When: Evening Place in the Timeline: January 2nd Black and white eyes caught him every time. How could he not look into them… look into the eyes of the young woman he loved. He would follow her to the ends of the earth, and back again. He would do anything for her. He was in love, so very much in love, and it hurt to ever think that he may have to someday be without her… St John Allerdyce was most happy he was alone, at a time of night not many chose to venture out onto the roof;; dimly lit shadows didn’t provide a safe place to traverse, for those not familiar with its paths. Shaking his head, John chuckled to himself… he was completely in story telling mode, even his thoughts were all dramatic and full of much more detail than was really necessary. The thing was though, emotion was also a big part of writing, and he’d just finished off a very heartfelt chapter of the Sci-Fi Romance he was currently working on. Tears glistened in the light of the small flame that lit up the page in his compendium, several having already fallen to wet it, a permanent reminder of how hard he’d found it to think about a future without Alix by his side. Why did his mind always move to the negative? Guess it was so ingrained in him he couldn’t exactly help it sometimes. The light tapping of his pen accompanied the gentle sound of the flame now swirling around him, its previously held prone position no longer needed since he’d finished what he’d come up to the roof to do… put into words the thoughts and ideas for the rest of the chapter. Leaning back against the wall, that had been his support for the past couple hours, John closed his eyes, a smile forming. Negative feelings were there to remind him there was always positive ones to counteract them. Picturing Alix’s face, remembering her touch, feeling her lips against his… those were the memories he’d cherish forever, long after the day his negative thoughts couldn't help but take him in writing just moments before. |

Alix was leading a split life- not like the sort of life she had led, when sneaking off to see.. well, god knows what, but instead- it was more.. a team that cyclops couldn't know about. The idea of it bothered her at first of course- but she soon worked past it with the understanding that Alex would explain when the time felt right. When things were set up perfect and the kinks were gone. So she waited patiently. She'd been helping alot, really- small things here and there. It was mildly fun and new for her to participate in the various kinds of jobs; she'd never help set up a home or office or gym- and really, she had enjoyed it. But that didn't mean she still wasn't.. well, Alix.. and that a few moments alone each night or day wasn't going to be in her priorities. But when she realized that John was up on the roof already, she made her way up even faster- only to find him in the writing state of mind that, she rarely ever liked to disturb- the first time she had.. well, she'd ended up feeling terribly. Not at all wanting to suprise or disturb him- especially since he'd sectioned himself off with a whirl of fire, she simply waited. Fully content to sit far enough away that there'd be no issue of fire, but to where when he emerged, he'd see her waitin. |

His eyes still closed, John gave no indication that he’d heard or sensed anyone come up onto the roof, for, with the unique bond they shared, the flame manipulator just knew when Alix was close by. Inwardly, he smiled, and he had no doubt his girlfriend would be alerted to him thinking about her right now, thoughts of, ~Speaking of which, there is the object of my affection, and the very person I couldn’t possibly live without. Hey Babe, are ya blushing yet?~ man, he could be a tease! Still not opening his eyes, the fire swirled til it almost obscured her view of him completely. “You do realise we haven’t been alone together for quite some time now. Not truly alone, I was starting to get worried,” his opened his eyes halfway through the last sentence, looking at her through the haze the heat of his fire caused in the air between them. “And, in light of that fact, why the heck are you sitting all the way over there?” he asked, eyes gleaming with cheek, and the love he felt for the black and white haired telepath. “You know the fire won’t hurt you, because I knew you were here the moment you stepped out onto the roof.” It was special, the link they shared between them, the gentle nudge that could be given to know where each other was at all times. It was by no means as strong as what Jean and Scott shared, but hopefully it would get there someday, because John intended to be with Alix for a long time to come. All he had to do was continue to ignore the dregs of negativity still swirling around in his mind;; the part of him that would always believe he didn’t deserve someone like her. |

