Date: September 1 Time of Day: 5:54 pm Just before Needle and a Thread Anna focused on the jumbled mess of yellow pieces before her, trying to forcibly grind the chaos against her OCD. She took another deep breath, trying to hold off her Singing Shards of Light. She could almost feel them now, sitting just beneath the surface of reality, just waiting for her call. Although they were just psionic vibrations of reality, The Chaos Queen almost could feel their eagerness to help her. Their Song was always around her, just beneath the surface, waiting to be heard. She smiled, willingly holding back the shards just behind the realm of reality. Her nerves wore into her being, nearly screaming in protest of the disorder in front of her. The Act of Seeking Prefection made it real... Finally, when Anna's vision began to throb under the strain, she mentally dropped the gates, and the shards ripped though, reorganizing the piece of spacetime around them, quickly transporting the game pieces little by little over to the blue and red box sitting next to them. Soon, within abut two and a half seconds (according to Anna's immaculate internal clock), All of the twenty-five game pieces settled into the slots on the game board. Anna smiled softly, as she silently thanked the Shards as they retreated back into subspace, waiting for her call. She delicately reached over, and pushed the timer button. "And that is Perfection..." She said quietly to herself, as she had finally won the game without using her hands. She smiled softly, and folded her hand in her Capri slacks. It was a little late in the season for it, but Anna wanted to squeeze in as many days in shorts as she could before digging out her old sweaters for the fall. Anna sat back and looked around the student lounge. A few of the students were sitting trying to do homework, while others chatted idly about schoolwork and boys. Anna was in shock that by the end of the month, she would have been at the Institute almost a year. A lot has happened, both to her and to her world in that time. She had grown to understand herself, and these Shards of light many fold since her start there. Her little sister moving up here in January, while an annoyance sometimes, was one of the best thing that could happen to the young woman growing up a mutant. Anna was a little sad that she didn't get to see her parents this summer as she planned, but she and Lesly stay in constant letter, e-mail, and phone contact with their parents living life back in Idaho. Anna turned back to the game, still sitting there as she left it. She stroked the internal bubble of pride that was raising in her chest. Entropy was learning... But behind that...almost as a bad after taste, was a sudden spike of fear, a rush of some sort. Like... Anna dismissed it. It was probably just some odd power effect. Still, something wasn't quiet right about it, like...the feeling didn't belong to her. She jumped out of her thought when someone said her name. She gasped in surprise, but quickly composed herself. "Oh, Sorry, I didn't see you there..." She said, trying not to think too hard about what had caused her to lose track of her reality. ((OOC: in a few post, maybe one or two, Anna will be reacting to Jacob getting shot, Just a heads up)) |

"Anna. . ." Cal said softly, hoping that she wouldn't interrupt her rudely," You okay?" As Callan stood around aimlessly with her gloved hands buried in the pockets of her torn jeans, she noticed that Anna had looked somewhat distracted by thoughts that, judging by her expression, were rather troubling. Cal wasn't one to spontaneously reach out to people. She wasn't usually the person that made an attempt to include the odd-man in group activities (not that she was a fan of those things herself), and she wasn't very good at communicating her sympathy. She was an empathetic person, but that wasn't always obvious to people that couldn't read her thoughts. But Anna was a kid by Callan's standards, and one that she could see a bit of herself in. It was hard for her to resist a subtle attempt at kindness toward the girl. Cal knew that some people just didn't like airing their dirty laundry or waving their emotions around to advertise them- she was one of those people. However, she was beginning to realize that there was still a desire deep down to find someone that she felt comfortable doing that with. She just couldn't find anyone. It wasn't that she was opposed to being open under all circumstances, it was simply that she was picky about when it was appropriate and safe. Warren had given her a good glimpse into the possibilities that came along with opening up a bit. Perhaps she could lend an ear to someone like Anna. Cal knew that she could have used someone good to talk to when she was younger (though her standards were a bit ridiculous when the time came to do some serious talking). With that in mind, she hoped to put herself out there a bit more with people. Most of the students at Xavier's were great people, harmless people. She'd been at the school long enough now. . . experimenting a bit with showing sympathy couldn't hurt, right? |

