April 10

The morning was already half over as the blindfolded young woman few knew in the school as Ruth Aldine seer supreme made her way outside the large mansion that had served as her home for the last seven months. Reaching the large phoenix like memorial just outside the front entrance doors Ruth sat patiently on the cement base of it. As the fierce yet enticingly gentle wind blew across her delicate creame colored skin embracing it in a way she had never felt before. Ruth rarely ever had reason to be outside among the other children of the mansion to be honest she rarely left her room let alone the mansion itself so this was indeed a rare occasion.

However today was a special day for Ruth far more special then the other ones that was for sure. Today was the day she would meet the fellow members that made up the current squad she was assigned to. The elite squad of students whose jobs were to keep the safety, and order among the student body. Ruth felt this job was to much of a power temptation for the kids one in particular she had seen where this road could lead them all, and wished with all her heart to change it. Perhaps that was why she had forced Scott Summers to allow her on to the team.

Ruth sat there quietly as her ebon locks fluttered in the wind tangling itself with the loose ribbon of her blindfold as she mentally viewed her surroudings. She knew the school was a large place to be, adn the chances of running in to any of her members were slim to nothing. Such odds would normally discourage any person, but Ruth was a mutant gifted with seeing events yet to happen. Sometimes they were prophetic visions in which she needed to quickly act to make sure they never happened, but most of the time they were random thigns that honestly were not important.

Like the vision the young eyeless mutant dreamt about last night. She saw herself wearing the clothes she was wearing right now. A form fitting baby T which stopped just above her belly button and tight jean pants with normal sneakers. This ofcourse was not her usual choice in clothing, but she knew if she wanted to make some frineds among her new team mates it wouldn't hurt to play down the weird card. She saw herself sitting right here by the giant Phoenix memorial, and she saw all of the team by chance or by choice meeting one another. And thus their first meeting would be born in which they all could get to know one another better.

She had been at the school only two days when she found out she was chosen to be a member of a new "elite squad" that was responsible for enforcing various school rules. It was a squad put into place in an attempt to increase the school's security. While Callan had no problem with things becoming more strict, she wasn't exactly thrilled to be a part of this squad. How could she possibly have any authority when she had only been back for a week? Most of the people in the school didn't know her at all, and some didn't have any respect for her. It was an honor to be trusted enough to have this position, but Callan wasn't sure she could effectively do the job.

The past few nights Callan had been having terrible, confusing dreams. She hadn't thought too far into them at first, simply blaming her insomnia and troubling thoughts on her recent return to the school, but it wasn't just one or two vague nightmares. It was becoming impossible to ignore the fear building within her. She hadn't slept more than an hour or two the previous night, and she was running purely on the three cups of coffee she drank a couple hours ago. She was no longer able to ignore these dreams that continued on into the day. Humanity was a danger to everyone. They couldn't be trusted, and Callan was willing to do whatever was necessary to protect mutantkind.

With this in mind, Callan was beginning to make plans to train more seriously. For the past four years she hadn't used her power much. She was definitely rusty, but even if she wasn't shooting massive lightning bolts out of her fingertips she could do a lot of damage. The smallest spark could ignite gas or flammable liquid. She could definitely fry a computer, and it didn't take a lot of voltage to stun a person. . . or worse. It would be a while before she regained proper control of her powers, but Callan wasn't in the mood to be patient.

In the later hours of the morning, Callan was free to do whatever she wanted. Right now all she wanted to do was sleep, but the probability of enjoying a nap that wasn't interrupted by nightmares wasn't in her favor. So, she decided that it was worth a try to step outside and see if some fresh air couldn't make her a bit more alert.

The first thing she saw when she stepped outside was a young woman she recognized as Ruth Aldine. They didn't know each other, but Callan had heard about her. It was hard not to recognize her as not many students wore blindfolds. Callan didn't know enough about Ruth to properly judge her character, but she did know that Ruth had the ability to read minds which, quite frankly, made her rather uncomfortable. Callan had a lot of things going on in her head that she didn't want to share. People invading her thoughts was something Callan did not want happening. . . ever.

