Alister didn't like doctors. He hated hospitals in particular. He remembered vaguely seeing a psychiatrist when he was younger. His parents didn't like all the imaginary friends he had at an older age. They wanted to check to see if he was normal. It was a big laugh now. His 'imaginary friends were actually the beginnings of his mutant powers manifesting. The doctor of course thought he was just anti-social and needed to make more friends. It's why he doesn't like doctors. Most pretend to know everything and really don't know anything. Though he didn't mind being observed he wasn't above a little fun. So on his way to meet the good doctor Samson he made sure to bring a couple of things. A pocket full of jolly ranchers, a notepad, and a pen.

He opened the door wearing the glasses and as he walked in his first thoughts were holy crap this guy is HUGE! His enlarged eyes were probably a dead give away he was somewhat shocked. The name Samson was now more appropriate than ever. "Got to say you sure don't look like any doctor, shrink, or psychiatrist I've ever seen. I like the hair though. Very disarming." It was just a startle since well his own creatures built up a kind of resistance to surprising situations like these. He'd probably be ok with a six armed, monkey headed, zebra giving a lecture on nuclear physics and still be perfectly fine with it. Though he'd have no real reason to be hearing a lecture on that subject.

"So Mr. headshrinker man, how do you want to go about starting? If you're hear to find out if I'm ok with the hole government involvement I can go ahead and tell you I'm not. The first sign they are pulling some hidden agenda, trying to turn us into a military strike force, or something like that and well I don't know what but I'll do something." He strongly dislike the idea of the government getting involved in X-Factor. It was supposed to be a group of people helping out the ones caught in the middle. Not some kind of military strike force under the control of some bureaucrat with an agenda. The only reason he was even still there was that he had the utmost trust in Alex and if this was something he wanted to do he'd do his best to help. Though if things seemed like Alex wasn't in control anymore. He didn't even want to finish thinking it.

"Got to say you sure don't look like any doctor, shrink, or psychiatrist I've ever seen. I like the hair though. Very disarming." Alister Black's first words were like most of his team mates about Samson's hair.

The psychiatrist smiled, "Well, if you had seen me before I was accidentally irradiated with Gamma Rays, you might not have a problem believing I am a brain not a brawn in my heart." He indicated the chair in front of him and said, "Please, have a seat. I'm just here to talk to you a little, not judge, not check a box for sane/insane. But, yes, I do want to hear all of your concerns about SHIELD's sponsorship. You seem to be basing your objections on supposition and misinformation. SHIELD isn't trying to make a mutant strike force. They have several of those already, not that you heard it from me," he winked. "The idea is that X-Factor is meant to bridge a gap between humans and mutants, that is so desperately needed. Do you disagree that something must be done?"

Crossing his legs, and affecting a casual stance, Samson said, "Your bossman, as everyone seems to call him, agreed to it, without much concern, even worked out some arrangements to help you all out beyond Hodge's original proposal. Do you trust Alex Summers to make the decisions for you? Even given his history? Or do you think his judgment might be faulty?"

Alister sat down at the offered chair somewhat confused at first. This guy was either really good at acting or he actually meant what he said. Though he may be telling the truth. Either way he was being given a chance to state his concerns with what was going on and that was something that he was wanting as well. " I'm not saying that SHIELD is or isn't but you have to admit that people of authority may say what they want but they don't say is how they intend to go about it. That and military minds usually only look at people with capabilities as weapons first and people second. That's not anything but my own opinions however. No real facts to support it. The reasons behind it are simple though. Mutant registration and the Sentinels. If we weren't considered weapons then why would they make something like those. It's like an anti-missile defence. It only ever targeted mutants even though they said it was there to protect them."

It took a few seconds before he realized he was ranting and he quieted down and took a deep breath. "Sorry guess I had a bit of left over pent up frustration from that ordeal. To answer your other question though yea I trust the Bossman to do what's right for all of us. I don't follow blindly though I'm not wired that way. If I have a problem I let people know. He's the one who put this hole thing together anyway so it's only fitting he dictates the way he wants it to go. If any of us don't like it and don't see any other course we are always free to leave though none of us want that."

