Superheated Plasma Blasts
|
August 1st Afternoon It had been two days since Lorna had asked him to marry her. Yesterday they had gone together and bought an engagement ring, the geologic geeks in them not picking a stone with the most flawless look, but one with a unique impurity that they both identified together. It was sort of fitting, actually, that they didn't pick a perfect diamond. It was as much a symbol of who they were as the fiery red theme Scott and Jean had chosen for theirs. Alex had teased Lorna that she should be buying him a ring, since she had done that asking, but had relented with playful reluctance when the metal parking meter they were standing by at the time began to bend ever so slightly. Besides, she may have had to the proposing, but Alex had the hard part of this whole thing. He had to tell the twins. Wanda he wasn't afraid of... Pietro, however... He'd asked to see them both, and for the past half hour had been making small talk in their extra-dimensional apartment, sipping some strong tea of an exotic brew that he'd never had. Pietro was clearly getting impatient, answering his inquiries about their health, and the chat about the warm August weather with short abrupt sentences, spoken in that just- a- hair- too- fast voice he used when his dander was up. He had to make his move before Pietro threw him out in frustration, right? Right. Ok, here goes. "Um, so... something happened last night, and I wanted to talk to you two about it." Alex ran his hands through his hair, his image inducer disguise moving as if it was real, "Um, you know that I haven't been the best for your sister, and things aren't like always perfect..." God, he wanted a drink so bad right now... "But, I love her, and I owe her not only my life, but my soul. She saved me more times than I can count and not just in battle... Um... and, she seems to feel the same about me, because... she asked me to marry her and I.. and I said yes. I want to spend the rest of my life with her, someday raise a family, someday be able to give her everything she wants, everything she needs. But... I understand my flaws, and that you two are her family. I'm... I guess I'm asking for permission to marry her." Pietro looked at the man with his false face squinted up in earnest nervousness. He folded his arms over his chest, and without giving his twin sister a chance to speak, perhaps not even a chance to think, he said, "Out of the question. You are not worthy of Lorna. You've proven it time and time again. Lorna is blinded by whatever spell you have cast over her. As her brother it is my duty to watch out for her. No. You cannot have her as your wife, and if I had my way, you would not have her in your life at all." |