Knowing that Ruth was also on the elite squad, Callan thought that it would be a wise move to get to know her a bit. Now seemed like a decent time to approach her, even though starting conversations with strangers wasn't exactly her area of expertise. She moved forward at a smooth pace, her stiletto boot heels clicking lightly when they hit the ground. After tucking a few stray strands of hair behind her ears, she folded her arms. It was a good thing that Ruth would not be able to see her because she looked rather unfriendly. She was dressed entirely in black, and her hair was pulled back to reveal a stern expression which was difficult to erase due to her lack of sleep. Managing a friendly smile wouldn't be an easy task.

When she came to Ruth's side, Callan wasn't exactly sure what to say. Still, she tried to sound at ease.

" Hi. I'm Callan Michaels. If I've got my facts straight, you're Ruth Aldine. I saw you from the door, and I thought it'd be smart to introduce myself to you. . . since we're both on this new elite squad thing."

Yeah, it was a bit of a rough introduction, but Callan was surprised that she was able to say so much. It was rather stupid for her to be so uneasy around a 17-year-old student. The people here were generally very kind and basically good. She really had nothing to fear other than the fact that she would have no way of knowing what Ruth would learn from her with her telephatic powers.

Recessive versus dominant. Autosomal versus heterosomal. Pink versus red versus white flowers.

If she had to make another God damn Punnett square, there would be murder. Maybe genetics struck the chords of the nerdily-inclined, but the subject failed to resonate with Riva. Miserably. Sure, she was the product of a genetic anomaly, some inversion of her genetic code or an extra amino acid and lipid bilayer that somehow gave her the ability to bench press a semi with a mere thought and flex of a pinky. But I beg your pardon, Mr. McCoy, if I don’t think your life’s calling to be fascinating.

It sure as hell wasn’t enough to get Riva bouncing around in front of a blackboard like a Muppet on crack and gushing about the wonders of the human genome. Or trouncing around a funky-smelling green house to look at a Mendellian reproduction.

Pea plants. Seriously. School had reached a whole new level of uselessness.

“Oh joy of joys. Now Ah can be a farmer,” she muttered to herself as she picked apart the oval leaf of a nearby plant she’s plucked from, disinterested in the flowering samples that the class was supposed to be observing in their lab. Unable to stand a moment longer of lecturing or plant-watching, Riva snatched up her bookbag and jacket and walked right out the hot house.

“Squad business!” she called over her shoulder, and if Hank had anything to say, Riva just pretended not to hear.

Walking across the school’s perfectly manicured lawn, it took Riva all of five seconds to light up a cigarette. Mmm, Camel. Yep, the cartoony advertisements did her in. Taking a long drag, she wandered across the green, heading back for the main building, air conditioning, and civilization. Free of class (at least for that block), she was left with little to occupy her mind. She found it hard to think these days, but Jean assured her it was the stress from current events, the hate crime enacted so close to her place of work. They’d have to be more vigilant, careful, united on the school’s front. It was normal… normal… The more should thought about it, the angrier she felt. What the hell were they going to do about this?

The new roster posted on Mr. Summers’s office door came to mind, and Riva thought it was about time she met with her new squad. She could do something, aid the cause like she’d promised Scott and Jean, through them. She wouldn’t make the same mistake Logan did, chasing around a ridiculous past, never around unless it was to hibernate in his little lakeside shack or dry-hump Miss Mina behind the tool shed. Their squad seldom trained, unless it was some ridiculous Dances with Wolves forest setting. Sure as hell couldn’t depend on their Security Advisor, her mentor… Not that she ever did.

Heaving a smoke-ridden sigh, Riva walked around the side of the Phoenix monument, trying to recall the names on the new roster. She knew Ruth was on there, mainly because she failed to see how a kooky blind girl could possibly help. As she thought that, a seated figure appeared in the corner of her eye, the redhead turning to look and immediately giving a startled jump.

