I'm just sticking this up here to see who at the mansion wants to interact with him. I'm up for starting a few different threads. We could do one with students, doing training or whatever. Or other fellow X-men to have some interaction, sparring, random fun, etc. Or even someone of the "Other" affiliation somewhere in the New York area. I'm easy and I just want to get Logan out there and interacting with others. It is time to flesh him out and for his presence to be felt. |

July 5th 2:34 PM The ride was almost unbearable. Kelly Hope would have been just fine with taking a plane or a bus to Salem New York but his mother insisted on driving him the whole way, and then of course she had to bring his younger sister on the voyage in they're minivan. "Are you nervous sweetie?" Andrea Hope asked as they drove down the highway towards Kelly's new home. Deep down Kelly was slightly nervous but he wasn't about to admit it to his mother. "I told you a hundred times on this trip Mom, I'm fine." Kelly sat in the front seat next to his mother, his feet tucked under neath him and looking out the window to avoid facing his mother. "I think he's scared." Came a young voice from the backseat where eleven year old Molly Hope sat playing her hand held video game. "Shut up Molly no one asked you." Kelly said shooting a nasty look back at his little sister. "Molly be nice to your brother, he's just worried about moving." Kelly's mother said as she took the exit off of the highway and went on to the streets of Salem. "No I'm not!" Kelly snapped, and those were the last words spoken before they arrived at the institute, which seemed to take ages to Kelly, listening to his little sister in the back making annoying noises. When they arrived Kelly instantly popped open his door and jumped out of the car, when he turned around he noticed his mother was doing the same. "What are you doing?" He asked with an annoyed tone in his voice. "I'm making sure you get settled in honey." Andrea said with a concerned look on her face. "Mom, I'm fine. I'm a big boy remember, I can take care of myself." He slammed the door angrily and walked to the back of the van to the already opened back door. "Well okay sweetie but you call me as soon as you get settled in." His mother said as she climbed back into the car. "Fine whatever." Kelly said as he grabbed his backpack and skateboard from the back of the van and slammed the door shut. The van began to crawl forward and a loud honk came from the the van as it rolled out. "I love you honey!" Came his mother's voice as she speed off down the road. Kelly simply shook his head and walked up the path to the large gate that lead to the entrance of the mansion that was his new home. He went to push open the gate when he came up to it but it held fast. Examining the gate Kelly tried to figure out how he was supposed to get in. Deciding not to wait until he was noticed Kelly threw his skateboard through the bars and tossed his backpack over the top. Finding his footing and hand placement Kelly climbed up the front of the gate, the top had a few spikes at the top that could have hurt him if he wasn't careful but Kelly wasn't scared of it. When he had gotten halfway down the back side of the gate he dropped down to the ground landing hard on his feet. When he turned around to face his new home he couldn't help but admire it for a few moments. It was marvelous and beautiful, Kelly couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated. Throwing his bag over his shoulder and putting the wheels of his skateboard on the cement he hopped on his board and skated up the path towards his new home. |

