The reason they were gathered had began as a family issue Pietro said. With Wanda’s help all of X-Factor expect for Lorna became dragged into it. There were better ways to spend an afternoon than being shocked of the proceedings at hand. Pietro’s argument spewed with a bit of hate and maybe some superiority. When Havok’s greyish skin tone was revealed Violey covered her mouth with surprise. He did bear physical scars of his time as War. Why hide them? Even though his character fell a few pegs in her book, she still saw him as the leader. Despite herself she couldn’t help think that Pietro was correct in his tirade but if it did come to that Havok wouldn’t be the only one locked up with his powers taken away. Madison’s augment turned the tables, so to speak, on Pietro. If Lorna had been taken instead of Havok? This whole trial, even if it did reveal true feelings and answer questions never asked, was a joke. Everyone who went along with it was amusing a man who acted like an over-protecting, selfish child. Contently Violey listened keeping a passive face so not to give away her thoughts. She listened to Jet’s defense and Alexander’s suggestions for a change in leadership styles. In her mind she formed arguments on not only whether she would talk but say. Everyone made fine points but it wasn’t just Havok’s leadership on the line at the moment. That was when Guido smashed through the balustrade startling her. After Guido’s outburst when the last of the wood shavings fell to the ground, Violey sat straight up and cleared her throat. “Guido is right in the reasoning. This is the last thing we need,” she said calmly leaning her back against her chair. “Since we are ‘ere until when it is seen fit we can leave then we do not ‘ave much of a choice.” “Our leader is Havok, yes," she stated surely. "By both Jet and Alexander the fact our leader ‘as a strange tendency to go wayward was made so why not make Havok a figurehead? To govern X-factor with a committee will allow us to function as efficient if our leader is to become distant from us again.” There had to be more at sake than Havok’s leadership in this trial. Only a suggestion going off of Alexander’s points was made. Violey stated more than agreed that Havok was their leader. Questioning their leader’s leadership would create wider rifts between everyone so she couldn’t wait for this charade to be over. Whatever was to be decided would hurt at least one of the members. "Wanda and Pietro are siblings to Lorna," Violey said deciding to continue with a change in tone. "But she is an American. Like I they ultimately do not 'ave a say to whom she chooses to marry. So be it if the continued squabbling leads to their elopement." |

"Everybody just calm the hell down," Jon spat, "Neutral corners, ok, neutral corners." He went over to Alex's side, Alex who hadn't said a word yet in response to Pietro's attack or even acknowledged the destruction of his Image Inducer. "Are you ok?" Alex nodded, just once, his expression never changing, his eyes still locked on Pietro. He was seething, but only Jon, standing in the aura of his heat realized just how close he was to exploding. Nevertheless, Jon, patted Alex on the shoulder and turned to Pietro, "You're a hypocrite, Maximoff, a fucking hypocrite. You claim this is a family matter, but the one family member this seems to concern is missing. This has nothing to do with Alex and your sister, this has nothing to do with Alex's conversion into War, or his leadership, or X-Factor at all. You just want to punish him for whatever's been up your ass lately. Whatever the hell happened during Apocalypse, whatever started this anger and misery, Alex is a victim like everyone else." Jon folded his arms, "Does that mean we forget? No, because then it can happen again, but Madison said it right. These scars Alex has he got trying to protect your sister, your sister that you care so much about, your sister who was the one who reached him, who he broke his conditioning for. I was programmed to be a killer too, and I broke my training for Mina. It's not easy, Maximoff, it hurts, it seems impossible, and it is a long road to salvation, but when you do it for love, you'll walk that road, and Alex loves Lorna, probably as much as I have ever seen anyone love someone. You give a damn about your sister, and you should be able to realize this." Turning to Wanda, he pointed at her, "And you, Wanda, you should not be encouraging this. You, of all people, should know that when it comes to his sisters, Piet isn't at all rational. He loves you both so much he can't see past his rage. You should stand on the side of your sister's love, not your brother's hate." He returned to his place, saying, "This has nothing to do with X-Factor, and there is nothing wrong with the way we're being run. We stand, and we we will continue stand. I'm not leading you, and I won't ever lead you, not for good, but when Alex needs us, I'm there. You all are. Most of us are in this because we needed salvation. It would be against all of that to turn our backs on him because he suffered while trying to do what's right." He looked over his shoulder at Pietro, "And you're just pissed off that Lorna isn't doing what you tell her to. She ain't Wanda, Speedy. She's an American girl. Keep this nonsense up, and you're just going to drive her away and like Violey said, they'll elope and you won't be able to stop it." |

