When:Just after lunch 1pm Timeline: January 3 Boring. That was basically Skye’s first thought when she opened the door to her dorm room. It had gone quick, meeting up with John and her sister, and then being whisked off to speak with a Professor and now she found herself pushing open the door to her new room. Back home, you’d walk into one of the girls rooms and it would be covered from every surface in clothes, street and practice, makeup, street and show and then touches of each girl’s distinct personality. So to walk into a room that she supposedly shared with someone else, and to find it nearly bare of anything…kinda sucked. Skye just hoped that her new roommate was not a stick in the mud. The redhead walked over to her side of the room and set her 2 duffel bags on the bed before she slid the backpack off her back and tossed it on the bed as well. The first thing that got unpacked was her Ipod and its charger and speaker station. Plugging it in, she turned on a good play list and soon the room was filled with heavy bass and hip hop lyrics. Swann set about unpacking the rest of her things, making sure everything was folded neatly and put away in the closet. Her personal stuff was set in her nightstand and a picture of a blond boy was set on top, right behind the Ipod speakers and the newly plugged in cellphone charger. A pair of ballet point shoes had been laced together and looped up along the top frame of the mirror and the final thing to get unpacked was her own laptop. Yes, the school had provided one for her, but Skye had been given this one as a gift last Christmas, so the other one quickly got taken apart and tucked in her closet. The school could have it back if they wanted it. Skye set her bathroom mesh bag in the drawer of her nightstand and looked around. It…almost felt like home. Green eyes settled on the boy in the picture. “I’m gonna fix this..” She said softly. |

Telepathy, Telekinesis / Empathy

Really- Alix hardly spent much time in the room. From the roof to X-factor, to whatever else it was that she managed to do in her spare time.. She was hardly ever seen about in the halls of the girls' dormitories. However- when she'd been told she had a new roommate, she concluded- despite her personal uncertainties- to at least go and say hello. On the way there, she barely managed to stop herself from 'finding out' about her new roommate- while it was all together expected of her from professors- she was doing as asked, and at least trying to stop herself from picking up random bits of information. It was hard- but.. at least she was trying and managing it. Of course, this time around, she might've been glad to know bits of information about Swann before coming into the room- namely the fact that John had a sister. Something that she didn't even know, much less understand. Family. Really, growing up as she had.. family was up there with all sorts of things that she'd just never achieve. But- right now.. that didn't matter. The second she stepped through the door it was almost painfully clear what sort of opposites the two were- Alix, tiny and fragile and strangely doll like, and Swann- a dancer- and already decorating her room past that Alix had even begun to consider in her 10 months here. Silently, however, despite every bit of social insecurity she had, she held out her hand and gave a quiet- nervous smile. ::Hello.. I'm Alix. I'm telepathic.. and I'm ah.. mute. So I always talk like this.. But.. I'll be your roommate.:: Another nod. While her features remained strangely void of emotion, it was rather obvious in her strange black-on-white eyes that she was nervous. |

Skye had been startled to say the least. She had been spoken to telepathically before, after all, she did have a link to Mana and through her to John as well. But when the voice that spoke was neither of them, she had jumped and whipped around. Green eyes regarded the girl in the doorway. She must be the mysterious roommate. Tiny little thing, Skye walked over to her and took her hand. "Skye, not mute, big mouth at times, and not telepathic but thanks for the warning." She said, flashing the girl a grin. "Doesn't look like you spend much time in here..took me a moment or 3 to figure out which was supposed to be my bed. Hope I didn't take up too much space..and I didn't even bring all of it with me." Skye told her, unphased by the mental speech. "Is that your only ability?" She asked, checking the girl over. Didn't look like the girl...Alix, would be a problem. Also didn't look like she had a giant stick up her ass either. Skye detested the prissy little miss perfects. Drove her nuts. Skye stood back, tossing deep garnet hair back lightly, folding her arms under her chest as she waited for a reply. |

Alix offered a small, barely there smile before nodding. ::It's nice to meet you:: she added pleasantly- still holding back the urge to telepathically find out everything she possibly could. It seemed so simple that way- find out what she wanted to know and be done with it. So tempting- but she wouldn't do it. even with her mind urging her into every which direction possible, she'd work at it as best as she possibly could. ::Not really.. I mostly spend it around.. outside.. or in the city Or with ah.. a friend:: she wasn't sure if she should mention X-factor just yet.. since not everyone knew about it. It really was best to keep it quiet. And she wasn't sure on mentioning John yet either. Really- this whole greeting roommates bit just wasn't really her best skill- then again, meeting anyone wasn't exactly the easiest thing for Alix. ::I'm empathetic and telekinetic too.. How about you? what's your power?:: she questioned pleasantly, never once shifting her gaze off of Skye, or falling out of her emotionless look. Obviously, Alix used a great deal of her abilities to keep her own emotions in check, controlling them and restraining them to the point that it left her utterly emotionless- save for her eyes. ::have... you met anyone here yet? besides the random professors you have to talk to, of course..:: |