He fidgeted a bit as he pulled some of the candy out of his pocket and offered a piece to the doc as he also tossed one into his mouth. "Yea something has to be done to unite mutants and humans. Strain any relationship between any two people and wars start or worse. That's not any solution to any problem.." He wasn't against all military or government per say. He just didn't have much confidence that they didn't all just want mutant gone. "I know there are people out there that like mutants and want to see coexistence between the two species but right now as long as any normal person is out there trying to kill one there will always be problems and some people only hate for the sake of hating. When those are the only people left things will get easier and may even become peaceful. Though then I'm pretty sure that there will be mutant style police to contend with mutant criminals too." it was hard to keep things in order in his head as his mind liked to jump from topic to topic. It was like really bad Attention Deficit Disorder. "So what do you think is the best road to Peace? I mean for the government backing X-Factor what exactly do they expect us to do exactly?"

Alister echoed what the other members of this team said about Alex Summers. A man who had disappeared twice, the second time returning as a monster, albeit manipulated and unwilling, but a danger and a murderer nonetheless, yet he had someone managed to inspire a group of malcontents, and misused to follow him despite his flaws. Was he a good leader or were they merely loyal? It was something that SHIELD could easily abuse if they were inclined to. And that was clearly the issue on everyone's mind. Samson understood their concerns, after all these were people who some time ago had giant robotic craft sent to monitor them, and who had repeatedly suffered at governmental hands time and time again.

What he focused on though, like he had with all the other complaints regarding Summers's decision to release some of his control over this group. "You're making assumptions as to what SHIELD wants, in the same breath as admitting you don't know what they want. I wonder how much of your objection is based on informed decisions and how much is simply the same sort of expectation as we have of you. You're the member of a race of an unstable powers who can kill us with a thought. How are we to trust you? How are we to feel safe with you around?"

He spread his hands and said, "SHIELD wants the fighting to end, they want peace as much as the mutants do. We're not here to commit genocide."

Samson had raised several good points to consider. How would a normal person feel safe with someone, possibly right next door, that could blast apart rocks with a wink of an eye or make them do anything they wanted them to by thinking it? It really was a good question and Alister didn't really have an answer for him because to tell you the truth he was too afraid most of the time about his own powers hurting others to think those thoughts. "It's funny you should actually ask that. Because I think for the most part mutants are too afraid that once people know they have powers they'll be attacked for it to use them. Some don't even think about using there powers to hurt others. The one's that do though." He looked down at the ground. "Those people need to be stopped by people like the X-men, X-factor, shield. The ones that can handle them. I understand it I just am afraid of the people higher up who may look to use us for there own ends."

He looked Samson in the eyes as he leaned forward in his chair. "If I thought SHIELD was only trying to get control of X-Factor to use us I'd be out of here already instead of submitting to a mandatory evaluation. I'm hoping this is just me being paranoid and overreacting. Nothing would make me happier than this... " He paused as he searched for the words. "Partnership or alliance to work without a hitch, but life has taught me that you hope for the best and plan for the worst." He sat back in his chair taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out. He didn't say anything for a minute or two as he let his mind find the words he wanted. He was surprised at how talkative he was being. He didn't really plan to say this much but it seemed like it was just flowing out of him like a broken damn loosing water. It made him think for a minute that the good doctor here had some kind of power to make people speak there minds but more than likely it was just something that he needed to get off his chest if he was going to make this work.

"I have to much invested in this place, both mentally and emotionally to let something bad happen to it. I'm not saying that you or anyone else is going to do something bad to it, but would you just let someone you don't know much about just walk in without keeping a close eye on them if you were in there position." The last statement was one he knew everyone really wanted deep down. "I don't think Shield's trying to kill mutants. I'm just worried what's going to happen if someone else is calling the shots. Alex is someone who we can talk to personally on an equal footing. When you bring in someone else you sometimes get the feeling that they may not care what you have to say. I don't think what I'm trying to say is coming across the way I want. No one's saying anything about Genocide and we all want peace. It's just I don't know how to go about it, none of us do. We just try to keep everyone safe and hope that people one day understand that we are just people that are trying to live our lives like they are. We just have other advantages than they do. If you're asking how to make people get use to mutants it's not something that can be done overnight. It just takes time. History has taught us that."

Director Cameron Hodge had no idea what he was getting into. This team was made up of damaged goods, men and women who carried enough baggage to overwork a fleet of skycaps. Murderers, the manipulated, the monstrous had all be gathered here to find what exactly? Redemption, salvation, hope... This was not a team of superheroes who did what they did because they had some mystical calling...