Anna blushed as Callan walked up behind her. her stomach turned slightly as it was plainly obvious that she was caught off guard. Anna was known for always being punctual, prepared, poised. So to been seen like this, with her emotions laid bare for the world, It was discerning for her. She smiled softly, like she did to everyone here, always soft, always slow. Anna never did anything rash or fast, it didn't suit her. Still, Anna showed a bit of emotions though her brittle facade. And it was just enough to catch Callan's attention. "Hello Callan." She said, motioning the seat across from her. However, she chose not the answer the question at hand. It was too obvious that she wasn't alright. Why bother restating the obvious? "Something's...I don't know..." Anna started off, trying to dig up that odd emotional clash that happened in her. "have you ever had one of thos moments where you though you were suppose to feel one thing: Like you get kissed by someone your suppose to feel love, or you complete a task, your suppose to feel pride. But instead..you-" She paused for a second, trying to decide what to say next. "You feel, something...off tangent, something you never thought could be applicable to that situation." She said, holding her hands in front of her, and moving one of to the side to show the shift of emotions. Still, even as she was saying this, she knew that what she was saying was odd, even for her. Emotions shouldn't be thought out; they should just happen. But just letting something happen, without careful thought and consideration was something Entropy couldn't have. |

Cal took a slightly hesitant seat across from Anna and did her best to appear casual. Anna, from what Callan had gathered through her observations, was not a very expressive young woman. Something had to be bothering her. "Have you ever had one of those moments where you though you were suppose to feel one thing: Like you get kissed by someone you're suppose to feel love, or you complete a task, you're suppose to feel pride. But instead..you-you feel, something...off tangent, something you never thought could be applicable to that situation." Immediately, Callan though "yes". Like you wouldn't believe. On numerous occasions she had found herself feeling something completely different from what she thought she should be feeling. Especially recently with her family life going crazy, and even in the past with her life in Boston post-Xavier's. Her logic was always clashing with her emotions. She still hadn't figured out how to keep a system of checks and balances between the two. "Yeah," she replied after taking a moment to think, " More than's probably normal, I guess." Her reply was brief, somewhat cryptic, but Callan wasn't about to spill her life story. Anna was the one that needed to vent a bit, not Cal. She'd done too much venting for her liking lately. Until she could sort out the mess that had made, she didn't want to really let loose too much nonsense. At least she was starting to think that she could sympathize with the girl in front of her. . . maybe even help her out a bit. Perhaps her reply would make her seem like a decent person to talk to. She felt like she understood what Anna was getting to, and she expressed that rather clearly even though she didn't get into specifics. |

Anna turned up the corner of her mouth slightly. She understood that Callan was going out of her way for her. She really appreciated it, but still, it was awkward for the Entropist to share her emotions like this. But of course, Anna was never one to really feel things, She was more to think things though. "Yeah...I don't know...maybe this is all part of growing up: New and more Complicated Emotions." She smiled, as she looked at her handiwork of the Prefection game. She tried to step back from her emotions, trying to recreate the situation, and then the emotions of it. But she couldn't find that one emotion again. It was like she couldn't find that emotion within herself. She remembers feeling it, but can't recreate it Then, Suddenly, it happened. Anna felt it first, as a sudden strong wave of terror flashing over her, in this calm and quiet library. It smashed into her chest like a physical blow, rippling out over her soul as her mind struggled with fight and flight. She tumble ungracefully out of her chair. The shockwaves echoed across her body, ringing in her ears, leaving an hollow scream of a young man. The waves peaked, interfered with each other and concentrated on Anna's left leg, leaving a searing pain in her thigh. Anna gasped in shock as all of these emotions and sensations washed over her. She laid on the floor as tears exploded from her eyes, both at the pain and at the sudden and blatant loss of control. Still, even in all of this, a sentence formed behind her lips, and spilled out before she had a chance to analyze it. "He's in trouble!!" She panted, as the terror flash slowly faded out, only to be replaced by her own sense of fear. |

