Jason required no assistance to get over to the other vessel, crossing the distance easily with a single jump. He looked around him to see who what he might do. Jason was prioritizing threats right now. Ricochet was a threat, but really there was no way he was going to get a hold of him while he was zipping around like that. Shina was a threat, and Jason thought he might be able to deal with her if he was able to get the drop on her. He wouldn't want to touch her, but he could avoid that if he... ooh! Jason hadn't bothered to check where his makeshift projectile had landed, but his aim had been better than he had thought. Well, he hadn't really been aiming for right here, but things had worked out well. It had torn through the first floor, but there were many more to go if he wanted the prize at the bottom. The LA born mutant was less than stable on the icy conditions his teammate had created. He hoped that they were helpful to everyone else. The hole his canon had made seemed ever so far away. The hell with this, Jason thought to himself. His fist smashed down into the wood. Neither the wood or the ice was a real obstacle at his now 20 ton strength. Jason didn't want to be going slow on his way down. He had a scepter to capture. It took a few seconds of smashing for him to make a hole big enough for him to go through. The traps were not designed to stop a straight down descent, but Jason hadn't positioned himself right over the scepter room, so he did have to search once he thought he bowels, running into a trip wire that sent canon balls crashing down on him. Luckily, Jason had a thick head, although it hurt like hell now, causing him to utter a loud curse. Yes, the door to the "treasure room" had a knob but he was far too annoyed for that and the door broke into splinters at his entrance. He glanced quickly around the room, not seeing anyone. The idea of an ambush had not really occurred to him as he opened the chest the find it.... empty. "The hell?" he said. |

If there was one thing that the training simulation had taught Kate, it was that she really needed to work on her upper arm strength. After a solid ten minutes of hauling a cannonball to her chosen cannon, only to have it fall straight out again when the entire ship rocked at the first explosion, Kate just threw her hands up in exasperation. Well, there had to be a better place for her. Squinting her eyes, the girl leaned on the rail, peering across the steadily narrowing distance between the pirate ship and the other one. Bobby was doing an awesome job freezing everything, and not for the first time did Kate wish she had his powers. Well, it was pointless to steer their own ship, because there was now no wheel at all. Either she could stay at a distance and attack from afar, like Ari was doing with her glass knives, or she could get in close and do some damage like that. It was pointless damaging their mast, since they couldn't actually sail anywhere with the ice...but maybe... Looking around, Kate spotted one of Bobby's more recent ice slides and made a bee-line for it, flexing her fingers as she went. She mounted it like one would a staircase bannister when sliding down, praying fervently that it would hold her weight and not melt, and let go of the railing that had been holding her back. Down to the surface of the icy water Kate slid, holding back a shriek of glee (pirates didn't shriek of glee, did they?) until she was at the very surface. The ice crackled softly under her boots as she scrambled to her feet -- it reminded the girl of the skating pond at home, though she slipped a fair bit before finding the roughest parts where she could actually stand. Kate stared at the ship, trying to figure out where the treasure room might be. Approximating a spot, Kate slid/stepped over to it and rammed the wood with her shoulder with as much force as possible, ducking away from the falling shrouds that Ricochet had brought down. The ice had steadily crept up the side of the ship, making the wood frail and easily bust. With a crash, Kate fell through, and it shocked her so much that for a moment she just lay there in the splinters, breathing hard. But then she scrambled to her feet, hearing the muffled battle overhead. Well, this wasn't right... No treasure chest at all. But there was a ladder, which -- here Kate screwed her face up thoughtfully -- should lead to it. She had just scrambled over some barrels to get at it when something caught her eye. There was Anne Lee, holding something that looked like... "HEY!" Kate yelped, so surprised that she stumbled over her feet as she made a running dive to the other girl. She fastened her hands on what part of the scepter she could grab, holding tight. "I FOUND IT!" She yelled upwards, pulling hard at Anne Lee's grip. "AND I NEED HELP! YAR!" This last was added on a whim...but hey, she was a pirate, right? |