Alister wasn't yet ready to stand and give his say as fast as Jeffries or Jet. He wasn't very good when it came to words and as such he wanted to make sure he picked them very carefully. He listened to each member stand up and defend Alex like he knew they would but some even attacked Wanda. That kinda upset Alister and it kinda showed on his face. How was she not supposed to side with her brother since they were both raised in the same culture with the same traditions. She wasn't even really siding with him or it would have simply been Pietro's way and that would have been that. She was trying to help Alex the best way she knew how and that was having each member of there extended family try to explain to her brother exactly what they saw in him and why they believed in him so that Pietro would understand why he's worthy to marry Lorna. When Jon expressed his feelings on the matter it was time for Alister to do the same and he arose to his feet to address the court. "First Jon Wanda isn't taking any one's side. She's doing this because it's her tradition he culture her way of doing things. Telling them that Lorna's an American and doesn't have to follow there ways is true but only if you allow them to follow there culture as well or you yourself are being a hypocrite as well. Your honor." He gave a slight bow of the head to Wanda as he also turned to Pietro. "Like the others I know how hard it is when Alex disappears. I was asked to join X-Factor by him when I woke up after a rather embarrassing incident in what I now call my home. It's Alex we all chose to follow and all of us allowed him to be our leader, and just because he's stumbling you want to have him removed, nulled, and locked up. The things he did weren't by his will. Remove any of our memories and emotions and we are all capable of what he did and some of us so much more." He took a breathe trying to keep his emotions from spilling over into what he was trying to say. He knew emotions wouldn't be able to convince Pietro and more than likely even well spoken words may not as well. "Now as to address the concerns of Alex and Lorna I have to agree that you don't have much of a recourse in stopping them. They are in love and nothing stops love. No amount of strength, speed, or power can stop it. It's a force unto itself and if you attempt to stop it all you are really going to do is push them further away from you. You may even distance yourself so much from Lorna that you loose her all together and I know you don't want that." Alister was looking directly at Pietro now holding his hands behind his back in a stationary stance. He knew full well how protective of his family he was and the fact that his pushing on Lorna could and more than likely would have consequences may not have even flickered into his mind. "Lorna wasn't raised by your people she doesn't understand your ways. All she's ever known is what she's been taught and how she's lived. I know you want to protect her but if what Jeffries said is true and Alex took her place, gave up his own life to protect her than isn't that in and of itself enough reason to respect there decision. That Alex is willing to throw himself against an unstoppable unknown force to protect her." He didn't know how Pietro was going to respond but hoped he'd see reason. |

Reality Warping

The trial was pandemonium, people leaping from their seats, pointing fingers vehemently protesting this or that; really, it was encouraging to see so many people taking an interest in something that affected them greatly. Wanda leaned back in the judge’s chair and watched an unseen cloud of words and emotions collect over their heads, like smoke in a pool hall; although, she once saw a surprisingly accurate interpretation while watching Alice in Wonderland, the Disney version, where a caterpillar-man blew out smoke into words – Who are you? In the gallery, Guido’s fist made the railing shatter into kindling. It was odd to see the amiable man, in a Kiss the Cook apron, be so violent; his bulging muscles tensed at the perceived attack on Havok. “Alex is my leader cuz he’s everything you ain’t.” Words like self-righteous popped into mind. "And this is about tha last thing we need right now," the big man shouted menacing, until Jonny leapt to his feet. Anger and irritation swirled around everyone like an unseen, unfelt hurricane. Turning to Wanda, [Jonny] pointed at her, "And you, Wanda, you should not be encouraging this. You, of all people, should know that when it comes to his sisters, Piet isn't at all rational. He loves you both so much he can't see past his rage. You should stand on the side of your sister's love, not your brother's hate." She fully expected Pietro to turn and in a blurry of fury, send his fist into Jonny’s jaw, but it was Alister who rose to her defense. As sweet and kind and loving as Alister is, and had always been, he wasn’t a fighter, his heart always sought peacefully resolutions to conflicts. He believed to the essential goodness and fairness of people, which made it all the more remarkable that he stood up to the trained killer, who could undoubted end his life in the space of two breaths, if he chose to. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as she watched his performance, the performances of all of them, in fact. “…. I know you want to protect her but if what Jeffries said is true and Alex took her place, gave up his own life to protect her than isn't that in and of itself enough reason to respect there decision. That Alex is willing to throw himself against an unstoppable unknown force to protect her." “That does count. It says a great deal for and about Alexander Summers,” Wanda nodded slightly as she gazed down at them. “The burdens of leadership are great. A great strain, Alex, is it not? You have heard from those who love you. Heard those who now doubt you.” Wanda propped her elbow on the desk and put rested her chin on her palm. “Your love of Lorna is not in doubt but I do have one question,” she sent her gaze around the courtroom until they all looked at her. “Answer me this… why do you wear that image-thing around your neck… here, in our home? Yes, yes,” she said quickly brushing away an unasked rebuttal with the flick of her hand as she were fanning away errant smoke, “you do not wish to jeopardize the heroic image of X-Factor in the hearts and minds of the people of Mutant Town. They need something, someone to have faith in and if they knew that it was you… who attacked them, they would not trust us… but here,” Wanda spread her arms to encompass all of X-Factor, “you wear it here and show us… us… a false face. If you feel you have no blame for what happened, why do you hide in shame around us?” Silently, unnoticed at in the back of the room, Lorna appeared in time to hear her sister’s question and Alex’s reply. Most of them had been wrong, although that was not their fault. This court wasn’t about Lorna and Alex, that had been already agreed upon, it was about Alex and Pietro. Whether they, or anyone else knew it, both of them were in great pain and needed to get it out in the open, not skulking in the darkness of their own minds. |

