RPER INFO: Canon or Original: Canon Name: Matt Contact: bumble2377@yahoo.com How did you find us: My girlfriend Other characters on this site: None Rules code: Xavier Give Credit Where Due: Mostly, it’s my own sickening knowledge of comic book stuffs, but yes… I did use the following for help in organizing my chaotic thoughts, http://www.marvel.com/universe/Deadpool http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadpool_%28comics%29 CHARACTER ![]() Affiliation: Other Name: Wade Wilson Codename: Deadpool Nicknames: (going to include aliases) Jack, Mithras, Chiyonosake (“The Wolf of the Rice Wine”), Rhodes, Corpus, Peter Parker (stand-in), Hobgoblin (stand-in), Lopez, Thom Cruz, Johnny Silvini, Merc with a Mouth, and countless others. Place of birth: Canada (exact location unknown) Age: 33 Time at the Institute: N/A Marital Status: Single Known Relatives: Father (name unknown), Mother (name unknown), no other known relatives Base of Operations: A warehouse he shares with his roommate Weasel. It’s large enough to keep a couple of vehicles, his large arsenal, and anything necessary to make the place comfortable. Weasel took the liberty of converting the back office into a bathroom. Of course they have pirated cable that gets all the channels (I repeat… ALL the channels). Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Physical Appearance: Deadpool’s physical appearance is rarely seen, as he constantly conceals it with his combat uniform. He is extremely well-toned, and muscular due to his occupation as a mercenary/assassin/bounty hunter and his artificial mutation. The detrimental cancer has left his skin cracked, broken, brown, and tough. Before the Weapon X procedure, he had brown hair, but due to the cancer, he has lost all body hair. He has seemingly vague, brown eyes. Standing at 6’2” high, he weighs roughly 210 lbs. Deadpool wears a black and red costume, mostly to hide his disfigured body. It’s often been commented on it’s similarity to Spiderman’s costume; he has even been guilty of posing as the web-head on a few separate occasions. The suit is made to constrict his natural movement as little as possible. It is also accompanied by a belt and shoulder harness, used to hold his large array of ammunition, explosives, teleportation device, swords, knives, guns, grapple, chemicals, and a fruit snack pouches. A thigh and calf strap is used to hold even more of his arsenal. Distinguishing Marks: His entire body is cancer-ridden. The interaction between his healing factor and the cancer has had the adverse affect of giving his skin a rough, brown, broken texture. Clothing style: He is rarely seen without his combat suit and therefore has almost no clothing style. On the occasion that he does don civilian clothes, they are usually jeans and a baggy t-shirt or collared shirt. These are still almost always accompanied by his combat gloves, boots, and mask. Xsuit: N/A Powers: Deadpool possesses a superhuman healing factor derived from the former weapon X experiment, Codename: Wolverine. This allows him to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his cellular structure at a rate far greater than that of an ordinary human, giving him the capability to even regrow severed limbs or vital organs. The speed at which his healing factor works is directly proportional to the amount of damage he Deadpool sustains. It also provides a virtual immunity to poisons and most drugs, as well as an enhanced resistant to diseases. The artificial healing factor, constantly interacting with his body, has dramatically retarded the aging process. Unlike the original owner of Deadpool’s ability, Deadpool’s ability to heal is mentally driven to a partial extent. Due to the healing ability Deadpool possesses, many of his natural physical attributes have been enhanced. His musculature produces considerably less fatigue toxins than ordinary humans, granting him superhuman levels of stamina. His agility, reflexes, and strength have been enhanced well beyond the natural limits of a human. Deadpool’s reaction time and speed have caused awe in many of those he has had to do battle with. Because of his speed and the amazing amount of stamina he possesses, Domino once referred to him as a living Energizer Bunny. While proving to be a boon to Deadpool’s work, the healing factor is not without side effects. The cancer present in Wade’s body at the time of the Weapon X experiment interacted with the healing factor in an unanticipated way, causing it to speed the growth process of cancerous cells. Regardless of the his ability constantly repairing the damage of the mutated cancer, it is a constant battle leaving the skin on his face and body terribly