... these were people who did it because it was the only thing they could do, the one thing that would save themselves from what had been done do them, by them, because of them. This was something that SHIELD could conceivably take and make into something as deadly as the proverbial weapon of mass destruction...

But listening to Alister's words and passion, Samson thought to himself that it would take a better man than Hodge to turn X-Factor into government goons. He didn't say so though. They wouldn't believe him at this point.

"So, you feel that Alex's leadership is on an approachable level," Samson said, "Even after what happened to him? Has he changed at all since his return? Is he still the same man he was before Apocalypse? What about the rest of your team? Does everyone still trust him to be able to lead? Do you trust him?"

It didn't take more than a second for him to respond to his questions. "What was done to Alex was monstrous and it created a monster. Though that's exactly the point. It created a monster. It wasn't there before and now that he's himself even though it may have left a mark on him it's still him. He just needs time to heal like all of us, like mutant town." Though the question of was he the same man after. That was a trickier question. "I don't really think any of us are the same after that. Seeing all that destruction and death kinda changes you. It may be small and barely noticeable for some or obvious for others but it changed everyone that survived. Even bossman is different."

Trust was the reason that X-Factor was still here, the reason any of them were still here. "Of course I still trust him. I wouldn't be here if I couldn't trust the man who lead us. I don't know of anyone who could follow someone they didn't trust." He disappeared twice but that's just it, even though he was pulled away from everyone he still came back, even turned into a monster and he still came back to them. "I think it says a lot about a person that even when you're riped down, re-built, made into something completely opposite yourself, forget everything and everyone, even those who you love and you still crawl back to yourself again. That is devotion. He may have disappeared but he still always comes back."

To Alister all those events Alex went threw weren't some random thing. They were events to shape him into what he needed to be. Tasks and tests that were there to make him into something better to give him something he was lacking. A skill, some knowledge, some insight. They had to happen and so they did. "The monster called War and the leader we call Havok are two different people to me. So there is no question to my feelings on the matter." It took him a second to realize something though. Most of the questions were formed around Alex and how he felt about him as a leader and as a person. It seemed a bit weird but at the same time with what happened it was understandable that most people in the same position would want to know. "So is there any reason you're asking mostly about Alex? It seems a bit odd to me you keep asking about him. Though with what happened to him I understand the interest

Samson spread his hands, "The questions are valid ones, Alister. Members of your time fought against the Horseman of War, and the man here who leads you, was that Horseman. Now, this speaks either volumes about him, and his charisma and influence, or it speaks about you and your loyalty and devotion. So, the questions need to be asked and answered. SHIELD is going to want to know these things."

Looking pointedly at the young man, Samson said, "I'm curious as to why you are so eager to steer the conversation away from your loyalty to your boss, but maybe one of your team mates will be more willing to speak to us about X-Factor's easy re-acceptance of the man who murdered nearly four million people alone. This team has a lot of death on its hands, come to think of it. Lots of murderers and criminals who have been given a remarkable amount of forgiveness." A casual remark that was in no way casual.

He folded his hands again and said, "But then, you and I can talk about you, for a while, if that would make you more comfortable. You left X-Factor for a time, and have recently returned. What did you do with your time while you were away, what is it that brought you back?"

He had just pulled his shoe off, put mud all over it, and shoved it all the way down his throat and into his stomach with one little question. It was weird that most of the questions had been about Alex and with that simple question they were now all directed about him. He wasn't sure how to exactly answer the question as he didn't fully remember all of what happened. It was like waking up from a bad dream and blocking out the bad parts because you didn't like them. Not only that but how did SHIELD know he left for a time. Were they keeping tabs on there comings and goings? Not only that but how long had they been doing it? "If SHIELD knows I left I'm pretty sure they know why. Though if you just want to hear it from me you could technically say I was taking a 'mental' holiday." He made sure to make the air quotes with his hands to really emphasise the humor of the mental part.

He smiled as he let his head rest against the chair and stared up at the ceiling. If they wanted to replace or remove him there wasn't anything he could really do. Especially if they already knew. Though should he tell him the hole truth or just let him think he knows everything? It was a tricky thing. He didn't know if he was just another government lackey type who would do anything he was told for a pat on the back but he didn't have any reason to mistrust him and trust was something you were supposed to earn so here was the Doctors chance to earn his trust.