She smiled quietly. ::I know.. I've just been.. busy. You too:: she nodded softly- of course she was busy. It hardly seemed that Alix was ever the sort to allow herself too long to sit still, or to dwell too much. Really, it was the best way to distract herself from.. well, everything. Slowing down too much meant she had to think on things. Even still- she did spend a great deal of time; no doubt he would've heard rumors about the various actions she would've taken. Of course- not a whisper of X-factor.. but that was something she'd share herself. ::what have you been doing? I've not seen much of you either.. I.. didn't want to stop you from writing. You were very emotional.:: she moved closer, quietly sitting down next to him before offering her usual quietly pleasant smile, as always paired with an odd, off hand remark that hinted into the fact that she had so much more insight into things that usual; with him it was more so.. but even with others.. She just didn't hold back- she couldn't. For a brief few moments, she turned her attention outwards, looking towards the grounds as she waited for him to answer. |

Busy wasn’t the word, but to let it get in the way of their relationship… that seriously had to stop. ::What have you been doing? I've not seen much of you either.. I.. didn't want to stop you from writing. You were very emotional.:: heck, she was beautiful! Blinking once, he just nodded, “Ah, yeah,” and then, realizing the full implications of her words, blushed slightly. “I was hoping no one would see me, although,” and he leaned over, the fire now a blazing light behind him, taking her gently by the chin and turning her back to face him, “it being you doesn’t worry me. I’ve let you in way deeper,” he admitted, not the least bit concerned about that fact… Not anymore… “As for what I’ve been doing… trying to decide if I want to make my love for writing all official or not, and do some sort of writing course via Correspondence, or some other way to allow me to stay here, because I am so not relocating. Imagine that, we barely see enough of each other as it is, without me moving to some other campus,” as he motioned with his hand for emphasis, the fire followed it, Pyro smiling to himself. He couldn’t help it, it was an element he absolutely adored, and to be able to control it… what a total drag he couldn’t create it as well! A hand moving to clasp behind his girlfriend’s neck, Pyro pulled her in until their lips meant, kissing her gently, and merely intensifying the kiss as the full implication of how much he’d been missing her set in. Seconds… minutes, who knew exactly how long later, he pulled away, the unspoken question passing his lips, “And what, may I ask, have you been doing that has kept you away from me for so long?” ~Read the words, Babe,~ he sent, opening his mind to her, recalling exactly what he’d just written and exactly how he’d just felt while writing them. ~Because I miss ya, and this being apart for so long has to stop.~ |

When he turned her head, she shifted a bit, quietly looking towards him with the same quietly pleasant features. Just barely, she looked quietly surprised at the suddenness of his actions. She listened quietly to him speaking, her strange eyes now focused- not drifting off to the world around them or to the school. When he pulled her in to kiss, she very nearly gasped- hardly used to such sudden actions from him, and hardly prepared for it. For a second- she didn't react before quietly, though uncertainly, falling into it. Really- it wasn't because of him; it wasn't even because of her, or anything.. it was just her nature- quiet, slow- and really, the action didn't bother her. She just.. didn't know what to do. But then the question. She smiled, quietly shifting. She hardly realized that she'd not even told Pyro about X-factor; how exciting it was to be part of a team, and not.. well, whatever it was that she was. She was good in the danger room, but sometimes.. she just didn't feel like she was the same as the other girls her age; they all had so much, were doing so much. ::I joined X factor.. it's.. this team that Alex Summers started... for people who aren't.. well, not like Ms Grey and Cyclops and all the others... people that want to be heroes too, but maybe.. just can't be heroes like they can:: she nodded- suddenly becoming so much more confident. Of course- when it came to being a teenager- or even just a girl- Alix hadn't the faintest clue what to do. But throw her into a danger room, or a speech about goodness and justice.. and the usually quiet, awkward girl became something entirely different. ::I really missed you too.:: she nodded quietly, looking towards him pleasantly. |

Wow, talk about not expecting her to return the kiss equally as passionately. Now, that was certainly a nice feeling, knowing that, even though Alix was a very shy person, around him, well, it did seem that was starting to become a non-existent thing. He seriously needed to update that fact in his novel too, quickly making a note of it while he was waiting for her answer. ::I joined X factor.. it's.. this team that Alex Summers started...:: his reaction was quite literal really, his mouth falling open, yet, the words that accompanied it probably weren’t the ones she may have been expecting. “Ya joined another faction and didn’t tell me about it? How in the world am I supposed to follow you wherever you go if ya keep something like that from me?” he was serious, but there was also a glint to his eyes, just to let her know that he wasn’t angry or anything, merely curious, and worried as to why she couldn’t trust him with that rather significant bit of knowledge. ::I really missed you too.:: and those words just melted his heart, leaning forward to kiss her again, “Yeah Babe, and that’s why this being apart for so long has got to stop. If you’ve joined X-Factor, I’m following, and…” he looked suddenly very thoughtful, “as much as I appreciate everything Scott, Jean, Logan, all of them have done for me here, I feel the same way… I’ll never measure up to them, never,” it wasn’t a case of putting himself down this time, it was a case of stating facts he’d known all along. “Tell me though, how exactly does X-Factor differ?” he asked, more than just a little bit curious now. |

