Anna looked over the field, trying to make an assessment of the situation. It didn't look all that bad, with all the soldiers pinned down under the psychic lock of the Phoenix. And the two glowing members of the X-men were busy debating.

"All kids, follow me!" Anna shouted, running towards the plane, with the two kids in tow. Several others peeled themselves out of the woodwork, slowly following the maternal figure, some of the older, and stronger ones carried the young and lame. others used their powers as best they could to help the others up.

A faint cry off to her right. Anna quickly dodge over, waving the children onwards towards the jet. She skidded down a hill, which she quickly found out to be a crater.

"help...help..."

Anna skidded down, hitting the wreckage of burning wood and crumbling mortar. "I'm from the X-men! I'll get you out of there!!" She hollered, not knowing if shouting affiliation with the X-men was such a good thing right now.

"NO!" a raspy voice yelled, "Stay away you mutant freak!"

Anna rounded the corner, seeing a gut wrenching sight. A SHIELD soldier was pinned underneath the wreckage of the the house, far flung from the giant monstrosities that ripped opened the sanctuary. He was pinned from the waist down, and was now straining to reach his weapon, just beyond his fingertips.

Anna walked up and kicked it out of the way. "You won't be needing that..." She said, still trying to figure out the emotions swimming up in her stomach. The Chaos Queen couldn't think straight as two conflicting emotions fought in her mind: the basic need to help a fallen man, and the rage of what that man did...

She ducked down, just out of reach of the man, but looking down the length of his body. His femur had cut though his leg at an odd angle, and blood was pooling over the huge two by six and the rest of the roof crushing down on him. From his knee down disappered into the me4ss of beams. They were , like his leg, scattered and ripped up all over the place. some poked though the section of the roof, not unlike his leg just now.

"You look pale..." She said, holding up a hand to his face. he flinched, like he was going to attack. "HOLD on...I'm not going to hurt you. I'm trying to help..."

"You just stay away from me, you freak." He spat out, along with a hunk of blood.

"I'm trying to save your sorry ass..." Anna swore, which she doesn't do alot, but when she does...she means it. "You're bleeding internally and your losing blood from that leg wound." She said matter-of-factly "If we don't get you out of here soon, you'll either bleed to death or have one heck of an infection there...' She said, already staring to pick the rubble off the man. She tried to shove the beam aside, but the rest of the house was resting on it. There was only one way she could possibly get this mess off him...

Organize it...

Entropy took a step back and closed her eyes. She didn't want to do anything about that leg injury, she could do more harm then good. "Just organize it, Anna..do what you do best." She said to herself.

"Hold on, I'm going to try something..." She said to the cursing soldier. Entropy felt out to the beams, calling forth her singing shards of light, begging to hear their comforting song envelope her soul. THey responded to her plead, and quickly swam around the mess of wood. Within a minute, the heavy wooden beams were stacked to the side, from longest to the shortest splinters on top.

Anna sighed heavily, as if she had been holding the load in her mind. She stumbled over to soldier now laying on the ground be himself. She crash on the ground next tom him. "Ok...Sir...Now I get you to a medic..." She said, as she tied a loose splint from a dead branch and a piece of fabric, most likely a child's blanket. Slowly Anna heaved the man up onto his good leg, and they hobbled their way back to the Blackbird.

"Why are you doing this?" He asked on the way, heaving between words.

"For the opposite reason you were attracting that Base..." She grimaced, her small frame supporting the huge man's weight. "I actually believe in that even if you are trying to kill us, you still deserve to live..."

She finally hobbled to within a hundred and fifty two yards of the Blackbird. Anna dropped him down and set him next to a rock. She assured him that she'll be back and, after catching her breath ran off to the jet. The Red Hair Goddess burst up the ramp and into to cabin, where a few people were strapping in.

"Where's a med kit?" She demand, gray blue eyes aflame with purpose. "I have man here that needs a good strong dose of Antiboitics NOW!" She said, looking from blank face to blank face. "I really don't give a damn if he's a SHIELD member...If we leave him to die..how does that make us better then the rest of them..." Anna said with the full fury of her Lewis bloodline.

Mina

Mina had been through her share of hard times in her life, from the first violent manifestation of her powers, to her parent’s unexpected deaths in a car crash, to losing her husband so early in their lives together. She knew suffering, knew hurt, knew hurt, but none of that was quite like feeling the betrayal of one’s closest friends. Jean and Scott were like family; they’d grown-up together during one of the most difficult times of their lives. At the moment though, it didn’t seem like any of that mattered to them.

