artists to create than it was for her. Despite the many scars on her hands, she couldn't complain about her abilities. Winking at Avery as she glanced towards a very pretty item, Ari said, "I know a place we can get that really cheap." Thinking about it now, Ari really needed a job. All the wedding stuff that was coming up would have put her out of house and home, had it not been for the fact that she didn't pay rent at the mansion, and if something went wrong with her old car, there was more than one mechanic friend willing to take a look at it. Avery, being one of them. Still though, Ari knew she needed to get off her ass and ask Jean and Warren about other art dealers. Considering the fact that a little plant holder like the one she'd passed could go for nearly two-hundred dollars, Ari really shouldn't be counting her change. Sometimes one had to step out of the mansion to realize things like that. When you were at the Institute and miraculous things were always happening around you, you often forgot what use you might be in the outside world. They reached the dresses and Ari bit down a smile as Avery began to look through the racks quickly, already pressing a dress against herself. "We'll deal with Pietro's gift after you choose a dress," she said firmly, moving towards a separate rack. "Yeah, I might have thought a watch too. Like one of those time zone watches, since he can pretty much go anywhere he wants, but I think it would only make him crazy to know what time it is. Knowing that he has to slow down before everyone can catch up." She bit her lip, "A violin... I think he'd probably love that. Kind of expensive though." Shrugging as she pulled down a long dress to take a closer look, she said, "You could get him to take you someplace, and then pay for the expenses like food and housing. But it might be a bit soon for that. And he won't want to leave Wanda behind." Ari grinned, "I'd say some nice sheet music, but he already beat you on that one." Honestly, the speedster was a difficult person to buy for. He had no use for things like jewelry or stylish clothing. His shoes had to be made specially as well, so that was out. "You could take him on a date," she said suddenly, her brown eyes shifting towards Avery. "I'm sure he'd like some quality time with you." Ari looked over at the dress Avery held up, her eyebrows raising as she looked at it skeptically. "I like the color, but I don't like the flowery stuff," she said honestly. Hey, if she was going to be helping out her best friend, she was going to be dead honest. "How about this one?" she asked, holding up another dress. Going through the racks, she pulled out several dresses, showing them each to Avery. They were all gorgeous, but finding the right color was more of a challenge than it would've been. Especially when Avery was wearing her image inducer and it was impossible to hold it up against her to get a good idea. And then Ari's eyes fell onto a long champagne colored gown with a braided halter neck. Her lightly bronzed fingertips ran over the soft material and she grinned, pulling it down, "I like this one--" Holding it out to Avery, she said, "What do you think? Does it make you want to play violin at a wedding ceremony?" [The Dress] |

Avery let out a long string of laughter at Ari’s alibi to her freezing. Blaming Bobby would seem like the best option. Truth be told Avery had never come in actual contract with the mutant known as Ice Man, his touch would surely kill her. Still, joking about it was more funny than disturbing. Still chuckling as she leaned into Ari to steal her warmth, Avery continued the little bantered mirth. “I can see that happenin’ too...I mean, really, who could really argue with that one..” Avery grinned, her eyes looking side long to Ari. “..It’s like when I replaced all of Jean’s tampons with chalk sticks...” The cloaked elven snickered as she and Jean had a slight pranking war ever since the acorn incident at the bonfire. “Who’d ya think’s gonna get the blame for that one, eh?” Avery gave Ari a little wink. With things between Jean and herself being quiet as of late, it was more than likely that the crime would have Riva’s name written all over it. Though Jean would eventually find out. And so they made their way through Bloomingdale’s chatting as they went, glancing at expensive items. Certain glass objects caused Ari to comment. Winking at Avery as she glanced towards a very pretty item, Ari said, "I know a place we can get that really cheap." At this Avery grinned. If she had a place of her own, which suddenly she wished she had, she would defiantly have Ari come over to assist her with the decor. There was no doubt that the two could make a flat look swank in less than a day. “Heard the manufacture’s a real hottie too, though a bit of a air head at times...” She confided, jabbing at Ari’s ego in good nature. Ari was nothing near a air head, and if anything Avery was more so out of the two. But, if one could manage the slip in a burn, it mattered not the truth of it. Though on a more serious matter as Ari’s mind thought about getting her life together and