disfigured. Like the battle in his body. Deadpool’s healing factor also interacts with his brain cells as well as the rest of his body, making him immune to telepaths like Charles Xavier and Emma Frost. This interaction, however, is the origin of his apparent insanity. Abilities: Wade has served in the Canadian special forces as well as black ops for many years, not to mention all his time spent as a freelance mercenary. As a result, he is fluent in many different forms of armed and unarmed combat. Extensive training in guns and melee weapons, he has deadly aim and is extremely proficient in most forms of firearms, thrown weapons and several types of martial weapons such as the katana, the sai, and knives. He also carries a personal teleporter created by Weasel that takes him out of trouble when necessary (though it consistently teleports him into danger almost as often. He honestly doesn’t know why he even bothers with it sometimes.) He is fluent in English, Spanish, German, and Japanese. Weakness: Wade’s largest weakness is the result of the healing factor he received. He has been perceived to be clinically insane. While Wade is an extremely fast and capable fighter, he has been known to be over confident. That and the fact that he allows his concentration to slip from time to time often finds him in some extremely unfortunate predicaments. Yes, he is a deadly person, but in all honesty, were it not for his healing factor, Wade would have died a long time ago. He has also been hesitant on more than one occasion, divided by wanting to do the right thing and his desire to look out for himself. This hesitancy has been used more than once by different opponents, including Bullseye. He’s also extremely insecure about his physical appearance, relying on the mask to keep him from having to acknowledge it. Personality: As a young man growing up with no mother and an abusive father, he quickly hardened his heart and lost sensitivity to his conscience, having a history of violence from a young age. This was further aided by his time of abuse in the Weapon X program. Years of working as a hired gun has done nothing to soften his heart toward violence, often being called on to assassinate complete strangers. To this day, his job and the mental instability he suffers keeps his resolve sharp: whatever it takes to get the job done. Deadpool is an enigma to almost everyone. At times, he can be insulting, frustrating, and violent – seemingly lacking a moral compass. At other times, he seems to genuinely care about the few friends he has amassed. He has grown extremely fond of his friend and information broker whom he has dubbed Weasle, rescuing him more than once, yet stabbed him in the leg for the last cheesy puff. He is often crass, taking any opportunity available to insult or harass whoever his audience is, using his witty banter and sharp insults in combat. Domino has observed that this is the most dangerous weapon in Deadpool’s arsenal, as it constantly throws off his enemies, making it seem as if he isn’t concentrated on the battle when he is constantly observing his enemy, looking for any openings or signs of weakness. This observation is a good example of how Deadpool’s mind works. While seeming to have a very loose grasp on reality, he is extremely intelligent, concealing it extremely well. Underneath that rough, violent, wisecracking exterior lies a little boy. Deep down, Wade wants to find someone to love and someone who will love him in return. He struggles with his physical appearance and his mental instability, though he would never admit it. The wearing of the mask is a representation of how he handles his life. He covers much of his true feelings with sarcasm and snark until all suspicion that there is a sane, decent human being under the costume is burned away. Though he has opened up to people like Blind Al, Weasel and Theresa Rourke, he would prefer most people to not know about that side of him. Despite his attempt at hiding some of these deeper feelings, exposure to people like Siryn and the X-men have caused Deadpool to soften a little over the years. While he has been on the opposing side of the X-Men in the past, he has also helped them on numerous occasions, even submitting his blood to Beast when it was theorized that his mutated genetic makeup was the key to curing the legacy virus. He has a sense of honor (most of the time) when fighting, preferring hand-to-hand combat over firearms unless he’s having a bad day. Despite his rough past, shady occupation, and crude personality, Deadpool has potential to do the right thing when he really tries, despite all the obstacles in his path, and those close to him have learned