Reality Warping

Warm tears rolled down Wanda’s cheeks as she watched Pietro’s stiff-legged departure and the only thing echoed in her mind was that… “He… he did not say… goodbye.” She blinked salty tears out of the corner of her eyes as he raced away, leaving her behind. Mere moments ago, she had been so happy and she had thought of being strong and clever, but where Pietro was concerned, even slightest emotion was enhanced a thousand fold; his angry dismissal of the situation and everything in it, including her, was like a dagger thrust into her heart. She turned her dazed and wounded eyes on Alister. “He… he has gone,” a fresh flow of tears rolled down her cheeks and disappeared on her lips. In an unsteady voice that was barely a whisper, she continued, “My father… my sister,” she shook her head at horrible thought; “they care nothing for me.” Her gaze shifted to where Pietro had vanished, “He has joined them,” she managed through racking sobs. She looked at Alister again. “You should…,” she faltered and tried again, “You should go too. I am so wretched that my own twin finds me impossible to still love; so will you.” With dark eyes that seemed too filled with pain… eyes that had seen too much of the horror of life, she looked deeply into Alister’s gaze. “I am cursed, I will never find happiness.” She stepped away from him, “Forget me, I am lost.” |

Pietro's expedient departure wasn't something he had expected to occur so soon. Pietro wasn't one to shy away from someones words so lightly and it shocked him to no end. A argument, a battle of words, a heated debate that verged on a full out battle between himself and his own teammate, but not for him to just storm off like that. It was almost spooky. Like something far worse was coming of it. It also hit amazingly hard to Wanda which stung far worse than the blows to his own head. The words she spoke were shocking to say the least. How could she say such things about herself? His only reaction at the time was to wipe away her tears and put his arms around her. "You are not cursed. It was my fault for chasing away your brother just now. My words agitated him to the point of chasing him away. For that I'm sorry. I know your brother still loves you. How could he not? His first thoughts when he arrived here was of you and your safety. Even when he was angry at me it wasn't over the turmoil I had caused it was that I had endangered you." He couldn't begin to fathom what she must be going threw. Having family, blood family for that matter, leaving you behind after you spent your entire existence with them and not saying goodbye. His family was all gone, dead and buried for some time now so he hadn't had anyone to look after him or for him to look after till he met X-Factor. Wanda now was here, all alone, needing someone to look after her. She now unfortunately was forced to experience something he had been threw years ago and due to some good friends was only now truly able to come to terms with. Loneliness. "I will never leave you. You are no wretched thing. You are Wanda. Even if the entire world were to stop, even if the world turned against us I would never leave you. I made that mistake once but never again." He held her tightly as that was the only thing he could do for her. His words and his actions would have to do till her brother calmed down and returned to her. The only problem was when that would be. Pietro did things fast but his emotions were strong and may take some time to calm down even for him. He remembered the words Pietro had said to him the first time he himself informed him of his intentions towards his sister. It was ironic. He warned Alister not to make her cry. That Wanda's heart was his heart and Pietro wouldn't stand it to broken by him. Yet here he was. Wanda crying in his arms because of what her brother had just done. It was heartbreaking and infuriating at the same time but he would control himself. Right now she needed someone to lean on. Pietro had dealt with the police, the carriage was beginning to slowly fade away, and now all that was left were the two of them. |

A swirl of wind and contrition produced a blur that reformed into the person of Pietro Django Maximoff, out of breath, an unusual state for him, the soles of his boots were smoking and his ankles were crusted with salt from where he had clearly crossed the ocean. In his arms, he held leather reins, a bridal, a bit, all clearly old, all clearly used... all very familiar, or at least Pietro assumed they would be to Wanda. The leather straps were decorated with faded red flowers, put there by childish, unskilled, but well meaning fingers, and the bit was well worn. He laid the tack on the ground before his sister and Alister, ashamed of the tears on Wanda's cheeks, knowing full well he had put them there as surely as if he had struck her, something he had never done, never would do. He didn't look at the two. "You wish to ride in the streets, you will draw the attention of the police and you will be arrested." Pietro said, "You wish to ride, you wish to take her for a ride, Alister, you will do it where it is allowed, and where it is safe." Now, he looked up at Wanda. "It is your tack from Zombie, your pony from when we were children. I brought it from Transia, just now for you." Zombie, Roma for Beast, had been Wanda's feisty pony, where Cal, Roma for Horse (Pietro had not been a clever boy) had been his. Wanda had adored Zombie, and when they had been forced to flee, she had wept for the old girl. Pietro had crossed the ocean for this apology, not knowing if the tack still existed, but he had swept through the old camp like an avenging wind until he found it. "Your brother is a fool, and a selfish man," he said, looking away, "I wish to keep you safe, wish to keep you home, wish to keep you mine, and I am not happy or used to the idea of sharing you. I want what is best for you, but I begin to think I am not the only one to decide what that is anymore, and it saddens and scares me that I am no longer necessary." |
