Time of day: Eh, I'll give it 9:30 at night Place in the time-line 2 days after "Busting the iron bars of hell' It was quite late at night now, and due to utter boredom and restlessness, Zanra now sat by the door of the Danger Room, lonely and jumpy. She needed something to do, badly, and fighting was the only thing that could get her out of this little phase. Of course, now that she was 'nulled', she had no choice but to hide her true potential from not only ShadowX, but all of her classmates, even Ari and Diego, who felt more like parents than superiors. Sighing in defeat, Zanra shuffled her feet on the floor. She knew that unless she had an elite with her, she wouldn't be allowed inside, and it was upsetting to think about. If it wasn't for the facade she had to pull, she would be using her powers to entertain herself, making shapes out of fire in her hands, letting her eyes light up as the sparks flew away from her tanned skin. Sighing, she let go of everything, and allowed a few sparks to fly from the starburst on her palm, grinning. |

Kurt walked briskly down the corridor to the danger room. He had some free time and thought he might spend it honing his combat abilities. He had been transforming his acrobatic prowess into a certain style of martial arts ever since he came to the institute, weaving his various mutant abilities together to make him a formidable foe. As he rounded the corner he saw Zanra sitting next to the danger room door. Hope for the girl began to rise. Perhaps she had seen the error of her ways and wished to prepare for the coming war. Of course, he would not remove the nullification of her powers but the basics of hand to hand combat are still vital to learn. It can even be more helpful to a long range mutant. If someone does manage to close distance it can be good to have something to fall back on so you aren't completely helpless. Kurt always hoped for the best in people. How wonderful it would be if Zanra's passion and power could be directed towards the dream. He hated having to punish the children in such a way, but sacrifices were required if success was to be an option. As he saw her get up to leave, Kurt spoke to her, "If you are looking for some training, I am sure that can be arranged," he said in a loud voice, "As far as I know, the danger room is not being used right now. Kurt had not yet gotten close enough to Zanra to see the tiny sparks she was creating. Had she been turned to face him he would be able to see them. |

Zanra snapped her hands closed and looked up at Kurt as he began to speak to her. Luckily, he seemed un-aware of the sparks she had created moments before. Smiling and nodding, she stood up and walked over to him, pulling of the apperance of the perfect, innocent little student, following orders and commands. She hadn'd met Kurt before, but she easily noticed the thick german accent as she spoke, remembering the accent from her father back home, who had the same exact accent. Of course, he also nearly never spoke english. He was a pure german, and always spoke german in front of her, causing her to learn a second language. Obviously, she was a bit exited about going into the danger room. She had only been in there once before, and she didn't have any power control, so she ruined it for the whole thing. Hopefully Kurt didn't know about that, or it would be quite embarrasing for her. Zanra wanted to talk to him about what he was going to do in there, but after taking her little 'vow of silence' after an incident weeks before, she refused to say a word, not even in a different language, although speaking german to Kurt would be kind of fun. |

Kurt entered his code to the danger room and the door hissed open. He motioned for Zanra to enter. "Now, your powers have been confiscated but I think some basic hand to hand training would do you well. In my opinion it teaches discipline that can't always be taught by learning how to use your powers. I'm very glad to see that you aren't sulking about this, Mshindo. Once you show that you are willing to commit to the dream I'm sure you will get your powers back, Kurt said this with the utmost confidence. He was so glad the Grey-Summers had found a non-violent way to deal with trouble makers. It seemed effective so far, as well. "Begin scenario: Basic self defense," said Kurt with a hint of sadness. This was what Logan used for his general classes, but he had taken the traitorous road. Kurt and Logan couldn't be described as amazing friends, but he had always thought that Logan, of all people, would stay loyal to the dream. A life sized and life like person appeared. The person did not move or attack, but simply took a basic stance. "Now, for someone like yourself with no physically based powers this basic stance is most effective," Kurt motioned to the hologram, "Note the positioning of the legs. This is probably the most important part. If you do not position your feet correctly on the ground it is difficult to maintain your balance and this is all for nothing. Watch." Kurt raised his voice in a command to the danger room, "Escalate realism: condition one" The laws of physics and biology now applied to the holographic dummy, but it would not respond to anything. Kurt swung his foot in a powerful kick, connecting to the side of the dummy. The dummy swayed, but did not loose it's balance. "Now, try and imitate that stance." |

When Kurt opened the door to the Danger Room, Zanra nodded, following him in with a bit of a jump to her step. The second she walked in, her eyes trailed around the entire room, amazed at the technology around her. She spun around a bit while she looked, smiling. "Now, your powers have been confiscated but I think some basic hand to hand training would do you well. In my opinion it teaches discipline that can't always be taught by learning how to use your powers. I'm very glad to see that you aren't sulking about this, Mshindo. Once you show that you are willing to commit to the dream I'm sure you will get your powers back." Zanra could only smile and nod. Once he started the hologram, she stood close to him, that is, until he started to demonstrate what exactly he wanted her to do. Although Zanra couldn't really agree with what he was teaching, she knew that it would be best just to do as told. The laws of physics and biology now applied to the holographic dummy, but it would not respond to anything. Kurt swung his foot in a powerful kick, connecting to the side of the dummy. The dummy swayed, but did not loose it's balance. "Now, try and imitate that stance." Zanra sighed, and got into the exact same posititon as the dummy in front of her, but she had a few tricks ready for the second he went to test her. |

The girl picked up the basics quickly enough. This kind of lesson wasn't really Nightcrawler's forte, but he knew enough about hand to hand combat to be useful. He didn't have any long range powers so getting up close and personal was his only bet. His powers helped a lot with that. Maybe he would teach her how to fence as well. After all Mshindo seemed eager to learn. "Very good," he said, giving praise where deserving, "but let's try something maybe a little more fun, hm. I'll be right back." Kurt vanished and reappeared in the control room. This required a little more direct control than voice commands could allow him. He accessed the enemy control and adjusted it so that the enemy was the appropriate difficulty. He made them a little younger as well. An adult might have a bit of an advantage. Still, this foe would not be easy. It was time to see if she could use what she had learned in a little more intense setting. "Okay Mshindo, this will give you a chance to practice. Remember, for the purposes of training it is better for you to try and fight correctly than just to win. Don't worry, I made so that you won't get too hurt. |
