When: Sometime after State of School address. Everett had been mooching around the mansion lost in thought or just not in the mood to do anything else. Thought’s and personal fears plagued him nightly and now they had spilt over into his days. Synch constantly put on a brave face but in a school full of mutants who could rummage through his mind like dirty laundry or read the name on his underwear without him taking them off secrets where hard to keep. What he needed was answers, reassurances and even advanced warning. Suddenly a plan was forming in his mind that was very sinister and simple in its evilness. “Hmmm now I know how Darth Vader feels.” Synch said with a wicked grin of malevolence. “All I need now is the mutant in mind with the right powers.” With that Synch disappeared on his random hunt got Blindfold and her Precognitive abilities. Really he didn’t know if he was going to ask her if she knew anything of the future or just copy the powers and do it himself. Synch stopped midstride and thought. “As cool as seeing the future would be. It would ruin the surprise and everything what a conundrum. “ With a shake of his head, Synch continued his search for the mystic meg of mutants. |

Alone Ruth Aldine better known to those residents who make up the student body here in the Xavier institute as Blindfold sat quietly in a large chair facing the fire chamber in the far corner of the room. Ruth normally would never be outside her room unless their was dire need for her to be out, but honestly she just didn’t like having random people all crowd her room. After that damn accursed speech that Scott Summers delivered in the dinning hall Ruth had a plethora of students, and even some teachers come to her. Seeking some sort of fact of the future to give them some kind of security about the present. It grew to such a bother that Ruth left her room coming to a more public place. With any luck no one would think to find her here seeing as she’s usually in less public domains like the library or places like that, that people tend to stear clear from. Sitting in the large chair resting her head against it’s unnaturally comfortable back Ruth watched as the flame sparkled and crackled before her. Ruth cupped her hands as she leaned in a little closer into the fire. Was she truly watching the fire who could say being able to witess past present and future details all at once no one could ever tell if this young woman was in the present past or future. Hell a handful of people barely even understood what she meant when she spoke. Turning away from the fire Ruth could feel the thoughts of another slowly making their way closer to her. Without even meaning to Ruth heard the boys thoughts about her. HE like so many before him was tracking her in hopes of learning some brand of the future. He even had a plan B if Ruth would tell him nothing then he’d simply synchronized his aura with her own. Thus using her powers to witness the future events. Oh it was a clever plan by far, but it lacked simple logic behind it. He like most thought that Ruth saw the future when ever she willed it. It was in fact quite the opposite. The visions would come unpredictably to her at any time day or night. She didn’t control when she simply could see it. Without even turning her head Ruth spoke. “Yes says the blind. Come oh no come a seat for one a seat for all.” |

Synch stopped at the door to the lounge and just coughed softly to announce his attention to his intended quarry. Synch had heard people about Blindfold or Ruth that possibly she could actually see or that her powers were so acute that she could exist in real time as well as back and forward in time. Still Everett was not one to listen to rumour and hearsay unless it was about himself then he definitely paid attention. Everett stepped into the room and stopped for a moment feeling kind of awkward about his entire approach and reason for being there. Now he was finally here Synch didn’t think he could ask Ruth to use her powers to give him reassurances. His shaken confidence was his own thing to fix and some words from her probably wouldn’t make any difference but still only knowing that someone was here who could have answers was a comfort. “Hi. How are you?” Synch asked a little hesitant. ~Oh that’s just great you idiot. A great opening to make friends with a new student. ~ Synch mentally scolded himself before sitting down on the chair to the side of Ruth. “MY name’s Everett But I guess you already know that right.” He gave a nervous chuckle to hide the strange sound to his voice. Synch didn’t know why he was so unsettled by this student. Given she was blind and could see the future which was an contradiction in its self but more so he feared what she may know about him and what she may have seen. Personally Synch had not done anything evil or ultimately soul destroying. Only the typical teenage angst that all teenagers were required to do...it was in the job description. ~Please don’t let her know about Jenny McCalister in the third grade PLEASE!~ Synch thought cringing. |