Callan was shocked, to say the least, when Anna's face suddenly showed an intense fear before she completely lost it. Her falling from her chair was enough to make Cal jump out of her own and turn some heads. This wasn't normal. This wasn't okay. Cal moved to touch her, to snap her out of this, but she decided against it. She didn't want to do any harm. Weird things that happened to mutants, however harmless they seemed at times, often had the potential to be dangerous. Anna appeared to be in pain, but what could Callan possibly do to help? She didn't know why she would be in pain, and she didn't want to make it worse. As Callan moved to prevent one of the students from approaching Anna, the frightened girl exclaimed,"He's in trouble!!" Luckily Cal didn't have to reconsider before Anna's episode died down as it came to a close somewhat quickly. However, her words were somewhat troubling. Kneeling beside Anna, Cal placed her left hand on the floor and leaned closer to her so she could speak quietly and still be heard. "Who, Anna? Who's in trouble?" she asked as calmly as she could, not hinting at the fact that she had been startled. However, if one looked closely enough they could see her trembling slightly. She was afraid that she would only cause more trouble now. This was a great confidence booster. Cal tried to be kind, to help someone, and THIS happened. Still, she knew that if someone was really in trouble, she needed to figure out what was going on. Maybe there was something she could do to make sure that they got out of that trouble unharmed. After all, she had come back to the mansion to help people. When it finally appeared to be safe, Cal reached out and touched Anna's arm lightly. It was a simply gesture, but it had very good intentions. Cal just wanted to comfort the girl as much as she could. Realizing that there were still students standing around, staring with wide eyes, Cal addressed them, "It's okay guys. Move along, will ya?" Her tone wasn't snappy or rude, but rather casual. However, her facial expression showed her uncertainty. Luckily, no one questioned her. They left the room with a collection of hushed whispers, leaving Cal alone with Anna to deal with whatever needed to be handled. |

Anna Gasped in shock, as her body settled, but her spirit rived within. There was something beyond that simple wave of unwarranted pain. It shuddered her soul, her mental stability that kept her calm and collective. It went beyond the simple fact that this came out of no where. Something was very wrong in the universe. She sucked a breath out of the air. trying to steady herself as she sat up. Her need for control exploded in her mind, those book shelves were SOO not right, she needed to fix them...now. But Anna knew otherwise, that this was neither the time nor the place for that kind of behavior. Slowly, she peeled her eyes of the apparent chaos and back onto Cal's face. "I..." She said, trying to recall exactly what she had said. "I don't know...He's in trouble...He needs help...He's-" She paused, looking down at her leg. It still pulsed and burned like a bruise was forming. She reached down and poked her thigh were the "bruise" was forming, but there was nothing there. Soon the echo of the pain was wisped away by Anna's own sense of fear. "He's been shot..." She looked Callan, straight on, a stern look in her fire-blue eyes. Normally, Anna was afraid of letting herself out. Fear of being hurt, Fear of hurting others, Fear of failing had lead the young woman to choice a more conservative path, always cautious about what she did. But now, her eye's burned with the full force of her will, her resolve. She needed to do this...and it needed to be done now. "Jacob needs help..." She said, not knowing how she thought of that name, but it rang true in her. "Come on." She said, grabbing Callan's hand and pulling her along the entryway. "He can't be far..." |

Anna wasn't making a whole lot of sense, but given the circumstances that seemed pretty normal. Callan wasn't going to pressure her for answers, but she really did want to make sense of the situation as fast as possible if someone needed help. The girl before her had to know something more, something that would let them help whomever was in trouble. "He's been shot..." Well that was a bit of trouble, but who had been shot? Where? When? Callan's expression turned from one of great worry to one of determination, though she fortunately wasn't looking upon the troubled Anna with anger in her eyes. It was just very clear that she was concerned. Anna seemed to share the same feeling. Although she was initially very confused, she seemed to be making sense of the situation gradually. "Jacob needs help..." "Jacob? Who's-" Before she could finish her sentence, Anna had grabbed her hand and begun leading her somewhere. . . toward this Jacob, apparently. Callan wasn't sure what to think, but if Anna knew where someone was that could use her help, Cal was more than willing to follow her to that person. She just hoped whatever had happened, whatever injury he managed to obtain by getting shot, it wasn't beyond help. ((If you want to move into the other thread with Mr. Jacob Cuff and friends, now's probably the time, I suppose. ;) )) |

