Time: 12:05am
When: February 13(day before Scott and Jean's wedding)

Piotr knew he shouldn't be out. Really, he shouldn't be awake. When he'd seen the clock inside the school when he snuck out, it had said it was just after midnight. But, Scott and Jean's wedding had him both excited and nervous. The big day wasn't for another 24 hours, and then it would be filled with the air of love and wedding festivities. He already had a tux, although it was a bit small, it would do for what he needed it for. But, he wasn't just psyched for the wedding itself. He had his own plans for it all.

The rumors in the school floating around were that Kitty and Bobby had broken up. And although he wasn't sure how she was handling it, Piotr hadn't been able to bring himself to go see her and find out. He had plans for the wedding reception though. He'd hoped to maybe use the actual wedding as a date kinda thing, but wasn't sure if that would be right. Was it ethically okay to ask someone to a date to someone else's wedding. Maybe it was okay to escort someone to one, but it just didn't seem right.

But, the reception was his perfect chance. He'd actually been learning how to dance, using the free time he usually spent drawing to do so. Last time he'd tried to dance... well, it was a disaster. So, he wanted to be sure if he got his courage up to ask Kitty for a dance, he would be able to actually come through with it. But, all these thoughts rumbling through his head, Piotr hadn't noticed that he'd finally arrived at the pool, where it laid darkly. Walking to the switch, he turned the pool lights on, and pulled his shirt up over his head.

Piotr stood for a moment in nothing but a long pair of swim trunks. Stepping to the deepest end of the pool, he took a deep breath, and readied his body. Pushing against the edge of the pool, he launched himself in, diving low to the bottom and touching the floor of the pool, enjoying the warm water flowing across his skin.

Piotr stayed under for a few second before he swam back to the surface. Running his fingers through his hair, he pulled it out of his eyes, opening his eyes to see a blurry figure. Wiping his eyes, he tried to identify the person through the water running from his hair and down his face.

Place in Time Line: About a day before "A Rose is a Rose"

Anna couldn't sleep that night. The excitement in the air seem to have swept her into a frenzy, that had left Anna tossing and turning in her bed. Finally the Chaos Queen rolled out of the bed, and began to pace though her side of the dorm, careful not to disturb the sleepy plant manipulator on the other side.

Finally, the world was starting to make sense...though her sister's arrival at the institute was a surprise, though a pleasant one, (after she banished Lesly from ever coming to her room ever again, that is) Still, their was something in the air that simply kept Anna up, the excitement, the anticipation, whatever it was...it worked.

Anna snuggled in the bench be the window, gazing out over the snow covered grounds. the clean snow reflecting the light of the nearby town, and the far away stars. a vague swirl of homesickness pinged at her heart, remembering the snow covered Tetons off in the distance, over looking her hometown.

Then, a light clicked on somewhere on the grounds. Anna's sharp eyes snapped over to the disturbance, zeroing in on the break in uniformity. She stared long and hard, trying to figure out what that rectangle of light was.

"The Pool" she whispered, leaning forward, and sitting down on her knees, though her night shirt. She quickly glanced over at the slowly breathing body of her roommate. She breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to the pool, tucking a rebellious strain of hair behind her ear.

It looked like someone was out there, swimming there, sizing up the pool water before diving into the heated water.

"What the heck?" she breathed again. Someone was using the pool, in the middle of winter? What was going on? A strong surge of curiosity pushed though her sense of duty, somehow forging themselves into one thought.

She ran over to her closet, and grabbed her long coat, and tiptoed out to the pool.

It was about the point when she hit the icy cold air that she truly wondered what the hell she was doing out here. If there was an intruder on the grounds,., she should have notified one of the staff, or at least one of the older students who were "babysitting" them. But, of course, Anna also had a spark of curiosity that need some oxygen, the slight tingle of badness, of not following the rules excited her somewhat. not only that...it was too late to turn back now.

She stormed across the grounds, head straight to the pool. Once she reached the waters edge, she saw the faint water figure off a man..a HUGE man swimming calmly underneath the water.

