Time of day: 5:00 PM Place in the time-line: July 23; two days before Even Morlocks Need To Read Classes suck. This was probably the motto of many teens, to be posted on billboards so as to spread the news (as if everyone didn't already know). Unlike many teens, Vic was usually immune to this genetic distaste, but for the moment, it would serve as an excellent excuse (to nobody but himself), to skip out on his academic obligations and spend a little time in a state of... nonworrying. There were few places where one could simply be still, without the hassles and nuisances of teen drama, assignment deadlines, and social and personal live issues. In fact, until just this moment, Anole hadn't known of any such place. It came to him in a sudden revelation. An epiphany. One that would convince him that it would be a lot smarter to spend a *ahem* vacation somewhere outside your room. The roof? Yea, that'll work. For the next couple of hours, he wouldn't worry about anything. For the time being, all Vic had planned for the day was to exist. To become one with the universe. All he wanted out of the afternoon was complete and total relaxation, and perhaps a nice sunset later on in the evening. Funny how the best sunsets get their color from pollution... One day he would figure out exactly what made the different colors in a nice sunset, so he could freak out some environmentalist who absolutely adored purple and pink sunsets. For the moment, however, he would satisfy himself with a nap. Legs dangling over the side of Xavier's insitute, the school's resident lizard-boy passed out for the next hour or five. |

Kel didn't notice his roommate when he first came on the roof. It was really surprising how many people did go up there. It wasn't the most highly trafficked part of the school, but with so many people ... at one time or another there was the need to just get away. For this purpose, the blond had found a few places. Some of those places had already been 'invaded'. People were in the music room. He couldn't play when others were there, it was that simple. He didn't even bother opening the door when he'd heard the piano. He just moved on to the next spot. And the next. And then he had ended up here. The young regen had never particularly liked school. He certainly liked learning, just... he was very active, and being hyperactive did not help his grades or his teachers patience with him. But that was not a problem anymore. Not because he was cured of anything, or because he was calmer... it was because he had finally graduated. Kinda, sorta. He was still taking classes, and he wanted to go to college... just, he had one place in mind and nothing else would do. He had to get some better grades to get in, so he decided to continue his education here until he could get into the college. Still, he didn't take as many classes as he did before. He just wanted to get into his nice college of environmental science and forestry. He'd spent quite a lot of time around there, as a kid. He'd been in a summer camp run by some of the students, even, and ... he loved it. He loved the people, he loved the campus, and he'd sat in on enough classes - while he was in middle school - to know that while there was the need to sit still for over an hour at a time it was nothing like schooling as he knew it. Which was great, really. The best part was that it was so close to home. He knew that though most his family didn't want him anymore, his little sister still did. She was enough, for him. At least, she had to be. His father was so determined to hate him, to blame him for his older sister's death... He stared out over the grounds for a while before leaning back and sitting down. Only then did he notice a familiar face. "Heya Vic," he greeted his roommate, sprawling out on his back to watch the clouds. One looked like a frog. Huh. Cool. |

Vic was just coming out of a nap that wasn't nearly as long as he was intending. While his spot on the roof was indeed comfy, something about it wasn't very sleep conducive. Maybe it was because he wasn't used to sleeping during the day, or in the sun, or on concrete. That was okay, though. Because although he couldn't sleep, he was still relaxed. This relaxation, and the knowledge that he was breaking a rule caused Vic to start violently when he heard a voice (worse yet, the voice knew his name). But just as suddenly as he spazzed, he calmed again. It was Kel. No worries. "Hey Kel." He responded in a calm manner, as though he hadn't just jumped out of his skin. "Are you skipping class? Shame on you." He continued as though chastizing Kel. He knew he was doing precisely the same thing. The lizart-boy sat up and sat up, stretched lightly, then lay back down and joined his roommate in cloudwatching. He definitely could see Santa. |

"Skipping class, me?" Kel repeated, wide-eyed. Then he laughed. "Not exactly. I should've graduated by now, you know. It's just, I don't think I really got anything out of last year. College would kill me if I didn't do some review and shit." So, though the blonde was taking some remedial classes, he hardly had a full schedule. That was fine with him, only sometimes he lost track of time. Or simply knew that his attention span wasn't up for it that day, and so skipped out to save both himself and the teachers some agitation. The regen didn't have many friends that he really talked to much anymore, so it was pretty cool that he'd happened to run into Vic. His younger roommate didn't walk on eggshells around him, like most of his friends seemed to think was necessary. It was over a year... he was over it now, mostly. And it'd be a lot easier to deal with it if people didn't act like he was going to have another break down at any moment. As it was, he was pretty relaxed, just hanging out and staring at the clouds. While he could give Vic a hard time about skipping class, he really didn't see the point. So he skipped a class. He did well enough in classes, and if he wanted to skip for whatever reason that was his buisness. Kel was feeling unusually lazy; for him to actually not be over-energetic was a rare thing. It was a nice day, it was warm, and he had good company. What else could he want? |