Every word they spoke stung, her stomach twisting into knots and they dug the blade deeper. They were playing on her deepest fears. She had always worried that she wasn’t doing what was right for the children, that she wasn’t living up to the Professor’s dream, but she had mentioned it to very few, as was her way. Scott and Jean had been two of those that she had confessed her reservations to, and now they were using them against her, throwing them back in her face, telling them she had failed.

And maybe she had. Maybe she wasn’t keeping the children as safe as they should be, maybe she wasn’t living up to the Professor’s expectations, but she knew, knew without a doubt, that what Scott and Jean were doing was not right. They might not be able to see it through their power or passion or whatever it was that was blinding them to the truth, but Mina could. Perhaps she hadn’t been training the children as well as she should have, but Jean and Scott were going to bring the war to their doorstep, and nothing could prepare them for that. The Institute was a place for learning and safety, not a base to raise an army. The children deserved better than a life filled with bloodshed.

She stepped off the Sentinel, onto the ravaged field of battle, and her powers sparked, raw energy churning in an inferno of almost ghostly white flame and light at her fingertips. “You have no right.” Her gaze flicked briefly to Logan, Hank, and Orbital, but then settled back on Cyclops and Phoenix – she had stopped thinking of them as Jean and Scott – as she began to stride towards them. “Xavier’s is home to us all and its fate is not something to be decided by only two, no matter how right they believe they are.”

Whatever her next words or actions were going to be, they were lost as the two turned and Cyclop’s powers slammed into the ground at her feet. In an explosion of dirt, rock, and bits of debris, she fell, practically swallowed up by the earth below.

[ JP: Stretch + Orbital ]

Colin's mind was just about steaming, as he made his way in a slow, angry trudge up to the Blackbird -- and would halt just at the ramp, large hand bracing against one of the sides, eyes directed to the stairs.

How could Roy not be angry at this? Didn't he understand? Maybe their measures were a bit ... drastic, but Cyclops and Jean's -- ShadowX's -- comments were right to a frightening degree.

He was pissed. And, right now ... he couldn't care if all humans burned right in front of him.

No one did this to innocent kids and didn't leave without a scar.

So it was incredibly bad timing on Anna's part ... that she'd bring that S.H.I.E.L.D. soldier up along the ramp, to the Blackbird, right under Colin's nose ... well, so to speak.

"I really don't give a damn if he's a SHIELD member...If we leave him to die..how does that make us better then the rest of them..." Anna said with the full fury of her Lewis bloodline.

Stretch looked over his shoulder at Anna, a sort of incredulous and partly disgusted look on his face, before a passing glare dropped to the injured human -- and he gave a sneer.

"You're fuckin' serious, ain't ya?" He mouthed out, a slight snicker of disbelief carrying on his tone -- though completely without humor, and his unusually terse expression showed that. Turning around, he looked right to Anna ... and got right in her face, glancing back to the soldier to prove his point.

"Dis asshole-fa'-hire comes down here wit' d'intent ta make some helpless mutant kids homeless 'r dead, 'n you want US to help him?" A short shake of his head. "Nuh-uh, sweetcheeks, dat right dere sends d'wrong message. It sends d'message dat we take it up d'flushpipe from human crap-bags like dis douchewad holdin' his spleen in my freakin' sight."

His glare was fierce, and mostly unforgiving -- but after standing there a second, in Anna's presence ... he let out a soft sigh.

He walked into the Blackbird a step, before grabbing one of the emergency med-kits supplied along the back storage lockers -- and, opening the bag and sorting through the kit, pulled out two syringes -- which he read briefly, before handing it to Anna.

"Here, babe," he said to her, showing a bit more forgiveness in his voice. "Shoot 'im up wit' some Cortisone 'n Penicillin, den dump his ass back out dere."

He glared back down at the soldier, giving his intimidatingly-muscled arms a bit of a flex.

"Two minutes, 'n if he's not out by den ... I break his back, 'n den he's got a whole new group a' fuckin' problems t'deal wit', huh, SuperMarine?"

He crossed his arms, glaring between the two.

If she thought he was kidding ... well, she'd have to find that one out.

And Anna likely wouldn't like the result.

-----

In the field of battle, Roy was never the sort that took anything too lightly -- and that was the case here, more than ever. The young mutant stayed in the close unit, around his fellow X-Men that sided against this ... newest incarnation, of Cyclops and Phoenix combined.

