Date: January 16 Time: 8:15 pm The so-called Huntsmen were having their meeting in the opulent mansion in northern New York. It was a large country club with a prestigious reputation. Amelia somehow felt that this secret society of theirs was a bit more exclusive than even the country club proved to be. These were men’s men. The Acolyte imagined them sitting around in a darkened room with stuffed animal heads swilling whisky. They’d arranged for several mutants to be captured and then hunted them through the forest and meadows near their mansion. It was a sick thing that proved to Amelia that humans were capable of evils and atrocities that would pale anything mutants could achieve. These crimes wouldn’t go unpunished. Amelia had assembled a team of the Brotherhood. Many of them were relatively new and their devotion to the cause had yet to be seen by the red head. This mission would be a good test of their resolve and gauge of their dedication to mutant supremacy. Dazzler had been recruited by Amelia, herself, but hadn’t been very active in the Brotherhood. She still held onto her underground music career and had apparently performed well during the train heist several months ago. Rogue was the Southern belle that Amelia had yet to interact with. Gambit and Razorback had both been on assignments with her and apparently, Rogue was a good team player. Aurora was new to the group. She was a speedster that appeared to be dedicated. Mimic was also a neophyte. His power was tricky but he hadn’t been tested yet. Tonight would certainly be a good test. Amelia teleported them across the state and then emerged on the grounds of the club. She controlled their collective gas cloud and entered the mansion. They swirled through the ventilation system and Amelia eventually found the room where the Huntsmen were meeting. They were seated around long oak table. They smiled and laughed. One of them had apparently made a joke about the mutant that they had murdered. They were a despicable group and Amelia hated them. She wanted to stand above them and make them beg for mercy that would not come. The vapor exited the vent in a room adjacent to the hunter’s meeting. Amelia focused on their solid forms. The gas collected and shaped the Brothers from the air. Amelia turned to her team. “These men kidnapped and hunted our mutant brethren like dogs. Those youngsters had their future snuffed out so these braggarts could feel like a man. Each of them will have their justice tonight. Tonight, we will not be Justice’s scales but her sword,” Amelia said. “These men must not live to harm another mutant.” |

When Aurora was asked if she felt up to the mission, she was at first hesitant, unsure about going on a mission with people she had not even met. But when Amelia had explained what the mission was about… what the people had done to mutants… she became enraged, and did not ask to go, but rather demanded it. She was respectful of course, but these Hunters violated the Balance of Justice on a whole new level. They did not hunt for hatred… vengeance… or even prejudice… they hunted for fun. Sports hunters were wrong in their own way… but to hunt mutants? Hunting people, even for a justified reason was still wrong on many levels. But to hunt someone, someone who lives and breathes and dreams, for nothing more than pleasure was disgusting. They did not deserve to draw breath. But they had found out too late about these Hunters, and already they had captured and killed yet another poor mutant who did not even have a real power, just a physical mutation that made her look different than others. Normally, she would have been apprehensive about using Amelia’s form of transportation, much preferring her flight to reach where she wanted to go, but she was able to focus on her growing hatred towards the Hunters and dismiss her apprehension. Aside that, Amelia seemed like she was leading this operation, so Aurora was showing her the respect of not objecting to relatively anything she said. Honestly, as long as the woman allowed Aurora to deal with at least one of the Hunters, she would follow Amelia to the gates of Hell just to toss their sorry carcass into its burning depths. Although they could not do anything for their mutant brothers and sisters who had fallen victim to their sick game, they could avenge them… and soon they would. As Amelia said, Justice would be served, and Aurora only regretted that they could not deal something more severe. The Hunters had picked mutants who could not do much of anything offensively or defensively, those who did not have real powers. Soon they would find out that their guns and techniques did not work so well when they faced those who could actually fight back. The Hunters were about to find out how low on the food chain they really were. Turning to Amelia, Aurora looked at their esteemed leader, understanding her words. It would not be the first time she took a life, nor the last, for the sake of Justice and Balance. “So…” she said, pausing and keeping her voice slightly low, “what’s our plan of attack? I assume you won’t let us just go in there and beat the shit out of them without having a strategy in which to do so.” Her tone was respectful, but the anticipation in her voice, as well as the rage, was easy to decipher. She was ready and willing, but she was not as sure about everyone else. She did not know them, nor their level of dedication to the cause. |