starting out in the world, Avery’s didn’t linger too far off the same thoughts. In all honesty she felt like a burden to the X-men and their school the moment she graduated. Like most her age she wished to be out of her own, have her own apartment and be free and independent. Then it came down to what she wished to do with her life. There were a few choices, as she would’ve made a wonderful mechanic, all she needed was the certifications. Or she could have managed to use her gifts to open her own flower shop or garden nursery, though she wasn’t interested in it. Besides those two she was doing splendidly in her nursing program. Avery could have easily taken it outside the institute at an university rather than distance ed. Yet fear held her back. In the jobs she would want to do, she wouldn’t be able to wear jewelry and thus her image inducer. And so, she decided her best option would be to stay and strive to work at the institute. At least there she could repay them by healing their wounded and sick, for the kindness and guidance they had given her. Avery’s mind flew away from such thoughts as she spotted the dresses from a distance. As she flicked through dress after dress with much distaste on her face, she nodded to Ari’s words. She could see Avery’s dilemma despite the fact that Pietro should have been the easiest man on the planet to please. Perhaps it wasn’t the fact of not knowing what to get him, but not knowing him well enough to cater to his tastes. Avery was caused to frown at Ari’s words as she was reluctant to agree. “Yeah...I know I know...” She chuckled lightly as she placed another dress back on the rack. “I thought it would be cute to give him music that he probably doesn’t know about...like classical, famous ones. But then I don’t wanna copy him. I’d like to think I’m a lil original. Maybe later on I could take him somewhere nice for a date, but...we’re just not there yet, ya know?” She looked to her friend with an almost regretful smile. It was a given that Avery was going to have many unconventional struggles in their relationship. “And...I’d really like to buy him a violin. Somethin’ brand new, meant ‘specially for him. But....They can get pricey for good ones and I really shouldn’t be showerin’ him with stuff like that right at the beginnin’. I mean...I don’t wanna give him the wrong impression right off the bat.” Continuing with her search she pulled out a blue, breezy gown holding it up for Ari to critic. Though the color was nice, Ari had pointed out the flowers which at first Avery thought she had liked. Upon reconsidering, she gave a half grimace before putting it back. “Yeah....you’re right..” She sighed, almost feeling like she’d never find her dress. It was then that Ari pulled out one and called out to her, to which Avery wrinkled her nose. One after another, they were all nice but just didn’t seem to either strike her fancy or suit her particular hue. But then Ari’s hands fell upon the one and with her back turned she called out to her friend. "I like this one--" Holding it out to Avery, [Ari] said, "What do you think? Does it make you want to play violin at a wedding ceremony?" “Hmm??” Avery quipped as she flicked another hanger back on the rack. Looking over her shoulder she seen the grin of approval upon Ari’s face. The elven’s features had immediately brightened and she stepped to her to touch it. It was perfect. Not too light to insult the white of the bride, a beautiful shape that would enhance her slender figure, and most importantly a color that would compliment her unique hue. “Ha ha! That’s it!” She blurted with a laugh in response to Ari’s question. “That’s the one...Ain’t I glad I dragged ya with me! Eee! It’s soo pretty!” Her squeals of glee were enough to tell that she was satisfied with the gown. Carefully taking it into her hands she moved to a mirror and nodded in approval. She didn’t even need to try it on. This was the one. “Luffer, I don’t know what I’d do without ya...!” “I’m havin’ it...” She said as she carefully gathered it up in her arms to carry. Meanwhile the looked around for the nearest counter. With wink to her friend she strolled off to the first one she spotted. “Let’s get this outta the way, so I can pick up somethin’ for Pietro, then to Gregory Singer’s to pick up some new strings and rosin. And then....” Suddenly she stopped as she passed the jewelry display. There sat a set of cufflinks that caught her eye. Looking through them certain pewter and silver ones caught her eye, reminding her of Pietro for some reason. She raised an eyebrow and gave Ari a quick glance. “I’ve gotta get him these...” She said pointing rectangular cufflinks that were mostly of pewter color with three silver dots within it. They may not be much of a gift, but they would look sharp on the cuff of whatever he decided to wear on the wedding day. While playing his violin it was guaranteed to be noticed. And without another word on the matter, she had a lady ring them in for her and bought a lovely case for them as well. “Pietro’s a smart guy, right?” Avery asked suddenly as she took her bags from the lady. “Maybe I should get him somethin’ that would keep him occupied for a bit..” Her eyes narrowed as a thought came to mind. “Somethin’ like a rubix cube or somethin’.” She chuckled lightly at her childish suggestion. But then, she remembered being....well somewhere, where they had a sphere of the same kind of idea only you had to crack a code of hieroglyphics. It was said to be the hardest puzzle ever created and if so, it might intrigue Pietro for a little while. |