"HEY!" she yelled as he bobbed up to the surface, fear and courage coursing though her in equal strength. "You better get out of here mister!" She yelled, trying to scare the trespasser. Wildly, she brought her tiny fist up to her face, taking on a, If it were possible, a cute battle stance. "I'm warning you...I'm a mutant!" She taunted.

As if on cue, the Strings that stitch together the fabric of space time began to vibrate, to sing her threat. The sub-sonic roar build underneath their feet, the air, their skin, building in intensity, as the fragments of light peeled themselves out of Neverland.

Anna stepped back, glancing around at the lights, willing them to stop. "Oh NO!" she screamed, as her reality wrapping power went on with out her consent. The fragments of rainbows and light swirled around the far end of the pool, the deep end. The water lowered, slight there, and the water, following the rules of liquids, flowed in to fill the void. But the strings were faster, and soon, the deep end of the pool was bone dry, with the rest of the pool at bay.

But it didn't stop there. For the Strings Fragments wizzed over to the other side of the pool and added the water there, in the shallow end, The mountain of Water surged up to a high of four, six, eight feet, and more. All that water just standing there, waiting for the reconstruction.

THe Strings stopped, and feel back into the order of things. Unfortunate for the trespasser though, because now that column of water was under the standard rule of matter and gravity...meaning The tidal wave was about ti hit...

"Oh God..."

Piotr blinked, and finally his vision cleared enough to see. He smiled slightly as he noticed a semi familiar face, even in the dark. Piotr had been slightly unhappy when he'd come out to the pool and it had been heated, proffering the feel of cold water on his body. Growing up in Siberia, it wasn't unknown for Piotr to have gone out when it was 40 degrees out and go swimming, sometimes in even colder water if he was really in the mood. But, the warm water was doing a pretty good job of washing the stress from his body.

Piotr heard her say something, and kicked harder so his head came farther above the surface, shaking his head to get the water out of his ear." What was that?" He asked. Suddenly, he felt the water around him moving, and watched as he slowly went down, watching the water move out to the shallow end. Piotr stared dumbfounded. You'd think after a few years nothing would astound the Russian mutant. Certainly the huge tidal wave before him was no exception.

Piotr landed barefooted on the bottom of the pool, watching the large body of the water come cascading down at him. There was far too much water for him to take as he was. With no more than a flicker of a thought, his body began to reflect the lights in the pool. His skin, as well as the rest of his body, began to solidify. An instant later, he was a living metal statue, standing at an even seven feet.

Piotr stood there calmly as the wave crashed into him. Piotr dug his toes into the ground, carefully not to break the pool as he crossed his arms in front of him, taking the blunt force of the water. It barely pushed him back, and only because the pool was still a bit slick from the water. When it had finally settled, Piotr's chest moved up and down as if he was still breathing, although without lungs he didn't need to. It was just a force of habit.

He was under for a few seconds before he returned his body back to normal, and pushed off, floating up and breaking through the surface of the water. "I was aware it's after curfew, but I didn't think people would be that mad I was out here." Piotr joked loud enough that she could hear, but trying not to be so loud as to disturb anyone inside the school.

Anna screamed in horror as the wave crashed over the man. She didn't want, didn't even expect that to happen. Anna was about ready to dive into the pool to save him, but that would have been a bad idea, being that it was below freezing outside, and her light body would have been swept away in the current, and slammed into the side of the wall. So, Anna could only watch in sheer horror as the wave crashed on top of the man.

The Water sloshed up over the side, but sloshed back down to the pool. Anna was frozen in anticipation as she watched the man at the bottom of the pool. Was he Shining?

Soon the Man changed back and floated back up to the surface.

"I was aware it's after curfew, but I didn't think people would be that mad I was out here." Piotr joked loud enough that she could hear, but trying not to be so loud as to disturb anyone inside the school.

Anna first breathed a sigh of relief, then cocked an eyebrow at the man calmly swimming in the water. "What?" she asked, slowly walking back towards the pool. "How did?" She said \, Waving her hand from one side of the pool to the other, trying to the figure this out. "Are you ok?" She asked, kneeling down to the pool, trying to get a better look at the guy. It was about then that she recognized the newest fact to the school.