Kurt was attempting to add to the battle, bamfing around and attempting to throw his enemies off balance when he heard the yell. It was faint, but his eyes focused immediately on where he thought it had come from. A bamf and he was in the treasure room. He took in the situation. Anne Lee currently had hold of the scepter, but Kate was trying mightily to wrest it from her grasp. Kate was not the problem though. Jason had heard his teammate's cry for help and was rushing over. Kurt did not foresee Want keeping hold of it for long and with another bamf he was behind her. A two fingered hand was placed on the top of her head and Kurt closed his eyes to concentrate. Teleporting was like second nature to him, and he only needed to focus for a moment. Take only Want and the scepter. Leave Kate behind. He pictured clearly in his mind himself and Want in the canon room with her holding the scepter and with the smell of burnt matches he was there. A hand extended to reach for the scepter as he commended the girl. "Excellent work," he said, "Good initiative. I believe, Want, that you may end up being the key to winning this little game. For now though I'll carry the scepter with me. I doubt they will be able to keep track of me long enough to wrest it from me." Indeed, with Want on their team how could they lose? Well, Kurt was sure there was a way, but in a game like this she was a marked advantage. After all, she just had to want the scepter and it was always in reach. Still, Kurt wanted to save that for a last resort, trying to make each step as difficult as possible. First they had to get it away from Kurt. Then if they discovered how to do that they were forced to try and get it back after it was teleported away. If each step is of the utmost difficulty perhaps they will run out of time. For now though it was keep away. Kurt formed his plan in his mind. He wouldn't stay in one place for too long, but wouldn't bamf around randomly either. Move around so much that no one can get a fix on you, but not too much so that everyone thinks that you're hiding something. |

Lesly was halfway to t entry ladder to the hold before when Anne Lee came running by. She flashed a bright smile and let a giggle escape her lips. She ran over to chased after her, trying to catch up to help set up a perimeter around the hold. "Hey, Want..." She said, using Anne Lee's codename in this combat situation. "Need some-" She started to say, right when someone ran up behind her, and stole her power...her notebook. Lesly stopped mid-step frozen in shock at someone randomly grabbing the small of her back. Then, the full implications of what had happened crossed her mind. She was powerless. "You little!!" She spun around, flicking out her Bo Staff and charging after the person running away from her. She bolted up the staircase, keeping a bead on that boy, ignoring the rest of the battle brimming over around her. "THAT'S CHEATING!!" She ran out over the slick deck, shortening her pace and digging her toes into the ice, giving her maximum traction. Kel, whom she finally saw as he spun around the mast and began to climb it. "Damn it....damn it...DAMNIT!!" She said, skidding around the mast, and slamming her Bo staff into the ground, while pushing the release button. The staff collapsed into it's portable form, and it was back into her pocket. "Note to self..." She muttered as she started to climb the mast. But the rest of the sentence was lost as Lesly looked up at for her next hand hold and saw a blur rushing up the to some rigging above her. A few passes and it was over, and Ricochet landed with the thud on the deck. "What the-" She said, looking up again, just as the heavy mass of netting started to fall. It started slowly, but then it was plainly obvious where it was headed. Right on top of her. "Oh, CRAP!!" she said, trying to warp her arm into some rigging next her. The sails and the mass network of rigging holding them up slowly fell to the deck, wind resistance holding back only a fraction of the velocity. Lesly wrapped some hanging ropes around her wrist and bear hugged the mast just as the zip code of fabric whooshed down, sucking in air after it. Author clung to the mast, riding out the wave of air. Even though he was fifty feet below her, Lesly shot a glare over to the man responsible for this. She knew that Ricochet was a temporary Paragon for this training. But thoughts of doubt and worry crossed her mind as she glared at him. Then, Les suddenly remember why she was clinging to the mast in the first place. She changed her glare into a wicked smile, turning up towards the fleeing culprit. "I'm gonna KILL you Kelrian!!" She said, resuming her climb up. |

Kimberly screeched as Kurt bamfed in, her nose filled with that smell of brimstone and she knew exactly what was about to happen. She was scooped up by Kurt and zapped around the boat and then dropped onto her back as he bamfed back to the other boat. Between the sea, and Kurt’s dirty little trick Kimberly thought she was going to puke. Suddenly being pulled from one spot, to another was bad enough; but kurt was being very thorough about what he was trying to accomplish. Wrecking Kimberly’s focus and leaving her disoriented and pretty much out of commission. He succeeded in epic ways; first Kimmy got onto her knees and spent about ten minutes puking, then dry heaving when she had nothing left to puke, and as a result, even if she had tried her hardest to hold her grasp of the ice balls; now she definitely would not be able to hold focus on anything. Quite the opposite, she was kinda stirring the water up and around the ship and swishing the boat from side to side. She Stood wobbily, trying to get control back on her power; something she usually had a fair level of control over, but her head was pounding from Kurt’s dirty little trick and she found that the harder she tried to focus, the more violent the Ship’s movements became. So she just leaned against the side of the boat and plopped down to hold her knees to her chest. She watched everyone try their hardest on both boats and smiled to herself, even though she had fallen behind as everyone raced as fast as they could she couldnt help but feel a little proud. Her teammates were concerned for her, even if most of them were too busy to notice yet; and her School-Mates, her peers seemed to all be having fun, something she had not seen everyone do in a while. |