"In all honesty Doc I'm sure SHIELD already knows this since it apparently is keeping tabs on us and has been for a long time. I was afraid I was about to majorly loose control of my powers, go nuts, and possibly attack everyone in sight so I kinda tried to find a out of the way place till I was better." He held up his hand showing off Jeffries nullification watch he built and that Alex had him wear. "That's what this thing is usually for. I turn it on my powers go away. I turn it off my powers come back. I wear it when I sleep so my creatures don't just pop up and try to blow up the building..." He let a small pause to by before chiming in. "again."

He was sure that if he was actually here to check the insane or not insane box even though he said he wasn't that the box for insane would be checked... a couple of times, in multiple colors, and underlined. "Though if you're wanting to discuss murders and criminals that's fine to talk about those who do such by choice." He leaned up resting his head in his hands. "But when you take away someones free will and make them into a puppet to kill and torture at your will then the puppet is just a tool and the one willing it is the killer. So Alex isn't a killer and sure as hell isn't War and you can tell that to SHIELD. His last statement was the most serious as any so far.

"There are ways to control your powers, learn that ability, besides shutting them off," Samson said, "A theory is that mutants without control have a mental block as opposed to say physical inability. X-Factor has a relationship with a school specifically for teaching mutants to use their abilities to the fullest and the most controlled. I'm curious as to why you haven't utilized its facilities." He cocked his head, and though his hair fell in his face, he didn't resort to the feminine flip of it back into place, a man comfortable with his body as it now was, yet not vain about it. "Especially if you're afraid you'll hurt the people you love. Though I confess to some concern about your statements that you are afraid you'll hurt your friends, but there is no thought about moving someplace where there might not be people who can help contain you."

"Speaking of your powers, you talk about free will, and how taking it from people can turn them into monsters, murderers. Your powers though, aren't they summoning creatures and taking their free will to make them do your bidding?" Samsom spread his large hands, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see much difference between that and what Apocalypse did to your bossman, or what Mojo did to Jon Harper. Your creations, are they sentient? Have you ever spoken to them? Tried to find out where they come from? How you bring them from wherever it is? Wanda builds her creations from the nothingness of chaos. Is it a similar power? Is that why you are attracted to her?"

Allister was a bit shocked at the response he got. It wasn't at all the one he was prepared for and it was actually a bit of a relief. He seemed a bit more concerned for the people he talked to and not judging them. This is what a psychologist needed to be like. He didn't offer any false absolutes on what his problem or a solution was. Though with some of his questions it brought up rather good points. Why hadn't he gone to the school to try and get some control of his abilities? He remembered Alex suggesting it once but he didn't know why he never actually went. "I think it's because I'm a very stupid man Doc. I hadn't even thought of going there for that." He rubbed his face with a half hearted giggle as he couldn't believe he never thought of it before and it took a absolute stranger he was meeting for the first time to point it out. "I know but like I said I'm a very stupid person when it comes to making certain decisions. It's probably why I'm not leading any teams any time soon."

It was funny he mentioned his creatures and having a conversation with them. "I have actually. I played chess with one for a little while. Till one of the others tried eating the board." He smirked as he mentioned it. "Some of them are quiet smart and very much sentient some however only have a very base intelligence. None however ever answer the question of where they come from and I don't know why they won't answer it." He contemplated it for a minute before moving on to the next question. "I don't think I take away there free will. It's more like I'm asking them for there help and they help or they don't. Can't tell you how many times one of them have just popped up and I don't know, rearranged my room when I was sleeping or something like that. So I'm almost positive they still have free will if they are indeed sentient creatures. Though I'm probably going to have to have another talk with some of them soon to find out if they do come from somewhere."

The moment he mentioned Wanda the smallest of smiles landed on his face and he slightly drifted off into thought but quickly shacked out of it. "It's not Wanda's abilities being similar that attracted me to her but rather the type of person she herself is that did it. Out of most the ones I've met or seen she just stood out from them. I still remember the day I realized I was attracted to her." He chuckled at the memories. "She took me on a flying carpet to Central park where the statue, if it's still there, stands. Me and her brother were having a musical duel of sorts." It took a minute for his brain to register what exactly happened but it was actually kinda funny. The order of how he got from Apocalypse, to his creatures and powers, to Wanda's powers to his relationship with her. It was kinda like a snowball falling down a cliff. "Me and her having seemingly similar powers gives us a certain understanding of each other is all. It's like saying how one super strong individual probably understands what another super strong one goes threw ."

