Date: July 2nd

One long night accompanied by one long day. After the grueling matches the key holders of CAGE threw against the Colossus, she wondered if they took him off to die somewhere less then desirable. The day, was as said, insufferably long. Eager to see if he had made it through alive or like those who left in body bags. As hard a sit was to maintain her patience in entering the grounds, Rage had managed. The whole day it was like that. Waiting impatiently to find him. But each time she walked out of her cell there was no luck.

Dinner time. Her hazel eyes searched the grounds quickly, not having found the man she was looking for, her own anger was rising. She went to one of the other Sayans for information, he had told her that he was okay just getting some food. After a small quick thank you to the Sayan, she kept a quick pace to the cafeteria. Eyeballing each and every one of the inmates that ate, she saw the Colossus. In the back. With a look on his face that could only be described as the 'breaking point'. The hazel eyed girl approached with a slower pace. And cautious. He was alone.

It couldn't have been the fight that was worn so deep on his face. He had won. Tina's brows lowered in confusion, and concern. Something had happened. But what? She reached the table in the corner. Standing across from him it was even more clear that the fights from last night had affected him in a way she couldn't describe yet. The Rage Bringer spoke as she kept her stance in front of him, “Piotr?” Her voice stayed calm and even, as always.

Pete could feel every fiber in his body. His legs, arms, ribs... bruises covered his face; he sported two black eyes, a busted lip, and his hands were bandaged due to several nasty cuts, making it difficult to wield a fork properly to stab the sorry excuse for corned beef sitting on his plate. It could have easily been cardboard mottled with some sort of jelly.

His arm rested in a sling with a large bandage wrapped around the bicep; it was already crimson as the blood from the large wound seeped through. The arm was virtually useless, a large portion of his muscle completely gone… he would never be able to use that arm properly again. At least… not in this form.

He wasn’t even sure what would happen when he took on his metal form again. Would he be able to use his crippled arm just as he always had, or would it be just as useless in its metal form as it was now? He did not know, but the fact that it was possible things would be normal in his more durable form made his current state somewhat easier to bear. He had hope, and that was all he could cling to at the moment.

He poked at his meal sullenly with his ‘good’ hand, fork barely gripped as he wondered how he would fare over the remainder of his time in the CAGE.

“Piotr?”

He glanced up only to glance back down, not really wanting her to see him bruised and nearly broken; he never thought he’d feel this way, but at that moment, he wasn’t sure he wanted her there.

“What is it,” he said sullenly, pushing his food around on his plate.

Are you okay? No. I’ve been looking for you all day. Where’ve you been? No. I’m glad you made it out of there alive. No. You sure showed them. No. I started the cheer for you during the fight. No. Whatever the Rage Bringer thought of in reply to his question, none of it seemed good enough. So for a moment she stood in silence. She was in such a rush to get to him that she didn’t really notice. Never really fully noticed, how badly hurt he was. The bandages and wounds that were still bleeding.

Tina was not medically certified to know the extent of it. But it was clear enough to just see. The man who sat before her sat in a hostile silence. Like the lone dark, gloomy cloud that threatened a good day. The Russian was usually lighter, more kind. But the fights from the previous night dimmed him. Darkened his demenor, and made him visually more volatile.

The hazel eyed girl took a seat next to him, carefully. Reaching her hand to lightly touch his good hand, and said softly, “I’m sorry.” It seemed like the appropriate thing to say. At least to her it did. She stared at the table, his hand, the food, the fork, as if she was truly sorry for what had happened to him. And a part of her was sorry. After all she did have a heart, she just never really cared to much to show. The Rage Bringer’s heart was stained with hate but it didn’t mean Buford Hollis was right in his assessment of her. She did have feelings.

She continued, “I’m sorry we’re taking so long.” That was what she was sorry about. Feeling responsible, as if there might be something she could do to speed up their escape. Tina wanted to go home now. She had enough of the retched CAGE. Cell mates being killed, friends being hurt, one of which she had to fight against. Poked, prodded, stripped, harassed. They would pay for the suffering they caused. Good dreams consisted of the CAGE burning. Engulfed with fire, blood boiling along the side due to the heat. Screams of humans heard from inside. Mutants on the other side; free. She would wake up smiling.

The Rage Bringer removed her hand and set it on the table in front of her. “And that we couldn’t get everyone out of here long ago.” It wasn’t much. But it was all she could think of to say to Piotr.

Piotr finally managed to look up and keep his eyes focused on Tina, glancing down at the hand that had rested on his briefly and back up into those deep eyes. He suddenly felt bad for the tone he’d taken with her, “It is not your fault, Tina. This place was built to be the best place to hide mutants.” He glanced over Tina’s shoulder to make sure no one was around to hear what he said; convinced, he looked back at Tina, “Breaking the inmates out of a place such as this one is not easy.”

He shook his head, “No… I do not blame you. I only blame those misguided people who believe that holding mutants prisoner here without a trial is a disgrace. They treat us like animals and do everything they can to break our spirit, and they have almost won that battle for mine.”

He hesitated a few moments before going on, “I am also troubled that in the three years I have been here and held captive by the evil men who killed my family, why my friends have not rescued me.” He looked back down at the incredibly unappetizing food, “They are extremely resourceful people. They would have been able to find me if they really wanted to.”

He met Rage’s gaze again, this time placing his good hand on hers, “I have good news though.” He glanced around again to make sure no one else could hear. “It is time,” he said in a near whisper. “Magneto is coming, and when he frees us, I will join him.”

She listened as he spoke. Talking about what really angered him. Who he had blamed. What was troubling him. His friends who hadn’t come for him. The hazel eyed girl couldn’t understand something like that. It was her team that was coming for them once the break out occurred. He was right about humans trying to break their spirits, treating them like animals. No they were less then animals. Worse than animals. They were treated in such ways that PETA would call animal cruelty. Children who kicked dogs and shot firecrackers at cats were more kind. To these humans they were nothing.