Skye watched her roommate quietly, keeping her eyes trained on the girl for a moment as she replied. There was an itching in the back of her mind, almost as if someone were trying to peek into her mind but wasn't or whatever reason. Her physical reaction was to scratch behind her ear needlessly. She shook her head lightly to try and rid herself of the phantom feeling. "I don't know if I could deal with empathy and telekinesis at the same time as telepathy. I don't like having others in my head for the most part. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind you or my brother or sister talking to me that way, cause I'm expecting it." She said, stumbling over herself for a moment. Skye had to keep focus on her own thing and oftentimes that meant cutting said people out of her mind to keep that focus. Maybe here it would be different. "Me? I'm able to use the energy around me, life energy anyway, and can create like..plasma bombs out of it. Can vary in size and strength. Hell of a lot of fun at parties..or scaring the hell out of someone not expecting it. And I am also able to heal others using the energy the same way, but I'm better at the plasma to be honest...but I'm here more for he healing. I want to get better..I NEED to be better." Skye told her "And my brother and sister go here as well, technically my half sister and foster brother by way of her, but I consider them full as i would my other siblings...do you have family?" |

::That sounds like a neat power:: she nodded, visably relaxing a bit before the dreaded question- do you have family? While her reaction to most wouldn't have been exactly the most notable of reactions, she did visably tense, strange eyes shifting to the carpet as memories that she certainly had no desire remembering cropped their way up in the back of her mind. She had a family- well, did. They'd left her for dead, and while she'd watched them from a distance for most her life.. recent events had left the only two she felt a real connection with dead. One.. one had been by her own hands. Not even her mind had done it- it would've at least been quick.. but no. She'd been forced to do it in a way that would have assured her own mental trauma. Alan.. Eventually, her gaze shifted upwards. Supposedly.. she wasn't supposed to lie and hide anymore. She was who she was, and if who she was happened to be a shell-shocked telepath trying her best to make it through things.. then.. that was the answer she was supposed to give. ::Not really.. it doesn't matter though. I.. have accepted it:: She held to her lie; of course, she hadn't accepted at all, and tiny pings of jealousy rose in the back of her mind before she quietly realized exactly which family she was talking about.. ::You're... Pyro's family?:: there was a nagging sort of quiet to her voice- almost as if she had alot more connection to John than just a fellow student. |

"It's an alright power as far as those things go I guess. Like I said, I'm here for my healing. Call it a mission of sorts if you will. A matter of life or death if you'll forgive the drama." Skye said, walking to her dresser and pulling a pair of her dance shoes out of the bottom drawer. Sitting on the edge of her bed, Skye changed out of her street shoes, bound and intent on finding some space in the building that she could practice in. The 2 days of packing and traveling and whatnot, she already felt the urge to find a good open space of floor. However, when Alix asked in clarification about her being family to Pyro, Skye looked up. "I did not say who my brother was." She said, her tone immediately turning a bit edgier. "If we are going to work as roommates...at all, ever, Stay out of my head unless you are talking to me. You won't like what you see." Skye told her coolly. "I don't like it and I don't appreciate it in the least." She told her roommate as she stood and moved up to her toes for a moment to stretch. Her next movement took her to her top dresser drawer where she removed her mp3 player. "Got it?" She asked as she walked past the smaller girl, slipping the earbuds in and turning on the music as she began to walk away. |

There were times that Alix missed the 'this was said' and 'this was thought' mark. Especially when it came to something she happened to think alot on- family especially. Throw John into the mix, and she naturally picked up on his thought processes; finding it naturally easy to pick up on it. She inwardly frowned at Skye's reaction- she really hadn't meant to; people needed to learn not to think so loudly.. ::I didn't ask to go in your head. And..:: she shifted- barely looking toward the carpet before shifting to look towards Skye as she brushed past. For a moment, she shifted- the otherwise emotionless expressions written across her face changing to something akin to.. well, it was hard to pin, but it vaguely looked like some form of scoffing at Skye. ::I've seen far worse thoughts.. I mean..:: She blinked, changing tracks fast. Hey- she was only human, and she had seen quite a hard deal worse than what lay in Skye's mind- Skye didn't even know the least about her, and already was presuming she even had the choice.... ::I was only asking.. I really didn't mean to pick up on it, just.. when it concerns John.. I just.. notice it, without meaning to. He's important..:: The way she muttered "John" suggested something a great deal more than just an acquaintance- or even a friend. There were so many more things that Alix wanted to say; a warning on not asking people about family since more than half the people here had none left, a warning on being.. what was that word Miranda used? She shifted, and sighed- watching Skye. |

