Theresa sat cross legged on her bed staring at the cell phone that sat in the middle of her bed. Tom had gotten it for her a couple years earlier but ever since they'd been caught and she had had been sent to live with her real father, she hadn't called him. At first it had been because he was in jail while she'd been let go but even after he'd escaped she hadn't called him. Even though she doubted that the X-Men monitored their students that closely, Theresa often felt like if she tried to call Tom that the X-Men would be alerted and then not only would she get in trouble but then the X-Men would be able to find Tom. Even though she knew he was technically a bad guy, Theresa was not willing to turn him in to the group. She knew all it would take was a phone call from her and Tom would undoubtedly meet her wherever she wanted, but she couldn't betray his trust like that.

Sighing softly Theresa grabbed the cell phone then leaned over and dropped it into the drawer of her nightstand before sitting up. For the hundredth time since arriving at Xavier's she'd tried to call the man who had raised her and for the hundredth time she had failed. Part of her wondered what Tom thought about the fact that she hadn't really contacted him in over a year and while part of her said he wouldn't be angry with her, another part couldn't help thinking that he might be. He'd raised her for about sixteen years and now here she was practically avoiding him. She knew that she was doing it protect him but she couldn't help wondering if he thought she was just trying to avoid him.

Falling back on her bed, Theresa stretched her legs out before crossing them at the ankles then she slipped her hands under her head before lacing her fingers together. As her mind started to wander, Theresa found herself thinking about Tom and the life they'd had before they were captured. For most of her life she had no clue to his illegal dealings but soon after she turned fifteen he began to include her in his plots. She had never really liked what they did but how could she tell him no? Especially considering she'd thought he was her father.

With her mind taking her down a depressing road Theresa quickly sat up then moved to the edge of the bed and let her feet hang over the side. She didn't want to let her mind think about Tom because then she'd just find herself hurting about not having seen him in so long. Biting her lip she took a deep breath then looked over at her dresser where there was a picture of her biological father. Oh sure, she had to give him credit because he was trying to be a father to her but at the same time he hadn't been her father. He hadn't been there for her first word or her first step. She knew it was mostly Tom's fault since he'd kept her a secret from Sean but she couldn't help blaming Sean partially as well. If he'd actually listened to Tom and hadn't just flipped before flying off then maybe he would have known about Theresa after her mother's death.

Slowly getting to her feet, Theresa adjusted the black stretch yoga pants she had on as well as the deep emerald green spaghetti strapped tank top she wore. Dropping to her knees Theresa pulled her black sandals out from under her bed then got to her feet and slipped them on. She wanted to get away and talk to somebody but she wasn't sure of who she could talk to. She had began making friends with the students and had slowly began talking to faculty but she still wondered how many of them judged her for what she had done with Tom. Everybody seemed nice and nobody ever brought it up, but it always lurked in the back of Theresa's mind that perhaps some of the students and staff were keeping a close eye on her because of her past.

After walking around the school grounds for about forty minutes, Theresa began to head back to her dorm but as she did she paused for a second. If she went back to her dorm then she would just begin to get depressed again as she thought about Tom. Theresa knew she had to talk to somebody and after a few more seconds she began making her way towards the staff rooms.

Of everybody in the school Theresa had the best bonds with her team. They had made her feel welcome almost instantly and even though she was closer to some then others, she still considered them to be her closest friends at the school. The other students were great and Theresa knew if she wanted to then she could seek one of them out but right then the person she wanted to talk to was Rahne. She was a rank above the students but she never made them feel inferior and although she did get along with the other junior X-Men in her group, Theresa just felt more of a connection with Rahne. Maybe it was because her stepmother and Theresa's father were connected. Maybe not. Theresa wasn't sure why she preferred to talk to Rahne but she did.

When Theresa found herself outside of Rahne's room she wondered if she'd been too hasty in her decision. She didn't even know if Rahne was in her dorm or not. Even if she was, how was Theresa supposed to be sure that Rahne was even in the mood to talk.

Knowing she could change her mind but not really wanting to, Theresa brought her hand up then knocked firmly on the door. Hopefully Rahne was in or Theresa was going to have to find something else to do with her time.

"Aye, hold on a tick," Rahne called out from the partially closed door. Feet shuffled for a moment and then the door pulled the rest of the way open. Her bed was freshly made, with the sheets pulled back to expose both sides of the sheets. In her right hand, Rahne held a lint roller coated in reddish-brown hairs.

Her class periods were significantly shorter than most of her coworkers since her students were so much younger than the others that they simply hadn't the patience nor the attention span to stay in class for any longer than the four hours a day she gave them, which in her opinion was time enough to do plenty.