Samson smiled at Alister's descriptions of his creatures' misbehavior. "I understand why you would want to make sure they don't pop up when you don't summon them in that case."

Listening to his voice change when he spoke about Wanda, Samson nodded. "I imagine she's quite a woman. Tell me about her brother. How do you get along with him. I suppose that his outlook towards you is unfavorable, knowing what I know about him." The file on Pietro and Wanda Maximoff revealed an extra- ordinarily close relationship, one that was hardly a standard sibling connection, but had not crossed over into something less than wholesome. Samson knew nothing about gypsy culture, but he had known a few over protective brothers in his day. "What is your impression of the twins as a whole? How do you think they fit into X-Factor? Their parentage is well known. Do you think that affects their world view? Does it affect your view on them? Probably not Wanda, but do you treat Pietro at all differently because he is the son of a man who is either mutantkind's greatest champion or humankind's greatest fear? Or is he simply another member of X-Factor that your monsters might hurt if you accidentally unleash them improperly?"

He let out a small sigh when it came time to talk about Pietro. He knew it was coming as soon as Wanda came up though so he was kinda prepared. "Pietro and me don't really have a good relationship no. In fact the only time he really talks to me anymore is about how I'm, let me try to get this exactly right, not fight to walk the same patch of earth as her let alone the same room. Then there was the time he banged my head into a stage couch but I actually think I deserved that one so that one kind of equals out. Though I really want Pietro and me to have at least a civilized relationship with each other. I mean things between us were fine till a little time after I started courting Wanda. I got his permission before hand out of respect so he knew but for some reason I just became a threat or something."

He wasn't sure exactly how to describe how they both fit in. It was rather difficult as he didn't really try to place people into groups. "I'd say they fit in fine. We all have our little quirks and things. Wanda's kind of the ever watchful mother type. She makes sure every one's taken care of. Pietro is like the older brother who's not afraid to let you know you've screwed up and that's he's very disappointed in you for it." He let out a bit of a giggle thinking of Pietro like that and shaking a finger for emphasis.

"I don't think ill of Pietro because of who his father is. It's not like he or anyone gets to pick there parents. In my eyes the sins of the father do not pass to the child so the only things that would bother me are the things that Pietro himself do." He thought on things for a minute. About how Magneto came to X-Factor a while back to talk to them. He saw him and was about ready to fight him but luckily for himself he wasn't here as an aggressor but as there father. To talk to his children. It was a bit of a soft spot for Alister so he didn't have a problem because Pietro wouldn't let anything happen and he knew and trusted that.

"If my creatures were unleashed improperly against Pietro I have no doubt that most anything that encountered him with the intention to do him harm would be completely decimated within, I'd say, about a quarter of a second without hesitation. Then he'd come find me." He smirked at the end of it knowing full well that both Alex and him have had 'concerns' about his creatures running around unattended and they'd both have things to say to him but Pietro would more likely do things to him also.

"How likely is it that your creatures would be improperly unleashed?" Samson asked, "Are they a danger? Out of control? Are you?" He leaned back in his chair, "There's a high incidence of superhuman individuals losing control of their powers, their minds. It's not an uncommon thing, frighteningly, and while mental illness is enough of a normality that I'd been living quite comfortably off it for many years before I was gamma radiated, but for the most part, the average man will put a fist through a wall, cheat on a spouse, drink to obliviousness... What happens when a man with difficulties coping can punch through a mountain? The danger clearly increases, for humanity, for the world in general."

He waved a huge hand in the air and said, "To take a famous example, the Hulk. Without revealing anything not all over the press, I can safely tell you that the Hulk is not a monster, but the rage fueled manifestation of one man's powerlessness taking charge of him body and mind. When the Hulk's human self loses this control, he becomes a monster in appearance and deed, and without proper management techniques, he becomes a huge and powerful threat."

"Now," Samson said, "Multiply that by the estimated several thousand powered people within the superhero/supervillain community. Many of them have abilities that could literally crack the world in half, extinguish our sun, wipe out life as we know it, as was clearly demonstrated by the state of mindless insanity Apocalypse drove those who were chosen as his horsemen to. That insanity was spread by the nanites, and for a time there, a sizeable chunk of the human and mutant races were, for lack of a better term, batshit crazy. How does one keep himself secure in a world like this? Do you think it's possible to survive? Do we have a snowball's chance, Mr. Black?"