Rogue generally considered herself to be a fairly optimistic person, or at least more optimistic than some of the people she lived with, but there were times when even she seriously doubted human-kind's (or even mutant kind, for that matter) ability live without violence. And when she learned what the newest mission she was about to be sent on consisted of, she once again felt that doubt. Why would anyone be cruel enough to hunt down mutants like animals for sport? She knew that the world was filled with prejudices towards her kind, but seriously this was more than a little on the extreme side. She wasn't all that familiar with any of the other Brotherhood members who had been chosen for this mission, but she knew who most of them were by name at least. She was just as appalled by this whole mutant hunting club business as everyone else, but she was going to try and chose the least violent approach to the whole thing if it was at possible. They had taken a...unique, though probably quite subtle form of transportation and were currently awaiting their next instructions from Amelia, since she seemed to have been chosen as their leader. Rogue glanced over at Aurora, who was the first to speak since they had landed. “Ah doubt we'd come all th'way out here without any plan of action.” There was some humor in her words, which may bother some of the other members of the team, but she personally found it a lot easier to get through these missions if she tried not to think about them too seriously. |

Animals were hunted for thousands of year, for food, protection and clothing, all noble things for an animal to die for. But killing for enjoyment was not something to be done to a weaker being. Even when Mimic had been forced to take a life, he had done it to opponents that were of an equal stature or standing to him and never was it done with a smile on his face. No, these hunters shouldn't be allowed to continue their rampage of mindless violence. Not beacuse it was fellow mutants being killed nor the fact that it was senseless violence. To Calvin, life went a certain way and if that was disrupted, well then the obstruction must be removed as effienctly as possible. And if that meant killing a few humans who had it coming, then well, who was he to complain? However, the real bonus in coming on the mission was not the vengance on the sapes itself, although that was a good cause, it was the vast potential of the powers emmenating from the women around him. For Mimic, the whole Brotherhood was like a mutation buffet, one that he was trying to sample before taking a plateful. All four of the women exuded an intoxicating mix of powers, each with its own pro's and cons. While Amelia's was certainly the most versitile and unique, Dazzlers could be potentially extremely destructive if she utilised it in the right way. Meanwhile Aurora's blend of mutations was the obvious choice yet Rogue's was a mystery. What would happen if he touched her after copying her powers? Would it cancel the other out, or would they both be affected. And what if he touched others while using it, what then would happen? Would his mimicing become unlimited? However, despite the lure of such power, Calvin knew that it was more of a curse. A lifetime without touching someone would be lonely and he didn't want to have to suffer that. So for now, Calvin would avoid copying the southern belles power and focus on the three other american mutants. Firstly, the glamorous Amelia. Whilst the teleportation had been uncomforatble at best, he was still standing and it was useful, so by focusing on the feeling that his body recieved from her x-gene, his body started to take shape inside the gene. It felt so slight that if he wasn't thinking on it, he wouldn't know it was happening at all. "Lets make this quick, I reckon. don't give them a chance to get away" |

It was always a pleasure doing deeds for the Brotherhood. Sure Dazzler may not have been one of the more productive members of the group, but she was always willing to help promote homo superior. It was also particularly nice when Amelia, an acolyte, asked her to be part the mission. Dazzler had worked with her a few times in the past as well as accompanied her to a social event or two, and each time there was never a dull moment. The team Amelia had assembled was really nothing special: Aurora, Rogue, Mimic, and herself. Apparently this mission was either a mission to get your feet wet or to make you feel like you’re “part of the group.” It really wasn’t too surprising that Dazzler had been shuffled into the latter. She had been paying a lot of attention to her music lately, but that was neither here nor there. Dazz listened as the two women spoke about forming a plan. Mimic chimed in desiring to move hard and fast. Hard and fast; the way she liked it. “That’s the best way to do it,” she added. “Hit them hard and quick so they won’t know up from down.” |