Reality Warping
|
JP between Wanda, Pietro, and Alex Wanda stared ahead, lost in thought, as Pietro folded his arms across his chest in stubborn defiance. She knew that look; Pietro’s feet were planted and would stare down an army before relenting. Although Alex and Pietro weren’t glaring at each other nose to nose, the air filled with a sudden tension. “Alex, what will you do if we withhold our permission,” she asked, looking at their first real friend since coming into this strange life. Alex hadn't expected this, to be honest. He had assumed that Pietro would be more concerned with Lorna's happiness than his anger at him. Wanda asked her question, and not looking away from where Pietro glared at him like he was ready to leap for his throat, Alex answered, "I... honestly don't know, Wanda. I love your sister, and this was her choice, so clearly she loves me. I came to you two because I respect you and your traditions..." "You have no understanding of our traditions," Pietro snapped. Continuing as if Pietro had not interrupted, Alex said, "But, I think ultimately what makes Lorna happiest is what I will do." Pietro threw up his arms, "You see!" he ranted, "Our opinion means nothing to him, my sister! He is here to flout his carelessness in our faces!" “Things between us and Lorna… are not easy, you know that.” Wanda tilted her head and looked at Alex, that rare sparkle of intelligence dancing behind her eyes. Seeing Pietro open his lips, she jumped ahead of him; “Pietro,” she warned, never before stepping in so blatantly to call her twin down. Turning back to Alex, she picked up as though the aside to Pietro had not happened. “And you would do anything to prevent any further rift, would you not?” His head lowered and he sighed heavily. "Wanda," Alex said, "I've hurt her enough. If there was a way to make things right, I would. I don't want her to be at odds with you, I don't want her to lose her relationship with you. But, I am not going to give her up without a fight." Ignoring his sister's warning admonishment, Pietro growled, "A fight is what you will have then! I went too easy on you before because I had some modicum of respect for your problems. That respect is gone." “But you still have respect for our traditions. We are not barbarians who scuffle in the dirt to solve a problem.” She gave a casual shrug of her shoulders, “besides, that would hardly be fair. No,” she said decisively, “there is only one thing to do.” Around Wanda reality shimmered and wavered like ripples from a thrown rock into a still pond. Getting to her feet, the old world trappings of the twins’ home fell away, giving Pietro and Alex the view of standing in a starless void… an infinity of nothing. From where ever they happened to be at that moment in time: sleeping, playing a video game, eating tacos, or just walking down the street minding their own business, the members of X-Factor disappeared from the real world to reappear, one by one, near Pietro and Alex. “Many of you have called X-Factor a family. But while the affection is there, a family has a mama and papa whose word is law, to settle squabbles; we have neither. We are more like the caravan Pietro and I grew up in,” she faced them, her fingers interlaced, “a tight community. And when two of us have differences,” she gestured toward Pietro and Alex, in case the tension, so deep you could cut it with a knife, was missed, “there is … arbitration.” Around them, a courtroom solidified; a gallery of chairs for the audience, a speaking platform in the center of the room, and a high judge’s chair overseeing the court. “The judge was the wise woman, who sees the truth. And as no eyes are keener than mine, I will judge. Everyone, take your seats,” Wanda said as she made her way to the Judge’s bench. Alex didn't have the chance to object or reply, because at Wanda's command of her strange and amazing powers the world... changed. A... a court room? They were going to try him? For what? The right to marry Lorna? His anger was beginning to rise, and he forced it down, forced himself into control. They really had no right to prevent this. Lorna was their sister, sure, but she wasn't a gypsy. He didn't have to follow their gypsy rules to... hey, wait a minute... everyone was popping in here, but the one person this concerned. "Lorna doesn't have a say in what's going on?" he asked. "Once it is decided if you are even worthy of her, she will have her say," Pietro scoffed, "It is our way. You must face her family first." Jonny, who had been having a bite to eat, suddenly found himself in what was apparently some kind court room, with Piet and Alex looking like they were about to throw down in the middle of the room. He glanced up at Wanda's speech and rolled his eyes. "Never a dull moment around here, huh?" At least she had brought his tacos along with him. OOC - Wanda brought all of X-Factor to the courtroom (except Lorna). This is not an obligation for you to post. If you're swamped and have no time, we'll just assume your character is simply there but not has no comment. Or feel free to have your character upset that Wanda took such a liberty... and yell at the mentally unstable reality warper. Go ahead, ;) make my day |