His powers had him stay levitated, about a foot above the ground, those kohl eyes with an intense sort of look on the united pair.

No good could come of this, indeed.

Whatever her next words or actions were going to be, they were lost as the two turned and Cyclop’s powers slammed into the ground at her feet. In an explosion of dirt, rock, and bits of debris, she fell, practically swallowed up by the earth below.

The intense concussive blast took Roy by some shock, his eyes widening slightly -- but he wasn't one to be held to inaction.

A glare was passed, to the antagonistic couple ... before his dark eyes focused on the falling Mina, as the ground crumbled away into the chasm below her.

It must've been a surreal sensation ... because, as she fell, everything would halt -- including her. She would lift from the ground, levitating in air as if she weighed nothing -- and the dispersed debris and earth from the ruptured ground would sort back into place, filling the hole as if time had been turned backwards on it.

An irritated expression rose on Orbital's features, form levitating a bit higher -- and Mina's was brought up with his, tactfully moving in front of the headmistress, before extending his arms and projecting a gravitational flux shield around the unit.

"Call me 'Little Boy' all you want, Old Man Summers ... but we both know who's acting immature here," he touted right back, before a brief gravitational 'pulse' seemed to travel through the surrounding air, with Orbital at its source ... and a brief tic of his brow.

What was all this stress doing to his abilities?

The exhaustion of the extended transformation was only draining the ability to be coherent to the events that were actually going on between the faculty. All Sam could think about was sleep and the safety of the children, and blocked out all other aspects of danger and morals. Her body was extremely loose like a wet noodle making each step that much harder to obtain a solid ground without falling or passing out. But inspiration from the cries of younger children in need gave the feline the strength she needed to finally make it back to the Blackbird. A final glance over to those she started to call friends only gave her more unanswered questions, more doubt about anything anymore.

The shape shifter did know that the safety of the innocent should be protected at all costs. The oppression and cruelty the young artist suffered in her own childhood only solidified that possibly now she could at least attempt to defend the innocent if properly trained. Going back to the mansion was the only way to solidify that and make it happen. Standing around jabbering about who's right it is or whose fault it is fell on deaf and tired ears.

Sam found a young girl sitting there by the wheel wrapping her arms around her legs and rocking. The eerie sight gave the artist the strength to walk over to her and reach out her hand. "It's time to go home" she said quietly just wanting to get on the bird and sleep. But the young girl was so scared and looked up dirt riddled across the cheeks. Some blood stains upon her tattered dress and streaks of smear from the tears she shed tore at the feline's heart. Never again. Small fingers laced into Sam's as the young one stood and limped to climb aboard.

Where the shape shifter found the strength, she didn't know. Her heart was already beating too fast and her head was a bit woozy. But, with one last effort and the sorrow of this small child, Sam managed to scoop up the young child and carry her the rest of the way. Little arms wrapped around the artist's neck as she looked on to the standoff by fallen tin cans. Sam, however, never looked back.

A line was drawn in the sand. One careful step and you could cross over it. To which side would be determined by the individual. It was a complete surprise that a few of the people she had respected choose not to move. They stood as though their voices were gone. The debates were over. Action now and always was the answer. A simple choice would rule the day. For Jayson there wasn't the choice of stepping over the line. She was already there. The red head had started her trek back to the jet before Cyclops drew the line with his powers.

The choice wasn't a hard one to make. Everything her boss and his wife said made sense. Even if it didn't she would still have followed her leader unless bloodshed was a foreseeable future. Her friend was no longer their to pull her back. Violey was out of the picture. What about Faye, though? This was his family. She was inadvertently turning away from the carnage of the place he once called home. Did this mean she was turning her back on him as well? No, his family was now safe. The monsters were no longer a threat. Both metal and men were now or the ground motionless.

On her way towards the jet Rock-solid didn't stop to help any who needed assistance. There were none except for a soldier or two. Those who stood on the opposite side of the line would see to them. The children, for the most part, had already been gather by the majority of those already on the jet. In the back of her mind the stone-turner was determined to be one of the last on board. However, two young boys stepped from the shadows and begun to follow the lone X-man.

They must have determined her safe to follow or they were just curious of who she was. Not once did this stranger take notice of them so they followed silently. One of the boys (the older one) tripped forward. To his surprise the ground never met his face. "Careful you," stated the red head. With little effort she picked him up and placed him upon her shoulders. "Don't touch my skin," she warned him. The boy obeyed fearfully wondering why he could not touch her. Without warning Rock-solid picked up the younger boy and cradled her in her arms. They were like her step-cousins. All of them human except maybe for two.