JP JEAN AND WARREN “He’s really getting into this.” She leaned back in her chair, “You know, X-Factor are going on their vacation soon and having Iceman in command of the Junior team while they patrol would give him some more field experience and bump him up to Senior, with Ari and Skin. What do you think?” Warren nodded, his eyes focused on the action in the Danger Room, but most of his attention fixed on what Jean was saying. He’d been taking down some notes on the various members of his team, approving of their tactics, however sneaky Jean proclaimed them to be, they were inventive and made the most of powers that might not always be considered an asset in a combat situation. He did however, raise his eyes to Jean’s as he answered her. “I think that’s a good idea, I’d agree with bumping him to Senior. He’s been with us long enough, but he definitely needs more experience out in the field.” The “battle” continued, Warren watching with a faint smile as Kurt grabbed hold of Kimberly and began teleporting her around the ship to break her concentration on the hundreds of balls of ice she had been forming. That in itself was a slightly risky move as the members of her own team were on Paragon’s ship as well. Even though Exemplar wasn’t his team he still observed with interest what some of the members were up to; Ari working with Bobby to try and take out Ricochet after identifying him and Kurt as the biggest threats which Warren would initially agreed with but some unexpected members of his team had shone through, then there was Evvy with her vines between the ships, the splinters of wood from the mast turning into petals was a nice touch. The bridge she had created though was soon made redundant by Lyn as she sliced into it while Kel was crossing it, depositing the kid straight into the ocean with a little wave. “You’re right. We are sneaky.” Warren commented to Jean with a grin. “But then, so is your team...” He added, watching as Kel clambered out of the water and calmly stole Lesly’s not pad. That was definitely something to keep in mind as with nothing to write on, she was effectively useless. He gave a slight nod towards Ricochet as he threw both his boots, missile like, at Bobby and Ari and then proceeded to bring down the sail on the deck. “Ricochet is going to be a handful. He’s reckless at the expense of himself and his team...” Anne Lee was now making her way below deck to the sceptre room and Warren noted that had been a flaw in his team’s plan, having no one down there to guard the sceptre in the first place. Someone like Avery or Shina down there would have done the job, or even Rogue if she had been around for this, though she would have been one of the heavy hitters and perhaps better suited for repelling the invaders. He had an idea of what Anne Lee was up to, and didn’t have to wait long to find out for sure as Jason started beating his way down into the bowels of the ship and then burst into the treasure room. Warren couldn’t help but laugh softly at the look of puzzlement on the boy’s face as he found no sceptre in the box, the gold ornament now in Anne Lee’s hand. “Nice one.” He murmured, pleasantly surprised that her and Lesly had turned into major players during the session. The time on the simulation was starting to run down however, and soon it would end, so far with Paragon in possession but he didn’t really expect that to stay the same as Anne Lee had no way out of the room and if Jason decided to start searching Warren doubted she would hold on to it. Kate crashed onto the scene and immediately discovered the hiding place of the other young girl. Two on one didn’t really bode very well in favour of Paragon, but his team weren’t done yet as Kurt arrived, teleporting both the sceptre and Anne Lee to another part of the ship. The next part of Kurt’s plan, whatever it might be, wasn’t revealed as the seconds ticked away on the simulation and with a flicker the sea, sky and ruined ships melted away to reveal the cold metal surroundings of the Danger Room once more. The members of the team were left standing at various points around the room, the programme able to compensate for where they had been standing in the simulation and where the floor actually was. Everything but the sceptre, which was still clutched in Kurt’s hand, had faded now, revealing Paragon as the winner. Warren hit the speakers so his voice was broad cast over the room. “Well done everyone. That was a great. Phoenix and I will be down in a minute or two. Talk amongst yourselves until then.” He looked over at Jean, giving her a grin, releasing the button so there conversation was contained only to the control