You know, when Alexander Legard had woken up late that morning, he was really looking forward to a pretty nice normal day. Sure, maybe there'd be some mutant related hijinks, who could tell, but other than that, he was really counting on not being summoned to some sort of horrible pocket dimension anytime in his immediate future. Stop by that falafel stand and chat up the nice girl behind the cart, or perhaps he'd stop by and listen to the auditions for the new musical entertainment at that cafe he liked. Maybe see if Sarah was around. Chances were he'd meet up with someone for dinner, then it was patrol time. Being stolen away by a mad goddess didn't really fit into any of those plans. But stolen away he was. It could have been worse really, looking at it from a purely objective stand point, it really could have. Only twenty minutes earlier he had just been drying off from his late morning shower, and no amount of reality warping would erase that happy memory from X-factor's mind. Luckily, Alex was all nice and dry when the call came. Nice and dry and fully clothed. He was just taking his first bite into his second of Jonny's gourmet tacos when suddenly the scenery around him shifted strange and in fact entirely changed beneath his very feet. For a second he was just dumbfounded about this whole situation he had found him self caught in. He looked around desperatly for some kind of explanation as to why he was suddenly in the middle of what appeared to be a horrible void of nothingness when just seconds ago he was safe and sound in Mutant town. Then he spotted Wanda, and his concerns were immediately relieved, only to be replaced with more pressing ones. Mainly, what the hell was going on? Slowly, the rest of his team was popping up in this barren hellscape, what did that mean? What was she trying to accomplish here, other than solidify her place as queen of the unbalanced individuals who made up X-factor? Then the witch started speaking, and things became much more clear and much more confusing as she spoke, so the usual with Wanda Maximoff. All around the aerokinetic, shapes began to take form out from the nothingness. Slowly these shapes formed a scene. A courtroom. Gulp. He'd seen Star Trek, he knew all about mad reality manipulating beings and their crazy mock trials. But who was on trial this time? Was Wanda putting X-factor on trial? Didn't she realize that she was apart of that team too? Then Legard figured out it was between Pietro and Alex, with a little help from wanda. But what else was new! They were always fighting about something, they were practically an old married couple! Why was Alex letting her pull something like this now? Legard still didn't know why they were here! Summers briefly spoke up about Lorna, but that didn't help matters really. This magic business was just fucking ridiculous. "Woah woah woah, what the hell is this even about? Who gave you the right to just grab us and stick us in your weird gypsy court to settle your family issues?" The young man then remembered that he remained a human and not a muskrat purely because Wanda willed it. He promptly took his seat and finished with "Uh, your honor." Full recovery. |

Jet was on the afternoon patrol settling some sort of agreement that two other mutants in town had. A third party was originally brought in to keep things official. Apparently the third party didn't hold up their end of the bargain. The blonde rubbed her temples and raised her free hand. “Wait wait wait. Hold on.” She took in a deep breath and continued, “You two had an agreement... and when the other guy reneged... you two decide to fight with each other and not the other guy who was suppose to help keep this deal together?” Jet rolled her eyes to a close and sighed. “Okay you two... this is how I see it. You can either settle this like men should settle it by coming up-” Jet sentence was cut off as she disappeared in front of the two men who were previously angry with each other. They held blanks stares at one another. The blonde continued on in a court room with, “-with some...” Opening her eyes and looking around to find that she had been moved to a court room. Her words continued on with a slower speed when Jet realized she had been moved. “...Sort of... new agreement.” Looking around slightly confused the blonde said slightly shocked, “I was in mid-sentence.” Looking around she saw Wanda as a judge, the other members of X-Factor, and a bunch of chairs. It looked just like a courtroom. Everyone holding there reactions Jet was just simply confused and wondered what was going on. Wanda told them to take their seats. Alex and Pietro were talking about Lorna. Looking around she saw that Lorna wasn't with them. The blonde was just confused. Leaning towards Jon who was the closest to her at the moment and she whispered, “What's going on?” It looked like he was caught right at lunchtime when he appeared with the rest of them. Legard didn't look too happy to be there. |

Madison had been on a walk, he and Ilsa. Not a patrol per se, just a nice, simple stroll about town. It was a pleasant, if not hot, summer day, sun in the sky, people out and about on the streets - he'd been engaging in these afternoon sabbaticals, often times inviting Wanda or whoever was available to go on these walks. Sometimes though, he just went on them on his own, he and the dog, so he could sort out his thoughts alone. But that was then and this was now. And now, both he and the dog suddenly found themselves back home. "You know, if you guys wanted to see me, you could have just call... oh," the smirk faded from his face as he saw the situation. Tensions were high, and the rooftop was set up like a... like a courtroom? That didn't make sense... but then again, she rarely did make sense, and that was one of her charms. Oblivious to the reasons why Pietro and Alex were moments away from coming to blows, Ilsa padded her way over and sat down between the two of them, looking back and forth with what passed for confusion on her face. They weren't supposed to be upset with each other as far as she could tell. That wasn't the way it was supposed to work. "What's going on her- uh, okay, okay. Sitting down," Madison said and cautiously took a seat. He glanced over at Jet and Legard and with nothing more than his eyebrows and a slight twitch of his shoulders, gave the universal sign for "I have no idea what's going on". |