Quickly, the Brotherhood members asked the strategy in hushed tones. Aurora wondered if there was even a plan and Rogue informed that there had to be one, otherwise they wouldn’t be there. Mimic and Dazzler had the right idea, though, and were pretty enthusiastic to get the ordeal over with. “Like Dazzler said, we hit them hard and fast, a blitzkrieg. They may be unarmed in the lounge but we should be careful, nonetheless,” Amelia Voght instructed. “They pay their debts with their lives. Leave only one alive. I have plans for him.” Amelia was angry and she knew that she may regret her actions later. Tonight was serving a greater purpose for the cause. These new warriors were going to be tested and the Huntsmen would learn of justice. “Be ready. We begin this now,” Amelia said as she charged forward and gripped the handle to the door. The red head shoved the doors open and transformed one of the men in a finely crafted leather chair into vapor. He reappeared near the ceiling above one of his comrades, plummeting into the other man’s lap. “Your days of hunting mutants are over,” she proclaimed as she punched a man seated nearby in the face as he rose quickly. A man across the room rolled over backwards in his chair. He hit the floor and pulled the chair down to give himself cover. He popped back up with a large gun in his hand. Amelia dissolved into the air just as he pulled the trigger, sending a beam of electricity across the room. The beam struck the wall leaving an ugly black burn and the smell of burned wood. “We’ve been expecting you, mutants,” the man called from the cover of his chair. “We killed those brats to bait the real trophies in!” As the man spoke, the others in the room pulled out large energy rifles as well. This plan has gone downhill fast, Amelia thought. |

Aurora listened to everyone, Rogue’s assurances that there was a plan in place, and then Mimic’s and Dazzler’s own ideas for a plan of action. Honestly, none of their words made a real difference to Aurora, as they weren’t leading the operation. As soon as Amelia’s hushed voice was heard though, she immediately looked at the woman, taking her words and figuring them out for her own course of action. Hitting someone ‘hard and fast’ just so happened to be her specialty, so this plan suited her style perfectly. Unsheathing the knife she had gained from her trial to join the Brotherhood, she eyed the blade for a moment, knowing that this knife was ready to take another life. If things went the way the seemed to be going, this knife would likely see much blood unless it was taken from her. As the doors shoved open, she paused for a moment, not having a clear way out of their hiding place and into the fight with Amelia standing in the way. As she paused she saw her use her power in some way as the first strike, but then quickly transform herself into her black dust shape and disperse as a beam of electricity from some energy weapon pierced where she had been not a moment before. Now that the way was clear, she was on the move, bolting out of the room with a speed she had not shown to anyone in the Brotherhood before. Tiny flares seemed to leave a trail of where she was, and in the time it took for someone to blink, she was in the large room, and flanking their right side, grabbing up one of the men hiding with a weapon trained on the doorway. Aurora was stooped low, and paused right next to the first victim of her judgement. He turned all too slow, trying to bring his weapon to face his new threat. With all the speed and strength she could muster, Aurora brought the blade up into the side of the man, the knife slicing through his clothing, skin, and muscle alike. The force as well as the piercing movement allowed not only the blade to go through his skin, but also the hilt and her hand as well, the force great enough for her fist to puncture through as well. The man screamed out as his life poured from the wound, the damage very fatal. Still, the man, knowing he would not live the next minute, tried again to bring the weapon towards her, but was quickly cut short as she twisted and jabbed further inside the man, causing even more damage to the man internally as the blood flowed down Aurora’s arm. She knew that she had posed a good distraction, as several beams of electricity landed on the wall behind her, one even striking the dying Hunter. Her teammates had the opening they needed, now they needed to exploit it. |

Hard and fast? All right she could work with that. It certainly wasn't the most subtle way of accomplishing things, but at least this way their...ordeal could be over rather quickly. Rogue was glad that for this mission she was part of a larger team than the one for the last mission she had been sent on. That one had taken a surprising, and somewhat scary turn, but fortunately they had managed to accomplish their goal in the end...more or less. She was just about as ready as she could be, though she wasn't particularly fond of the idea of killing all but one of the huntsmen. They were horrible people and probably weren't likely to be able to redeem themselves in any way, but she wasn't going to be a killer if she could help it. She could knock them out commission though and quite effectively at that, which was what she was planning on doing. A moment later Amelia pulled open the heavy wooden lounge door and attacked. She was quickly followed by Aurora who also chose to attack, because really what else were any of them going to do. Rogue figured she should probably move in soon after the other two women. She needed to get in close to someone for her own attack, so remaining outside wasn't really going to accomplish anything. As soon as her form appeared in the doorway one of the huntsmen saw her and moved in to attack her. She quickly pulled off one of her gloves and once he was close enough she was able to get her hand on a section of exposed skin, "And that, sugah is what you get for tryin' t'attack a lady." She commented with a small smirk as he fell to the ground. |