room. “They did well. Shall we leave the individual nitpicks to be addressed privately and just give a group over view?” He questioned. As the struggle between the two groups raged on, she nodded as Kurt really seemed to take command of his team. Her gaze flicked to Ari, watching her fling deadly glass projectiles into the paragon’s sails. However, it was clear that she didn’t feel as comfortable with leadership as Kurt; in the beginning she gave out a few orders but then fell back and didn’t continue to urge them forward. Ari was seeing herself as one of the team rather than its leader. Jean’s lips parted to ask Warren for his impression of her performance but decided against it, it would’ve been a bit awkward. As much as Warren would’ve tried to fair and objective, there would’ve still been that lingering doubt – was he being kind to his former love? – or would he have over-compensated the other way and been more critical? She and Scott hadn’t proposed making guidelines about staff relationships, mostly because they would’ve had to abide by them as well, but it did make things… awkward. “Yeah,” she said, shelving her thoughts, “they did really well; no sense in pouring cold water on them in front of their friends.” She got to her feet. “But your team got lucky, the clock was on their side,” she teased. “After bouncing Kimmy around, he would’ve had limited juice. We would’ve worn him down eventually,” that prediction was debatable but it was all bravado, in any case; every X-Man had a never surrender and damn the torpedoes attitude. Warren rolled his eyes at Jean as he got to his feet, stretching his arms and wings to work out some of the kinks from sitting in one position. “Keep telling yourself that, Red. We still had some options left even if Kurt ran out of energy. Whether they realised or not is another thing.” He moved towards the lift that would take them down to the Danger Room below, waiting until Jean had entered before following her and pressing the button. “Anne Lee and Lesly Cuff were a surprise. I didn’t think they’d be so involved.” Jean gave Warren a derisive snort at his reply, just so didn’t think she was throwing in the towel, but there was no denying that his team had kicked ass; they both had, at one point or another. “Yeah,” she said with a nod. “It was good to see them shine. Maybe this’ll give them the confidence they need to expand. And speaking of confidence,” she said as they descended, “Evvy really surprised me too and Kel. This session had quite a few stellar performances.” She chuckled, putting a hand to stomach, “Like Shina bursting up through the deck like a movie monster and pulling Skin down… and that canon flying through the air.” Her grin was under control by the time they made it to the Danger Room and doors slid open. “I agree. Evvy and Kel were good. Stealing Lesly’s notebook was a good move. Very simple but it disarmed her completely.” He laughed softly at Jean’s mention of Shina’s move and the canon toss, controlling it as the stepped out of the lift, though a trace of a smile remained on his lips as he made his way towards the assembled group of students. He waited for quiet before speaking. “Once more, well done, and extra congratulations to Paragon for keeping the sceptre in their possession. Both teams performed extremely well; it was all very entertaining to watch, especially some of the more creative ways to use powers.” He said with a grin. “Mrs Grey-Summers and I will be contacting you all individually about any issues that arose, but for now you can all go and carry on with your day unless there are any questions or there is anything else to add.” His attention moved to Jean at that point, waiting to see if she wanted to say anything. Jean nodded as he spoke and making eye contact with everyone from both teams; even though they were on separate squads today, they were all X-Men. “You did very well. Excellent work. And team Paragon, that was a well-earned victory. Now, get some rest, you’ve all earned it. Dismissed.” She made her way to Kimmy, who still looked a little green. “How are you doing? Let’s go see if there’s any motion-sickness medicine in the infirmary,” she said, putting a steadying hand on the singer’s back. “Which team do you think you’ll go up against next?” She said, her eyes meeting Warren’s, “Logan’s or Scott’s? Warren nodded in agreement with Jean’s words, giving the assembled group as smile as they were dismissed and began to disperse. “Oh and Faye, if you still have something to discuss with me, wait behind, and we’ll find somewhere quiet to talk.” With that, he moved with Jean as she walked towards Kim, giving the young girl a look of concern before he shook his head. “Not sure. I’m hoping for Scott though.” He said, giving Jean and wink. “How about I meet you down in your office in an hour. I think Faye wanted to talk to me.” [[ Feel free to post closing reactions etc ]] |