“Jesus Christ, Ruth!” she gasped, somehow managing to keep her cigarette from flying in her exclamation. It wasn’t that Ruth scared her, but the fact that she’d thought of the girl and suddenly ran across her that made the whole thing a but unsettling.

“You tryin’ t’ scare people shitless by sittin’ there like a God damn gargoyle? What y’ doin’ out here?” she asked, but answered her own question as she noticed the other blonde... Sadly, she didn't know who that chick was. But she'd change that.

"Ahh.. Y' were expectin' us, weren't ya Ruth?" she mused, tossing her bookbag carelessly at the foot of the statue. Turning to Callan, she gave the woman a smirking sort of smile.

"Salut. Should Ah know you, hon?"

Vincent had been planning to read his new copy of National Geographic outdoors. It was rare that he had time to read anything that wasn’t for his classes, and now that he was in the Elite Squad he had even less time than usual.

Because his teacher had taught them everything that had been in the plan for the day Vincent had asked to be excused. He was usually content to sit and do his homework, but the beckoning fair weather beyond the walls made him want to enjoy the sunlight to its utmost.

Striding—Vincent rarely walked when he could help it—across the grass, he paused for only a moment when he saw some other members of the Elite Squad. They hadn’t yet had an official meeting…or any meeting at all for that matter. He looked down at the small magazine in his pocket resignedly before he sighed and made a bee-line for the group. Reading could wait, meetings could not.

He could make out Callan, as well as the other girl—Riva—and the sitting figure must have been Ruth from the blindfold across her eyes. Callan was nice, and Riva reminded him very much of his sister. He admired her ability to tell people her mind. Vincent himself tried to do that, to cut down on later arguments and to stop himself from becoming aggravated. Passive aggressive tendencies were something he found maddening, and he never wanted to be thought of as that either.

Nearing them Vincent stopped, hands tucked into his pockets. “Hello Callan, Ms. Aldine…you’re Riva? I’m Vincent Starkova.” Offering his hand to shake, as he had with Callan, he smiled. “It’s nice to meet you.”

As always, Vincent was sincere when he said that.

Ruth

IT was always the same Ruth thought to herself as the loud almost booming thoughts of those around her grew closer with each passing second. They were drawing near she could sense their minds drawing closer to her likes moths to a flame. Thoughts so different, and yet the same in so many ways, pained, hurt, scared, bold thoughts as different as each snow flake, and yet ultimately stemming from the same core emotions.

It was almost surprising Ruth thought to herself as she heard these thoughts and mentally viewed them all gathering in the inner most sanctums of her mind. Yes it was true that Ruth Aldine was technically blind not having eyes at all she instead had a flap of skin covering the part where her pupils should be at. The thoughts all echoed and boomed within the young woman’s mind as she tried desperately to erect a mental wall around her mind trying to purge the thoughts of others from her own mind as they drew even closer.

So lost in her own thoughts as well as those around her Ruth didn’t even notice the young woman that her powers over knowledge identified as Callan Michaels or better known as Static. A fellow member of the team Ruth was currently on. Gingerly Ruth lifted her head towards the woman giving her some indication of the fact that Ruth heard her. The woman’s gentle words traveled through the air around Ruth as a cold breeze blew across the field causing her to tie her shawl even tighter around her bare shoulders.

Taking in a deep breath of the morning’s cold air Ruth arose from the ground with all the grace of a swan as her hair was sweated high into the air by the renegade air. Clutching her hands before herself Ruth bowed her head ever so slightly in an inviting and respectful way to the woman in front of her. Someone else was coming she thought to hers as her mind once more was bombarded by the thoughts of another person who obviously had never taken a telepathic screening test in her life. Drawing in another deep breath Ruth calmed herself as she fortified the walls of her mental shield preparing herself for the new arrivals.