Piotr leaned in close so no one else would hear. Putting his hand on hers. He told her news that made her smirk with glee. Magneto was coming, the time was now. And that once they were free the Colossus was going to join him. Tina was glad such a strong mutant was joining their ranks. He would be of great use to the cause. But deep in her thoughts she wondered if he could bring himself to take out the human oppressors. If he really had it in him to keep on killing.

True she never got her own hands directly dirty. But there was still blood on her hands. He had killed, this she knew, the Russian told her. The reasons for it were understandable. Humans had killed his family. Held him prisoner and tortured him. Smiling back at the Russian inmate she sighed one of relief. Freedom was mere steps away. “Finally.” Speaking quietly so the other inmates wouldn’t be curious as they spoke she continued, “What’s the plan?”

Home had never sounded so sweet before.

“Mystique and Kyle have decided to attack the nullification field generator and then the machine that shields the CAGE from electromagnetism. He will be there to aid us, Tina. Magneto himself will help free us from this place.” The fact that the Master of Magnetism himself was overseeing the destruction of the CAGE and the liberation of its inmates was a little overwhelming. That feeling alone was strange for him.

He had never approved of Magneto’s methods, but there had always been a part of him that wondered if some of the things he said were true. Since his first-hand experiences with human hatred, Colossus had come to understand what the man was talking about when he spoke of prejudice and inhumane behavior. With his collective destroyed, family dead, and unable to return to the X-Men, Colossus had nothing aside from his bitterness and the few friends he had made during his stay in the CAGE – Mikhail, Kyle, Axel, Tina, and the other Sayans. His former gang members would likely go their separate ways, but he would follow Tina to the Brotherhood; he hoped that they could use him. Perhaps he could even talk Axel into coming along.

He tried not to think too hard on the X-Men, wondering what they would think about his new line of thought. Really though… could they actually blame him? He had been under the knife and one moment, and nearly ripped apart by all manner of devices used to test the limits of his durability. He would be unconscious for days afterward as he recovered from the assault. Surely they couldn’t blame him for feeling the way he did.

But then… isn’t that what Magneto had endured in the German prison camps? If so, why did they oppose him with so much enthusiasm? Perhaps they were actually wrong. But then… what if it was him that was wrong. He didn’t want to be responsible for killing women, children, and other innocents.

“It will happen during the fights next week. Mystique will cause a distraction that will free us all at the same time to fight back. All we must do is destroy those two devices, and we will be guaranteed our freedom.”

He couldn’t help but allow a little smile of hope spread over his abused lips, “It is nearly time.”

The Russian told her the plan. Magneto was coming for them. Surprisingly to say it warmed her heart. It felt like ages since she had last been home. Free to do as she pleased. Piotr told her when it would happen and her heart raced. God, it was so close. Close enough to taste it. She sighed with a smile. Tina looked into his eyes, “Finally”

There stay there had gone on long enough. It was going to stop and soon. “The devices. It'll be hard to get to them. Even from the pit, it won't be easy. But, I think we can do it.” She couldn't wait to get out of there. Something in the pit of her stomach was unsettling. She couldn't pin point it, so the Rage Bringer ignored it.

“Hopefully we aren't in the pit fighting when it happens.” Her mind wondered to that possibility for a moment before continuing. With a satisfied sigh she spoke, “Freedom. Finally. The feeling just from the thought... bliss.” She smiled and shook her head. “I'll sleep well tonight.” She took a quick glance over her shoulder, to look for any nosy eavesdroppers. None. Turing back to him her smile faded, “Are you in pain?”

The Russian gave her a slightly baleful look in response to her question; he most certainly was in pain… a great deal of it. He had been punched and kicked repeatedly… partially crushed and had chunks bitten out of him. His head had been stomped on twice and one of his eyes was swollen halfway shut. One arm was completely useless and the other was covered in teeth marks, gouges, and scratches… anyone who looked at the Russian could see he was in a great deal of pain; the smallest movement caused him discomfort.

“Yes, flower, I am. But do not worry… it will take more than this to stop me from helping bring this place to the ground. I hope you will not think me useless and leave me behind. It is worse than it looks.” He wondered if that was an actual consideration. Evolution taught survival of the fittest, and at the moment, Piotr Rasputin wasn’t the alpha male, thanks to the CAGE’s money-making enterprise.

“I am still of use and once I have access to my powers again, I will be able to use both arms to tear this place apart. I know I will.” He had to regain the full use of his body when he turned to steel… there was no other option. If he needed to, he would keep the form indefinitely… never transform again into weak flesh. Whatever it took to ensure his freedom was never robbed again and that he would once more find a family.

She didn't like that he was in pain. But she was glad to hear it wouldn't stop him from demolishing the wretched place to rubble. After he talked she replied to his earlier statement. “You're too important to leave behind. Don't worry. I won't. And after an audience with other Brotherhood members I don't think it'd be overstepping my boundaries to say we won't leave you.” He was important enough to be one of the inmates who was spoken to directly by a member from the outside.

Deep down that made the Rage Bringer wonder. If she had been forgotten and was just so easy to replace. But she was sure Magneto wouldn't have condemned her to such a place when he was the one who had asked for the volunteers in the first place. So she pushed the thought down and away. Ignoring it and determined not to let it swarm her head and cloud her judgment.

Tina felt as though the freedom from CAGE still couldn't come quick enough. That with her time there, her impatience was well deserved. She just had to make sure not to get herself thrown into solitary. By doing nothing and keeping as much under the radar as possible.