He had been in his room doing various things but at the moment he had decided to do finish folding some of his laundry. He was in mid stride of placing a pair of his boxers in the pail when he faded in and placed it on Jet's lap. As he reached over to grab another and found instead that he was no longer in his room but a court room. He pulled first out the headphones of his mp3 player and looked around a bit bewildered. "So... " He then quickly picked up the boxers before continuing and hiding them behind his back as his face slightly blushed. "What's all the commotion about?" It took a second for the shock to wear off but he took his seat quickly enough as hopes that the next person to appear would draw attention away from the fact that everyone just saw his underwear. He looked over at everyone not totally sure what was going on as he could tell they were at a loss as well by there expressions. It wasn't how he got there as he was sure her Honor was responsible. He was laughing maniacally on the inside and was having a hard time keeping a straight face but was managing somehow. It wasn't that the situation was that funny it was just that he was embarrassed as hell and didn't know what to do. He brushed his hand over his face as he took a deep breath and centered himself. From the only ideas of how Pietro and Alex were staring at each other someone was being tried for something. The who and the what wasn't clear but if Pietro was involved it was probably something being blown out of proportion. Though with Wanda presiding over them he would be kept calm enough and wouldn't be simply a I don't like you you're guilty that Pietro would give. Soon enough though when everyone arrived they would know what was going on so all he could do was relax and wait for what was undoubtedly going to be something worth watching. Either that or getting right into the middle of. Though for once Pietro's anger not being aimed at him was something of a shock. He must have done something really bad to get that much but since Alex still had all his teeth it probably wasn't something too drastic. Though in a random swing of his mind jumping to a totally unneeded topic he now thought he knew what it must have felt like for his creatures to be summoned from wherever it was he pulled them from. It was rather strange though that he never really saw them doing laundry or cooking dinner or even getting out of the shower. He shrugged it off as focused on what was going on. He didn't want to miss anything. |

Thermo-Chemical Generation / Flight

Time was a valuable thing, but whenever he could, Shane always made the effort to power-nap in the day, especially if there was a late shift which would disrupt his nocturnal slumbers. Seeing as today was going to be one of those days (early morning, but on the brightside he would get to see day break over the city, a view that was breath-taking, even on hundredth time he saw it), Shane was propped up on the sofa of X-Factors communal area, a slightly battered green one that had seen better days, mostly before Guido had reclined on it and left a permenant groove. His head craned slightly in as his body comformed to fit in, body twisted into an S shape. However, when Wanda dragged all of X-Factor from their various positions, from eating to working, Shane also came along, snoring as well. However, almost instantly, his horizontal body became vertical and with a start, he awoke, giving a snort as his body jumped. It certainly wasn't a good sign to be sleeping in court and Wanda's magic had awoken him from his sweet dreams. Well, as sweet as any dream where everyone spoke in gibberish while they had subtitles underneath their mouths, also in gibberish. Still, it had been more eccentric than freaky. Rubbing his eyes, it took him a few seconds to realise what exactly was going on with their surroundings, the fact that it was some kind of court slowly making sense to him. However, he had no idea why this was till he spotted that there was a few people missing from the crowd, mainly Lorna, the green haired member of X-Factor. Wanda herself was obviously preceeding the events, but Shane still had no clue what was going to happen until Wanda explained the events. At least there was a reason why it was happening, rather than Wanda watching Judge Judy and having herself a little fun with them. Still, front row seats in a trial was always a good deal, even if your friend was up there. How the trial would work, Shane wasn't sure. He guessed that it was going to be one of simple evidence and statements, rather than one where they had prosecutors and all that official buisness. Shane watched in earnest, wondering who would be the first to say their piece on the matter and whether they would put their case with Pietro or Alex. Shane guessed that most of the people would vouch for the normally friendlier Havok (brainwashing and rampaging through Mutant Town and trying to destroy civilisation for a god-like creature excused) but when it came to matters of the heart like this, all bets were off. But it was clear it was all going to end in tears. Whether they would be of sorrow or joy, that was yet to be known. |
Shane seems like a cool guy. When he keeps his shirt on, that is.