Ruth sat diligently in her chair her hands pressed tightly against one another as her face was fixed intently on the fire before her. She heard the man enter the room she wasn’t surprised he was there she knew he was coming a few corridors down. When one is a telepath like Ruth or Jean Grey surprise become rare as one could just feel the presence of others around them. It was a natural power that honestly couldn’t really be controlled. TO have awareness of ones surrounding was only a natural thing after all. Quieting her thoughts Ruth Aldine listened in on what the man had to say to her. Ruth had to admit he wasn’t like the rest who cut straight to the point and out right asked her about the future. No either he was a timid, scared young man or he liked making small talk. Witnessing his gittery motions in her minds eye Blindfold came to the conclusion he must have been shy. Still though at least he had manners enough to strike up some conversartion before plummeting right into it. Ruth didn’t personally know Synch to well he was never a main character in her visions. What she did know from him she gathered unwillingly mind you from her clairvoyant power that gave her the power to know the here and now. Gently Ruth arose from her chair her shawl wrapped tightly around her bare shoulders as her long skirt dandled to the carpet. “Thank you yes I am Fine.” She replied in a hush tone barely above a breath whisper as she began to stryde ever closer towards the young man. So graceful was the woman’s movements on land that she resembled a ghost slowly hovering towards him. Ruth’s dark ebon hair dangled to her side twisting and turning with each step the young woman took. Once she stood right before the young man Ruth simply stoped dead in her tracks standing as still as a statute once more. Her eyes gazing not at Synch, but at the ground where he stood. “Hello Everett no I pardon did not know. Yes she is pleased to meet you!” She spoke once more her tone a bit stronger than the last time she spoke to him as she slowly raised her head to meet his gaze. Granted she had her blindfold on, but still her eyeless eyes met his own as she stood before him. He did not seem like a greedy person like some of the others infact he just seemed a little scared, and who wouldn’t be. Most people especially mutants were scared of things they didn’t know. “Do not worry thank you but no I do not know of Jenny McCalister.” |

Like a Tom and Jerry cartoon his jar dropped open at Ruth’s austere manner and third person comments. More so was he mortified that Ruth might actually know about his little escapade with an Ms McAlister and jus being polite and not mentioning it. If this was true then he really should just relax and consider it a blessing that she was tactful about such a sensitive area of discussion. “I guess you are settling in ok. Things can be little daunting and overwhelming at first. Being knew me I can understand but it’s different for everyone I suppose.” Now he was just waffling about nothing trying to fill the space with noise and avoid those uncomfortable silences. He fell silent again and just looked around fidgeting. “Would you care to take a seat or stretch your legs with a walk maybe?” For some reason he could not ask the one thing he had come here to ask. Was it nerves from her creepy facade or her myriad of conversational oddities? Possibly he was having second thoughts about approaching Ruth because he may not like the information she could give him. Sure he wanted to know what the future may hold for him but knowing would mean that he was in for a future that he could rise to meet or try and deny. He really shouldn’t have come here to bother her with such a thing. ~My insecurities would not be laid to rest by the ramblings of some false prophet. ~ Synch thought in some foolish attempt to justify his urge to leave. Synch fell silent and fidgetted in his seat trying to think of something to say. "I should go. I am sorry to have bothered you." |

