Since Scott's eyes were not visible, he'd become very accustomed to people assuming he wasn't looking at them, which of course was absolutely untrue. He paid more attention that anyone ever knew, judging vocal tone, body position. He wasn't entirely confident on facial expression or changes in skin tone, as in blushing or going pale, for obvious reasons. But he definitely paid attention. Liam wasn't dissembling or playing any sort of game here, he was what he appeared to be, a young mutant in need of help.

At the sight of his sword, Scott raised his eyebrows, "An interesting ability, do you have any idea of what it is made of? We can possibly use our equipment to find out if you don't. We have quite a few resources to help you learn to control your powers to the degree where you can live a normal productive life. What you choose to do with your mastered abilities is entirely up to you."

He lead Liam into his office, a fairly decent sized corner room, with a fireplace on one wall, and a window overlooking the gardens. There was a simple desk and a simple table, the most current computer, though a glance at the monitor would suggest the color was adjusted oddly. Every other space in the room was covered with technologically doodads, some of which were identifiable, some not, and despite the clutter, there was a definite order to it, precise and tidy. Several model airplaces hung from the ceilings, and filled in the spaces in the alphabitized bookshelf. Scott Summers was obviously a little too detail oriented, but apparently an incredibly busy man with a love of all things technological.

He took his seat behind his desk, and brought up a file on his computer, peering at it through his red glasses, seriously. He offered Liam the seat opposite him and said, "Your father did make arrangements for you, everything looks to be on the up and up, your school records and health records transferred over. The paperwork is all signed, is dotted and ts crossed, so that's the legalities taken care of. But, this tells me nothing about you. I know your history now, your background, but I still know nothing about you. Tell me, Mr. Linton-Davis, what is it you want out of this school?"

Liam followed him into his office, it had been in the principals office of his old school a handful of times, a small room with a red carpet floor and cream walls with a few pictures, plants and filing cabinets around, rather generic really. This office, was most certainly far nicer, and this was only a proffessors office.

"An interesting ability, do you have any idea of what it is made of? We can possibly use our equipment to find out if you don't. We have quite a few resources to help you learn to control your powers to the degree where you can live a normal productive life. What you choose to do with your mastered abilities is entirely up to you."

The Irish youth looked over the blade of his weapon and shrugged his shoulders. "No idea whats its made of, it looks and feels like metal, couldn't really tell you what kind, it grows and moves and stuff so its not any regular metal so if you want to find out what kind of material it is we can use that equipment of yours, can't say I'm not curious to find out myself anyway." He mused it over as he ran a finger along its broadside, it was smaller now then when he first met Scott, just seeing that it was smaller was almost enough to make it smaller and finer still. It was handy sometimes to have a visible way to see how confident he was feeling.

The sense of confidence was lost for a moment as the man before him went to his computer, looking up for Liam's hopefully existing application to the school. He felt the palms of his hands sweat, he bit his upper lip...

"Your father did make arrangements for you, everything looks to be on the up and up, your school records and health records transferred over. The paperwork is all signed, is dotted and ts crossed, so that's the legalities taken care of. But, this tells me nothing about you. I know your history now, your background, but I still know nothing about you. Tell me, Mr. Linton-Davis, what is it you want out of this school?"

The sigh of relief Liam gave was hardly hidden, genuine relief washed over the boy and his sword became a very fine katana like weapon, he felt much better. "Out of this school? Hmm...well finished my education would be a good start, but mastering my abilities with the sword would be nice, I suppose its not the most outlandish mutantion so once I had really manipulate it I won't have to worry about police thinking I'm some nutjob carrying around a sword, which would probably make life easier." It had happened before, would probably happen again, didn't bother him too much, he'd rather the police talk to him about carrying around a sword rather then not talk to him at all and risk that he is a nutjob carrying around a sword.

Scott watched the boy interact with the sword, almost stroking it like one would do a bet. He wondered at the sentience of the weapon, which might seem like an odd thought, but, he had returned from the Savage Land in a spaceship that had telepathically linked him to itself for the duration of the flight... This was not an average life, not an humdrum existence, not by a long shot. Liam told him how it responded to his emotional state and Scott nodded.