"So what can I do f'r ye, Terry?" Rahne asked as she walked over to a small garbage tin by the bathroom door and tore off the layer of tape on the lint roller that was covered in hair and tossed it in. She walked back over to her bed and began rolling it over the sheets once more, picking up more hairs.

She paused and looked up at the girl, a look of concern on her face. Her nose twitched twice and she abruptly stopped what she was doing and grabbed the wheeled chair from her desk and rolled it out to the middle of the floor and gestured for Teresa to sit. She sat herself down at the end of her bed and turned the chair to face her.

"Seems like somethin's weighin' heavy on yuir mind. I c'n practically hear yuir heartbeat poundin' out yuir chest. Have a seat. Tell me 'bout what's troublin' ye."

Theresa wasn't sure if she was relieved or not when she heard Rahne's voice from the other side of the door. The biggest part of her wanted to talk but there was still a small part inside of her that wanted to keep her problems to herself. For nearly sixteen years it had been just her and Tom, and when something bothered her she would talk to him about it or she'd just keep it to herself. The thought that she was going to talk to somebody else was a tad bit strange to her. Sure she'd talked to Rahne before, but she'd never talked about anything quite this serious with anybody in X-Men before. In fact, Theresa never even brought up Tom's name at the institute because she never knew who was okay with her past crimes or who still needed time to adjust to that part of her personality. Sure people who took the time to get to know her knew that she just wasn't a criminal type but there were still those who were wary around her because of it.

Theresa watched Rahne after she opened the door and watched as the older girl moved towards her bed with a lint roller. As she spotted some of the reddish fur all over the older girls bed, Theresa found herself feeling glad that her mutation didn't alter her physical appearance the way Rahne's did. Cleaning up all that fur had to be a pain for Rahne and Theresa knew she'd be having to clean on a daily basis, probably twice a day if she had fur all over her room.

"Wow. I forget you can hear that." Theresa said as she tried to calm down the pounding of her heart. Slowly making her way to the center of the room, Theresa closed the door gently behind her before she reached the chair and lowered herself into it. She watched Rahne who was now seated on the edge of her bed and she found herself getting nervous again. She wasn't sure how she felt about all the undivided attention but she'd come to talk to Rahne so she might as well start talking.

"I just...." Cutting herself off Theresa tried to decide the best way to say what she wanted to say. Theresa didn't want Rahne to think that she wasn't thankful to the X-Men because she was. Theresa was finally able to be herself around them and she didn't worry about being judged because of her mutation like she had when she'd been living among normal humans. Looking out the window for a few seconds Theresa collected her thoughts before she looked at Rahne and tried again.

"I was just wondering." Theresa said before pausing for a few seconds then continuing. "How do you think Sean and the other X-Men would react if I tried to get in contact with my fath....with Tom?"

It had been over a year since she'd arrived at the instituted and sure Theresa got along with her real father now but she still had a hard time calling him father and she had a hard time not calling Tom her father. She was sure it probably hurt Sean to know that his daughter saw another man as father but she'd spent sixteen years of her life with Tom as her father and he'd been a good father. How could she just forget him because she was now with her real father?

"I just may have th' sharpest ears around here, not t' brag 'r nothin'," she said with a small smile and listened carefully as Teresa spoke.

"An' Tom is yuir uncle. 'Black Tom' Cassidy... Who's an arms dealer an' a Brotherhood operative, right?" Rahne knew a small bit about the man from what little his brother Sean, Teresa's father, had told her. What she knew she didn't like.

"I'm thinkin' we'd want ye t' be careful about it. Ye may be able t' trust Tom, but ye definitely cannae trust the people he keeps company with. 'Tis a delicate situation, Terry. But I think the only thing we'd be concerned about is yuir safety."

She leaned forward and placed her right hand on the girl's shoulder, and squeezed lightly. She didn't know anything about how Tom treated Teresa, and decided she shouldn't guess or try to pass judgement. He may have been a rotten bastard, or he may have been parent of the decade. One never really can tell.

"Personally, I think it's a good idea," she continued, lifting her hand off the girl's shoulder. "I think ye deserve some answers at least, I think ye deserve t' know some things. I dinnae think ye should be meetin' him alone, though. Or in any place that is nae very open 'r public. But aye, ye should definitely try t' talk to him."