Aerokinesis, Audiokinesis / Flight

The starless void melted into a scene like one of those courtroom dramas she’d seen on television once. The looks on her teammates faces was enough for her to tell they too were surprised to suddenly be there. This was Wanda’s doing. It wasn’t as though Violey disliked Wanda’s worlds away from Earth; she just wished there had been more of a warning. That is all. Violey hadn’t been in the middle of anything important like sleeping or eating. She was just checking up on one of the families at the boarding house. With luck Brian and his mom survived Apocalypse. Some nice people told them to hide in the tunnels and travel north. No questions were asked. It was act or be killed or converted or worse. It ended up the nice people had been directed to the tunnels by someone from X-factor. Violey was just happy they survived. Brian was a nice boy with a good mother. When Brian’s mother opened the door to Violey’s knock a surprise and slightly confused looked appeared on her face. A brief second ago she could have sworn she’d seen the aerokinetic but no one stood there anymore. Strange, however this was Mutant Town. Why, just last week her son and she saw something much stranger than a disappearing X-factor member while going to the corner store. “Wanda presides over a family issue in a gypsy court.” Violey stated aloud to herself as if she was trying to grasp what Legard just spoke against. Was this why she and the rest of X-factor had been spirited away for; a family matter? Wasn’t everyone in the room considered family? (Where was Lorna?) With an impatient sigh Violey took a seat when Wanda directed them to do so. Alister discretely hid the boxer shorts he’d been folding as he got summoned. Shane woke-up with a start. Jet came in during mid sentence (which Violey thought funny). Why, though, why was Lorna not with them? This had to do with her in some way, shape, or form or why wouldn’t she be present. “A trial concerning Lorna is this what where’re gather for?” |

Everyone needs a hobby. Guido had a number of hobbies that he regularly partook in, but one of his all time favorites was cooking. It never hurt to be a big fan of food in the first place, and Guido was actually fairly good at putting a recipe together with just the right amount of that extra touch. Today he was in the kitchen at the X-Factor, his Kiss the Cook apron tied snugly around his girth while he slowly stirred a family Italian recipe on the stovetop. The smell of garlic and onion pervaded the air, along with the subtle hints of oregano and basil and the hearty smell of fresh tomatoes that had been cooked down. Wiping his hands on a white dish towel, Guido smiled in satisfaction as he grabbed the spoon. He’d been working on it for almost two hours. The sauce was almost done. “Time for a little testy…” He bent forward while bringing the spoon to his lips, but before the sauce could touch his tongue he disappeared. The spoon fell to the floor with a tomato sauce splash and Guido reappeared in what seemed to be a courtroom. He was still wearing the apron, and he was bent over with his lips puckered and his empty fist near his face. It looked extremely odd. With a strange feeling that he might just be losing his marbles, Guido looked around the courtroom. “I object!” He shouted. Man, that sauce would have been so good. And it was still simmering on the counter somewhere without anyone to stir it. Sitting down with his arms folded, Guido frowned. “Someone owes me a dinner, that’s all I’m sayin’.” |