"Oh my gosh, I am SOOO sorry.." She stammered as a blushed over her cheeks, "I thought someone had broken in, and I was checking it out, and..." She stopped, and closed her eyes, slamming a fist to her forehead, "My GOD, I'm such an idiot..."

She reached over to offer to help the man of steel out of the pool, or a hand of truce, what have you. "My name is Anna, by the way..." She offered.

Piotr couldn't help but grin happily. At least she felt bad for it. At least, it was him in the pool. Had it been anyone else, he shivered at the thought of what could have happened to them. That had been a lot of water, possibly enough to kill a normal human. Well, at least enough to seriously hurt someone.

"Being a mutant helps a lot with protection. But really, I'm fine." Piotr said with a slightly shy grin. Now that he could see her better in the pool light, he noticed she was cute. Instantly he'd gone from confident man that couldn't easily be hurt, to a nervous bumbling idiot. Well, he would have if he didn't bite his tongue to keep from saying something stupid, as he always seemed to do around cute girls.

Piotr waded his way over to the side of the pool. He felt sad to be leaving the warm waters of the pool, but figured a conversation might be a bit easier if she could actually see him. Piotr carefully took her hand, which was so small in his own, and carefully shook it. He didn't want to risk using her hand to help pull himself out. He doubted she would be much of an anchor. Chances were he would end up pulling her in with him.

Taking the edge of the pool in his large hands, his muscles rippled as he pushed himself up out of the pool and stepped up, warm water cascading over his body as it ran off into the pool and on the sidewalk. "Think nothing of it. I enjoy being pounded with a few thousand gallons of water. It's a failed day if I don't." Piotr said, feeling a bit bad for having startled her.

"Oh, and I'm Piotr." He muttered as he finally stood to his full six foot three height, water still running over his chest and back, making him shimer slightly in the pool light.

Anna, your timestamp is wrong. This happens the morning of the 13th, the Rose thread is the morning of the 14th

"Heya, lovebirds," came a cheerful voice. Alex Summers stood at the edge of the pool, dressed too lightly for the weather, but not feeling the cold thanks to his powers. He'd been returning from the city, early for once so that he could be well rested for the Bachelor party tonight, when he heard the commotion at the pool, "It's a little chilly for a midnight swim, isn't it?"

He knew Piotr, a bit, and had met Anna once or twice, but he didn't really know either of them a lot since neither was in the geology glass he taught here. The school was filled with people and his attentions had been so focused between teaching and X-Factor (he still couldn't believe that it was working out the way it was working out) that he'd probably been neglecting social niceties.

He honestly had no idea what time it was, since he couldn't wear a watch anymore, but he was pretty certain it was past curfew for at least Anna. He wasn't sure what the rules were for the Jr X-Men who weren't students anymore. "You two should probably not be making a ruckus out here or Scotty's going come stomping down here shaking his cane and telling you whippersnappers to get off his lawn. He's on edge. Whole getting hitched forever and ever tomorrow kinda winds a guy up."

Thanks Heather

Anna blushed and turned away as Piotr stepped out of the pool. A hot flushed washed over her body, causing even more embarrassment if it hadn't have been for the coat, she would have been blushing all over.

Okay...so the guy is cute, doesn't mean you have to fall apart Anna. she thought, turning around and sighing. She looked him over, in a critical way, still amazed that almost anyone could be a mutant.

"Wow, I'm...so sorry about that..." She apologized more then enough already. But it wasn't enough...She didn't recall wanting to call forth her powers...it just sorta happened...without her knowledge or her consent. What could have...

Anna stared at the pool, almost seeing the tower of water rising up on some poor innocent child swimming in the pool. The water crashing down, slamming them into the far wall...the infamous question that consumed many mind after a close call

"What if..." She whispered aloud, before shaking herself out of the hypnotic replay of events that didn't happen...but still could.