“Yes please to be making your acquaintance Ms Michaels. Yes you saw me of excuse me yes but you only saw me because I saw you. Oh yes the blind does seem far better than those with one two three eyes. I wait I wait please for things to happen because I know. I know you would come and I say Hello six more times. Yes!”

Her words were both confusing, and yet prophetic in a sense as Ruth did her best to try and explain herself to the woman before her. She was trying to tell Static about how she was a precog able to see visions days in advance which was why she was sitting in that precise spot where all could see her. Trying best as she could to allure those who made up her new team closer to her, but not only that but to impart a bit of wisdom towards the woman as well even if all her words sounded like a jumble of nonsense.

Ruth heard the voice of their leader the woman who would shape this motley crew into a proper war fighting peace bringing team. OR was she the woman who would doom them all to parish in a fight. Some things were clear as rain while others were mere shadows in a lake dancing and darting around never taking shape until it was too late. That was the true curse of being a precog it wasn’t knowing the future, but instead knowing how many possibilities the future can take. It was a horrible gift, but Ruth had bared it since the beginning, and would bear till the end. Turning towards Riva Ruth did her best not to hear the woman’s mind who simple screamed bloody murder in Ruth’s.

“Yes she was thank you. Listen oh please Listen More are yet to come she must still say Hello 5 more times. ”

So Riva wasn’t as dumb as Ruth might have placed her by first look she did seem to know about Ruth’s basic powers, but Ruth wagered that’s as far as her knowledge of the blindfolded woman went. Ruth simple stood their emotionless like a statue more precisely a gargoyle as Riva had just called her taking in the image before her. Reading everyone’s BODY movements, and taking them all in to account. Few knew just how attentive Ruth was, and even fewer knew of her true skills. There was a reason she was placed on this team aside from he obvious that was a telepath, and precog able to warn of a crisis beforehand.

Ruth did not need her eyes to know another was not coming nor did she need her telepathic powers to see who it was. TO be honest she rather jokingly thought who one earth would be able to miss the gigantic of a man known as Titan to many, and Vincent to few. Ruth listened intently as the man came in speaking with his sweet farmer’s son’s voice and well had to feel sad for him. Looking at the large man Ruth did not offer her hand to be shaken instead she placed her small palm over his and looked him straight in the eye.

“Please I am most sorry oh yes most sorry for your loss. I say Hello to you I will goodbye to you. Riva now their 4 left to say Hello to.”

Erin Kerrigan

Erin had actually spotted Riva exiting the building awhile back, hoping to catch her once she’d passed Ruth… Yeah, evidently that wasn’t happening. Instead her squad leader actually decided to strike up a chat with her blind roomie; wonderful... After a glance over at the small group gathering, she returned her attention back to the person she’d been chatting with, a figure who was currently hidden behind a wall corner to anyone who bothered to look over in their direction. Yes, it was totally weird that she was avoiding her room mate but ever since their first meeting she felt the chances of reconciliation were low, if not impossible. It ‘was’ something that she wanted to deal with though, just not… now.

She knew she wouldn’t be able to stay out of notice for long however, especially with the outfit she’d picked out; an expensive black suit jacket and pants, with a scruffily done up blood red tie, a white T buttoned up enough to show just a hint of breast and a pair of black dress shoes. Other than that, it didn’t help that she’d added three inches to her height (What? She was having one of those, “Oh my god, I’m short!” days).

She hummed in thought as she considered what to do, only to be interrupted as the stranger she’d been chatting with urged her, with that very familiar voice, “C’mon, I’d say meeting your squad leader is a lot more important than worrying about some squabble you had with a roomie. Besides, you can deal with Ruth later, so square those shoulders and get this over with.”

Erin slumped slightly at that, sighing in resignation as she muttered, “Fine, she’s probably already raping my mind anyway… Maybe I can drown her out with pleasant thoughts or something.”

Without another word, she gave a short nod in the “stranger’s” direction before shoving a hand into her pant’s pocket and making her way towards the Elites. It’d be business as usual as far as she was concerned now, no matter how privy anyone was to her thoughts.