(JP with Cyclops) Standing at the window in his office, overlooking the school, Scott narrowed his eyes behind his red lenses and folded his arms over his chest. Without looking down at the small man standing beside him, he muttered, "I'm not an old man, Mr. Judd, but sometimes when I see kids like that, I want to shake a cane at them and shout, 'Get off my lawn!' I wasn't that disrespectful as a teen. At least I hope to God, I wasn't. If so, I owe the Professor a huge apology." Nodding slowly in agreement, Puck's only response was a loud "harumph". Turns out the Bossman had been right. if they had gone with his original suggestion about security measures on the front gate, this kid woulda been pulverized. Then they'd have a royal mess to clean up. Looks like the silent alarms and non-lethal force options were smart. "This genius needs more help than we can provide, eh? Don't he see the sign for the damn intercom?" "Every other student who comes here seems to think that showing what a lawbreaker they are earns them some sort of respect." Scott said, "He's not the first and sadly, he won't be the last. You want to try out some of your improvements on the catch and capture systems?" "oh. yea I do." The possibilities were truly great ones to behold. From paralyzing targeted sonic alarms, to an entire matrix of motion detecting tazers, to nerve gas, sleep gas, the place had it all. The Puckster was itchin' to see if they had indeed gotten their money's worth, but perhaps now wasn't the time. Something about tear gas, or neuro inhibitors screamed to him "lawsuit." Instead, keeping it simple seemed the way to go. "how about a nice standard net snare? Maybe leave him hanging up there as an example for a semester or two?" A smirk crossed Scott's face and he said, "Sounds good to me. If he wants to think this is a game, let's play mousetrap. Might give us an idea if this kid is a mutant or a troublemaker, not that the two are exclusive, mind you. Fire at will, Mr. Judd." It was a light comment, not usually Scott's forte, but his curiosity over Puck's modifications was piqued. The tone in Puck's voice was one that unless you've had the unfortunate luck of been across a poker table with the guy, or maybe looking down the barrel of his spin maneuver, you probably hadn't had the pleasure of hearing it. It was the sort of tone that would make Darth Vader run for cover and hide behind the emperor's chair. "This should be good..." Puck pressed a button on the security console, activating an amazing array of bleeps, lights, fancy display icons, and all sorts of other goodness. Now, Puck was no computer genius, but he could read a manual, and besides, this computer was a security computer, and not one of those 27" laptops with the GPSes and the soundblastings in 'em. This was a working man's computer. The image of the new kid appeared on the screen, as well as a nice red crosshair, covering the boy's head. Puck engaged the security system, and the front entry sprang to life. Two large guns which looked something akin to a harpoon gun rose from the ground as secret hatches moved aside. Before the boy had a chance to react, two wire webs were fired at him, covering him completely and knocking him to the ground. Simultaneously, a pulley system latched on to the tethers attached to the net, hoisting the boy up in the air about a good 7-8 feet before coming to a stop. "god, I love technology." |

If Armor went for some kind of fight training, it might be cool for Mercury to come along. She might feel up for something like that now. |

Kelly was about halfway up the pathway heading towards the front of the building when he heard a loud whirling. Turning to see what it was he saw several massive guns appear from seemingly nowhere out of the ground and took aim at him. "What the f-" Before Kelly could finish his sentence he was bombarded with nets that shot out at such an amazing speed that it knocked him clean to the ground and sent his skateboard rattling to the ground and leaving him pinned to the floor. "Help! What the hell is going on." It was at this moment he wished his mom had walked him up to the building, then maybe he wouldn't be under attack by massive guns that shot nets. Then the whirling began again and he felt himself being pulled up from the ground watched as the ground moved away from him. "Hey!" Kelly called out to the empty area hoping someone would let him out. "Someone get me down!" Struggling Kelly tried to get himself in a position so that he could look around or at least sit comfortably in the uncomfortable net. It was times like this that he wished his powers weren't so useless. He bet if he had cool powers like the other kids he'd be able to get out of the net in a second but alas here he was stranded. Hanging upside down, spinning slightly, Kelly wished he would have just stayed at the front gate rather than climb over it. But what was he supposed to do, the gate was locked and he wasn't going to wait for hours on end for someone to find him in front of a school for mutants in days like these. |

Punches from the Punch Dimension

The trap was sprung perfectly, like something out of a movie... or maybe a cartoon would be more accurate. The boy was scooped up in a net like a squirrel in a snare and Scott's lips tilted upwards at the corners. "Oh," he said, not quite laughing, but sounding far more amused than he usually allowed himself to show, "Well, Mr. Judd, that's about the worst thing I have ever seen. I don't know that that's really the impression we want to give new arrivals..." He turned away from the window, heading out to go and greet the intruder. Looking over his shoulder, he said, "Can we get those installed along the back pathway and along the forest border?" Putting on a serious face, Scott hurried outside and up the front path, to where the boy hung. Taking a stern stance before him, Scott said, "There is a sign on the fence, that says 'Ring Intercom' which is the normal way of entering our property. The only reason I can think of to hop a gate that is clearly marked with security measures is to do mischief or because you're mentally deficient. Since I don't tend to think the best of people who intrude on private property, I am torn which of those two unpromising prospects it might be." He folded his arms over his chest and said, "This is Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. It's a special school for special students. But it's a private school, on private property. As you can see, we don't take the security of our children, lightly." |

