When: Late Evening, 9PM
Place in the Timeline: Evening before the wedding

Lorna slid her key into the front door of the Mansion and opened it with a faint click of metal against metal. Pushing open the heavy oak door, she was met by that most elusive of things at the Mansion; silence. And darkness. This was strange. She knew the bachelor and bachelorette parties had started earlier tonight, but surely there would be someone around looking after the kids. Or at least some kids. Wheeling her suitcase in through the doorway after her, Lorna reached for a light switch, immediately bathing the entrance way in bright light.

Setting her suitcase up right, Lorna moved further into the room, the only sound being the material of her jean clad legs moving together and the tap of her heeled boots. A faint smile curved her lips as she rested her hands on her hips and looked around. It was definitely good to be back. She had hoped to come back sooner, but then her mother had insisted on sorting through her dad's belongings, something which had been hard on both of them and she had ended up staying until this afternoon.

Pushing curling locks of green hair behind her shoulder, she peeked into a few of the rooms that lead off from the entrance hall, but saw those deserted as well. It was a little odd to return to complete calm but she supposed most of the students were up in their rooms or in the communal dorm areas. Turning back towards the main hall, she levitated her suitcase into the air, a green glow encapsulating it as she walked up the stairs, case bobbing behind her. She decided to settle back into her room, then find some food before having an early night. Ari had contacted her about the party tonight, and she had considered joining up with them later on but she was so tired now that she just wanted to curl up in her bedroom.

Rosie had been asleep. Well, she really hadn't, but she'd been told to go to sleep right before her mama and papa left for their respective parties. But honestly, who could sleep? Certainly not Rosie. Instead, she tossed and turned in her bed, finally giving up and fetching toys from around her room and sitting on her bed to play with them. Like there was anyone who'd stop her.

She'd been in the middle of playing pirates with her plush duck, Mandark -- because obviously, ducks made the best pirates -- when there was the briefest flash of headlights outside and below her window. Pausing, Rosie scrambled up, wading through the toys piled on her bed, and wandered over to the window.

Someone was coming to the mansion. Intrigued and happy -- because Rosie just wasn't sleepy, and this would give her an excuse to stay up -- the little girl skipped from her room and down the hall, dragging Mandark along behind her by one wing.

As she drew level to the stairway bannisters that looked out over the foyer, the little girl caught a glimpse of green hair...and promptly squealed, dropping Mandark in her haste to run to the woman coming up the stairs. "Auntie Lorna!" It had been ages since she'd seen the woman that Rosie considered her aunt, or at least seemed ages to her.

Running, Rosie hugged the woman around the legs as soon as she got to the landing. "We missed ya!"

Jennifer REALLY wanted to go to the bachelorette party. However, the rules stated that no one under the age of 18 were allowed at the parties. As such, poor little Jennifer was off by one month. Still, rules were rules...And Jennifer was never one to forcible break the rules.

So, Jennifer sat in the back of the girl's lounge, slowly reading her book. Slightly fuming over the bad timing on her part...still there was nothing she could do about it.

Jennifer was still making an attempt to read her book as some of the other girls played a game of truth and dare. Jennifer tried in vain to ignore the giggling and the conversation of the younger students. Jennifer wasn't really interested in playing these games.

Then, Jenn heard a noise, something like footsteps pattering away. But it was too quick, and too soft for a regular student. That could only mean one thing. Little miss Rosie was out and about. So...The Princess of Light set down her book, and without alarming the others, she slipped into the hallway. After a moments thought, Jennifer Took a moment and steadied herself, focusing on the light around her. Soon, the Photons went awry and wrapped their course around her body, rendering her invisible. She sneaked down the hallway, merely making sure that Rosie didn't get in trouble.

Rosie lead her down the entry way. Jennifer however, didn't hear the door , nor the car that had alerted the little wonderer. Jenn stood on the top of the stair way, merely watching as Rosie as she ran up to the green haired stranger at the door. Rosie seemed to know the woman, so Jenn uncloaked herself and walked down to meet them.

"Hello, there." She said as she reached the ground floor. "My name's Jenn," The Princess said in a polite, yet reserve manner. Jennifer was never one to outright trust someone. "I see that you have already met little Rosie here."

As Lorna cleared the last few steps, she heard the first signs of life in the rapid pattering of tiny feet. The accompanying squeal confirmed who it was and Lorna smiled broadly as she stepped onto the landing, setting her suitcase down behind her. The next moment she was hit by hurricane Rosie, the little girl hugging her tightly around the legs. "Hi Rosie. I missed you too sweetie" Lorna said fondly as she crouched down to give the toddler a hug. She pulled back and brushed her fingers through Rosie's hair, smiling at her.

"What are you doing up so late anyway? I thought only big girls got to stay up late at night." she teased, lightly tickling the girl's side. Really she was glad to see the little girl, even if it meant Rosie was up past her bed time. "Who's looking after you while your Mama and Papa are out?" she asked, pausing her tickling so she could get some sense out of Rosie.

The sound of the stairs creaking lightly alerted Lorna to another presence and she looked up, seeing a young blonde woman walking down towards them. Lorna vaguely recognised her from around the Mansion but they had never crossed paths and she currently couldn't put a name or powers to the face. The name was soon supplied to her and Lorna stood up, giving the younger woman a warm smile. "Hi Jenn, I'm Lorna. It's nice to meet you." she said, introducing herself in return. "I've seen you around the Mansion a few times but I don't think we've met. Have you been here long?" she questioned.

Jenn mentioned meeting Rosie and she smiled again, looking down at the toddler. "Yes, I have; no one can live at the Mansion and not meet Princess Rosie." she commented jokingly. "I had to leave them Mansion on family business a month or two ago but obviously I knew Rosie before I left." she explained more seriously, moving her gaze back to Jenn, shaking her head slightly to move strands of bright green hair away from her face. "I wanted to come back for the wedding though. Are you involved in any of the preparations?" she asked

Rosie beamed happily at her aunt and curled into the embrace, fit to be tied that the woman was here. "Mama 'n' Papa said I had ta sleep when they left. I dunno who's watching me." The little girl shrugged, picking Mandark back up from where she'd dropped it in her excitement. "I'm not sleepy."

This last was accompanied by a fierce nod, showing just how serious she was, even though Rosie was fighting a yawn at every moment. Oh well. "'sides, I'm a big girl!" She puffed her chest out proudly, straightening to make herself taller.

The arrival of Jenn made her grin even more. Jenn wasn't someone she knew very well, but anyone at the Institute was a friend. "See, I's a big girl like Jenn!" She moved to embrace Jenn's knees, then plopped down on the bottom step with Mandark.

"I's hungry." She declared, wiggling just a bit. Never mind that it was nine at night; Rosie was determined to have at least a glass of milk. Besides, since her parents were away she thought that maybe the rules could be bent, just this once. "And Mama and Papa are at parties. I didn't get to go."

The look on Rosie's face betrayed slightly just how disappointed she had been at not being able to go to either of the parties, but really, hanging out with these two was just as fun. Maybe.
