Bank Job; Juggernaut and Black Tom

The woman in Black Tom’s arms kept screaming and whining. It was understandable, Tom supposed. It wasn’t that he had time to think about it at that point in time but she was a normal woman. She was going about her daily business, living her mediocre life. Being the hostage in a mutant bank robbery could be the high point of her life. She would be a story passed down to her children’s children, so of course the situation was overwhelming for her. “Looks like your human police have killing the likes of us at a higher priority than saving you,” Tom taunted the woman.

Cain was using the automobile as a shield for them. He gave the wreck a heave and managed to bump into the Irishman in the process. Tom and his hostage stumbled backwards slightly thanks to the Juggernaut’s mutant momentum. Tom swore as he tripped backward. His shirt sleeve caught on the edge of a crumpled car. The sleeve was ripped away. Under different circumstance, Tom could have made a joke about loosing a deposit on the suit. His deformed, gnarled arm was open to the air now and not hidden by the suit.

Tom grunted and hurried back to the protection behind Juggernaut and his twisted metal shield. The behemoth suggested that it would be possible for Tom to be carried to safety. “Thanks for the offer, mate, but Tom doesn’t ride bitch for anyone,” he grunted. “I’m going to make a break for it on three. One. Two. Three.”

Tom let go of the woman and then set his foot against the small of her back. He kicked her, flailing, from one direction behind Juggernaut and he ran the opposite direction toward Ariel and her portal. The Irishman covered his head with one arm and fired a strafing blast from the baton in his other hand. He didn’t look to see who or what was hit. He didn’t look to see the fate of the woman he had held hostage. He just ran with his eyes locked on Ariel’s pink coiffed head.

As he approached, she held the door open wider. Tom’s foot landed squarely on the bottom step and he propelled himself through the air to fly through the glowing pink portal framed by the doorjamb. He crashed into Ariel and as soon as he passed the threshold he landed on the floor in a flophouse in Mutant Town. He rolled off of her. “Sorry, lass!” he said quickly.

He then scrambled across and snatched Ariel from the floor. The Juggernaut was going to come barreling through and the young mutant was going to get crushed if she remained there.

"Thanks for the offer, mate, but Tom doesn't ride bitch for anyone."

"No, Tom always rides with his cane and reins lashed around their necks. Besides, we both know I'd be the bitch," Cain sneered, barely bothering to hold the two pieces of the car. Hands lashed around pieces of torn metal, gripping tightly. Fuel was leaking out of the rended car's tank; luckily, the destruction Cain had caused seemed to have cut out the electric circuits in the machines.

"I'm going to make a break for it on three. One. Two. Three."

Cain watched as his friend kicked away the little cunt he had dragged into this mess, sending her out the other side as a distraction. Uncaring as to her condition, after Tom had kicked her on out (surely, it wasn't going to be anything but messy), his friend went ahead and dashed through the remaining space between their foritified car barrier and the door with Ariel inside. With a wayward blast at the officiers, Tom made it to the other side.

With Tom in the safe zone, Cain flexed his powers, his superior strength thrusting aside the two halves, throwing them into the other nearby vehicles. Barrelling forward, momentum caught Cain as gunfire shouted out behind him, bullets flying to where Tom had gone and Cain was going. His back and arms were littered with bullets, the stinging sensation of metallic min-torpedos hitting him all over. They wouldn't do much to him. At most they'd leave a small bruise, but that wasn't something Cain would worry about. His limited healing factor would take care of those with little problem.

Bulldozing between the space the cops were shooting from and the door to escape, Cain eventually forced himself to stop. His stature would post a horrible problem to this, as he would normally just trampage straight through it. If he did that, however, who knew what would happen to Ariel's connection? Maybe he'd be ditched there.

Delicately moving himself through the door -- which was something Cain was not exactly comfortable with -- he eased in, his own body working as a shield against stray bullets, and shut the door. Almost instantly, the sound of gunfire disappeared as Ariel's connection with the other side disconnected.

Grinning, Cain dropped the large bags of money on the floor.

"Just like the good ol' days."
