Time: 4 am in the morning
Date: 9th November

The room seemed to be quite large and dark with a spot of light in the middle of it.Jubilee was standing there, handcuffed to a wooden chair. The bulky silhouette of a tall man was standing before her but all she could see was his glowing red eyes and the top of his police uniform when he slightly leaned for a few seconds over her. Assault, destroying private property, attempted murder, those are serious charges you’re facing young lady’ said the man with a deep powerful voice which echoed into her heart like the bells of an old church. Beads of sweat were running down her face and her head felt like had been pricked by thousands of needles. It’s not my fault, I didn’t do all those things she screamed in an effort to maintain her consciousness. I was clear to her though that something else was behind all that interrogation routine. He was a mutant, her mind was being scrutinized and he wasn’t very subtle about it. Suddenly the image disappeared and now she was standing on the edge of a precipice. Casting a bird’s eye view over the entire scenery she opened her arms and felt into the endless abyss gaping behind her.

Jubilee woke up screaming. She was now in bed leaning back on her forearms. With her body soaked in sweat she threw a quick glance at the window as she was trying to catch her breath. The sun was just making its appearance that day and the rays percolated through the curtains spreading a diffused light into the room. Fully awoken, she got up, went to open the window and, leaning over its frame, she took a deep breath in the cold morning air.

It has been a while since Jubilee returned from her three months escapade. She didn’t even remember clearly why she had left in the first place. It could have been the fact that she felt betrayed by the two people who supposed to protect her, or maybe it was the old grudge against authority she had always held within, or she just needed to remind herself what was that she believed in and fought for. Anyway,' the time spent away helped her to put that terrible ShadowX event behind and she also felt something she thought she would never feel again….homesick. As they say Home is where your heart is; and those people were the closest thing to a family that she ever had since her parents died.

On the other hand, nightmares were not a common thing in her life and the fact that lately she would wake up in the middle of the night trembling annoyed her.

The room was getting chilly. Except for a few classes nothing important was on the agenda that day. But Jubilee was the kind of person who would get involved in all kind of stuff whether she liked it or not.
'One of these days I just have to talk to somebody otherwise it'll be the looney house for me' she muttered as she carefully closed the window and headed for the shower.

Noriko was sleeping soundly in the bed across the room. That was until the loud scream of her roommate reverberated into her head. Her eyes quickly opened her eyes, screaming herself as a sharp sting throbbed upon them from opening too fast. It was way too early or this to be happening, and on a Sunday,

Noriko was prone to be some sort of upset as she sat up straight to look at her roommate. "Not even four? Dou omoi mashiteiruka!?" She yelled yelled out at Jubilee as she opened the window.

"It's Sunday, and at 4am. What the hell are you screaming for?" She reiterated and slammed herself back down to her bed and flung her covers over her face, but the damage to her sleep had already been done.

Grunts of despair bellowed from her bed as she tried to force herself back to sleep, but the attempts were futile. She sighed deeply, and from beneath her bed spread she rose up, scooting back until she was propped upright against the wall at the head of her bed.

"At least you closed the window." She said, her eyes squinting halfway shut as she rotated herself to sit on the edge of the bed. There was really no sense in arguing the fact now, but she was still upset. 4am, way too early for her on a Sunday.

Sluggishly, Noriko stood up, making her way to the vanity that sat by the window. With a quick glance though, her spirit was somewhat changed. A nice day with the oncoming sunlight glowing up the blue sky. This sight took her mind off the abrupt awakening, and a soft smile grew on her face as she sat in front of the mirror

As usual, her hair was a mess, more so since she had just woken up. A couple of static sparks jumping from thread to thread as she tried to get it into a somewhat manageable set. But as usual, her hair just would not cooperate. It would have to wait until after she had woken up enough to care. With one final run of her hand through the mess upon her head, she stood up and looked back to her clock.

"4:10... Why does it feel like I've been up for so much longer." She asked herself, making her way back over to her bed, only to flop upon her pillow and groan as she longed to fall back asleep, but to no avail. She just ended up laying there, awaiting the return of Jubilee so at least she'd have someone to converse with.

Jubilee heard her room-mate complaints and she felt bad for waking the poor girl up at that time in the morning. Heck, she hadn’t planned to wake up either. Y'eah I know, sorry for that, I’ll be back in a minute’ she said in a hurry before she exited closing the door behind.

She was about to re-enter the room when suddenly an idea on a ‘peace offer’ for Noriko passed through her mind and made her stop at the door. I wonder…. she began her thought trying to guess how long a quick escapade to the kitchen and back will take her. She quickly examined her clothes; just the bath gown. Although following rules wasn’t exactly the most obvious feature of her character, she had to admit that for someone to walk around improperly dressed was inexcusable. Sure, the Institute was not the state’s penitentiary, but still flashing around one’s pajamas, or less, each morning at the cafeteria was too much even for her.

But this was an emergency and judging by the fact that it was 4 am on a Sunday morning, as Noriko so clearly stated it, she prayed she wouldn’t run into anybody. Giggling at the various pictures she imagined of students and staff wearing pajamas that matched their personality, Jubilee headed for the kitchen and ten minutes later she hurried back to the room holding a cup of hot chocolate into each hand. ‘Not much of a peace offer but that will have to do’ she uttered pressing her elbow against the door handle and then slamming it behind with her left foot.

‘Are you awake?’ she asked the obvious as she made her way towards Noriko’s desk and put the cup on top of it. She then climbed into her bed and sat in the middle with her legs crossed underneath. ‘I take in that you’re not an early riser’ she began after sipping the hot liquid she was holding.

Noriko grunted from beneath her covers. "Yeah... I'm awake. No thanks to you." Of course she was going to be a bit snappy and bitter about the situation. The scent from the steaming chocolate drinks tantalized her though. She was always pretty fond of sweets, even if she didn't express it often. Sitting up, she rubbed her eyes, trying to get the whole half asleep thing out of her. Slowly it was working, but not fast enough.

Her body now shifted to the edge of the bed, legs crossed, the subtle blue hues of her gown folded perfectly over her body. Noriko reached for the steaming cup that sat on her desk. Taking it a deep breath of the chocolates vapor, followed by a small sip. She was being extremely careful. If there was one thing that she hated, it was the feeling of a burnt tongue from hot cocoa.

Another sip of her cocoa followed by the soft gulp of the liquid as she cooed over the warmth it brought to her body. Just the short time that Jubilee had had the window open had taken it's toll on the overall temperature of the room, and between her sips, the chattering sound of a gentle shiver filled the room.

"So... if I can ask, why did you wake up so early? You sounded like a banshee out of hell." She asked, taking a look to the window. the sun had begun to rise slowly over the open fields that made up the horizon line, making for a soft glow of gradient blues and reds that shimmered their rays slowly into the room.