It was an eyeblink and the others began to appear, but for Pietro it was eternity. In truth, he had not meant for this, not wanted this to go this far, but he had never had the ability to stop, ever. As a child, his did not know he could, so as an adult he did not know how. His emotions, his actions, they ruled him as much as a man could be ruled, and Pietro, had almost been Alex's friend, couldn't figure out how to pull back the hatred he felt for him now... but not just him, his actions, what those actions had done to the world, what the world was now in general. In his desperation to make the world better, he was making himself worse, and didn't understand it, wouldn't believe it, couldn't stop it. "Woah woah woah, what the hell is this even about? Who gave you the right to just grab us and stick us in your weird gypsy court to settle your family issues?... Uh, your honor." Legard snapped, irate but quickly falling into place, apparently as the inappropriateness of his outburst sank into his thick skull. "This may have begun as a family issue," Pietro growled, his eyes never leaving Summers's face as he spoke, "But does not remain so." He reached out, moving with the speed that he was gifted with, and ripped the image inducer from around Alex's neck. He threw it down and brought his foot down on it with the strength that he so rarely showed, crushing it in a shower of sparks and smoke. The hologram shielding Alex's face vanished, revealing the pale grey tone it now held, the white hair streaked now with the returning blond. Alex didn't flinch away, staring straight at Pietro with barely disguised fury. "Look at him," Pietro said, addressing the team with contempt, "This is the man you wish to have as your leader. He remains scarred by his sins, and yet, has offered no word of redemption to us, to any of us. He comes back to us, as he always does after one of these increasingly frequent absences, without apology or excuse, sets himself up in his office and goes back as if nothing happened. Tra la la, I have murdered millions and care little. Now, he seeks to insinuate himself upon my sister, to marry her, and forget that only months ago, he tried to add her murder to his death total. He is not fit for her, he is not fit for X-Factor, and he is not fit to walk the face of this earth that he helped to destroy. Alex Summers should be permanently nulled and thrown into the deepest hole SHIELD has for criminals like him." Pietro folded his arms and said, "This world suffers too much when he is free... it suffers and I am growing tired of suffering with it." |

Madison stayed quiet through Pietro's verbal lashing, and was genuinely surprised at the announcement. Havok had proposed to Polaris? Madison supposed he had been gone all too long, because he missed that one. "Now, hold on a second, just one second please," Madison said as he stood up. Pietro was running his mouth off, spouting out more words than he had knowledge to back up. He wasn't going to defend the constant suffering he knew Summers underwent in regards to War. That was up to Summers himself whether or not he'd do that. But Madison was in a position to defend the man's honor at that. "Summers was never a person of interest as far as Apocalypse was concerned. He..." Madison glanced over to Summers, took a deep breath and continued. "Miss Dane was who Apocalypse really wanted. I don't know what happened when Summers was acquired, but... I can only assume he offered himself to spare her. Now, I'm pretty sure that if things had gone according to Apocalypse's plan and Miss Dane was made into the Horseman of War, you wouldn't be saying these things about her. You wouldn't be suggesting she be locked up and the key thrown away. And believe me - considering Miss Dane's power levels, were she War, the death toll would have been so much higher as to be ridiculous." It was a small concession, yes, but in this case, Madison felt that he had to offer any concession he possibly could. |

"Woah woah woah, what the hell is this even about? Who gave you the right to just grab us and stick us in your weird gypsy court to settle your family issues?" Wanda cocked an eyebrow at Legard’s outburst, which turned into a satisfied nod as he took a seat. "Uh, your honor." Pietro’s condemnation of Alex was scathing… brutal, he was using words to batter their sister’s lover when he couldn’t use his fists; of the two, Wanda couldn’t say which way was kinder to the man. Her lips parted to speak but Madison was already on his feet, speaking with passion as he told them all how Alex had (probably) sacrificed himself to save their sister. “This is why you are all here,” Wanda spoke, not raising her voice yet her thick European words carried throughout the room to everyone. “You see the state of things. Bad blood will poison and kill our clan… our group, if it is left to fester and eat away at us. You have all heard what Pietro Maximoff has to say.” “Alexander Summers,” she looked at the ashen faced zombie in front of them, so different than the blonde haired, blue-eyed football jock he had been when he started X-Factor, “you want everything known; to bring the… the laundry out to dry, yes?” She said and gave the briefest of curt nods; as if to say that it could not be any other way. “You are all here… to hear and talk.” Her eyes scanned the startled members of X-Factor, who had definitely not anticipated anything like this when they got up this morning. “Who will speak next, for or against, Alex Summers?” |