Being new? Ruth mentally voiced to herself as Synch continued to what Ruth could only imagine was ranting out of nervousness. Still though did he actualyl think she was new among the school? He really didn't know her to well did he? She mentally asked herself once more, btu she knew the qustion well already. Of course he didn't know her. No one knew her and that was exactly how she liked it. Being mysterious was one of her odd trade marks. Along with not being able to form a coherent sentence, and walking around wearing old clothing. It was what made her her. With a gentle expression on her face Ruth went back to listening to what the man was talking about. Paying no more notice to the fact he thought she was new. Even though she had been among the school for a good 7 months already or so. Hey even a precog could loose sense of time couldn't they. Oh boy she thoguht to herself he was definately nervous you could tell in the way he acted. Cosntantly figiting around not staying still or in one place for to long. It was actually kinda cute and entertaining in an odd way. Ruth nodded her head as she heard him ask if she wanted to sit or walk. Well it was nice being asked to do thing so few at the school ever askd her for anything. The teachers would demand from her while the students well they never spoke to her. Unless they needed soemthing from her Nodding her head once again to let Synch know she heard him well Ruth slightly opened her lips to talk. "A walk would be lovely thank you." She said in a cool almost sweet voice as a sudden warmth over came her now. Social interaction something she had been xcraving for so long that now that she had it Ruth honestly didn't know what to do. She was glad someone had said something though. The silence was a horrible thing especially among two people. It could eat at ones inner mind forcing rhem to do stupid things just to end it. Suddenly what ever warm feeling the young mutant precog had fadded from her corporeal form as did her smile as she heard the thoughts of the man infront of her. A false prophet....creepy demeanor...Although she had heard all these thigns and worst Ruth couldn't help but feel a stab of pain deep in her heart. It never stopped hurting when she found otu yet another person did not like her. Wrapping her arms around herself Ruth heard him speak once more. "Yes please it's best if you leave thank you!" With that said the young mutant precog left the room she had been hidding from to try to get as much distance between her and the power mimicre as possible. And for the first time in years Ruth wish she could cry show some outward affection of the pain that was slowly setting inside her heart. Was this to be her future forever hated and only seeked out when soemone needed some reasurence of the future. Her head held low Ruth quickly climbed the mnay stairs that would lead her to her room. |

Suddenly Synch felt like such a heel. Somehow he’d offended or upset her and Synch honestly didn’t know how it had happened but then the shoe dropped. Some of the rumours about Ruth spoke of other psychic phenomenon like telepathy. If it was true then she must had heard his mental rant about her and taken offense to that. Synch began to mentally degrade and kick himself but then stopped remembering there was a telepath in close proximity. Synch stood up and just shook his head at how this day was turning out. Being plagued by visions and dreams of huge robots trying to stomp on him then the altercation in the meeting where Cyclops had virtually told them all that he was going to build an army to fight the human authorities and now this. Still nearly dying at the hands of Pietro seemed to pale in comparison to how bad he felt now. Yes his wounds had healed rapidly due to his having copied Quicksilver’s power but now he didn’t have any tricks to get out of this so he needed to bite the bullet. Synch stepped out into the corridor and took two steps at a time to catch up with Ruth. With a deep breath he prepared himself for a humiliating and grovelling apology. “Ruth. I’m sorry if I said or thought anything bad or offensive towards you. This would be the second time my lack of restraint has got me into trouble. At least you didn’t try to kill me butt.” Still Synch tried to inject some mirth into his pathetic attempt to apologize. It wasn’t with in him not to approach things with a certain amount of levity. Doing what he had done for a living. The constant danger and threat of death one needed to be able to deal with it in some healthy way or he would never have achieved everything that he had set out to do...be a world champion. Now he was in a strange world of super powered people with humans trying to hunt and kill him all because he has a power that couldn’t hurt a fly. Honestly Synch was becoming tired of people taking his words the wrong way. Synch was feeling incredibly alone and pretty much unappreciated at the moment given what he’d been through in the last 24 hours but no one was going to push him around now that he retained Quicksilver’s speed. It was a start, a foundation to build on but Synch was determined to protect himself from people here. He’d had enough. “Ruth please. I didn’t mean to upset you but I’m still getting used to all the weirdness of this place. I’m pretty well useless around here as was amply demonstrated by Pietro’s pummelling me into soap.” Thinking about it still caused his heckles to rise but right now he was busy with other things. “Just please no rummaging around upstairs ok?” |