Stepping up to the group, she regarded her Blind roomie with a frown, making no attempt this time round at even appearing friendly. “Hey Ruth,” she greeted tersely before turning to face the only other person she could identify, offering her a half-smile as she spoke, “And Riva I’m guessing, nice to finally meet you; I’m Erin Kerrigan.”.

As she greeted her future leader she allowed her gaze to roam over the others present, leaving her to wonder; is being a moody tom-boy an Elite Squad requirement? Then again, things weren’t looking all that grim she noted with a mischievous smile at the sight of the towering Titan, only for said smile to grow into a hopefully encouraging one as her gaze fell on the currently stern looking Static. Oddly enough, she really found Ruth looking a lot better in her more casual attire but refrained from commenting.

“So are you two also on the Elite squad,” she suddenly piped in with a smile, looking to Titan and Static. She still wasn’t quite sure of who’s who but the query was also so that she didn’t appear as if she was ignoring them.

Rogue
Unregistered

What was going on with Rogue? Shaking her head, the southerner walked outside for some fresh air. Maybe that would help her head get set straight. Rogue ran a gloved hand through her long dark hair. The white streak that is in the front of her hair dropped in front of her face first. She dressed in a skin tight tee shirt, tight pants, a pair of snickers, and a pair of dark green gloves on her hands.

There were dreams, dreams that made Rogue wake up in a cold sweat. Normally, she was use to bad dreams. Thanks to her mutation when she would touch someone's skin, she would see what they would see. Their thoughts would be in her mind depending on how long she held on. They would just fade away eventually. It wouldn't happen this often and almost every night. The other part that confused her was because she hasn't even absorbed anyone for sometime.

Her hands stuffed into her pockets. Rogue mind wondered in her usual daze without even noticing any of the others around that had gathered out there. Things just felt strange around the school. Did Rogue usually think that? Yeah, so why was she thinking differently.....who knows. It might have been a side effect from her power. Which was what she always tend to think.

As Rogue had walked outside, she noticed others that were out there. Not sure if she wanted to talk to them, she just continued to walk. Rogue was ready to pass them when she over heard one of them say about the 'Elite Squad'. It reminded her of not to long ago she was offered to be on the squad. And with Rogue being the type to want to help, she gladly accepted the job.

Rogue had never met any of these people. Just having seen them around the school. "Hey y'all, hope ah ain't interruptin' any of ya." she asked curiously. "Ah'm Rogue. Don't believe are met any of ya." she frowned her brows a little in thought, wondering if she did meet any of them. "Are y'all on tha elite squad?" she said as she stood on the side on them. Hands placed firmly on her hips

Static
Unregistered

((OOC: As more people join, I just want to remind everyone that Callan was a student at Xavier's for two years, but has been gone for the last four. People often leave out the timing of their arrival at the school in their character applications, so I can't figure out who may have known Static during her time at the school. If your character was at the school at the same time that Static was, they most likely know each other. Just give me some sort of notification if you want them to be anything more than complete strangers or acquaintances.))

Yes!”

It took a moment, but Callan was able to decipher Ruth's comments. Ruth knew that Callan would show up and apparently six others would be joining them. Great. Callan wasn't looking for a group conversation, but she couldn't just dismiss herself. Ruth sure was an odd one. Of course, the residents of this school were all a bit unique. Nothing like this could truly surprise her anymore. After considering how interesting all of the students were, nothing seemed that out-of-the-ordinary to her.

"Salut. Should Ah know you, hon?"

It didn't take a lot to irritate Callan. She already had it in her head that she wouldn't be a big fan of Riva Lafitte. Why, you ask? Well, Callan wasn't a big fan of taking orders from an 18-year-old student who could read her mind. . . regardless of who this student was. Also, she had already made assumptions about the girl's body language and her darling use of the word, "hon". It seemed Riva was some sort of rebel (probably without much of a cause). The worst part- she reminded Callan vaguely of her younger self. This elite squad stuff was going to be a bite worse than she imagined (and had already experienced), and she didn't have a lovely picture of it in her mind to begin with.

