Timeline: 13 April Time of Day: 5:30 afternoon A dreary silence held the golden landscape in its grasp. The sun was setting in the west casting the world in bright colorings of gold and scarlet. A lone figure walked up the road, his body hidden by robes upon robes. Clear blue eyes gazed out of the shadows of the hood, focussing on their destination; The Mansion loomed before them, the rays of the dying sun painted the building, making it almost magical. He smiled; Perhaps a castle? Filled with some dragons hiding some gold, He gave his weary head a shake and continued his path silently. A few birds chirped happily in the trees, dancing on branches, making their own unique music. The Figure smiled once again, wishing he could take out his flute and play along, but this was far to close to humans for comfort. Cloven hooves clanged onto tar rode beneath him, their sounds echoing harshly above the silence which still grasped the golden night. By the time he reached the gate, the vibirant colors had drained from the sky and the mansion now reflected an ordinary building, with no magical escence. He gazed silently at the now oridnary house and felt a small pang of loss, so close, yet so far. Shaking himself back to reality he looked left and right at the gate, hoping to find some means of entering. His gaze focussed on a small electronic looking box, with a grate and s few buttons. Among them was a red one, he tilted his head to the side and gazed for a long moment at the small black thing. He had been hiding in the forest for many, many years, electronics and technology were not his strong points at this stage. Throwing caution to the wind he finally came to a descision. A bony pale blue hand reached out from under the robe and pushed the small red button. He winced for a moment as if waiting for something horrible to happen, but the black bocks merely made a strange noisy crackling type of niose. :) Finally it hit him, this was a communicator of sorts, finally some memory seemed to be getting back to him! After years of traveling, with no one to speak to but the birds, one tends to forget oneself. Leaning forwards he said softly into the grate; "Hello?" |

As another new student arrived at their gates, two figures moved around the room that they would always think of as the office of Charles Xavier. Two people but with one seamless consciousness, conversing silently back and forth as they browsed through the office; the office Mina had briefly pretended was hers, when she bothered to show up and do work. The engraved nameplate Mina Harker – Headmistress hovered in the air before Jean’s green eyes before it was dumped unceremoniously into the trashcan. :: There is another new student at the gates. His way of thinking is very fanciful. :: The Jean part of their mind whispered. ::There are always new students,:: said the Scott part of their mind, as the man barely turned his blazing red eyes from where he was looking at a picture on the wall. The Original Six, all of them so young, so inexperienced. How had they survived? ::There are more and more of us every day. The school has increased by nearly half this year alone. Perhaps that's the trouble. The school grew too quickly, and our staff didn't grow fast enough.:: :: Yes :: said the Jean part. :: We thought the world would never change. We thought Magneto, other mutants, was where the danger lie. How ironic that the evolved could not adapt swiftly enough. :: Idly, their thought reached out and touched one of their elite. :: Titan :: Their voices spoke into his mind. :: A new student is at our gate. Please go to him. We believe he has traveled for a long time to get here. We will welcome him after he has rested. :: Even thought they needed to clean out the office of the traitor, the duties of running the school still needed to be attended to. |

Since the takeover of the school, Vincent had become a sort of de facto monitor when out and about on his jogs. Cyclops might have known more about the security system that they had replaced only days before, but Vincent was learning in strides as time passed. With more emphasis now placed on training there wasn’t much time to learn—so he had upped his running schedule to patrol in a more physical way. As much as he trusted Cyclops and Phoenix, there was only so much they could accomplish in a day. This was one less thing that would cause them to overextend. He ran and jogged at intervals, inwardly celebrating the freedom of the grass that turned into a river of greenery beneath his feet. There was nothing like being able to revel in the physicality of running, of exceeding the confines he had previously believed were the utmost of his abilities. :: Titan :: Their voices spoke into his mind. :: A new student is at our gate. Please go to him. We believe he has traveled for a long time to get here. We will welcome him after he has rested. :: ::Of course.:: He had adapted to the unified voice of his teachers. Some fought what they perceived as an intrusion, disliking the sudden unfamiliar voice within their thoughts. Instead he welcomed it, accepted the silent communication. They were his leaders, and he was their soldier. Another sort of freedom was available to him under their reign, and he reaped the benefits. Happiness was derived from obedience—humanity and those that fought against them would realize that soon. Turning towards the gates as he rounded the corner, Titan sprinted. He was glad he had decided to wear his Elite Squad jacket on his run/patrol, and reached the gates within moments. He opened the gate and gave his best and most welcoming smile, noting Faun’s appearance. Some mutants were physically affected by a fluke in their genes. “Hello. My name is Vincent Starkova—Titan—and on behalf of the faculty and students: welcome to Xavier’s. Please, come inside.” |