How rude how barbaric how...painful it was for Ruth as her graceful legs continued their rampage getting her further and further away from Everett with each passing second. She no longer wanted to be near him nor hear his sweet harmonious voice within her mind. She couldn't have believed that he like all the rest was just using her. No infact it wasn't that he was worse because at least the others were straight fowaard in what they wanted. They didn't make small talk nor tried to befriend her as he did. They just said or rather asked her what they wanted to know usually having something to do with the future, and then with a parting thank you left her. Everett how ever was not as kind as they. Like a snake in the ground he came unbidden to her offering young Ruth Aldine the apple of friendship with his sweet words and whimsical gestures. Like Eve before her Ruth quickly bit deep into the apple saboring its sweet juices of friendship. Enjoying the covnersation and company. She never expected though obvious as it might have seemed that Everett had no intention of trying to be her friend. That he like the rest just wanted to know about the impending future, and see if he was going to be fine. If he had wanted that Ruth was all but glad to give our information if people deserved it but to toy with her like that it was just barbaric. And yet was that truly tthe reason Ruth wanted to get away from him so bad. Did she really loathe him for tricking her in to friendship or was it the fact that she fell that angered her more. That she had finally allowed herself to unhinge to let her guard down around another person only to have it thrashed to pieces. Perhaps it was all of these reasons or maybe it was none even Blindfold a precog she may be did not know all the answers to everything. Sighing to herself Ruth reached the head of th stairs as she lifted her skirt up ever so gently as to not trip as she continued to go down. However before she could make any more movement Blindfold could hear a voice calling out to her. Trying to detain her decent away from the man who had wronged her. It seemed Everett was feeling ashamed over what he had done, and wanted to find forgiveness from Ruth. He was a nice guy she knew this without a doubt, but realizing now it wasn't him who she was mad at it was herself. Watching him come closer Blindfold quickly tried to quell her raging mind as she heard his voice. "I do not enter a mind excuse me no Everett the minds enter me. I try not to listen oh she does she does but screams are so loud like bill boards in my mind can't miss them. I have no blame you do. Oh dear it hruts yes i know it does quiet please I'll help!" Her words like always were jumbled and confusing, but if you listened well enough erased the right type of words that honestly didn't belong in the sentence it wasn't all that hard to understand what the young precog was saying. Granted she was having multiple conversations in the here and and the here yet to come. Withdrawing her own hand from her shawl Ruth tenderly grasped the hand of Sunch and lead him slowly into a more secluded room as she withdrew a spear blindfolc from her own tunic pocket and wrapped it tightly around Synch's arm. Ruth wasn't sure if the boy had noticed, but his cut his wound from earlier was opening or was it that i was going to open in the immediate future. Ruth could never tell it was so hard to keep her thoughts straight and the visions clear. She knew that Everett's arm was going to bleed a minor cut from this mornings little mishap sure but when that was the harder part although she reasoned it was fairly soon. Hey better safe than sorry. "Their I say Blood no more or will be no more !" |

Synch remained silent as she began to talk incoherently once again. He understood the just of what she was saying but still it took some thought and interpretation to get the full meaning of her words. He remained quiet and very still as Ruth tied a strip of fabric around his arm and spoke of blood. Obviously Everett was very confused and little worried as well. ~Is she having some kind of vision about me? ~ Synch wondered as he reached up and ran his fingers over the blindfold now tired to his arm. The position was eerily close if not directly upon the same place where he had suffered an injury earlier that morning. “Ruth are you ok?” He asked quietly placed a hand on her shoulder to try and get her attention. Ruth hadn’t changed much at all. No convulsions or dramatic effect like all those TV psychics displayed so Synch was unsure what was exactly going on but he knew something wasn’t exactly right with her. Synch was getting exactly what he wanted from Ruth but now he was being given info on his future he felt even worse like he was abusing her for her powers and nothing more. “Pietro was right. I’m doing exactly what the humans want to do to us.” Synch muttered as his gaze drifted to his feet. “I need some air. Would you like to join me?” Synch again was trying to befriend Ruth and this time he was keeping his head clear of anything that could be seen as offensive. |

Ruth felt the heavy burden on her shoulder that was Everett Thomas' hand clentching her shoulder tightly. The feeling of another person's physical entity on her own was lovely feeling. Were she a normal girl she might have blushed or showed some outward sign of happiness over the company. Alas she was not that kind of girl and thus showed no sign at all about the inner tormoil she was feeling while at the same time feeling an oddly warm feeling inside she was not acustomed to feeling. Tilting her head up Ruth did her bewst to screen out the young man's thoughts from her mind as he began to talk to her. She didn't have to be a mind reader to know he was worried how ever. It was as clear as the moon in the night sky Everett was completely worried about something stress mixed with fear lined his face. Tucking a few of her dark strands behind her small hear Ruth looked towards Everett as he began to speak. "I'm fine thank you" If Ruth believed in hell which is not saying she doesn't believe hell she would certainly be condenmed to live her after life their for the travesty of a lie she just uttered. The truth was Ruth was not fine she was never fine her mind was constantly plagued by random and most often chaotic visions of past present and future all colliding within her mind at once fighting for supremacy. It was madening to say the least. "A walk oh yes pardon it would be excuse me lovely." |