With the four mutants ready to attack the humans with an opening of the door, Calvin stood on edge. The whole moment was pumped for the promise of a fight, ones that the mutant had missed since he had joined the Brotherhood. A few weeks cooped up in a small area with so many powers but none that he had gained yet. But Mimic was looking for the best, the prime of the crop. And so far Amelia was looking like that cherry at the top. So once that door slid open and the humans pulled out several weapons, a slim smile spread across Calvins stubbled face. This was going to be good. Raising his hand as he saw two men raise their guns at him, Mimic flicked his wrists, trying out the new power. The two men turned into mist and vanished towards the back of the room where Calvin tried to put them down again. Unfortunatly, without the experience of Ms Voght had, the results were a lot less effective and a good deal more fatal. The two hunters became solid again, however Mimic had made one mistake. He hadn't judged the distance exactly and had slighty overestimated. So where the old, traditionally crafted drinks cabinet had been placed, two grown men were teleported into it, their bodies instantly sliced apart as the wood and glass became intermingled with them. Calvin had to look away at the grim sight that he had caused, scarlet liquid dripping from the doors, looking more like a macabre art display than what it had been. Oh well, one less opponen to to deal with, so it wasn't all bad for them. Some might have said it was a blessing in gory disguise. Of course that person would have to have a strong stomach to say that and then walk away from that sight. Calvin himself found himself disgusted but he didn't have time to feel ill as a third hunter tried to shoot at him before he could turn. By instinct, his body reacted and the american mutant found himself standing behind the shooter, a singe mark from the blast the only proof that he had been there a minute ago. Calvin had no idea what power he had used to do that feat, whether it was Amelia or Aurora's, but he knew it had saved him from a very painful hit. Unlike some of the more bloodthirsty members of the Brotherhood, Calvin had no real belief in causing pain for enjoyment. So that was why with two hands placed at either side of the shooters head, Calvin snuffed out his misreable hedonistic life with one short, simple, snap. Sometimes that was all it took. |

Blitzkrieg; just the word Dazzler wanted to hear. She had been hoping this would turn out to be a no mercy battle. After all, these men killed innocent mutants for sport, and they had to pay the price. The price just happened to be death. “They pay their debts with their lives,” Amelia said reinforcing Dazzler’s belief. “Leave only one alive. I have plans for him. Be ready. We begin this now.” In a swift motion Amelia opened the door and charged in. The fierce battle was underway. One by one the small group filed into the club and engaged the enemies ready to exact their revenge. The men yelled that it was all bait for the bigger game and were prepared by being armed with beam rifles. It didn’t matter to Dazzler. It just made her all the more determined to not wind up as one of their prizes to be mounted on the wall. The image of her taxidermy head, bug-eyed and mouth gaped open, flashed into her head briefly. “You’re gonna die, mother fuckers!!” Dazzler yelled. Dazzler threw up her hand and quickly created a shield that blocked a small volley of beams. She returned fire with a barrage of light beams that perforated the men and gave them more holes than Swiss cheese. “Come on,” Dazzler mocked, “is that the best you big game hunters can do?” Suddenly a door opened toward the back and in spewed a handful more of men taking aim and firing quickly. Taking Dazzler by surprise she only managed to get a shield up in front of her and Mimic, and even then the shield wasn’t at full strength. The beams were able to pass through and Dazzler took a shot her hip and her shoulder. Thankfully it was nothing serious; she had suffered worse from a curling iron burn. “Argh! Son of bitch,” she cursed, “there’s more coming from the back!” |