Ari listened to Avery intently, catching her regretful smile. Giving her a slight smile in return, Ari nodded, “You don’t have to rush it. The music thing isn’t a bad idea though. Classical music would help him expand his repertoire. And you’d always be the one that exposed him to it.” Avery spoke of getting Pietro a violin and Ari’s eyebrows rose slightly, “Hmm. It is kind of an extravagant gift so soon into it… But if you really want to get it, do it.” Ari didn’t like making choices for people, and if Avery wanted to get Pietro a violin, then Ari wasn’t going to stop her. However, she did have her opinions and her friend’s best interests at heart, so she was forced to be honest. Winking at her friend, she smirked slightly, “Maybe wait until you guys actually go on a date first?” Avery responded to the dress in Ari’s hands, and the brunette grinned wider at the elven’s thanks. Ari handed the dress over and let out an easy laugh as Avery pressed it against herself. The Hispanic young woman couldn’t help but feel incredibly pleased that she had helped Avery choose her gown. If the art thing didn’t work out for her, maybe she could get a job being a personal shopper. Hey, a girl had to have options… Ari grinned as Avery spotted a lovely set of cufflinks for Pietro. “Those are great, Avery. He’ll love them,” she said approvingly. “Wonder if I should get something like that for War…” she mumbled, perusing the rest in the case. She didn’t find any that she could really afford though, and aside from the ones Avery had picked, the ones in the case weren’t unique enough for Ari’s taste. Sighing slightly, she wandered off towards the nearest clothing stands as Avery paid, running her hands over the silky nighties hanging there. Odd how she had to put extra thought into her underwear and sleepwear now, after all, she wasn’t the only one seeing it anymore. Hearing Avery’s question, Ari turned, “Hmm? Yeah, Pietro’s really smart. His brain works way faster than ours.” She was careful to lower her voice at this, noting that the salesclerk was still nearby. Chuckling, she imagined Pietro solving a rubix cube in seconds flat. But she didn’t want to be a downer to her friend, so she instead tried to be helpful, “Yeah, maybe if it was really hard though. A rubix cube might be too easy for him...” Pietro had once told her that he could make a sculpture in minutes and master an instrument just as fast. Once, a very long time ago, Ari had envied Pietro’s speed. The fact that he could run across the world in moments had intrigued her…but she knew now that powers like his were not something she would’ve wanted. Once you mastered everything there was…what was left? Ari didn’t think she would’ve been able to deal with it. Seeing Avery shop for Pietro, and her mentions of the silver-haired man showed Ari that the elven seemed to be really into him. Ari hadn’t heard Avery talk about a guy like that before, and she could see that her friend wanted something to come of her relationship with Pietro. Ari sincerely wanted things to work out for the both of them. They both deserved some love in their lives. It was now or never, Ari decided, clearing her throat and looking seriously towards Avery, “Listen Avery, I’ve gotta tell you something. And, it’s not great, but it isn’t anything to worry about either. I just want to be honest with you because I don’t want this coming back to bite me in the ass later.” Taking in a deep breath, she forged ahead, “Okay, so you remember that me and War got back together that weekend right before graduation, right?” Ari licked her lips, “Well, we almost didn’t. See, Alex Summers took me drinking because I was being all depressed. And we wound up running into Pietro.” She paused for a second before continuing, wanting to get it all out before she decided against it, “Well, I was feeling pretty bad about Warren and everything, and Pietro and I sort of…kissed. But you know, obviously, there wasn’t anything there. Warren saw it though, and he got the wrong idea. And I’m telling you, because I don’t want you to hear it from someplace and get the wrong idea too.” Ari looked tentatively towards Avery’s face, hopeful that Avery wouldn’t feel betrayed or hurt by what she was telling her, “It didn’t mean anything romantic and it was a long time ago anyway, before you guys started talking. But I just want to be honest with you. I don’t want stuff like that hanging between us.” |

