Time of day: Close to lunchtime ^__^ Place in the time-line: Feb 7th, 2008 ... a week 'til the wedding The ever cute Valyn was walking the halls of the Institute, several steps ahead of his big sister Tali. The pale, silvery-white haired siblings had met Pietro Maximoff some time ago. They hadn't meant to put the visit off so long. It was, just, time seemed to go by so fast. How could it be february already? There hadn't been an actual date to when they were supposed to visit him and his sister, of course, but it had been over a month. A somewhat embarrassing amount of time to loose track of. Each of the Dacoras siblings were carrying a basket. Well, Val's was little and only contained cookies, but he was small. A five year old could only carry so much, even if he was a dragon. The little impromptu picnic was his idea. He'd helped make the cookies, as well as the sandwiches and such his sister carried. Actually, he hadn't been much help, but he hadn't gotten in the way too much at least and it was the thought that counted right? "Slow down, Vally," Talyndal told her brother, a gentle smile on her face as she watched him. He was such a sweet child, and adjusting to life at the mansion wonderfully. Unlike her. She was still clueless when it came to dealing with the other residents. It was funny. At times, her old personality bubbled back to the surface, but ... usually she couldn't react normally anymore. Five years of isolation could do that to a girl, it seemed. Though, Val seemed to be handling the change quite well. |

He had little to do today, quite honestly, which worried him. Pietro Maximoff, even when he was an addled child, had always had some chore or task set before him. Usually he quite failed in his duty, becoming distracted by the fall of the leaves in the woods, or the babble of the brook. He had had such little focus as a child. Now as an adult, he was able to use the rapidity of his brain and his body to sort through the stimuli of the world, to no longer get overwhelmed. Which had now, the opposite effect of getting boring. He could no longer be content watching the stars in the sky or following the flight of a hummingbird. Wanda was busy in the greenhouse, and Avery was off somewhere with Ari. Even Alex was having a training session in the danger room with one of the students he was helping, so Pietro Maximoff was on his own, and bored as he could be. He was, to try and alleviate the doldrums, playing on his violin, in the small apartment he and his sister had been given. The music that issued from the instrument was strange and frenetic, far more rapid than any mere human could play. He danced as he played, moving with a grace and skill that he had developed after years of mutancy. He was often embarrassed of what he had been and tried to forget it. But when he played he couldn't help but miss his home. |

"This is it, isn't it?" Valyn asked, motioning at the hall they were walking down. They had been wandering around for a while, after realizing the interesting point that neither of them were quite sure about where the Maximoff's suite was. However, now, they were in the right place. Finally. "Yes, it seems so," Talyndal said, glancing down the hall. It didn't take them much longer to reach the entrance to the rooms. The silver haired girl shifted the small picnic basket in her arms to knock lightly on the door. "Hello..?" she called quietly. Blinking, she heard music from inside. Completely unfamiliar, but hauntingly beautiful. "Pietro!" Valyn called cheerfully, practically bouncing in place. 'Helloooo, it's Valyn!" The cute little dragonboy was a little ... energetic. And, he was in a rather interesting mood. He was wondering all morning whether he and Pietro would get to race, though he knew that the other could go much faster than him it'd be fun. Very fun. And, meeting the white haired man's sister would be nice. They'd all be best friends! Thoughts going off on a tangent, he thought of his 'bestest of friends' Rosie and Meg. It had been a while since he'd really played with them. He had to think of something fun to do with them sometime soon.. |

Pietro lowered his violin at the knock, not recognizing the first voice. He frowned, no one ever came to visit them, not really, not even people who had been their friends. Life had become very complicated, with X-Factor up and attempting to make a difference, and the wedding taking up so much of everyone's time on the home front. He spent as much time as he could with Avery, without neglecting his sister, and the world was a balancing act that he was just barely capable of maintaining, so the hassles of his friends and family he was able to understand. After all, they were nowhere near able to manage their time like he was. "Pietro!" Valyn called cheerfully, practically bouncing in place. 'Helloooo, it's Valyn!" Pietro smiled, and set his violin on the table. He looked quickly around the room to make certain that everything was in its place. Not that they had much, but what they did have needed to be put away. Beneath everything, Pietro and Wanda were two young people who had grown up with no real possessions, and so had learned to cherish what they had. Everything on display to be enjoyed, but everything kept safe from clumsy hands. Besides, Wanda would be mortified if he allowed guests to come in if his socks were thrown all over the floor. He opened the door, to greet his guests, and said, "Well, if it isn't the young dragons. Hello to you both, is this a pleasant visit or is there something I can do for you on this dull blustery winter's day?" |

"Hiya Pietro!" Valyn said, looking up at the adult with a bright smile when the door was opened. He raised the small wicker basket he was holding for inspection. It was covered with a cloth, but there was the delicious scent of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies coming from it. "I made you cookies!" he explained happily. He had helped a lot. He'd gotten all the ingredients his sissy told him, he mixed them all in a big bowl, and then he put the circles of the batter onto the cookie sheets and Tali put them in the oven and then they were cookies! One of the greatest foods ever, in the dragonboy's mind. He thought that Pietro and his sister might like some. "I'd say a pleasant visit," Talyndal said, smiling as well. "Vally thought that a picnic would be a great idea... in one of the lounges, I suppose..." she shrugged. As long as Val didn't change his mind and decide that they would make tents with sheets and such, she didn't see how this could be a problem unless the other didn't feel like it today. "Though, if you've something else you have to be doing, that'd be alright. Right, Val?" She glanced down at the boy. He managed to keep a pout off his face and nodded a little. He knew they probably should've asked beforehand, for all they knew Pietro could be all busy and stuff... |

"My people are not known for baking too much, as cakes and cookies do not do as well in cooking fires as bread does, so I have never had chocolate chip cookies until coming to America," Pietro said, with a smile at the little boy, "And then, they were stale and hard, out of a bag, not at all appetizing. I should very much like to sample what you've made I think, out of curiosity, you understand," He glanced up at the sister and his ultra-serious look was clearly a sign that he was teasing the child. The pair suggested a picnic in the lounge and he said, "I have a much better idea. My sister is in her green house, tending to the plants I brought her. She and Avery have worked together to make in quite a jungle in there. It is warm, and sweet scented, and there is enough room, I think to spread out a picnic lunch in deviance of the cold weather. Would that be welcome to you both?" He offered a hand to take the baskets, since little boys and young ladies should not be pack mules when there were strong and healthy men around, it was unseemly. "I see you brought enough to fill me," he said, keeping his voice free of the joking tone it wanted to slip into, "But I fear there is not enough for anyone else. I am a voracious eater, and perhaps this will be a mere snack." He looked down at little Valyn and gave a wink, "Should I share with your sister or play the glutton and swallow this whole?" he asked as he lead them through the small apartment and out the back to where the greenhouse was. |