"Well, it's a good thing you were in there, and not anyone else, right?" she said, smiling weakly at the scantly clothed man in front of her. Still, the images flickered before her minds eye, as if she were seeing the different possibilities of this event. All the more reason to be at this school, and all the more reason to practice herself under controlled conditions.

Another voice broke her out of the endless loop she was caught in, and almost made Anna jump into the pool in fright. A faculty member was walking over. She blushed a bit more at his comments and then spoke up in her..er their defense

"I wasn't swimming, sir. I saw that the pool light was on, and decided to investigate." She said, shivering a bit before continuing. "I didn't mean to cause a ruckus..." she said sincerely, tucking her chin slightly before tucking her hands in her trench coat. Anna had totally forgot that it was the dead of winter outside, and was regrading second of it. Her thin nightshirt underneath her clothing did little to keep her warm.

She rolled her eyes at the man's comment about Mr. Summers. it might have been in light humor, however, she was still breaking curfew. "I am sorry about breaking curfew sir..I am sure that I can just...sneak back up stairs, and act like I was never out here..."

However, Anna never moved an inch, still waiting for a sign from the teacher that she was off the hook. She was never the trouble maker of the family...

Piotr blinked slightly as the water finished leaving his body, though a few beads of moisture still clung to his skin across his body. Piotr thought he could see a bit of red to her cheeks when she turned away. He quickly wrote it off as something else and walked over to where he'd put his shirt and towel and began to try to dry off his chest a bit, the sting of the cold air a bit uncomfortable even for him.

When he felt he was dry enough, Piotr pulled his t-shirt on, feeling it cling annoyingly to his still slightly wet body. It was then that he noticed Havok, and sighed slightly. He'd been told he didn't have to follow curfew as heavily, but they had proffered that he not be out too late. He figured midnight couldn't be too bad. But, he realized Anna might not be able to get out of it so easily.

"Eh, growing up in Siberian weather makes this look like Hawaii. Plus," Piotr said, pointing to the pool. "It's heated. I had a lot on my mind, so I came down for a quick swim to try to clear my head." Piotr rubbed his hands together slightly before he casually pushed his hands into the pockets on his swimming trunks.

Piotr's face reddened slightly when Alex said something about love birds. "Woah there, Havok. It isn't like that at all.I guess I startled her, and she came down to make sure no one had broken into the school for a night time swim."

"So, uh, if anyone gets in trouble, it should be me, not her." Piotr said nervously. He really didn't want to be in trouble, but there was no way he would let Anna take any of the blame for this. She was doing what was right, and he probably shouldn't have been out swimming in the middle of the night.

"Well then, I guess it's good that his nice forgiving brother found us instead?" Piotr said hopefully. He wasn't sure how well flattery would work, and hoped neither of them would get in trouble for it.

"Woah there, Havok. It isn't like that at all.I guess I startled her, and she came down to make sure no one had broken into the school for a night time swim."

Alex smiled and glanced at Anna, "The big metal man doth protest too much methinks," he teased. "It's ok if you want to have a moonlit tryst, I'm not your father, and Valentine's is coming up, so between that and the wedding hub bub, love is in the air. Ah. l'amour..." He looked back at Piotr, "And, please, call me Alex, Summers if you must, but not Havok. That's only for the field, and really, even then, it's not the most flattering of code names... accurate, you realize, but a little insulting." His tone suggested he was being flippant... Alex, not taking something serious? The hell, you say.

Piotr nobly took the blame for the commotion, even though the slightly sheepish look on the girls face suggested that the bulk of the disturbance had been at her hands, and Alex smiled. He didn't know much about Piotr, though his accent was close enough to Pietro's to give him a hint that they had come from a similar culture. The romaly were a little less bound by the rules of law, but they were tied to tradition, and honor, so, Alex was not very surprised to hear Piotr take the same sort of stance regarding the responsibility and protection of the fairer sex.

Alex's smile was wide as he said, "I think maybe it would be ok just this once, but if I were you, I'd keep it down a little. Scott's room is all the way in the other wing, but he can sense rule breaking a mile away, especially if there's a commotion."