"Well, probably not. I'm Callan Michaels- Static," she said without the slightest change in her posture or facial expression. Surprisingly, she didn't sound annoyed at all.

Callan nodded in acknowledgement when Vincent arrived and greeted everyone. She had come to the conclusion that she liked him. They had only met a week ago, but it wasn't hard to see that he was a genuinely good guy. The kindness he showed her wouldn't be forgotten anytime soon. His presence definitely made her relax slightly, allowing her hands to make their way into the pockets of her jeans and her weight to shift comfortably to her right side.

Ruth's reaction to Titan's arrival made Callan curious. What did she mean? The mentioning of his "loss" made her worry slightly as she thought of the things Ruth could have been referring to. It was foolish to try to understand. Ruth could have meant a lot of different things. Her speech was cryptic, and Callan knew that trying to read into everything she said would only drive her insane. If Vincent wanted her to know something, he'd just tell her. His business wasn't hers, after all.

“So are you two also on the Elite squad?”

"Yeah," Callan answered, "I'm Callan Michaels, AKA Static."

Introductions were getting old (Callan had experienced many in the last week), but she resisted the urge to be a total jerk whenever she met someone who didn't know who she was. It was her own damn fault for leaving the school. This wouldn't have been a problem if she hadn't been gone for four years.

It wasn't long before yet another person joined their group, a woman Callan identified as Rogue.

" Yeah, we're all members of the squad. According to Ruth, we should be joined by two more soon. I'm Callan, by the way."

“ Callan thank you very much speak the truth and truth speaks her oh yes!”

This time Ruth wasn’t being a cryptic precog like most people assumed she was being. This time she was just being herself speaking normally in a tone that to be quite frank with you was most unusual for her. The usually cold and emotionless creature who others had dubbed Blindfold was in an odd cheerier almost happy mood as others slowly were drawn to her. The exact reason as to why Ruth was happy however laid a complete mystery even to her. Although she thought it might have had something to do with the fact she was actually getting to know people.

As time passed more and more people joined their cause people that even Ruth didn’t know would show. Sure ok time to be honest despite her big bravado act most of the time Ruth only had small assumptions of things that were to come. Perfect example was this right now she had a dream a few nights ago that showed her talking to a group of people, but the faces were far too dark to make out. Out of pure assumption Ruth thought that the faces of the shadowy figures where her new team mates. Of course Ruth would never let that secret out that was hers to posses and no one else’s.

A gentle smile spread across her tender lips as she heard the people around her present them and talked to one another. Some were eager to meet their new class mates others were nervous like her, but all shared the same trait of wanting to better the world around them. Perhaps that was why they were chosen not for their leadership skills nor unusually tempered powers, but for the sheer fact each of them harbored a secret hope for tomorrow. Ruth’s thoughts fell quiet once more as Static or Callan which ever she liked to be known by began to speak allowed once more.

She seemed like such a nice person Ruth noted the gentleness I her voice. Perhaps they could even be friends in the far future who knew? Ruth let out a small giggle of laughter Static spoke to Riva as she SENSED not read the woman’s thoughts. Most people often confused psychic readings with sensing’s. Ruth often hated that Sensing a person’s thoughts were simply impossible not to do. It was an innate vibe all psychics got from a nearby person almost in a sense like low leveled empathy, but different to a much weaker degree. Ruth could already tell Static did not like Riva, and to be honest who would blame the woman. Possessive commandeering and condescending woman Ruth didn’t take to her at all. Which was why she felt no ill will intruding on the woman’s thoughts?

" No thank you Ms Rogue is it. Excuse me but no you are not interupting you are where you must be. A pleasure please yes a pleasure to make your acquaintance really it is. I am Ruth I am Blindfold. "

Ruth put her small hand on top of his own outstretched one and seemed to look directly at him. The precognitive unnerved him to a certain extent, and what she said next made him blink in shock.