Avery went on to pay for her dress, looking over the men’s cufflinks along with Ari. There were many to choose from but not many that screamed the uniqueness of Pietro. And poor Ari would have an even harder time finding a set for Warren. At her question Avery just smiled and clasped her hand on her shoulder. “He’s a lost cause love...” She chuckled, pointing out the cufflinks she wanted the saleslady to take out. “..Just deal with it and give him good lovin’s...No man with complain about that.” At Ari’s light advising on her whole rubix cube idea Avery was inclined to agree. Of course she was yet to really see a show of Pietro’s intelligence, but if his mind worked as fast as the rest of him did, certainly a child’s toy would not be much of a challenge. Yet, she still wanted to purchase the spear despite this. “Yeah...I see your point....”: She semi muttered to herself as she pictured the sphere again in her mind. It was at the National Geographics store, wasn’t it? “But...ya know, maybe he’ll think its sweet...like ‘it’s the thought that counts’ kinda thing.” At this she gave a cute shrug and giggled. It didn’t hurt to try, and when he was done with the toy she could have a go at it, get pissy with it, and then probably hand it off to Hank. As she took her bags she happened to glance over to Ari whom cleared her throat and wore a rather serious face. At this Avery was caused to frown and tilt her head slightly. “Listen Avery, I’ve gotta tell you something. And, it’s not great, but it isn’t anything to worry about either. I just want to be honest with you because I don’t want this coming back to bite me in the ass later.” It didn’t take much to put Avery in a bundle of nerves. From what she knew there were hardly anything that Ari kept from her, aside from private matters between her and Warren which was respectable. Avery had but a moment to worry and puzzle about what Ari was going to tell her. Though Avery merely nodded as she walked away from the counter. “Oh...okay.. Go ahead.” She encouraged softly, light confusion still on her face. And so she listened patiently to Ari’s little confession, not bothering to interrupt since she seemed to want to get it all out in the open. Avery kept a calm expression, nodding at her words until Ari came to the part where she and Pietro kissed. To this her dark eyebrows rose in surprise, as if saying ‘really?’ Truthfully it was something that she hadn’t seen coming. Yet Ari went on to explain things further. It was clear that she was slightly worried what her friend might think or say despite there being no reason for her to hold a grudge. Avery couldn’t however find anything to be angered about. Honestly she was touched that Ari would tell her all this, even though she didn’t have to. Though she’d have to agree, hearing this from anyone else certainly would have given her the wrong idea. Not known for her anger, the elven might not have gotten mad, but it was very likely that she would’ve been hurt or upset that Ari didn’t tell her first...even if Avery didn’t express it. When Ari finally finished Avery but shook her head and smiled as they walked. “I can’t blame you....” She agreed as she shook her head. “I’d want to tell you if it was me.” Avery gave a little shrug of the shoulders and a short chuckle. “Funny how life works ain’t it? Ya know, when ya get all caught up in the moment. Ya hardly think and then poof, things happen that could destroy everythin’” The elven seemed to muse to herself. The situation between Ari and Warren could have played out much worse than it did. “Well, whats done is done eh? Not like ya can take it back.” Avery smirked at her friends, her eyes twinkling in a light tease that her friend could see coming. “So yer tellin me that ya weren’t attracted to him at all? Jumping’s woman, I thought he was a good kisser....Thats that damn booze, eh??” Again she chuckled before throwing a wink at Ari. Of course she was just kidding, not digging in deeper to find the meaning behind Ari’s and Pietro’s kiss. |

“He’s a lost cause love...” She chuckled, pointing out the cufflinks she wanted the saleslady to take out. “..Just deal with it and give him good lovin’s...No man with complain about that.” Ari had to let out a laugh at Avery’s words, grinning at her best friend as they abandoned the jewelry cases. “You’re right Ave. It’s a lost cause,” she said with a nod. Winking at her friend, she added, “He’d better not complain.” She knew Avery was probably right in Warren preferring her affections over something he could buy for himself; the brunette was perfectly happy with that. “Yeah...I see your point....”: She semi muttered to herself as she pictured the sphere again in her mind. It was at the National Geographics store, wasn’t it? “But...ya know, maybe he’ll think its sweet...like ‘it’s the thought that counts’ kinda thing.” The young woman caught the change in Avery’s tone and she promptly nudged her side, truly not having meant to discourage the elven’s idea, “Get it for him. Pietro would be thrilled with anything you give him. Even if he solves it in a few minutes, I’m pretty sure he’ll think of you every time he looks at it. It'll be his Rubik's Cube of love.” Right now, Ari didn’t think anything coming from Avery would be unappreciated by the silver-haired man. When he’d come to her for advice, Ari had seen that he truly seemed