Theresa found herself inwardly cringing when Rahne called Tom her uncle. She supposed that was probably the way she should see him. After all, he was her father's cousin and Rahne's words were basically a verbal slap. It was like she was being reminded for the hundredth time that Tom was not her father like she'd grown up believing. Yes he was family but he was not her father. Her father lived at the institute with her and was doing his best to try and be a father to her. Admittedly she probably didn't make it to easy, especially at the beginning, but Sean was trying to be a father to her and she just wasn't being as appreciative as she should by continuing to think of Tom as her father.

"I don't think he'd bring along any of his friends. He wouldn't put me in danger like that. I mean he does care about me. He did tell the police that the crimes weren't my fault when we were captured." Theresa said still trying to defend the man despite all the things he'd done in his past that most people would probably think she shouldn't forgive him for. She knew people often wondered how she could forgive him when he didn't tell her or her father the truth about each other and her response was always the same. Maybe if her father hadn't gone crazy at the news of her mother's death, then of course Tom would have told him. Plus Tom wouldn't have that limp that he now permanently had thanks to Sean.

"What do you think Sean would say?" Theresa asked after she got Rahne's opinion. Well at least she thought Theresa should meet Tom and she wasn't telling her to stay away. Theresa had planned on meeting him where there were people but she wasn't too sure about out in the open like Rahne suggested. Theresa didn't feel like having hundreds of people around to possibly listen in on their conversation. She was thinking maybe a small restaurant or someplace where there were still people but that would also be fairly private.

"Do you think he'd be upset?" Theresa asked wondering if Sean would be angry that she was trying to make contact with Tom again. Thinking about her team and wondering if she'd have to let their leader know, Theresa asked: "What about Scott? Do I need to tell him if I decide to go visit Tom?"

"I dunno, Terry. I've never met th' man, but... knowing who he works with, the selfish, evil, murderous bastards he's aligned himself with, I have a hard time trusting that he'd have yuir safety at heart. But like I said, I never met th' man, so I cannae judge." She nodded her head slowly, breathing in deeply through her nose. She had serious misgivings about a man who would lie to a girl he supposedly loved for her entire life. It didn't sit well with her at all. She had always seen love as honest, pure. Love based on a lie was just... wrong.

"Yuir father... Sean... Sean's a good man, Terry. If'n he'd have known... if'n he had any idea, I know he would have dropped everythin' he was doin' an' made ye his sole priority. But as far as what he'd think about ye contactin' Tom, he'd be concerned f'r yuir safety. He'd probably want t' be there t' make sure that nothin' happened t' ye. That nobody hurt ye. Whether 'r not it was warranted. An' knowin' him, I know nothin'd change his mind otherwise." Rahne folded her arms at her chest, certain that Teresa wouldn't be particularly pleased with that. She believed it was the truth, though. A man like Sean just finding out that he had a daughter? He'd be doing everything in his power to make up for time lost. She believed that wholeheartedly.

"Come t' think of it, I'd want t' be there, too. Not payin' attention t' yuir private conversation 'r anythin', but... there, on th' side, t' make sure that if anythin' happens, we're ready t' stop it. Absolutely ye should talk t' Mister Summers about it. He's nae unreasonable."

"Great. Can I out fly Sean?" Theresa thought when Rahne said that Sean would undoubtedly want to join her in her visit to Tom. Theresa was fairly certain that the tension in the air would make a conversation with Tom extremely difficult and she knew things would be strained as it was. She was living with the X-Men, she was living with her biological father, neither of them was exactly high on Tom's friendship list and Theresa could already see her visit with Tom falling apart before it had even started. There was also the fact that she had no way of knowing whether or not Tom would show up if he felt that her father would be there.

"You want to be there too?" Theresa asked slightly taken aback but Rahne's announcement of wanting to be there when she met Tom. Although she wasn't sure why she was surprised since Rahne did seem to care about all the students safety of the school. She should have expected Rahne to want to join Theresa and Sean on the trip to see Tom. Of course Rahne wouldn't trust him to not try something. She had no reason to trust him especially considering the stories she'd heard about him over the years.

"If I tell Scott he won't let me go." Theresa said automatically when Rahne said she should tell Scott. Of all the X-Men, Scott seemed to be the most rigid in Theresa's mind and she knew that either he'd forbid Theresa from going to see Tom or he'd send out more then just Sean and Rahne to keep an eye on Theresa which Theresa knew would guarantee that Tom wouldn't show up.