The team that Amelia had pieced together was working adequately. The huntsmen hadn’t been taken by surprise like she had hoped. In fact they had planned on the mutants coming there eventually. The Brotherhood had adapted enough. Aurora used her lightning quick speed to disarm one of the men and Rogue siphoned off a man’s life force and skills with her powers. She probably had all of his knowledge of the club and his skills with the weapon he brandished. The Acolyte hoped that they would have taken her words of encouragement to heart and been a bit more vicious. Her orders had been to leave only one survivor after all. Mimic had copied the red head’s powers nice and used them in a creative fashion. The young man materialized his enemies into a glass cabinet where they were cut to ribbons. The flashy rocker, Dazzler, speared men with beams of solid light. She deflected beams with shields. When the Huntsmen’s reinforcements poured through a side door, her shields failed to block two of the blasts however. The blonde was pierced in the arm and hip. “Dazzler! Everyone hold together! Don’t let their numbers overwhelm you!” Amelia called. “They’ve injured your teammate! Are you going to let them get away with that?” She turned her fury on two of the men that had entered. In an instant they vanished from the room. The molecules of their forms shot through the air and punctured through the astral plane. They ripped through once more approximately a mile above the country club. Their bodies would reform and return to the earth in a matter of seconds at terminal velocity. A man rushed Amelia from the side and she elbowed him in the solar plexus. The air rushed out of him and he wheezed pitifully. The Acolyte was distracted and grabbed from behind around the chest. She burst free into her vapor state and reappeared across the room. She turned her attention to a man who was taking careful aim at Rogue. Taking a page from Mimic’s playbook, the red head reduced a crystal ashtray to a vapor and sent it flying into the man’s lungs. There she rematerialized it, destroying any of the tissue within. He clutched his chest and tried to cry out but no noise escaped his lips. |

It was beginning to become even more apparent that the Huntsmen had been planning for the Brotherhood's arrival all along and their reinforcements kept coming. It seemed that no matter how many of the Huntsmen that the team of mutants took out even more showed up. The Huntsmen had already hurt Dazzler pretty bad, which made the rest of the team a bit more violent and Amelia was encouraging them to use more deadly tactics. One of the Huntsmen moved to take aim at Rogue, but before she could do anything to stop him Amelia had taken him out of the fight. "Ah could have dealt with him on my own..." Rogue muttered under her breath, but before she could find out if anyone had actually heard her comment (not that it mattered if they did or didn't) another one of the huntsmen moved in to attack her. Rogue ducked down into a fighting crouch, her long coat billowing out behind her and prepared to attack, just as the man took a shot at her. Even though she had crouched down the bullet still just barely avoided hitting her. She thanked whatever being that was giving her good luck and then kicked out one of her legs. This allowed her to sweep out the legs from underneath the man and knock him on the ground. She didn't want to chance the guy getting up again, so she placed her still bare hand against his face and took away enough of his energy to make him not want to get up anytime soon. She then moved towards one of the areas where more of her team mates could use her help. |

Leaving one alive did not look like it would be a problem… they seemed like they were coming out of the woodwork… much like cockroaches, actually, and just as frail. It was interesting though… as they continued to slaughter them like sheep, they just kept charging, determined that they would be the one who would take down a mutant and put their head on a plaque. It was saddening that mankind could have people like this… people that were so cruel… but then again, that was why she existed… why fate had brought her into this world… Aurora was here to take out the trash. In another bright display of her powers, she dashed through a firing line, weaving through them as though they were standing still, the only evidence of her passing was the bright trail of light from her power and the crimson spray of three huntsmen’s throats being torn open with her knife. That was what they got for being in a straight line though. The fourth person she did not slash though, but instead clotheslined him, using her enhanced durability to keep herself from harm by hitting him, and actually forcing him to rise off the ground and re-enter the room he had originally entered. Dashing into the room, she closed on the dazed hunter, and smashed him three good times in the head with her right fist, knocking him unconscious. She was sure that Amelia would take note that she had completed the secondary objective, and then took off again, zipping around the room, slashing any huntsmen that dared try to make an effort to attack them, and drawing fire. If they tried to hit her, they wouldn’t be trying to shoot the much slower teammates… and that meant that her friends, dare she say it, could deal with them accordingly. Still, this room was not her most ideal area to fight… Aurora’s realm of expertise was the sky… and there really was not much of that in this little room. She had to ensure that she personally knocked one of them unconscious simply because she did not know if Rogue’s power was killing them or not… she didn’t have time to check. One energy bolt grazed her, and although the physical damage was reduced because of her mutation, she was sent off balance, and skidded, tripping and tumbling into a couch which promptly was overturned as she struggled to stop herself. Several bolts of the hunter’s energy weapons hit the couch, lighting it on fire. Dazed for a moment, Aurora accidently stood up, revealing herself from cover, holding her head with one hand and stumbling slightly. Her head was bleeding a little, evidence that she had struck the floor when she tumbled, and one of the huntsmen took aim at her, putting her right in the weapon’s sights. I apologize for the time it took for me to post, I failed to realize that it was my turn. Now, if you all would be so kind, save Aurora? |