Synch managed to force a smile as he slowly took Ruth’s hand. He was still nervous because he was unsure if Ruth could really see around her in real time or if she was just taking her chances. She seemed to have fared well enough on her own so perhaps she wasn’t in need of his help in navigating the halls and corridors of the mansion. “Where would you like to go?” He asked with little more confidence. Blue eyes followed her every move since they were stood at the top of a very large stair case. Still Synch was not in a very good mood but he taking out on other people was not a nice thing to do since he’d been the attention of several people’s negative comments and actions. Now Synch just wanted to be careful with Ruth given his knew found powers and inability to completely control them. Since they were now a part of him Synch would need time to train and practice with them until they were like second nature to him. The only added bonus was that they needed to be active for them to cause a problem for him. It was the only thing that had kept him from leaving holes in everything around him or hurting people. |

Though ruth may have been born on to this planet with no eyes she was more than capable to see the world around her. She knew every step she took where it would lead her. She could see other objects and people around her that made up the near vacinity most of all she could see everything all at once. Which was why the young woman would often say she saw far more clearly the world than any one else. Though many people took what she said the wrong way and some even felt insulted by her words. Ruth walked so hypnotically each of her movements as mesmorizing if not more so than the last. As her long silky ebon night colored hair danced and twirled around her delicately white porcelin face. With each step the young mutant took it brought her that much closer to her final destination. Releasing Everett's hand ever so softly Ruth gingerly opned the hatchet that locked the window. Slowly pushing the windo'w shutters open allowing a gust of night air into the hall way. Quickly Ruth climbed outside thwindow heading higher and higher until she reached the roof. Everett wan'ted to be alone no better place than the roof. She had often came up here to pass away the time watchign those around her partake in the joys of life. She never minded if of course she loved being alone and embraced solitude with open arms. It was her nature to be alone adn she had grown very acustimed to it. But others like Everett found themselves alone and to be honest were not mean tfor it. Ruth finally reached the top of the mansion as she stretched her arms a bit before seating herself down on the roof wrapping her shawl tighter around her bare shoulerss for more warmth and protection against the raw elements. This was a nice place she thought to herself as she mentally serveyed the land around her. |

Synch followed Ruth in silence and was still in awe that she could navigate the world with her blindness. It was a curiosity that he hoped one day he could satisfy but for the time being he was happy to speculate on the possibilities. For now he was trying not to watch the way her body moved so gracefully and tried even harder to keep pure and clean thoughts in his head. ~Being around a telepath can really blow sometimes. ~ He thought to himself but swiftly clamped down on his thought processes and began mentally kicking himself since he was watching Ruth’s butt at the time. Vigilance was needed in the presence of Ruth and any other telepath, empathy or any other path around the place. It was a strange feeling to be wary of ones on thoughts. Having to be constantly on alert to what he thought was beginning to be very annoying. Still he’d be here for a while and he wasn’t going to be acting all arrogant and insane so if curbing his thoughts helped him make a few friends then its something he would have to do. When he reached the roof, Synch stopped and just whistled at the view of the grounds. It was awe inspiring. He could even see the distance lights of the city from being up so high. It was truly something to behold but still unlike seeing the world from 10000 feet in the air. Now the silence was beginning to stretch out between them and Everett was feeling like an intruder within her space. Ruth obviously enjoyed the quiet silence and isolation of this place and Everett could appreciate alone time but this was beginning to feel little awkward. “So...uhm... sorry about before. If you picked up anything inappropriate I’m real sorry.” Again he was apologising for something he may or may not have done. |