smitten with Avery. For the sake of both of her friends, Ari hoped their relationship would deepen and develop further. She liked seeing Avery happy and giggly, and Pietro deserved a chance at a romantic relationship with a woman. Usually, Ari was one of the terminally single, and she might have been less eager for her closest friends to pair up because it would’ve meant being a third wheel. But right now she was with someone, and she tried not to question her good fortune with Warren, instead focusing on how happy he made her feel. If Avery and Pietro could feel something like that with each other, then Ari fully encouraged it. Now they just needed to get their redheaded Cajun friend a guy... The conversation turned slightly more serious as Ari spoke, and she felt a flicker of worry as Avery’s shapely eyebrows rose towards her hairline. But the glass creator forged ahead, wanting to get everything out in the open. Finally finished speaking, Ari licked her lips as she watched Avery carefully. Avery didn’t seem angry or upset in the least though, and Ari felt relief flood through her, giving the elven a nod. The last thing she wanted was for her best friend to be upset with her. The brunette was glad that Avery would’ve wanted to tell her as well, internally thankful that they had a friendship based on open communication and honesty along with laughter and mutual understanding. Avery mused about how things could’ve been ruined, and Ari ran a hand through her bangs as she let out a sigh, “Tell me about it…It wasn’t good, but yeah, it could’ve been worse I guess.” Logically, Warren had broken up with her, so she hadn’t technically been cheating. But she’d hurt him and that was enough for her to want to take it back. Ari had been lucky that Warren had seemed to get over it quickly enough. The fact that she was still friends with Pietro might have made things more difficult, but once they were free to show their affections, Warren had had no reason to doubt her feelings for him. Avery’s dark eyes got a glint in them that made Ari’s right eyebrow rise skeptically. She wasn’t sure she wanted to know what the Newfie was thinking. Her question came, and even with her laughter and good-natured wink, Ari felt like it was a bit of a Catch-22. If she said Pietro had been a good kisser, Avery might think she had felt more than she did. If she said he wasn’t, Avery might feel insulted. For a moment, the brunette struggled to find a way to answer her friend’s question that didn’t make more of she and Pietro’s relationship, but didn’t belittle it either. Finally, Ari settled for the truth, “No, I mean… I thought he was attractive. He was my closest guy friend. I was just…in a bad place. I was sad and I wanted some comfort and I guess the alcohol didn’t help my judgment. I just wanted to forget for a little while…” She had worried at the time that Pietro might think she was using him, but they’d understood each other and moved past it without difficulty. Ari gave a small shrug, “He just wasn’t Warren.” And that was really all that mattered. A smile crossed Ari’s lips as she nudged Avery’s side, “Besides, Pietry’s got you now.” Kisses were always better when they were coming from someone you really had strong feelings for. Ari was glad that they seemed to be okay, and she couldn’t resist nodding towards her friend, “If you guys start dating we should go on a double date. We could get some Italian food…” Ari couldn’t help the slight wag to her eyebrows, her full lips curved into a smirk, “Real Italian. We’d be there in seconds, after all.” |

As their shopping spree closed to an end the topic had turned around to Ari and Pietro’s shared kiss. Perhaps to some’s surprise, Avery had taken it well. After all, Ari did say if was before Pietro and herself had gotten involved and so, who was she to judge. Such things happened more often that one might think. And though she didn’t know the whole details of the incident she was near positive that Pietro’s motives had been innocent enough. It was probably just some friendly comforting that went a little further than intended. Glad to know Ari told her first, Avery was sure hearing it from Pietro she would have either gotten the wrong impression somehow or would have been slightly hurt for the fact that her best friend had kept it from her. But something within her tugged, something she would probably never question. There were more than one side of a story. And though she had no doubt of what Ari said was true, she knew how her friend felt about him....but, how did Pietro feel about her? Why had he kissed her? And did he still have an attraction of some sort for her that exceeded being friends. Of course Avery wasn’t the jealous type, at least not the mad sort. She could not control nor affect the way people felt or their actions. Where others would throw a fit and seek vegence, Avery would become more distance and dejected. She had never been your typical woman. Yet Avery continued positively in her conversation with her best friend. There was no reason to get upset as it was all water under the bridge now. Instead she tired to