"Scott's just......the man is stubborn. That's the only way I can think of to say it. He's not going to let any student, especially one of the students on his team, go off to meet a Brotherhood member. And if he does he'll send an army with me. That man takes blowing things out of proportion to a whole new level. I just want to see my fath....I want to see Tom." Theresa said managing to catch herself again before she said father. She knew she was rambling and she knew she was whining but she was getting desperate. Rahne had basically confirmed all of Theresa's fears. She wouldn't be able to go alone to see Tom. Sean would want to go putting him and Tom within striking distance of each other. Theresa would have to face her leader and her leader probably intimidated her more then any other X-Men with the exception of Wolverine. Theresa knew she should be thankful she didn't have to face the Canadian because if she did then odds were good she'd never get to see Tom again.

"Aye. If'n there are any surprises waitin' t' be pulled, I'll be able t' hear 'r smell 'em before they're pulled. I'd like t' think I'm a fairly good candidate f'r it. Just t' make sure it's safe." She leaned forward, clasping her hands together between her knees. The girl clearly thought that a meeting with Black Tom would be entirely safe. And that may even be true, but it most likely wasn't.

"He may try t' get ye t' join his side. And some o' his cohorts... may be a little less willing t' try an' just talk ye into it, if'n yuir catchin' m' drift. Or they may just see an easy ransom 'r God knows what. These 're people without morals, without a sense of decency in their hearts. Monsters who'll do anythin' t' get what they want, even if it means killin' innocent civilians 'r pickin' a fight with Sentinels. That's why we'd be worried f'r yuir safety, nae so much f'r what Tom'll do t' ye, but what his friends 'd do t' ye."

Of course, there was concern over what Tom would do, but she wasn't going to say that to the girl, who still clearly cared about the man, despite the fact that he lied to her for so long.

"An' Mister Summers does nae overreact. He's got the safety of so many people as his direct responsibility. There are so many out there who are out t' hurt an' kill us, whether it's because we're mutants or it's because we don't wish t' conquer humans 'r what have ye. There are alot of bad people out there and Mister Summers does a fine job o' protectin' all of us from them. If'n he lets ye go with a few of us t' tail ye, it's only t' make sure that yuir safe, nae t' intrude upon yuir privacy."

Theresa didn't say anything as Rahne told her that she would be able to hear or smell trouble before it showed up. True as that might be, Theresa had no doubt in her mind that Tom would never let his friends hurt her. Her heart told her that Tom would undoubtedly fight to protect her from his friends just like he'd protected her from the police. He had never forced her to do anything she didn't want to do, even the crimes she'd committed had been of her own free will. Sure she'd done them for him but she had never been forced by him to do it

"I'll talk to them about it but they won't try to stop me from talking to him right? They won't try and keep me locked up in the school if I tell them I want to go see Tom?" Theresa asked as she leaned back in her seat and stared at Rahne. Theresa knew neither men would be happy about her decision but she didn't know either one well enough to know if they'd flat out deny her the chance to go see Tom. Rahne did.

"I know nobody in this school trusts him, but I do. I know he won't do anything to hurt me and I want to see him. I don't want to have to go around behind anybodies back to see him." Theresa said although she didn't finish her statement. She didn't want to go behind anybodies back to see Tom, but if she had to then she would. She'd already been away from him for over a year and she didn't want him to think that she could forget him so easily or that she didn't care about him at all. They may have been on different sides now but she did still care about him and she did still remember everything he'd done for her while she was growing up.

Slowly getting to her feet Theresa looked at Rhane before asking: "Do you know where Sean or Scott are? If I've got to talk to them I might as well get it over with sooner rather then later. I may lose my nerve to talk to them later.

"Stop ye? Of course not. This is nae some prison-like boardin' school ye know. Yuir free t' make yuir own choices, t' speak with whoever ye wish t' speak to, ye just have t' know th' risks."

Rahne took a deep breath and let it out slowly, her upper lip puffing out as she did.
"Ye have t' see it from our perspective here - the man lied t' ye yuir whole life, either by omission 'r outright fabrication. We cannae know that he's got yuir best interests in mind, but we do know f'r a fact that he's cavortin' around with some of th' most powerful, dangerous murderers in th' whole world."

She's sure that this isnt going to go over well, but she's got to say it. She's got to let her know the dangers.

"Even if Tom would protect ye from his friends, there's no tellin' that he can. Ye have t' know th' risks that yuir takin' here. These are dangerous, crazy people who's think nothin' o' hurtin' ye... Or worse. Whether it's t' try an' hurt yuir da or t' hurt th' school 'r just because they feel like it..."

The worry was evident on her face, genuine. It may hurt the girl to hear that Rahne thinks that Tom is not trustworthy, but she couldn't hold that back, didn't feel it right.

"I dinnae know where Mister Summers or yuir da are. Summers may be in his office, an' yuir da, no clue where he is. D' ye have his phone number?"