Stone Touch / Super Strength
|
Place in timeline: no more than 10mins after Jayson's leave of Needle and a Thread On her way back to the entrance way Jayson had to once again usher some students away. It was human nature to flock where danger happened or is happing like dodos. Not caring about asserting herself as a X-men, regardless of her junior status, Jayson made sure those she passed wouldn't near the entrance hall. However, it seemed not everyone took the same route to get to the front door. It would have been easier if they did. "Alright, everyone, this area needs to be cleaned so please leave," Jayson said politely yet forceful enough to get her point across. Most of them grumbled and left. They would find out later what had happened either by an announcement or rumors. Some of the students hadn't heeded her. Well, she wasn't exactly authority they had to follow even if she was X-men or older than they were. "You heard me, out," Jayson said again but this time she picked up one of them and set him next to the nearest exit way. "Anyone else wished to be carried from the area?" A couple of the girls ran off giggling while the guys blinked before following them. Children. How'd the heck did the boy get into the mansion? He'd appeared not even moments after she'd entered the mansion. If he had come through the front door then she would have seen him. Jayson kneeled next to the main pool of blood. The crimson liquid had gotten everywhere. Cautiously she lifted up the bath towel which she used for the beach. It was soaked through with red. Being so saturated, blood monotonously dripped for one of its corners. In thought Jayson began to ask herself aloud. "The best way to clean up the blood is-" Her question remained unfinished as her attention shifted to someone coming down the stairs. "What the?" Unaware, blood still soaked her gloves just as it did with the towel in her hand. |

Anna rushed though the school, not really caring or know who or where she was going to. She's was running on instinct, but it was a new one. It was that over whelming sense of purpose...the need to help someone in danger. She didn't need to think...she didn't need to analyze. She just needed to follow the maternal instinct forged after thousands of years of mothers protecting their children. Poor Static was trialing behind her. Even then, Anna had enough of a thought to regret formally meeting her like this. But that was as far as the thought went, her entire being was being driven by this. But what was it...she was acting on thoughts, feelings. She had no hard evidence for it. No numbers, no facts. Yet here Anna Cuff, someone praised for calculating her every move, was running on instinct. She rounded the corner at the top of the grand stair case. "Cal, you really don't have to come if you don't want to." She said, charging down the staircase, yet still carefully counting the steps as she went. Twenty-Two steps a landing of three steps and another Twenty-Two steps when she hit the bottom. That's when she saw the blood in the entryway. Her mind flashed and zeroed in on the violation to her space. Anna wasn't that bad around blood, but she was still overly cautious about it. "There's..." She said, her blue-gray eyes widening, "so much of it." She looked around the room, trying to find any other damage, but everything else was in line. "Jayson!" She said, running over to her squad-mate, "Jayson, What's going? What happened?" Her voice wasn't panicky, it was simply determined. |

"Cal, you really don't have to come if you don't want to." "I'm coming," she stated bluntly as she hurried to keep up with Anna. It was only about a second after she spoke when she saw the blood that coated the entry way. Anna had said that this Jacob guy had been shot, but Cal didn't know where, and she was still rather shocked by the sight. It wasn't that often that blood was spilled within the school, despite the often dangerous activities that the X-Men participated in. It was always well-protected. What the hell happened here? But before Callan was able to question Jayson who had been attempting to clean up, Anna tossed out a few of her own questions. Even though it was quite obvious that Anna had her own special talents just like all of the other students at Xaviers, Cal found it impossible not to be puzzled by her knowledge of and reaction to what had apparently happened here. She didn't seem to know who Jacob was, how or why any of this was happening, and yet she was affected by it so intensely. . . Was this normal for her? Did she get overwhelmed by such strange emotions frequently, or was this a one-time thing? And why this guy Jacob? Were they connected somehow? Settling beside Anna, Cal simply scanned the room with her eyes trying to gather as much as she could from the scene while listening for Jayson's explanation. |