Skye turned and looked at her roommate as she continued to speak. Thats right, this girl didn't know that when Skye turned and walked away, that was it. Many had learned over the years. Hands found themselves resting on shapely hips. "Why are you still talking? I left the conversation." She said clearly, meeting the gaze of the other girl. Skye hated..absolutely hated with a passion, when someone invaded her privacy, and that was exactly what Alix had done. If she had been hoping on a friendship with Skye, that chance was rapidly falling out of the window faster then a fat man at a dough nut store on fire. She barely blinked when Alix mentioned that John was important. She wasn't an idiot, she could put 2 and 2 together and come out with 4. "So..you're dating my brother...interesting." She said before closing the subject. "You need to learn how to keep your mind out of others, even if its related to your boyfriend, your mother or fucking Santa Claus...got it?" She asked before turning around once more and continuing. "Cause if you can't, One of us will be changing rooms...and seeing as I just unpacked. it wont be me." She tossed over her shoulder. |

Miranda was in a good mood. Of course, generally speaking, she didn’t have very many days when she was in a bad mood, but today had been especially nice. The weather was just fantastic, sunny and still cool enough that she didn’t feel like she was melting inside her skin every time she stepped outside, and she was just on her way back to her room after having lunch with Roy. A small, pleased smile spread across her lips when she thought about the X-man, and without even realizing it she reached up to touch the diamond tear-drop earrings that dangled from her earlobes. They’d been his gift to her on Christmas, personalized – fittingly enough – with the symbol for gravity engraved in them. It was his mark, and one she was happy to wear. As she strolled down the hall towards her dorm room she caught sight of the open door to Alix’s and immediately made a detour for it. Approaching, she caught the tail end of Skye’s words to a girl she considered one of her best friends, and her mood flattened slightly. What the hell? she thought to herself. She tried not to jump to conclusions, but with the cursing, it was hard, especially with that very last statement. Apparently Alix’s new room-mate didn’t understand that the little telepath didn’t have any control over her thoughts, or she did and just didn’t have any compassion for a fellow mutant. Either way, it was hard to decide which, being ignorant or being a puttana, was the lesser of two evils. Her good mood effectively ruined, Miranda never-the-less decided to play nice for the moment and get to the bottom of the situation before she let her classic Italian short fuse come to play. Besides, Alix was more than capable of sticking up for herself. Hell, the girl could make you think you were a duck for the rest of your life and you wouldn’t be any the wiser. Painting a smile on her face she stepped into the doorframe of the room. “Hey, Alix,” she greeted before her gaze shifted to Skye. “Oh, hey there, new girl. What’s up? I’m Miranda.” She was cordial, her words genuine as she grinned to the new resident. Alix would probably be thanking whatever god she prayed to right then that Mandy hadn’t come in cursing. But Miranda knew that you always caught more flies with honey rather than vinegar…or something like that. Still, Alix would know how hard it had been for Miranda to keep her mouth shut instead of launching into a tirade about how, 1) Alix couldn't help it if she picked up surface thoughts; 2) Alix's mother was dead, and Skye needed to show some compassion; and 3) Alix had seniority -- if someone ended up moving rooms, it definitely wouldn't be the telepath. |

::You're still here, though.:: she retorted- in classically non-aggressive, but still vaguely confrontational manner. Definitely passive aggressive- but then.. who couldn't be? Besides- Skye, for being as uppity and as hating of invading privacy as she was.. certainly was assuming alot. She huffed, quietly- and just barely, she crossed her arms haughtily; though lost the stance at the mention of mother and boyfriend. If Alix hadn't been the poster child for passive aggressive tendencies, she probably would've muttered something along the lines of "I'd keep my mind out if you didn't think so loudly." and "You might've unpacked, but your side still looks cluttered. And I've been here longer" But- being who she was, she just nodded; keeping quiet. Quite possibly, if Miranda hadn't shown up at that moment, she would've probably said something- thank god, at least, it wasn't Riva. Miranda at least could be cordial. Riva would've shouted first, asked later.. ::Hey Mandy.. this is Skye. She's my new roommate:: Alix nodded- and motioned between the two; visably thankful for the interlude that Miranda had provided by coming to visit. No more arguing; because really, Alix wasn't the best at it, nor did she enjoy it in the least. |

This was starting to wear on her nerves something wicked by this point. All she wanted to do was get out of the irritating situation that had come up and go dance. But nope, fate decided to throw someone else at her. Someone else with a lovely little attitude and a lack of respect. Skye once again turned and looked at the girl that had spoken to her, no doubt running to Alix's protection. "I have a name, so don't call me new girl. Thank you very much." She said lightly, folding her arms under her chest. "Now whats up is my wanting to go find a place in this school where I can practice..or is that asking too much?" Skye asked. The redhead dancer sighed. "Look, I'm under a lot ofpersonal stress, so right now, it's probably a good idea if you guys just kinda left me alone for now. I'll stay out of your way and you can stay out of mine. Does that sound like a decent enough idea for you guys? Or do I need to bow down and kiss your feet to get that to happen?" She waited a response from either one, at this point she didn't care who. |