"No I don't. All he told me when I arrived was 'If you need me I'm always here.' It might have helped if he gave me a way to contact him." Theresa said in slight annoyance since she wanted to talk to her father but had no clue how to. She wished the man had given her a cell number or something so she could talk to him. What was she supposed to do? Run around the mansion yelling out for him because she wanted to talk to him? She supposed he didn't think about a cell phone since they were on the same property, then again neither had she but she wasn't the parent. Maybe in the excitement of having finally found her he had forgotten that tiny detail and she'd never actively tried to seek him out so she had never thought about how to do it.

"I suppose I get to just explore the mansion until I find him. I'll try his room first then I'll just start to wander around. I'll talk to Scott last because if I get Sean's permission to go then there really isn't any way he can keep me from going. For some reason I think he'd be harder to convince to let me go then Sean would be. Like you said, he's got to worry about everybody's safety." Theres said after she'd thought about who to ask first. She knew if she asked Cyclops first he'd more then likely tell her no. He would be worried about Tom and his friends trying to get at the school, Sean would hopefully only be focused on what they might try and do to Theresa. If she could convince him that she'd be safe then she had a pretty good chance of getting permission to go.

"Any clues on what he likes to do to relax so I know where to start looking for him?" Theresa asked Rahne as she tried to think of where she might possibly be able to find her father.

"He's probably scared, Terry. I c'n only imagine how it must feel t' meet yuir long-lost daughter ye never knew ye had by a woman ye loved who died long ago. I'd imagine the two o' ye have a long road ahead, but... I know it'll be worth it," Rahne said with a small smile before hopping to her feet and brushing off the seat of her pants quickly.

"I said I dinnae know where he is, not that I dinnae know how t' find 'im." she winked her eye quickly and with a sharp gasp and a visible shudder running down her spine, began to affect the change to Wolfsbane.

Reddish brown fur sprouted up along her skin as her fingernails hardened and lengthened, her feet repositioned slightly, and a Wolf's tail grew from her spine. She truly did enjoy this, letting her inner self out to greet the world - the feeling of the change was close to euphoric, the rush of endorphins tingling in her brain.

"Now," she said with a grin that showed her recently elongated fangs, her voice slightly deeper and scratchier, part of the way between human speech and canine growls, "Let's go find yuir da, right? 'Tis nowhere in th' whole town he c'n hide from me now."

"I don't think long even begins to describe it." Theresa thought as she smiled slightly at Rahne when she commented on the road ahead. Theresa knew that the only way things could work out with her and Sean was if she gave him more of a chance. She however knew that the only way she'd give him more of a chance was if he and the other X-Men gave Tom more of a chance. Tom wasn't right in keeping her a secret but she still felt that Sean should have given Tom a chance to explain things before he flew off the handle at the news of her mother. Theresa didn't want to pick sides in a feud that obviously older then she was, but she certainly felt caught in the middle of it.

Theresa laughed slightly when Rahne changed into Wolfsbane and suggested that they go find Sean. Although she knew Rhane was probably the best person to help her look for her father as far as her team was concerned, she had still forgotten about it during their talk. She'd been too busy trying to defend Tom that she hadn't even considered the option of Rahne being able to find him a lot faster then she could.

"You know I forgot you could do that. I should start learning to think about how others can help me rather then trying to think of how to do things the hard way." Theresa said with a smile before she began to walk out of the room alongside Rahne. "I guess if anybody can find Sean in this place it would be you. Lead the way and hopefully he's on the grounds so that we don't have to go looking for him too far away."

"Well, I'm sure ye'll nae forget from here on out," she glanced back to Theresa with a small smile as she stepped out of the room and took a deep sniff of the air. She closed her eyes, continuing to take quick breaths in through her nose, filtering the various scents of the place in and out.

Bunch of sweaty teens fresh off the basketball court... no... excessive perfume, no... someone with particularly bad flatulence... NO no... a young couple up to hanky panky in the boyfriend's dorm room... no no NO (and now she felt partially like a voyeur)... the distinct scent of Kurt Wagner's teleports, no... a few drops of beer left in a discarded can that likely belonged to Logan, no...

There was a lot to sort through, but she could do that much. She was very good at differentiating scents, singling particular ones out, and following them to the absolute end of the trail. The trouble, of course, was finding them in the first place.

"I think... I think I might have him..." she announced, and cautiously began following what she thought was the trail. Was it? That's the particular fabric of his pants... yes, that must have been it.

She followed with a bit more confidence, certain that she had a scent.