When Alister place a pair of boxers on her lap Jet raised her hands up to her side giving the universal sign to everyone that she was not going to touch the Devil Boy's underwear. All the while giving him a sly smile. He tried to draw the attention away from the boxer incident, and Jet kept quiet. Everyone else that came in had their own thing going on before being pulled into the 'courtroom'. Guido said that someone had better owe him dinner, the blond turned around and said to him, “I'll make dinner one night if you save me whatever it is you're cookin.” She wasn't a grand chef like Shane, or even Guido, but there was a few specialty dishes she knew how to make. Pietro then spoke, and broke Alex's hologram. He told them to look at him, it was obvious the speedster was upset. After he was finished talking Jet didn't know about everyone else but she felt horribly uncomfortable. Madison was the first to speak for Alex. Stating that Alex had most likely become War to save Lorna. After Madison had finished Wanda spoke. It made more sense as to why they were there. It was Alex's trial, the Scarlet Witch addressed the team asking who would speak for or against Alex next. Up until then Jet had remained silent. Looking at the rest of the team through the corners of her eyes she didn't know what everyone else thought. She stood up to speak first. “I didn't join during the best of times. Alex was under the influence of Shadow X. It seems that compared to everyone else Alex has had the worst of bad times. Shadow X's pet, War... maybe not so much when he disappeared from Krakoa, but we can't really blame him. Lorna and Alex couldn't remember us. Yeah Alex has been gone from us, but it hasn't been for pleasure. Not really. Like any leader he's suffered hardships, and we've all had our past sins. We're all here for our own reasons, redemption, a need to help, whatever our reason no one else ever held it against us. Not from within the team itself.” “No one judged any other members of the group. In that time... I don't know about everyone else, but I felt like... we became a family. A very different sort of family, but we've looked out for each other helped one another in times of need. It seems like the question is abandoning Alex or keep going how we have been, right?” It wasn't the same as when her blood family disowned the blonde for what was in her blood, but it felt terribly similar. “Pietro, no offense and I mean that... really no offense, but everyone is always scarred by their sins, even you. I think it defines who we are. Makes us into heroes or cowards.” The blonde looked at Alex and didn't lie for one second, “Alex, sometimes your anger fits scare the hell out of me. Especially when I went to first visit you after everything had happened. But never for one second would I believe you would do anything if there wasn't good intentions behind it. You killed a lot of people as War. But that's just it, it wasn't Alex Summers, Leader of X-Factor who did that. It was War. You're trying so hard, and for me at least it's plain to see. If SHIELD ever did permanently nulled and threw you in the deepest hole for criminals... Count on me to be one of the first ones there to bust you out. Because I'm going to continue to follow behind you.” Jet took a deep breath to continue and kept her gaze on Alex, “This goes for everyone when I say: For the times you helped save my life... plus so much more, I will do my best to help you too. Everything in my power. I'm not going to cut you off or leave in your time of need. We need each other just as much as you need us. I don't care if it makes me look foolish but you can always count on me ...Bossman.” Her eyes flickered for a moment to everyone else. Giving Alex a smile the blonde sat down and gave a quiet sigh. |