to not give up. History: Wade Wilson was born to a Canadian army general and his terminally ill wife. His mother died early in Wade’s childhood, leaving him to be raised by a father who turned to alcohol to cope with his loss. Unfortunately, Wade often became the object of his father’s drunken anger, going to bed with multiple bruises and sometimes worse. Little is known of Wade’s life during this time except that he dropped out of high school around 15 and spent a lot of his time with his truant friends, drinking and fighting. At 17, his father was killed by one of his friends in an alcohol-induced fight. Not even staying for the funeral, Wade left his home to join the army special forces. Hand-picked for black ops, he was trained in the use of various types of firearms and explosives, many different forms of hand-to-hand combat, and infiltration techniques including languages such as Japanese, German, Spanish, and Mandarin. Washed out of the military after a few years for reasons unknown, Wade made a formidable reputation for himself as a mercenary for hire, accepting only assassination jobs for those felt deserved it. He would often disappear and resurface with a new identity when he failed an assignment. Little is known about the exact specifics of Wade’s mercenary life before being issued into the weapon X program. He spent some time in Tangier Morocco where he dated a woman named Francine. After the relationship soured, he left, wandering Asia before taking up a job infiltrating the Okayata Japanese wrestling ring for a rival crime boss. Wilson spent 3 years as a wrestler and under the Okayata sensei's tutelage. Falling in love with the Okayata crime lord’s daughter, Wade was unable to assassinate the boss, forcing him to flee to America and change his identity again. This was allegedly the first time he refused to kill someone. In America, he fell in love with a teenage prostitute named Vanessa Carlysle. Wade took care of her, using his talents to earn a living. For the first time, he felt at peace. It was at this time that he was ordered to assassinate a British intelligence operative known only as Althea. Although he murdered everyone else at the base, his target managed to escape. His employers, angry at his failure, targeted Vanessa; fortunately, she managed to escape being killed by the attack. Wade, feeling guilty about putting her in danger coupled with the fact that he had received news that he had terminal cancer, broke up with Vanessa, not wanting her to be stuck with a dying man. Desperate for a cure, he contacted some of his former military acquaintances for help. One of them introduced him to Department K, a special weapons division of the Canadian military. Wilson became a subject of Department K’s Weapon X program. Having terminal cancer and nothing to lose, Wade was a perfect candidate for a test regarding a previous successful experiment. They infused the DNA of former Weapon X subject Wolverine with the DNA of Wilson in hopes of giving him the same healing factor. The desired result never occurred. Instead, the healing properties of the foreign DNA interacted with the cancer in Wilson’s body, mutating it, causing it to savagely attack the body, the healing factor doing nothing more for Wilson than repairing the constant damage from the cancer alone. While halting the lethality of the disease, it left Wade disfigured and mentally unbalanced. Regarded as a failed experiment, Wade began working for Department K, performing covert and dangerous missions for the government branch. During a mission, Wilson snapped and killed one of his fellow team mates. Thinking him too much of a liability, Department K sent him to the facility where they sent all their failed test subjects: The Hospice. The facility was I place to experiment on those that has “washed out” of the Weapon X program. Wade was a favorite for Doctor Killbrew to work on due to his interesting psyche. As a result of this, Wilson was the leader of the dead pool, a game the inmates played to see who would survive The Hospice the longest amount of time. During many of these torturous experimentations, Wade started hallucinating, thinking that he saw death personified as a beautiful woman whom he fell in love with. As a result, he longed for death and constantly goaded Killbrew’s assistant, The Attending, into anger, in hopes that he would put Wade out of his misery and unite him with his love. Killbrew, however, never wanted any of his subjects to die. Execution was saved for an inmate who took another inmate’s life. In revenge for constant taunting, the sadistic Attending lobotomized one of Wade’s closer friends in The Hospice. Unable to stand