Kimmy nodded at Jean and limped to her feet; Kimmy assumed that this must be what a scrambled egg felt like. “Thanks Mrs.Gray.” Kimberly held her stomach, but her pride and confidence were allot more damaged than she was Motion-Sick. It was just like it always was, no matter how hard Kimberly struggled to keep up with her classmates she ended up tripping and falling far behind and loosing sight of the people she fought with. She could never keep up and it wasn't doing much for her confidence. She smiled at Jean, it was nice having the kind Jean around. Whenever Kimberly had classes with her, she felt a little happier; sort of like a mother figure. Kimberly steadied her self and nodded to Jean and wandered off with her out of the Danger Room and in the direction of the Infirmary; not however without sticking her tongue out at Kurt and giving him the meanest look kimberly could come up, which just ended up looking silly. She had fun with the training session for sure, but more and more kimberly was beginning to think this X-Men life just wasn't suited for her. No matter how much she wanted a part of it to help people out with her power, She just didn't think she would ever find herself being able to keep up with everyone in a serious combat situation; and if ShadowX was any indicator, that was likely to happen eventually. |

Bobby turned his head just in time for a boot to hit him square in the head. Flying back into the water, he saw only the back of his eyelids. The next thing that happened was he woke up on the ground of the danger room hearing Warren say the simulation was over. Feeling the area where his head was hit the Iceman sat up and reverted to his flesh form. The injury he sustained during the 'battle' hurt more when he went back to flesh. His ice was strong but apparently the strength of the boot was enough to chip the ice causing the injury to bleed a little when he was flesh and blood. Bobby touched the end of the spot that the boot hit and saw a little bit of blood. It wasn't a serious injury, a band aid and Neosporin was all he needed but he couldn't believe he was taken down by a boot. "Okay..." Bobby said while standing up, "Seriously a boot? I feel lame. Man there's not even a good joke to this... it's just laaame." Just then Jean and Warren came into the Danger Room and his mentor said. “You did very well. Excellent work. And team Paragon, that was a well-earned victory. Now, get some rest, you’ve all earned it. Dismissed.” Bobby scratched the back of his head and mumbled to him self, "Got taken out by a daggone boot..." If anything it was the boot that made Bobby more grumble-y than loosing. After a moment of grumbling to himself he shrugged it off and headed towards Ari. Putting a playful arm around her shoulders the Iceman was just as cool as he was before, "I get the feeling you and Kurt are goin steady but..." He pointed to his minor injury and winked, "Show an Iceman some love?" A wide smile crept on his mouth. And while pointing to the exit of the Danger Room he shouted, "Band-Aid, peroxide, and Neosporin! Stat!" Like a medical doctor out of one of those medical shows. All with a smile on his face. Sure he was taken out by a boot, and sure the pirates lost. But it didn't mean it was going to ruin Bobby Drake's day. |

With the simulation over, where had Avery been all this time you ask? It seemed that in this time around she had even less luck than usual. More pessimistic than usual she had a feeling from the get go that she wouldn’t be much help in this session. Still it had been nice to see that her team could work together as well as any of the other squads. Sure they might not have had all the hard hitters, but her team did not lack brains either, which in some cases faired them better. And where she felt a little discouraged that she hadn’t done well this day, she found herself rather happy that she had a nice and good team that she liked…then again, there were few that Avery Doyal disliked.. Though her biggest fault was her main weakness, damn that Bobby Drake and his ice. She supposed she couldn’t mostly blame him; he was just doing his part for his team. Avery could not think of what on God’s green earth possessed her to have uniform boots with any more than an inch of a heel. It was just ridiculous and unpractical to have such things and after today she was going to change that. One slip on Bobby’s ice was enough for her, but with the way the ship had rolled and bumped she had lost her balance and dignity more than once. First time she had rolled her ankle and the next she had nearly fallen on her face. Uncovered fingers had become numb instantly and when she nearly went over the rail it had been more than a task to keep her grip. The pot of soil that she had requested Lesley to hastily write her out had gone to waist. She could already feel it setting in. This was her second uniform she had made and she believed that it did not rival in quality as the last had. The cold seemed to cut right through her. God what a time to find out that she was having a costume malfunction! Perhaps the others did not notice the cold, but Avery certainly did. It practically put her out right away and she scurried down to the Captain’s mess to quickly warm up and give herself a boost. Unfortunately when she come to pull the chopsticks from her hair, ones that were but cleverly disguised syringes containing chlorophyll agents, they had been damaged the time she gave herself a good crack against the mast. Then, before she knew it, the simulation was over and she was still sitting on the floor with her sleeve rolled up. Though as soon as the danger room went back to normal she was on her feet, already carefully and quietly making an embarrassed exit. Though she stayed long enough to hear Warren’s and Jean’s words she wasn’t long slipping out. But before she did, she gave a rather apologetic smile to Warren. Just from the second glance he would know how disappointed she was in her performance, as well as her reasoning for leaving without of word. After their little Christmas Day moment with the twins and how the cold affected her so, he would know. There would be other times that she could work with the team. Avery would prove useful when the time came. At quick flitter was spared to Bobby and his comment before her nymph like form disappeared, lightest of smiles on her features. |