::It just.. it all happened so fast. I met him in the danger room when I was practicing one day.. and I think I helped give him the idea.. or the beginnings of it.. and then it just kind of.. well, he bought an old gym in this area where a bunch of mutants are living now. And.. I didn't keep it from you..:: her gaze shifted downwards.. ::I just hadn't seen you until now... that's all..:: ::there's.. no real difference.. just.. We know we can't be like them. We're not the calvary. We just.. help people. One by one. People like me who might've slipped through the cracks and wouldn't have ever gotten free:: she nodded, quietly trying to explain it the best she could. ::You should talk to Alex. He's the leader and he's really good at speaking about it. And he's really nice too. Like his brother.. only different. He really cares about things too:: she nodded silently- obviously looking up to the younger Summers brother. ::I hope wolverine isn't upset with me about this.. I just had to.. I can't be like Ari and all the others. they're just so.. perfect.:: She sighed, softly. ::I can't be that.:: |

Eyes watched the young girl he loved, careful to listen without being distracted any further by what was on the written page still in his hands. In fact, he placed the compendium down beside him, moving even closer to her than he already was. ::And.. I didn't keep it from you..:: her gaze shifted downwards.. ::I just hadn't seen you until now... that's all..:: he moved to return that gaze upwards, the look on his face telling her he hadn’t meant it the way it sounded;; that she’d deliberately closed off anything to do with X-Factor from him. Not the cavalry, helping people one by one, like her, this was beginning to sound more appealing by the second. The fact his girlfriend was already so convinced, if it had been anyone else other than Scott’s own brother, he may have found himself feeling suspicious about how exactly he’d talked Alix into it. ::You should talk to Alex. He's the leader and he's really good at speaking about it. And he's really nice too. Like his brother.. only different. He really cares about things too,:: oh, there was that bit. Great, he wasn’t exactly known for his ability to just walk up to someone he didn’t know and, in this case, ask them if he could join their team. ::I hope Wolverine isn't upset with me about this.. I just had to.. I can't be like Ari and all the others. they're just so.. Perfect… I can't be that,:: Pyro looked at her for a long time. It was uncanny exactly how much they had in common! “Babe, you’re not the only one who feels like that. I can work in a team, but sometimes, I wanna openly disagree with how it's run. I don’t work well with others, or, at least, the way the X-Men want it done,” he sighed. That was the honest truth. It wasn’t that he wanted to go out and hurt people, but to just sit back and do nothing… well, that didn’t suit him much either. |

It really wasn't so much that Alix didn't work well with others- any team she was on, she quietly and carefully seamed herself in with a grace that was oddly unnatural. Of course, it was the result of her telepathy and her own personal mannerisms that such meshing was possible- her mind easily moving through the team to enhance whatever it was that was necessary. The truth of the matter was more.. she just couldn't be like them. She wanted it- every action she took was in attempts to do something good, to be something right.. but every try seemed to not exactly turn out the way intended. Besides- X factor needed a telepath. And while there were plenty of them about the school, the others were already ingrained into their teams. It'd make sense for her to go with Alex and the others- people as broken and mislead as she. Idly, she raised her hand, quietly shifting to rest it comfortably against his knee- while others would have found this overtly and uselessly deviant in behavior.. from her, it was a sign of comfort; which.. with Alix- was a noticeable change from her nervous demeanor. ::I can go with you to talk with Alex. He'll be happy to have you I'm sure. There's video games too.. though I don't get the use. I'm not very good at the DDR either.:: She offered- half laughing; the video game system a strange joke to her- something akin to a pinball machine in the danger room, or something similarly seemingly useless. She didn't see the point- but the number of hours that Alex spent on the thing seemed to make it have a point... whatever that was. Le Fin |