seeing his comrade in obvious pain, Wade killed him to put him out of his misery. With reluctance, Killbrew ordered Wade’s death, which is exactly what The Attending had hoped for. Without wasting any time, the cruel warden of Killbrew’s workshop ripped Wade’s heart from his chest, leaving his body to grow cold on the table. This violent action was the catalyst that jump-started Wade’s healing factor to do more than just heal his cancer. Fueled by his hate for his captors his latent abilities rapidly regenerated his heart and closed up his chest, bringing back to life the man who was supposed to be dead. Out of his cell with no one guarding him, Wade set all the other inmates free, causing a chaotic riot that ended in the deaths of many, including Killbrew and The Attending. In the ruckus, Wade escaped, taking on the codename Deadpool for his new life. After escaping Killbrew’s workshop, Deadpool set up shop in a small apartment in New York, where he hired Weasel to be his technology specialist and information broker. The two became fast friends, despite Wade’s tendency to be abusive. He began taking jobs for crime bosses such as the mysterious Mr. Tolliver, Wilson Fisk, and The Owl – who was the brunt of many of Deadpool's jokes. Using his vast experience and military training along with the enhanced abilities granted him through Wolverine's X-gene, Wade became one of the top and most renowned bounty hunters and mercenaries in the trade. He was also known as a psychotic asshole who often as not got the people working with him killed, though speculation ran wild as to whether it was intentional backstabbing or not. During his travails, Wade had run-ins with several other mercenaries and heroes all over the world in Russia, Japan, South Africa, all over the Middle East, as well as North and South America. Bullseye, and Mystique were among those he'd had run-ins with on more than one occasion, and Deadpool still claims to have a pair of Raven Darkholme's panties. He often worked for different branches of the Hellfire Club and its members. However, he fell out of favor with the New England branch when he stole data from them during an exchange with China. During a low-level operation, Wade had a run-in with Jet Black, an on-again, off-again side kick, friend, and occasional conscience. Due to the antics of the pair and Weasel, Wade ended up tossing an adamantium-cased bomb into Cuba, accidentally killing the President and his officials. Not long after, Weasel was kidnapped during a botched mission to steal information from a Hydra base in Russia. Keeping Deadpool from blowing the door off X-Factor's hinges, Jet Black agreed to come along and help rescue Wade's truest pal. During the rescue, the pair got switched bodies temporarily, yet Wade was never able to find a bathroom during their stay in the base, in order to check out his new 'goods'. It was there they met the cowardly Agent Bob of Hydra, who aided them against his will in the liberation of Weasel from his captors. By the time the mission was over, they had been returned to their own bodies and headed for home. Wade continued causing mayhem on and off panel, however, during one of his rants using stolen sidewalk chalk, he learned that Angel and Jet had been captured by Scrambler and the Marauders. Aiding the X-Men, Wade did his part in hunting them down and freeing the pair from the sadistic group. Deadpool had several run-ins over the course of the next several months, briefly interrupting Gambit and Rogue on a nightly stroll through Coney Island, slaughtering the Enforcers in front of a couple of morlocks, and making fun of everyone in the meantime. A run-in with members of the Brotherhood left the merc unconscious, his prized katanas stolen by Black Tom during a train robbery. He also had one or two run-ins with the very scary Outlaw... a hot woman, but too much crazy for even Deadpool to handle. Wade proved how much of an asset he could be in the trenches during the battles with Apocalypse and his four horsemen, teleporting into the air to take Death on personally and doing his bit to keep the world as safe as possible in order to keep the money rolling. Deadpool teamed up several times with Domino, taking down may bounties too heavy for one mercenary to take on their own. One notable example was Dizzy Tails, a rapper who owed more money than he could ever hope to pay. Unfortunately, he was guarded by Strong Guy and Puck, and between the pair of mercs and the two bodyguards, there were several other casualties aside from the rapper, including Bruce Willis and Simon Cowell. Wade was offered a large sum of money for the capture of X-23, and attempted to take the girl by