lightened the situation to further prove that she was not bothered by Ari’s confession. Perhaps she had went a little overboard. Ari’s reply to Avery’s teasing question far more seriously than she would have preferred. Really she hadn’t meant any more to it than a joke and practically any answer would have been taken in good nature. But she followed up with another nudge, adding that Pietro had her now and Avery was caused to smile. “Yes, that’s true. Along with his sister...” She shook her head as she was actually more worried about befriending Wanda than she was over impressing Pietro or even finding him a suitable gift. “I don’t think she’ll be as easy to win over as her brother.” At this Avery chuckled lightly, she’d stress about that another time. It was not long after that Ari put up the idea of a double date. “If you guys start dating we should go on a double date. We could get some Italian food…” Ari couldn’t help the slight wag to her eyebrows, her full lips curved into a smirk, “Real Italian. We’d be there in seconds, after all.” Avery chuckled at this, never been taken very far by Pietro before. How amazing it must be to be able to travel wherever you wanted to at whim. As a kid Avery had loved traveling. Seeing new sights, experiencing new places..it had always excited her, even if she had been there before there was always something that you missed the first time. Now that she had (or felt she had) to wear her image inducer in public, it made air travel nearly impossible. Perhaps one day Pietro would take her somewhere where she could not, a possibility that she hadn’t even considered when she began to fall for him. “That’d be aswome! I’ve never been to Italy before an’ I loooooove Italian!” Her eyes lit up almost excitedly. Though afterwards she frowned in thought. “...But, I thought double datin’ always end up disastrous, or so I’ve heard...” Again she paused in thought. “How doesn’t Warren and Pietro get along anyway? Do they even like each other?” To be truthful Avery had no idea on the matter. She wasn’t quiet sure how many friends Pietro really did have. Just getting to know each other they hadn’t gotten very deep into conversations at all. Soon they were exiting from Bloomingdale’s and headings back to the car. Though they had all the time in the world Avery really wished to get their errands done before rush hour was in full swing. Just a swing by her violin shop and perhaps a run through the drive thru of some fast food joint and it was homeward bound. She promised that on the way back she would take her time, or at least go as slow as she could painfully allow. |

Avery’s mention of Wanda caused Ari’s right eyebrow to rise in question. It was true that Pietro and Wanda did not have a conventional sibling relationship. Ari had never met two people more dependent on each other. The fact that it would be hard for Avery to slip in between them was clear to her, and truthfully, she didn’t know how they were all going to work it out. Ari smiled softly at Avery, putting a hand around her slim shoulders, “I’ll admit, Wanda is a little harder to get to know. And I’m not really sure how she’s going to react to someone wanting to date Pietro.” Honestly, Ari had no idea how Wanda’s frail mind might take it. Would she see it as rejection? Or would she understand that Pietro might need affection from a girl that wasn’t related to him? All she could do was hope for the best for her three friends. “Look Ave, you’re a great person. You’re kind and generous and funny, and Pietro is lucky to have someone like you. Wanda will come to see those things too.” The normally green-hued girl responded excitedly to the idea of a trip to Italy, but Ari nudged her side playfully, “Yeah, I think it’d be better if you got Pietro to take you to Italy on your own.” Ari had been mostly joking, because she knew that Warren wasn’t really the type to double date. Private dates were best for the two of them, because admittedly they were a very physical couple and making out in front of your friends was pretty rude. Avery posed her question about Warren and Pietro, and the brunette frowned slightly, “Yeah… Warren’s not too fond of him really.” She shrugged, hoping she wasn’t making things uncomfortable for her friend. “You know, Pietro’s not really a friendly guy. He’s kind of standoffish with a lot of men. And Warren still has issues about having seen us and the fact that we’re still friends.” She was sure that with a little more time, Warren would fully get past it. Since then she’d made it nothing but clear that she wanted him and no one else. Ari was internally very pleased that Avery had shopped so swiftly and linking an arm through hers, the brunette grinned, “Well done Avery. That was record-time dress shopping. I'm proud of you.” They made their way out of the store, intending on running a few more errands before being completely done for the day. Ari was extremely glad they’d gotten the chance to spend some quality time together, finding that she’d really missed the company of her best friend and also feeling a lot lighter now that she’d shared things with Avery. |