“Please I am most sorry oh yes most sorry for your loss. I say Hello to you I will goodbye to you. Riva now their 4 left to say Hello to.”

“I’m sorry, Ms Aldine?”

He tried to remind himself that the woman could have seen something fifty years from now. Either that or she was joking…he hoped that she was, although it didn’t appear so. Never in his life would he have traded his powers for Ruth’s own. It must have been hard for her to deal with on some days, perhaps impossible on others. She seemed nice, from their previous meeting, and he attempted to be as friendly as he could with her.

“So are you two also on the Elite squad,” [Erin] suddenly piped in with a smile, looking to Titan and Static.

“Yes. I’m Vincent Starkova…Titan. It’s nice to meet you both.” He said to Erin and Rogue. If offered a roomful of strangers, Vincent surely would have shaken all of their hands and sounded just as eager to make their acquaintances.

Was he the only boy on the whole squad? It wasn’t that he minded, but…it was just strange. He glanced at Callan, still pleased that she was here despite her bad mood. The young man wouldn’t have called her a friend but he hoped that they could be someday. Vincent found her easy to talk to, and wondered what she thought of him in return.

Paige stared at her tired face in the mirror. There were deep shadows under her eyes and her cheeks didn't have their usual creamy blush. She used a cool cucumber face cleanser to try and clear away the fug of horror, still clinging on to the back of her mind. The awful things she'd seen in her sleep...those nightmares. Herself and her siblings dying at the bloody hands of anti-mutant extremists.

For the first time in her life, Paige felt a very real doubt root itself deep into her mind. Coudl humans and mutants really live alongside each other? The doubt flared into anger. Mutants were turning humanity into something beautiful, and these people thought they could hold them back? They had to be taught a lesson.

Whoa...Paige...lack of sleep talking... She sighed and dragged her fingers through her hair. Guthries don't think like that, girl. She put it all down to the effects of the bad dreams, and the bad dreams down to the Sentinel attacks. She dragged a brush through her hair and decided to get some fresh air.

The day was just warm enough for Paige to leave her jacket in her room, and step outside in a white tank t-shirt and khaki cargo pants. Her beaded flip flops gave way to a slight cold draught, but Paige was distracted from this by a gethering of people by the Phoenix Statue. As she ambled over she realised they were all fellow Elite Squad members, most of whome she had seen but not met before. She frowned, not much liking the idea of being involved in any form of law enforcement. She hadn't given much thought to the Elite Squad recently.

As she reached the group, she smiled tiredly and gave a little wave "Hi, I'm Paige Guthrie. Was there a squad meeting called?"

The day was turning out to worse and worse by the minute. For the past few days Everett had been plagued by nightmares of giant human robots trying to consume and destroy but this was nothing new since he saw the sentinel for the first time. Since the mission at mutant town Synch had constantly dreamt of robots chasing him but recently those disturbing dreams had turned into nightmares that cold wake him from a dead sleep and leave him in a cold sweat. These disturbing visions of terror had quickly changed into a dread and loathing of not only monsters but their creators as well. To fuel his concern paranoia, his dreams always fell back to the embarrassment and humiliation of his mutancy becoming public.

His efforts to curb these nightmares ranged from modern medicine to old wives tales like not eating bread before sleep. When nothing worked Everett took to his oldest past time, physical exhaustion. This included running, swimming and even over extending the powers he’d acquired in the past week. Through his exhaustion and fidgeting Synch had done considerable damage to several things over the last few days. Someone’s bike got wrecked and there were some holes in doors but now he had calmed down enough to not destroy everything he touched.

The physical signs of sleepless nights were evident by the dark shadows around his eyes and the constant yawning but most of all it was the stern look he now held.

Synch walked into the garden near the phoenix monument as he returned from yet another run around the grounds when he saw his roommate and the queen of weird Ruth Aldine together with a few other people. He’d only met those two people officially but the others he’d seen around the mansion.
