“You blew up a mall,” Jayson smiled. “Well, when my powers first emerged I didn’t have that much control. I admit it but the only thing I needed to worry about was to stay 10 feet or more away from Violey. Geez, her ‘friends’ made sure of that.” When she said the word friends her gloved fingers performed the infamous air quotes to make the point clear. Violey’s ‘friends’ had actually been her guards. How dandy was that?

Pausing for a moment the stone-turner thought on how she would act if a member of her lost family was found. To her knowledge no family was had except for her long dead parents and a step-family she had no idea how she was related to. Was there a chance for having unknown extended relatives? She sighed and once more stared at the leftover goulash on her plate. It would be nice if that was possible.

"She is a striking girl because of her coloring. I don't know anything else about her. You've nothing to worry about though, Jayson, she's obviously high maintenance. Good team mate potential perhaps, but, I just don't have the time to go to charm school to win her heart," he winked.

If she couldn’t keep her cool (at times) this would be one of the moments in which Jayson would burst out into laughter. The way Havok addressed her worried question it sounded as though he thought she was jealous of one of her closest and dearest friends. The true answer to this was that at a point in time everyone gets jealous of their friends. With Violey and her it was no different. Strange enough the worry in the stone-turner’s voice had nothing to do with jealousy.

“I’m glad to hear that,” she returned Alex’s wink. “Being roommates with her is difficult. I mean it is her being high maintenance and all. A great and true friend makes knowing a person like her wonderful. Her coloring is striking. A bit odd if I must admit but…” she paused for emphases. “Violey would take your ‘striking’ comment kinda the wrong way without explanation. So I would be careful with your words or at least the way you use them around her. After all English is her third language,” Jayson warned with an easy going smile.

"Yes, I've done a great deal of stupid things since evolving, but X-factor is sort of my attonement." Alex shrugged. He laughed at her frustration towards Violey's friends and said, "That is definitely a story I have to hear sometime. But you love her, I can tell." He smiled, "And I don't mean love in a pervy way. It's like me and Maximoff or Scott and Worthington. We get on each other's last nerve constantly, but anyone ever lays a hand on his arrogant white head and they'll get a plasma ring where the sun don't shine." He laughed, "But don't tell him that. I'd never hear the end of it. But talk about a stressful beginning. We were all in the Brotherhood at the time, and his sister had made this weird little grass golem that attacked me. Well, I tried to roast the little bastard and she flipped me ass over tea kettle, pardon my language, and somehow Pietro got the idea that I had started the whole thing and he almost snapped my neck." He shook his head, "Yet, now, look at us... crazy world, you know."

Jayson went on to say how honored she was to be friends with Violey. and Alex nodded, he understood, he really did. Sometimes, it was just right, friendships, as unlikely as they might be. He never would have figured he could enjoy the company of the old worldly unpleasant son of a maniac, but there you go. At her warning though he nodded, "No calling Violey striking to her face, you got it."

"Yeah," Jayson said a little taken aback. "But there is a fine line where we could hate each other." This had always been one of her fears. It was still there. Some nights were filled with nightmares where her closest friend was just that, her enemy. "Dwell not on what could be but on what is," she said before blinking.

"A golem," the stone-turner repeated. "I bet it had to be cute. Wait? You said it tried to attack you or did it?" Just then hearty laughter erupted from somewhere deep within her. Her whole body shook. "That had to be a sight. I mean not Pietro almost snapping your neck. If he had done so then there would be another cute face down the wayside."

Suddenly Jayson's laughter increased. In an attempt to stifle it she covered her mouth with her gloved hands. In a matter of seconds she had used 'cute' to describe two completely different things: the golem and Havok. It was funny. She didn't even care if the joke was her own or even if Alex didn't understand what she was laughing about. It was still funny.

"It’s great that you could find someone to trust," Jayson said as though she wasn't just laughing crazily. "I'm glad me and Violey have trust. Even if we ended up not liking each other one day we would still have that trust." She fell silent and looked once more at her plate. There was no way she was going to eat her goulash now.

At her warning though he nodded, "No calling Violey striking to her face, you got it."

"Good," the red headed muttered. She didn't say why she had warned him. Most people wouldn't believe her anyways. They always had to find out for themselves that there were some things you shouldn't say in front of the golden blonde aerokinetic.

Alex's eyes filled with mischievous light at her words, and his laughter joined with hers. "Cute, huh?" he chuckled, "You think I'm cute?" He picked up an unused spoon from the place setting next to him and made a show of looking into it like a vanity mirror and preening, running his hand through his hair and pulling a 'sext pout.' "Well, Jayson, some people just got it, you know?"

She stifled her laughter with her hands and he set the spoon aside, his chuckles turning into hearty laughter, "This is nice," he said, "I'm glad you sat down here. I've been stressed lately, between the teaching and X-Factor, haven't had much time to just get together with someone and chit chat." He glanced at the clock on the wall and said, "And, unfortunately, what little time I had was up. I have to teach a glass in about seven minutes all the way across the school. Seriously, can you imagine that this was a private home at one point? Good lord. Rich people must have calf muscles like olympic sprinters."

He got up and despite her concerns, took her gloved hands in his and said, "You and I have a dinner date. Figure out what time is good for you and you have my complete and undivided attention for a night of dinner, dancing and delightful conversation... or a burger and a movie, whatever rocks your socks. You can use returning my gloves as an excuse to find me if you need it," he winked.

He released her and picked up his tray, "Intro me to Violey. If she is really interested in X-Factor we need to talk."

And with that, he gave a small wave and headed off. He might just barely make it to his class.