Moments passed as the last steps to the jet were taken. The ramp was ascended and seats toward the back had been found. It was then she let the boys down. They were small enough to share a seat but the younger one insisted to sit on her lap. Jayson allowed it whether it was wise or not. These children shouldn't have seen their home be turned to ashes. But they had. Nothing could be changed. Everything of the past was set in stone. "Are you ready for a jet ride?" she said to them giving a bright and out of place smile. "It'll be fun."

It all went in, every single word. He felt every single turn of the blade as things were brought up that he’d been sure were going to be left in the past. He’d visited Scott, apologized to him for something the man had assured him was not his fault at the time. Why was he now throwing it back in his face? Why was any of this happening? What the hell was going on? If no one other than Mina and himself had spoken up against what they were doing, the Canadian born feral may have thought himself to be going insane, to be the one under some kind of influence rather than two of his closest friends. This wasn’t the case, Hank saw it too… and Roy, one of those closest to Scott, he could see it. Why couldn’t they? Why couldn’t Lorna realize she was using her powers against one of her teammates;; against one of the people who didn’t take too kindly to being held at bay by his adamantium.

It hurt like hell, having someone control him from the inside like that!

None of that mattered when he picked up on the scent of doubt within the woman he loved, eyes not wavering when she looked at him, her words heard clearly as she addressed the two they had thought would be their friends forever… and then, he attacked her! Scott Grey-Summers, one of the men the Wolverine would always look up to, attacked one of his longest lasting friends! The anger built to an astounding level, yet, all he cared about was helping Mina, and if that earned him another black mark, once again looked down upon because he didn’t react the way they believed he should have, then… so be it!

He leapt off the sentinel, straight towards where Mina had disappeared. He didn’t yell out her name, he didn’t yell out anything, just ran… until he saw her being lifted into the air, turned his gaze, and realized Roy had already utilized his powers, much to the Wolverine’s relief. With a look of deep-set gratitude, now, and forever more into the future, Logan reached Mina’s side, nodding in agreement to Orbital’s words, as he too addressed the retreating couple, “Yer choice is made, an so is ours, we're stayin here knowin that it’s your asses that are gonna need savin, Bub.”

Taylor leaned against a tree a distance away with his eyes closed. Every movement ignited fires in his arm and leg, adding to the aching in his head and generalized pain throughout his body. He wanted so badly to sleep, but even though the immediate threat was gone, Taylor didn't truly feel comfortable sleeping in this area. Not after this attack had woken him up. He didn't bother look at the wreckage. This place no longer held any meaning for him. The only purpose that gave the Eldraiti's mansion meaning was that they and the children lived there, apart from the chaos of the rest of mankind.

Why was it that the humans couldn't just leave them alone? They'd done nothing wrong. All they wanted was to live. To live peacefully and happily. Why was it that mankind felt that that couldn't be left alone? Why was it so imperative that EVERYONE be involved in some sort of conflict?

Nobody answered him, of course. There was no answer. There was no reason. People were simply violent creatures. They could only see what they wanted to see.

There were voices in his head, but his fatigue diluted the words into something remnicint of Charlie Brown's teacher. Incoherent words. He could see people fighting -weren't they all Xmen? Why were they fighting each other?- but he couldn't bring himself to care that much. The only thing he understood from all their words was that they were taking all the children. Presumably, that would mean that the Eldraiti were going too. So was he.

Heaving himself off the tree, Taylor walked toward the jet, a limp evident in his walk despite his best efforts. He still felt the fires, but ignored them for the moment as he made his way up the ramp, into a seat nearby a group of children, and relaxed against the headrest. Within moments, the cyberpath had fallen asleep.

So much had changed in such a short time. Callan could barely process her thoughts as she continued to take in her surroundings. All that she could do now was wait to see who would be heading back to Xaviers and who would be left behind. Who was with them, and who was against them. When Callan came to the entrance of the Blackbird, she stopped and looked back to see Mina attacked.

It was strange, but Callan felt no fear, no doubt, no will to stop the division. The burning desire to make things right for mutants was all that she wanted to focus on in this moment. The school would be better off in the capable hands of Scott and Jean, people who understood what they were all up against. Times were changing. They all had to adapt or they would surely be run over by the stampede of the coming events that would bring a better future.