"It might be possible, in that case, to help you via meditation techniques and training, to consciously manipulate its size and shape," he said, "In fact, I would suggest that become your first priority, outside of proper weapons handling. Have you ever taken a class or training in swordplay? I'd like, I think, to schedule you a session with one of our Professors here, Warren Worthington so that he can evaluate your skill level. He has swordsmanship experience and can train you in the proper use of it. I am not overly fond of teaching the students offensive weapons command, but I think in your case it would be a requirement. It would do you no good to slice yourself to ribbons with your own sword, would it."

When Liam mentioned continuing his education, Scott nodded, "I'll set you up, also, with the headmistress, Mina Harker, who'll look at your education level and test you to see what classes you belong in. We don't run on a standard September to June school schedule, for obvious reasons, and a lot of the coursework is done at your own pace, but we do require a certain level of class attendance, as we've determined that it helps with socialization, something that a great deal of our students don't have because their mutations or histories have prevented that."

He tapped in the requests to Mina and Warren to meet with Liam and smiled, "One last thing and I think you'll be all set. We have several team squads here, to make sure each student has a 'mentor' of sorts. I am going to assign you to my team, the Corsairs. You'll be required to attend squad training on a regular basis, and to learn about your teammates, who you'll be meeting shortly. I am also the one you should come to for tutoring, or if you have an issue with your dorm mate... or whatever it is that is making your time here less than comfortable."

He looked over at the boy, "You'll be rooming with Piotr Rasputin, a young man about your own age from the Ust-Ordynski Collective in Siberia, Russia. He's been here for a little while, and I'm sure he'll be able to explain to you how things really work around here. As much as I love my rules and regulations, I'm not so blind that I don't see that the students bend them at every opportunity. So.... are there any other concerns you have, or should we get you up to your room?"

Liam listened and gave a nod when Mr. Summers spoke about meditation and training, he knew something like that would work, it did work. "I'm already studying shotokan, its really helped in alot of aspects of my life, but its definatly helped with my mutation, I don't know if I'll be ever to manipulate its size, but I can manipulate it to a degree, I've made it break into shards a few times, sounds like a stupid thing to do but when I can move the blade with my mind, well its good for more then cutting my hair. But I'd be quite excited to try out another style of martial art if at all possible, Tai'Chi is supposed to be good for meditation."

He was even more excited when Mr. Summers discussed more sword training, Liam couldn't deny that he loved his martial arts in general and it was hard to call between the shotokan and the kendo, but the kendo had that sword advantage..although Iado would be very, very interesting to learn.

The Irish youth was nodding as he was listening, this all sounded pretty interesting, some new tricks might give him that extra edge next time he actually needed to use his sword. "Oh don't worry I know how to use it, when it first appeared my dad suggested I get Kendo lessons, I guess the martial arts are bit of a hobby of mine really. But if you have someone in the bulding that knows swordsmanship I'd love to continue my training, you know since my trainer isn't here he won't be training me anymore, same with the Shotokan now that I think about it..." That was rather annoying, his two martial arts would have to stop unless he found someone in the area that could teach him, well fingers crossed this Warren Worthington would be handy. Fingers crossed indeed.

Next he told Liam about the headmistress, a Mrs. Harker and his future educating, wasn't as interesting as continuing his training but also a important part of the whole being in a school system, besides, hitting the books never killed him before, wasn't going to kill him now. "Don't worry, I'm not one to skip my schooling, I'll attend the classes no problem, not used to classes though, well I was schooled at home by someone my dad brought in. But I'm sure I'll manage."

He listened still when this "Corsair" business was explained, sounded like they were training little fighting teams, or squads even, hell he'd fit right if that was the case. Liam just replied with a nod as his mentor explained the whole thing, and eventually started explaining his room-mate...he wasn't even going to pretend he'd remember the name of the place that guy was from, although Piotr Rasputin was an easy enough name to remember, wouldn't be too bad. Russians had interesting accents, so they'd have a Russian and an Irish in the same room, they'd probably end up friendly, oh the Americans kids would get a kick out listening to these two speak, he knew it already.

"No, everything sounds fine, how about we head to that room?"