shooting her in the head. However, he did not count on the appearance of the X-Men, or Laura's rapid healing factor to be such a problem and failed in the attempt. During an assassination mission, Wade ran into none other than Vanessa Carlyle, who turned out to be a shapeshifting mutant as well as a mercenary as well. Unfortunately they ended up being chased by cops and ended up hiding in a garbage dumpster where they were able to find a little bit of closure regarding the mistakes made in their past relationship. Wade is currently back to doing his own thing, but has been tossing around the idea of starting up a business with other mercenaries... a place where they could network and pool their resources. He disappeared for a bit, but he's back, and he's angry at vegetarians and aliens. SAMPLE RP POST: Time of day: 11:23am Place in the time-line: Before I met any of you mooks, I think. We haven’t decided for sure on that yet. Sunlight gently caressed all that it touched on this mild spring day in Queens. People busied themselves, finding any excuse to be outside bathing in the warmth, sure it was a crime to stay indoors no matter the reason. The slap of feet on pavement was only occasionally heard by the coule running on the sidewalk, trying to keep their New Year’s resolution to drop the weight. The pavement pounding was often drown out by the combination of cars roaring by, honking at the occasional reckless cab driver, the loud voices of children who had yet to learn volume control, and the five housewives clucking like the hens they resembled as they browsed the combination of shops, coffee houses, and the occasional stand selling everything from fruit to flowers. Despite all the noise, this warm spring day was pleasant and peaceful for any native New Yorker that had weathered the recently-ended harsh winter. All seemed right in the world. BANG!! A startling crash cut through the peace as if it were a razorblade slicing through flesh. The wall of the corner coffee shop renowned for their hazelnut cappuccino and key-lime pie exploded, large chunks of brick and mortar sprayed the street adjacent, shattering windshields, causing pedestrians to throw themselves to the ground in sudden panic, and injuring some of those that weren’t so quick to shield themselves. A loud yelping confirmed that the dog being walked by the 62 year-old veteran had been hit with a piece of the debris. In the center of the chaos was a blur of red streaking out of the building and into the street, hitting the pavement with a loud crunch, sending him rolling across the remainder of the asphalt until the curb brought the crimson mass to and abrupt halt with another loud snap. “Ow,” came from the now-motionless mass of red and black. For a single movement was nonexistent, as if time had stopped for everyone. The bystanders were afraid that the eruption was only the beginning of something even worse, afraid to move and become the target of violence. For the limp, costumed body, it was just impossible… for the first few moments. Finally, he began to stir, the sound of bones popping back into sockets as he slowly began to unfold limbs from unnatural positions. Raising his head to reveal a masked visage, his eyes immediately fell onto the female runner laying prostrate less the four feet from him. “Hi,” he said weakly as she attempted to make eye contact with him. He nodded toward the shop he was just hurled from, “My girlfriend just broke up with me and threw me through a wall. Could I get your number?” Despite the terrifying situation, the woman raised her head, looked at the man in confusion, barely uttering a reply, “I… I’m… married.” The red and black clad man slowly began to struggle to his hands and knees, cuts exposed by torn cloth healing before he very eyes. “Really? That’s hot.” Getting to his feet, he gave a shudder as he looked toward the gaping hole he had just come from. Looking back down at the runner, he began reaching into his pockets as if trying to find something, “Well, in case you’re interested later, lemme give you my card. It has all ---” “‘Pool,” barked a feminine voice over the loud crashing and shattering coming from within the confines of the ravaged coffee shop. “Get your ass back in here! We’ve still got a job to do!” “Can’t believe it… it’s like I’m married to the broad, only without the benefits,” he said as he stormed back through the hole. “Can’t we just buy the guy a beer and settle this in a not-so-ouch way,” he shouted back. Reaching the hole he sprang back inside, muttering under his breath, “I can’t believe I’m getting my ass handed to me all just to satisfy some sadistic admin on an RP site. Wait… what the hell is an RP?” |