Looking on with an apathetic glare, Callan crossed her arms and waited a moment. The sight was sickening. How could these powerful people that she respected resist the truth? Once she had had enough of watching the pathetic people that were foolish enough to protest against Scott and Jean's words, Callan turned and boarded the jet. She sat silently as she waited to see who would be joining her.

They turned away even as Mina fell, not interested anymore. Why she fell? Who knew. They hadn't aimed Cyclops's beams to where they would hit her, where they would cause her any harm. She wasn't evil, she was merely misguided. So far, she hadn't harmed any of the children, hadn't damaged the Dream beyond her dissent. She would see the light, and they were her true friends. They had no desire to hurt those who were merely deluded, and while it caused them great pain to have to ban their old companions from the school, there were the children to think about.

So, Mina's falling into the hole, surprised them completely, and they decided as one that she must've jumped into it. A shame. How strange. More proof of her irrational behavior though. Proof that Mina was not who she should be.

After all, had they been aiming for her, truly and coldly bent on causing her death, there wouldn't have been enough of her left for Orbital to save. They were two of the most powerful mutants on the planet-- Phoenix with mastery of the mental, Cyclops's beams the very embodiment of unstoppable physical force. Mina wouldn't have the time to even think of a way to combat them before they took her out.

If they wanted to take her out, that was.

The call had been sent to the X-Men, those still loyal to the one true Dream, and they would be in the Blackbird now, with the refugees. "Leave her," the pair ordered Stretch, ushering him inside the jet. "Entropy has proven she is a security risk. She stays behind with her human loving compatriots."

Then, without a glance backwards, the pair closed the hatch of the Blackbird.

Moments, later there was nothing but the relative silence as the roar of the jet's engines faded into the distant sky. Soft moans came from the fallen SHIELD agents, crackles and pops came from the fires that still burned, and the five X-Men were left to decide their own fates.

They were no longer X-Men. They were no longer friends of the school. They were the enemy.

But they would be saved.

ShadowX, as they would be known, was going to save them. They were going to save everyone. It was their purpose, their right and their obsession.

It was hard to imagine anything was steady in this situation -- but Roy's eyes were dead-set on the flipped-out pair, watching as they silently pulled away from the standoff ... and to the Blackbird, before the advanced jet's engines roared to life, and the large craft slipped into the sky like a dark blade through the clouds.

And amidst the sounds of chaos around what remained of the orphanage and Eldraitii Base ... Orbital drew out a sigh, slowly lowering from his levitated stance to the ground, setting Mina down on her feet in tow.

" ... Some mission," Roy muttered out under his voice in his deep tone, before looking back to his teammates -- or what remained of them.

His expression? Understandably, hard to read. Scott was a mentor to Roy, and even if the young gravity manipulator didn't completely buy into Xavier's dream of harmony ... he wanted to.

He wanted to have the sort of dedication that Cyclops had, day in and day out.

And in the blink of an eye, everything Roy had known about the man and Jean Grey ... was an instant lie.

For the most part, Roy looked ... worn, as if mentally beset. The gauntlet had been laid out in front of them, and their group as a whole knew what they'd have to do.

They'd have to get into the fortress that was Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning.

"You're alright?" He simply asked Mina -- hanging on a response for a moment.

But once he'd get one, he'd shut his kohl eyes right after ... and rest his fingers against his chin, focus cast downwards, as if in thought. In reality ... it was a bit of momentary collection.

A lot had just happened.

His powers were reacting, too -- with their recent exponential growth from all his training and time with the X-Men, it was a lot of responsibility to account for ... and, with the powers being the ultimate extension of the self, they were starting to feel just as out of control as Roy was in all this mess.

Exhale. And, quietly, with his eyes shut ... Roy walked a few steps away from the group, in an effort to gain a bit of self-calm in this madness.

In this ... hell.

It really was.

Even as he tried to calm himself, his powers just wouldn't stay still. As he stepped away, small bits of material like pebbles, debris, twigs, and shrapnel lifted from the burning, ravaged ground -- to an exact height of about four feet in the air, and stopping in a freeze ... before drawing towards Roy's frame, and gravitating about him at a multitude of intervals.

Two sides of the mind.

The first, a rational man wanting to keep everything under control ... hearing the need, to be the rock in this situation.

The second, the instinct awash with the intoxication of this newfound, growing power ... and the dark desire to see how far it'd go without the control.

All that was for some other time. Right now ... he had made his stance.

And he had to stick by the unit of those like him, in righting all this bedlam.