Sometimes, Alexander really hated working at X-factor. It was really just superficial hate that flared up during the especially ridiculous periods that the team of mutant vigilantes would occasionally go through, but there none the less. Like that time when everyone was a child? Yeah, Legard had pretty much barricaded himself in his room for that whole debacle. He had no regrets. The only thing worse than the Maximoffs as their adult selves was them several years in the past it seemed. Although when they were younger they never conducted mock show trials and kidnapped their teammates to take part in their gypsy customs. Or maybe they did. Alex was up in his room the whole time after all. Wanda was apparently a just and merciful god, for she seemed satisfied when Legard relented his objections and took his seat. He would live yet another day with his thumbs intact it seemed. But despite what Legard could only assume was a mutual fear of the Scarlet Witch, it didn't take long before order fell apart again in the court. Which was probably just the way Wanda wanted it. There was Pietro, ripping off Alex's image inducer to make his point. It wasn't a pretty sight. Obviously their fearless leader hadn't recovered as much from his ordeal as Legard had assumed. It seemed like a pretty cheap shot to Alexander, but then again it was effective in brining all those memories of what Havok's possessed body had done to the people of Mutant Town to the front. That didn't really convince Alexander to back him up though, especially after his tirade about nulling and imprisoning Summers. Not cool. Of course, the mutants of X-factor, the white hats that they were, rallied behind their leader without a moments hesitation. Maddison didn't normally say much, but still waters can run deep, and that seemed to be the rule with Box. Alexander was genuinely impressed with him, both for his stinging rebuttal and for standing up to Pietro like that. Legard was glad he had (sort of) helped the machine man get his humanity back, because he certainly seemed to be using it with gusto. Humanity was something that Jet had never had a problem with as far as the aerokinetic could tell, and it didn't really come as a surprise when she stood up for the boss as well. The fact that she did it in some strange pocket court dimension had yet to stop surprising Legard, but what she said almost made that horrible place between worlds feel like they were back at home. It was very much an Oscar worthy performance, and frankly it kind of intimidated Alex a bit. What could he say that would top that? "Uh, not to speak out of turn here or anything" Alex tentatively began, watching Wanda very carefully as he stood up from his seat "but are we talking about whether Alex is fit to lead, or whether he's fit to marry Lorna? Because I don't think anyone of us care about what Alex does with another consenting adult. Er, I mean we care about him and his decisions, but I guess he can do what he likes. However, and Alex, really don't take this wrong way" here Alexander turned to address his leader personally "but maybe Pietro sort of has a point? I mean, I don't have any complaints about your leadership ability oh captain my captain, but your body does seem to get influenced by some outside force a lot more than most people's do. I mean, I'm not blaming you! Of course not, but it kind of sends X-factor into like, a small breakdown every time it happens. I really don't know the point I'm trying to make here. Oh, uh, maybe delegate? So we have someone ready to jump in in case this happens again. It doesn't seem fair to keep shoveling around John. I don't know. I don't want you to not be our fearless leader anymore, but I just think we should be prepared, you know?" |

Dinner was quickly forgotten about as the purpose for this forced meeting became crystal clear. In a rush of wind, Pietro snatched up Alex and whisked him to the forefront of the courtroom. Instinctively Guido sat forward in his chair, his muscles taut and ready. He actually gasped a little at the way Alex was being treated. First the image inducer was ripped off of him to reveal the dead gray state of Alex’s flesh, and then Pietro began to verbally flog Alex in front of everyone who cared about him. The speech was bitter, contemptuous and determined to bring Alex to a humiliated ruin. Guido hardly heard his team mates rebuttals. His fist was tightening into a rock solid ball as he watched Alex get pummeled by Pietro’s words and though he couldn’t be certain, he was pretty sure they were hitting some already pretty sore spots. “Nah,” he said standing up. He punched through the wooden rail that separated him from the main floor of the courtroom. It sent an explosion of wood fragments outward that rained down on the floor like tiny toothpicks. “This ain’t happenin’. I want no part of this kangaroo court.” Glaring down at Pietro and Wanda he was as furious as he’d ever been. Despite the constant wisecracks, despite the usual light-hearted demeanor that he preferred to employ, despite all of his known tomfoolery...despite the Kiss the Cook apron, Guido looked truly menacing. “Alex is my leader cuz he’s everything you ain’t.” Words like self-righteous popped into mind. "And this is about tha last thing we need right now." |