It was over, faster than he'd expected. The simulation faded away, and there was just the members of Paragon and Exemplar remaining. With absolutely no expression, Kelrian returned Lesly her notebook. The expression on her face... he knew he was in for something. She was rather irritated at him for stealing the notebook. As if it wasn't the most obvious thing, ever. "Good thing we figured that out before an enemy got the chance," the blond teenager said to her in an undertone. She was still young, and hopefully wouldn't have to fight, but it was best that someone relatively harmless had figured out her greatest weakness so she could work it out properly. Faye hadn't done much. The Seer knew it, and much of it was probably due to the distraction... he hoped that Warren wouldn't be too disappointed in him. This was his last DR session and it hadn't looked good for him. He hadn't done anything useful, other than steer the ship. The redhead nodded slightly at Warren's words. He'd wait... he owed that much to his squad leader. So many people left without a word. He wouldn't. Ran sighed, slightly annoyed at himself. He'd tried, but the damn traps had been completely ineffective. Furthermore, no one had even noticed him when they came to take the scepter; he hadn't had a chance to react before it was gone and then immediately retrieved... On the other hand, Lyn had managed to get a bit done. Dunking Kel in the ocean, nice one... Catching her twin's train of thought, Lyndal ducked her head slightly. In their other DR sessions, when they'd still shared a single body, it had always been Randal in the action while she lay back and watched. Figuratively speaking, of course. This time she'd been the one to act, and it had been quite interesting... Evelyn hadn't really thought she'd done that well, past the point when she moved over to the Paragon ship. Holding their ship together had been her first goal, until the others had switched ships, and by the time she'd gotten over as well, ... most of the fighting was over. She'd managed to help Kel over, a bit, but still. She was good offense, and she could have done more. She had to focus a little more on the final goal rather than the intermediate goals. She'd keep that in mind. |

Lesly looked around as the simulation faded back into the steely white of the Danger Room. She stomped her foot in anger, but other then that, she showed no more anger about the situation. It was over, and even in her adrenaline flooded mind, she knew there was nothing more she could do. She stood there in the middle of the room, messaging her wrist as Angel and Phoenix came down from the control room. Lesly turned and watched the other's peoples reactions. She saw Kimberly about twenty meters from her, heaving over and very unsteady on her legs. Apparently the Sea doesn't fair well for the hydro-kinetic. Lesly listened to Angel...ur Mr. Warren as he congratulated them on their performance. However, the Little Author didn't feel like she deserved such praise. She had only rusted over a few cannons, and then was promptly disarmed. Lesly thought she didn't put her best into this, and that she could have done better. Thousands and thousands of "if-only" s flashed though her mind as she redid the scenario again and again. Finally, she shook it off, and then watched as several people left the room, one of the first being Kim, being carted off to the infirmary. Kel had politely handed her notebook back. She snatched it from his hands, but nodded and said, "At least I have you stealing my notebook and not Magneto..." She said quietly. In truth, she had learned a valuable lesson today, even if it was the hard way. She looked over at her friends, Kate and Anne Lee. She sighed, and turned her head down. She and Anne Lee were on the same side, but Kate was "batting" for the other team, so to speak. Les shivered at that one thought, what would she had done if she had actually ran into Kate during the simulation. Could she had hurt her? Would she had hurt her? Lesly shook her head, and flatly ignored the memory of ShadowX and the fight with her sister, where... She stood there...brooding in her thoughts. |