The bird songs drifted upon the wind and licked the ears of Faun. He smiled softly at the sweet music which lingered inside him and taking a moment while he awaited a reply, he closed his eyes softly and focused on the music. Robins, it seemed were singing merily, dancing through the trees, Faun listened carefully to the beautifull voices of the birds. It was rare to find such pleasure in things so small, but for Faun it was complte and utter bliss. So focused upon the sounds that surrounded him that he did not notice the being a few feet away from him, untill they spoke; “Hello. My name is Vincent Starkova—Titan—and on behalf of the faculty and students: welcome to Xavier’s. Please, come inside.” Faun jumped slightly at the sudden disruption of his peace. He felt a furious blush creep into his cheecks, thoroughly embaressed for getting hooked on a silly bird song. His gaze focused more closely on the one who had spoken and tightening his robe he gave a soft stare. The mutant was built like a gorilla, well the muscle at least, he seemed pleasing and friendly enough, but Faun would rather break his flute than get on this guy's bad side. Faun nodded and carefully stepped through the gate, his gaze never really met Titian's, almost seeming slightly nervous around the man. But after entering the grounds and giving a long stare at the mansion, Faun finally spoke; "My name is Leo," his voice was soft, almost whispering as he spoke, "Pleased to meet you.... Vincent?" The more he spoke the more nervous he got, he seemed very concious of his looks and kept fidgeting with his robe, trying desperatly to hide any and all features that might show his body. Faun wasn't sure how to react, his many years in the wilderness had taught him only how to deal with solitude, not how to react to conversation. He suddenly wished he had practiced those skills a little bit more. |

Out of the corner of his eye Vincent noticed the mutant flush but chose not to comment on it. Their mind must have been on other topics, or perhaps they were just daydreaming—whatever it was however the Russian-American didn’t much deign to ask. He did however catch the stranger staring which caused him to heave a mental sigh. So many people assumed the worst—would it have killed them to put their preconceptions about him aside? Synch had been the same way before he had left. The stranger stepped through the gate. His body language was tense and anxious for some reason. No matter, Vincent would see that he could be as comfortable as possible. "My name is Leo," his voice was soft, almost whispering as he spoke, "Pleased to meet you.... Vincent?" “You could call me Titan, Leo.” Another warm smile. “I’ll bring you to my leaders, come.” Closing the gate Vincent turned. Leo didn’t seem put at ease, and was very conscious of his appearance it seemed. That was understandable, but he hoped that it could change over time. Xavier’s hardly discriminated against physical mutations after all. With his hands tucked into his pockets and his strides shortening so that Leo could look at the grounds, Vincent was ever watchful. “How did you hear of us?” |

Leo tilted hishead softly to the right as the stared at 'Titan'; he seemed a little strange to say the least. Though perhaps it was just his imagination. “I’ll bring you to my leaders, come.” Leaders? Leo raised an eyebrow at this, what leaders? Did they have them? Why would they need leaders for? So he had been hiding in a spider infested jungle for the past few years, how much would he know, honestly? He didn't know much, the only knowledge he did have about the outside world while he was in the forests was that no one seemed to take joy in seeing him like this. Bloody briliant that one. “How did you hear of us?” The goat-man jumped slightly, being once again torn from his thoughts. He really needed to start paying attention. "A little bird told me" Leo said a smile creeping up into his face, maybe that was a bad joke, but quite frankly he didn't care much for jokes. "Rmours" he said, this time a little more sombre, he really wasn't at ease yet and though this guy was nice, a little strange, (though that might just be his odd judgment of the guy) he still couldn't bring himsle fot actually look the guy in they eyes without feeling very self conscious. Cloven hooves scraped the grime beneath them, his eyes focusing once more on the mansion, the light was dying and they silently closed in on the doors. Leo suddenly felt very nervous, he didn't have much knowledge about other mutants. "So," he started seeming slightly nervous, "do you have any... um" he paused again not sure how to ask, "do you have any... p-powers?" |

A little bird told me" Leo said a smile creeping up into his face, maybe that was a bad joke, but quite frankly he didn't care much for jokes. Titan nodded, though inwardly he grimaced. That joke had been done to death. His punishment would be swift in coming, which was perfectly acceptable. He had introduced himself with his human name—something considered most abhorrent now. The familiar twist of guilt wormed its way into his stomach. No matter how confident he had become he still hated to disappoint Cyclops and Phoenix. "Rmours" he said. “I see.” Nodding he turned to smile, briefly, at Leo as they walked up the driveway to the main entrance. What sort of powers did this creature have? Animal communication, perhaps something more. They would find out, but it wasn’t exactly his prerogative to be an inquisitor. Leo was visibly uncomfortable by this situation, so until it was over Vincent would continue to be polite and kind. Like a distant dream he remembered being terrified of himself and what he could do. Scott and Jean had changed all of that. Hopefully they could do the same for this newest student. "So," he started seeming slightly nervous, "do you have any... um" he paused again not sure how to ask, "do you have any... p-powers?" “Yes. Like many mutants my abilities stem solely from my body, which you’ll find isn’t rare. I have super strength, increased endurance/agility, and increased but mild durability. At present levels I can lift the equivalent of an eighteen wheeler, though I can lift more if I continue with my regime. You’ll find that everyone within these walls has powers, Leo. What about you?” |