Miranda had been nothing but nice when she’d greeted Skye, but her goodwill towards the girl quickly went out the window the moment she opened her mouth. Now that was an attitude. She held up her hands palm outwards, as if she was warding off an attack (which was actually pretty accurate), eyebrows raised in surprise. It had been quite a while since she’d run into this kind of snobbery, and while her first inclination was to throw it right back, her logical side was actually thinking today and so she refrained from ripping into Swann immediately. Let’s try the diplomatic approach first, shall we? “Whoa whoa whoa,” Miranda said, shaking her head slightly. “Just calm down there. I didn’t mean anything by it, but it’s not like I know your name. Sorry if I offended you or whatever.” Good God, did she actually just apologize? Oh well, too late to take it back now. Miranda hadn’t done anything wrong but apparently Skye thought she had, so maybe an apology was just the thing to bring the new student down off of her high horse before someone less understanding knocked her off it. Mandy was putting her bets on Riva if it came down to that. "Look, I'm under a lot of personal stress, so right now, it's probably a good idea if you guys just kinda left me alone for now. I'll stay out of your way and you can stay out of mine. Does that sound like a decent enough idea for you guys? Or do I need to bow down and kiss your feet to get that to happen?" She dropped her hands to her hips and her first inclination was to snap, ’And you think anyone gives you a crap about your problems?’, but she glanced to Alix briefly and curbed that burning desire to verbally bitch-slap her new roommate. Instead, she let out a brief sigh. “Look. We all have our issues, and it sucks if you’re having personal problems, but that’s no reason to take it out on us. Pardon my language, but I haven’t done a damn thing to you, and knowing Alix, I don’t think she has either. And really, no offence or anything, but this isn’t the best way to act when you’re meeting the people you’re going to be living with for the next little while.” Miranda fixed her gaze on Swann and raised her eyebrows in a questioning manner. “So? Are we good here? Here, y’know what, let’s try this introduction thing all over again,” she said with a small grin. She was by no stretch of the imagination being rude or condescending, she was just trying to patch things up before they went all Mean Girls on each other. “I’m Miranda. Nice to meet you, Skye. Where are you from?” Her question was a nice, safe conversation starter; most people liked to talk about where they were from. |

Alix was more than thankful of Miranda's choice to say nothing; it made things easier, and while before Alix had been beginning to rise up in a quiet sort of defensive- now.. well, now she was far from even beginning to talk. Her posture shifted a bit, and just barely, she crossed her arms- no longer even really listening anymore. Skye was very different from John- even from Mana. Spoiled, self centered- behind her emotionless features, Alix's mind whirled into all sorts of things she could say- but definitely wouldn't. Thoughts were thoughts, and lucky Alix.. no one heard hers; at least, not anyone that was in the area. When Skye went into the launch, she almost had decided to just end it, and apologize. But then the last utterance. "Or do I need to bow down and kiss your feet to get that to happen?" But- she kept silent; though had resolved, by this point, to stay clear of this apparently self centered little girl. Sure, she was here to help a friend; and that was all well and good and noble. But it certainly gave no one the right to go around like some spoiled prom queen who didn't get her way. Everyone at the school had problems. Privately, she was more than thankful for Miranda's intervention- once again, she'd probably curbed what would've been possibly the first time Alix had ever even dreamed of telling someone off. Instead- she just kept silent, strange eyes staring at the floor in efforts to avoid eyecontact. Not only because of feeling nervous; but out of attempts to stay out of Skye's mind. |

Skye stood there, arms folded over her chest and her patience worn as thin as a red hair on a frog's head. Why couldn't they understand that she really just wanted to be alone for a little while? Really. Was that too much to ask? Apparently it was. "I wasn't taking it out on either of you. I was just fine until Alix here had to go sticking her powers into my brain. I hate it, I don't like it, at all. I don't even want my own sister popping around in there." She said evenly. "I already told you both I'd back off if you did, and I tried to walk away, but you kept pushing, so you wanna be cool. Leave me alone for now." Skye said. "You wanna know about me, I'm the baby of my family, dance is my life. I was born in Colorado but have spent most of my life at a private upscale dance Academy in Delaware. Mana is my half sister, Pyro is my foster brother, I suck energy out of things to create plasma balls and I can heal..kinda. I'm here to amp up my healing power so that my best friend doesn't die of cancer....anything else you want to know?" Skye asked. |