Ari had hoped that the plan with Iceman would take care of Ricochet, but it hadn't worked and suddenly there was a boot jetting toward her head. Ari barely had a chance to react before throwing herself down against the deck and covering her head. The sound of smashing wood behind her wasn't lost on the brunette. "Ricochet, that could've been my head!" she exclaimed, glaring at him from below as he climbed the high ropes. She got to her feet just as the ropes were coming down. The brunette threw her arms up to shield herself automatically, and like Ricochet had hoped, it wound up entangling quite a few people. The ropes were thick and heavy and Ari concentrated on creating a glass dagger of sorts. Unlike the projectiles she'd been shooting before, this dagger was actually sharp. Ari never used sharp glass against her teammates; even against her opponents she tended to shoot smooth boomerangs or blunt shards rather than sharp edged glass. Somebody could get seriously hurt otherwise. Of course there were the exceptions to the rule, but that would have only happened in serious life or death situations. Gripping the 'handle', she sawed through the thick ropes around her until she was freed. And then, before she'd gotten much of a chance to do anything else, the simulation was over. She hesitated, looking around the deck for her teammates, to see if it was possible that they had won. She spotted Kurt with the scepter and she sighed, giving a good-natured roll of her eyes, "Now he's going to brag for a week." She gave a low laugh, a part of her feeling quite proud that it was her guy that had finished off the win for his team. But the other part, the competitive part, was wondering where she'd gone wrong. It wasn't often that she was in the position of leader for the squad, but she'd tried her best. Unfortunately, none of her ideas had really worked. Even using Iceman's abilities to freeze and coat the opposing ship, and make the deck slippery for Ricochet while she threw blunt glass at him had only slowed down Paragon, not stopped them. Maybe she just wasn't cut out for it. Lost in questioning thought, Ari crossed her arms over her chest as Warren and Jean gave out their brief team evaluations. An arm slipped around her shoulders and she didn't need to look to know it was Bobby, the cool temperature permeating her leather jacket a telltale sign. "We lost," she said with a frown, looking up at the Iceman. "You did really good though, Bobby. Gave 'em a challenge." Her eyes flicked to the gash on his head and her pouting face instantly shifted into a look of concern, "Yeesh Bobby--" she murmured, concern slipping over her features as she inspected his head injury. "You're bleeding, but it doesn't look too bad." She slipped her arm around his shoulders, patting his back, an easy smirk slipping over her lips, "I turn around for one second and you get a concussion. And I think Ricochet needs to be reminded about trying to kill us in team sessions." She looked towards the spastic blonde then, a wry grin on her lips, "Ash, how about next time you're pitted against us, you don't try to knock us all unconscious?" Turning her gaze toward Kurt, she smirked, her tone turning flirtatious as she said more quietly, "Good thing we didn't bet, eh? I'd be on the losing end, and you'd so take advantage." Ari gave a suggestive raise of her eyebrows before turning her gaze back toward Iceman, though her eyes flicked toward Kurt's as she grinned and said, "Come on Bobby, I'll be your nurse and fix you up. But no fun costumes or Kurt will make sure your injury is a lot worse." |

Kurt didn't actually notice the shoes flying through the air until he heard one crash into the ship and it didn't take much to figure out where it had been aimed. Kurt knew that this was a competition, and that there would be attacks directed at everyone. He didn't particularly mind, except that this attack had been dangerous. Granted, Ari had been blasting the other ship with glass, but none of it was moving at 500 mph. The worst one could get from her attacks was a broken nose. In movies and video games "KOing" someone was basically shown as making them take an involuntary nap. They woke up with a headache and were none the worse for wear. In real life it could be much more significant than that. It wasn't always, but with the kind of powers they were dealing with it could easily crack her skull. The simulation ended in a moment though, and Kurt was vaguely aware that they had won. He wasn't livid, but he was fairly upset. Ordinarily he would have responded to Bobby's comments with some wit of his own, but he just gave him a frustrated look. Everyone has aspects of their personality that irritated others. It was just the way of life. Bobby's was that he hit on women in front of their boyfriends. Kurt knew he was kidding, but that didn't change the fact that it was rude. Kurt tried not to speak his feelings, to tell the man that he didn't think he was at all a threat so he should stop pretending. It wasn't really an insult to Bobby as much as it was a compliment to Ari. He trusted her, and Kurt never really understood why Bobby did that. To Ari, he gave a slightly embarrassed smile, "I'll have to make sure to get myself injured next time, or maybe become more of a betting man," he replied, then addressed Bobby, "I suppose when I'll just have to blame your audacity on your head injury, Bobby. You'll just have to enjoy your dilution until you recover." Kurt approached Ricochet calmly. He tried not to be mad at the boy. Anger would accomplish nothing. He spoke calmly, which indicated to people who knew him that he wasn't acting entirely natural, "I must say, you were very helpful. I particularly enjoyed having a sheet draped over the ship, since it gave me an advantage. However, the next time you feel impelled to throw something at someone's head, I would suggest that you throw a piece of the holographic environment instead of something you brought with you. The room will keep it's holograms from hurting someone very seriously, but your shoes fly without such protections and you could have really hurt someone," He said. He waited to see if the young man had anything to say before exiting in his typical fashion, bamfing to his room to change out of his uniform. |

“YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” ripped from Ash’s mouth as the lights flickered and dimmed, pine and ocean and rope and everything that made up the outline of boats and piratical endeavours fading out into the boring checkerboard of the Danger Room’s base construct. “In your fucking face!!!” he lauded over the losers, completely forgetting that under normal circumstances they were, in fact, his actual team. Well, he would quote Family Guy at the most inopportune of times, but at least right now it was rather more appropriate than in the middle of a family dinner…or a funeral… which he had been known to do before. Arms thrown into the air, he launched himself into a subsonic victory lap, only stopping when he noticed Ari attempting to get his attention. "Ash, how about next time you're pitted against us, you don't try to knock us all unconscious?" the pretty brunette quipped at the crazy blonde. Hobbling about at high speed looked incredibly amusing, and Ash was not in the least bit bothered that it hurt like a bitch to zip around like a psycho. The Italian rocketed towards Ari, grabbed her hand, threw his best grin at her and responded with “Well I’ll try, mio amore” …and then proceeded to plant a kiss on the hand he was grasping. “No promises!” And he was off again, only to almost slam straight into Nightcrawler. As Kurt approached him, the speedster grinned from ear to ear and practically threw himself on the blue-hued individual, an arm flung carelessly about his temporary squad-mate’s shoulders. Ash barely heard what Kurt was attempting to get through to him, high on the rush of winning…if he could possibly get any higher than he normally was… “ManthatwasAWESOMEwegottadothatagainsometimeOHYEAH!!” he garbled at mach ten, while shoving his Ipod earplugs into awaiting ears and bombing straight out of the door without another word to anyone else…breaking into whatever song kicked in on the media player. Maybe he would go shoot some hoops, or do some skating, or play on the Wii, or phone his sister, or play some pool…or maybe all of them in varying order… |

It couldn't be more obvious then nothing that one of the pirates had decided to go head first after the sceptre. The prize would never be had. Anne Lee held the golden sceptre in her outstretched hands. It was a beautiful and most intricate jeweled piece of art. If they were really on a Royal Navy ship then it meant this priceless artifact would be a gift to the Queen or King of the time. In her hands she held a marvel beyond any of her dreams. She'd seen sceptres upon the Internet but never did she believe she'd get to hold one. Too lost in thought the blonde didn't expect for someone to get the drop on her. Actually, besides summoning the treasure from under the nose of whomever decided to take it, there was no further plan. She could run with it. She could hide. Maybe Tiny Mighty would turn around and realize where and who got the sceptre before him. Or, Kate could fall through the ceiling. A yelp escaped her lips as the other grabbed hold of the sceptre. A tug of war started. There was no way Kate would get it so she held on with dear life. "Let go," Anne Lee said fervently. Maybe Kate would take the sceptre. Possibly it would be dropped. As long as there were seconds that no one touched the spectre then it could be summoned. And then, in a blink of an eye, she found herself in the cannon room with the smell of, of...? "Er, capitaine," Anne Lee addressed Nightcrawler. "Teleporting is awesome and all but a warning would be nice." A smile grew on her face which soon turned into a smirk as she was prised for her initiative. She also couldn't help but love the feeling of teleporting. Alright, it was awkward but so totally cool. The only that she wanted to do was to see someone's reaction if the sceptre 'disappeared'. No sooner did Nightcrwler teleport away with the sceptre did the training session end. The ship melted back into the stark grey of the DR. Of course one shouldn't get a big head over being on the winning team but Anne Lee couldn't help but grin. She jumped once while throwing her arms into the air as she yelled 'woot!' This was wonderful. Her team won. There wasn't even a connection that her actions probably had solidified the win. As they were dismissed Anne Lee ran over to Kate and gave her a hug. "Should I tell Mittens just about got the sceptre or should you, I mean," she ended giggling. Lesly was the next person she hugged. "We won," she cheered. "I'm sorry I couldn't summon you extra papers but I wasn't able to. Next time we'll both be prepared. But, we won!" Without seemingly noticing Lesly's down attitude, Anne Lee skipped out of the Danger Room. Next time her team would win as well. It wasn't what powers you had but how you used them. Yet, winning was awesome, woot! |