When the doors opened and even more hunters came sprawling out, Calvins mind immediatly thought of a trap. Not that they couldn't get out of it but there was still some wrong information coming through from Amelia. They were supposed to be attacking, not defending. Now the only way to complete the mission with any staisifaction would be to fight until every last one of the hunters was little more than a small bloodstain on the carpet. And Mimic was going to enjoy making every last one of them suffer. After all, there was no fun in killing them if they weren't going to suffer some retribution for their crimes. Not that Calvin really cared what they had done, but for the sake of the team, he needed to seem that he did. Thankfully Dazzler covered him with a shield before he got hit by the beams but paid a painful price in doing so. Calvin wouldn't let that go in vain. Teleporting behind several of the men, Calvin effortlessly snapped their necks with the skill and precision of some one who had much experience. But when the gunfire grew more intense, Calvin started to rely on the power he was abosrbing from the others. All of the sounds that he heard were being absorbed into his body, fueling him like a battery. While the copying mutant knew that he could never match the original powers of those that he copied, he knew a way to surpass it. For if he found two similiar powers and used them at the same time, their combined strength could often match or become stronger than the one that he "borrowed". Suddenly out of the corner of his eye, he saw the fast moving Aurora had actually suffered a hit. While normally Calvin wouldn't of helped her, he knew that one good turn deserved another and it was time to repay Dazzlers debt. Bursting forth in high speed, Rankin ran in front of Aurora, his hand raised towards the mans face. A bright beam of high intensity light shone out of his hand, a large laser if it were. Not enough to go through the mans head, but enough to do significant damage to him. If he was lucky, sugery could save his eye sight. Shame he wouldn't live long enough to find out as Calvins quick punch under the chin was followed by a satsifiyng snap as his neck broke and the body fell, a grin on Calvins face as he went down. "Come on girl, can't lose from that" he said before he zipped away to continue fighting. |

After Amelia relayed that a member of the tam had been injured, which was Dazzler, it seemed to work everyone into a frenzy. Dazzler didn't think the wounds were that severe, but it strengthened and intensified their rage. To correct them would be stupid, and make them more predictable. Acting on rage made someone unpredictable. These hunters were prepared for their coming, and more than likely studied their quarry. Besides, it not like the brotherhood is known to come rushing to their allies aid. Dazzler saw Aurora dash across the room taking out as many men as she could that dared to stay in her path; not that they really were quick enough to get out of her way that is. She was looking rather fierce until she took a hit and was knocked into a couch. Mimic had her back though and snapped the a few men's necks like twigs. He appeared to be adjusting well to using everyone's powers. His movements were less jagged and when he used their powers it was less erratic. He was still a bit rough around the edges, but better than she originally thought. Sparing just a moment Dazzler scanned the room and notice that no more men were pouring into the room. It was a good sign and that meant the battle was sure to turn in their favor quickly. Suddenly a beam flew across her face just inches from her nose. She could feel the heat from it as it passed by and embedded itself in a stuffed bobcat standing on a nearby stand. She turned as saw the guy take cover around a doorframe. Dazzler's arms began to glow from her fingertips to her elbows. The light slowly broadened and flattened and then extended and narrowed to a point at her fingertips forming two giant blades. With a quick thrust one of the blades dashed out and speared through the sheetrock and the hunters chest. Dazzler saw his arm go limp and drop the gun in death. Another man aimed at her and she did the same to him only she had him pinned to the wall. Not having time to revel in the moment she let the blades fade, dropping both men to the floor, and returned to the battle at hand. |