"Can we get those installed along the back pathway and along the forest border?" Now this was what he was hired for. Not snaring students with non-lethal booby-traps, no, but implementing security measures. He was happy to be appreciated. Obviously, Eugene wasn’t gonna go all Oprah on Scott, with the hugging and the wow you really appreciate my work lets eat ice cream and talk about feelings anytime soon. A nod, and a positive grunt was about the extent of it. "Proposal's already on your desk." Puck took one last look outside at the handiwork of the security system. While the new kid was struggling in his net, the system had been scanning him, looking for weapons, or anything out of the ordinary using x-ray cameras and metal detectors. Kid was clean. Hell, the kid was probably just a new student. Great. He hoped Cyclops knocked some common sense into this kid. Puck hollered out to Scott as he went to meet this new kid. "You know, I really didn't think he'd be stupid enough to climb over the fence. Looks like I owe you five dollars." <exit Puck> |

Kelly eventually quit struggling as he spun slowly in the air. Dizziness began to come over him as the blood in his body was beginning to collect at his head. After what seemed like ages to him a man walked out of the building and towards him. The man held himself with authority and had a stern commanding voice. "Look, I didn't see any signs, okay? I'm sorry will you please let me down?" Kelly asked though it came out to hurriedly to sound sincere. But the man continued on, speaking of how at this school they were very protective of they're students. Wow, what kind of danger did these people have coming that they had artillery at the front gate that would even attack a teenager with a skateboard. "I'm suppose to be starting here." Kelly began shifting himself so that he could see the man with glasses as he spun. "My name's Kelly Hope, my mother talked to someone on the phone about me coming. The gate was locked and I didn't see the sign. The only reason I climbed the fence was because I didn't want to be stuck out in front of a school for mutants. I watch the news, I've seen what happens when mutants are exposed." What a crappy defense. Must have been a major blond moment because as Kelly spun he saw the sign all the way at the front gate from where he hung. |

Punches from the Punch Dimension

The kid's excuse was as flimsy as wet tissue paper, but Scott, contrary to popular belief, did not like to torment the students. He just had a very serious outlook on doing the right thing even if it was inconvenient, and there was a proper way to handle any situation, and rarely did a locked gate equate to the right to hop the fence when there were other clear paths to entry. However, deciding that Puck's trap had done enough, Scott, lifted his glasses and narrowed his eyes, just enough to allow a perfectly aimed beam of red to slice upwards and through the ropes holding young Mr. Hope's net prison, sending the boy spilling to the ground. "Ah, yes, Mr. Hope, we were expecting you," Scott said, his tone not changing to pleasant, but at least not deepening it's disapproval, "An inauspicious start, but then, at least, hopefully, this will be the worst of the trouble we have with you. I'm Scott Summers, part of the school committee. I'll be your math teacher, and likely your mentor. Let's get you inside and get the proper registration matters taken care of, assign you a room and a school course. You're lucky we're on modified summer session right now, so you have some time to settle in before the actual school year starts." Without offering to help the boy up, he turned to head back to the school, "Oh, and for clarification purposes, no one knows this is a school for mutants. As far as this community is concerned, we're a school for gifted children period, which we are, just not the gifts they accept. I was the first student here, and in all that time, despite the frequent mishaps in the world that would cast suspicion on us, we've managed to keep our identity secret. If you know about us, you were meant to. I trust that you'll be able to continue to show discretion." |

There was a moment where the man on the ground stood silent but then he lifted his glasses and a red beam shot from his eyes, breaking the cord that held him up...wait, what cord! Kelly hit the ground like a bag of bricks. "Ow!" He said as he sat up. Upon trying to stand Kelly found himself unstable and tumbled back to the ground. The name drop had apparently done the trick. The man seemed to lighten up slightly but Kelly could still feel the weight of the disappointment from Scott. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Summers." Kelly said as he attempted to stand again, this time more successfully. A bad feeling brewed in Kelly's stomach when he heard that the man he had just met was his new math teacher 'Oh great, wonderful first impression!' Kelly thought as he went over and picked up his skateboard off the ground. As Mr. Summers started walking back up the school Kelly jogged to catch up. Normally he would have used his board to follow but he was afraid that his balance was still off. "So no one else knows that this is a mutant school huh?" Kelly said, mostly to himself. "Your secrets safe with me." He said to Mr. Summers as they entered the building and Kelly couldn't help but let out a low whistle. "Wow this place is amazing." He said as he looked around the entry way. "So do I have to like sign papers or take a survey or something?" Kelly asked Mr. Summers as his eyes continued to wander around the place that would be his new home. |