He listened as if this was about someone else, as if he wasn't here, but his anger was boiling within him. Alex never looked away from Pietro, accepting the humiliation, the pain, the accusations. There were others who expressed their concerns or defended him, Guido smashing the railings and Jon and Alister going toe to toe. Alex just listened, his eyes focused on Pietro, who he cared for as much as a brother, even now, even knowing that Quicksilver probably hated him at this moment like he had never hated anyone else. He didn't deny that Piet had reason, didn't deny that he had done what he was being called out on, but he was furious that that was was being brought up as a reason not to let him marry Lorna. This shouldn't be between anyone other than him and Lorna... Wanda finally spoke, after the feuding and the fussing had died down, she called this mock court into some semblance of order and asked her question, in a way that was both confrontational and curious at once. He didn't notice Lorna appear, but it wouldn't have mattered. His answer would have been the same. "I wear it because this isn't my face," Alex said, "This is the face I was given by a monster. Since I was five, I've been shuffled around into being what other people wanted me to be, made me be. Todd Blanding, a track star, a mutant, a villain, Cyke's kid brother... a leader... Lorna is the first person who thought Alex Summers was good enough to be. I want to be the man she fell in love with, the man who fell in love with her the moment he saw her, and I can't do that if I still look like the creature who tried to kill her. I'm having difficulty shaking my anger, finding my peace, but if I can look in the mirror, and see the face of who I was before, then I can remember who he was, and there's a chance that one day I can be the man your sister believes I am." |

Mechanical Interaction/Merge

As was the tendency around Wanda, chaos erupted. Guido got up, his tone and posture both angry and threatening. Jonny seemed to be on his side, and Alister launched into a lengthy speech defending the trial. Ilsa, who had been dragged along into this trial by virtue of having been on a walk with Madison at the time, paced nervously and looked amongst the various members of the team with quick, distressed movements. She never liked it when tensions rose amongst everyone, and to be in the midst of such outright hostility between people she was supposed to protect (prompting, Madison imagined, the question of "who to protect" in case of physical violence). For his part, Madison didn't know what to think of it all. Surely, this was some sort of Maximoff tradition, and tradition was very important to the Maximoffs. It was, however, unfair to Alex, who wasput on the spot for all of it, was humiliated, and brow-beaten almost into submission by Pietro. Then Wanda asked the question. The big question, and one that counted for a whole hell of a lot. Why hide his face to his own team? Madison felt he knew, felt he understood, but this time kept quiet, allowing Summers the chance to speak for himself. Hiding the scars of War, to Madison, was a simple matter of denying it to himself more than to everyone else. A way of not being reminded himself of what he had been forced to do. Much the same a reason Madison had for almost immediately mutilating his Machine body upon becoming aware. Deep down, he knew the damage he dealt to the temple was minimal, but he had sacrificed much of his shell for that act, enough so that when he had come to the Mansion, he was physically weaker than his own human body. But he had to do what he could to get rid of the Machine, so he wouldn't have to see it day in and day out. It was no different for Alex, he was sure of that. Of course, Summers's own explanation worked too, but Madison was certain that there was at least a small part of Alex that proved Madison's suspicions right. He was relieved, at least, that no violence had sprung forth. Madison instead looked over to Wanda, with a look that said "I hope you know what you're doing". |

Lorna supposed that she should be used to strange things by now, but suddenly being transported from the streets of Mutant Town into a room which looked like a court with no warning was a little disconcerting. She looked around the room, green eyes wide with shock and confusion, trying to process what was going on. Wanda was speaking and Lorna heard the tail end of her words, the question which was levelled at Alex, who was standing across from Pietro, the two glaring at each other. What on earth was this about? She had no idea why Wanda was questioning Alex in such a manner, with all the other members of X-Factor watching on She was about to step forwards, to demand to know what was going on and come to Alex’s defence but he was speaking, answering Wanda’s question with words that tugged painfully at her heart. Of course she always knew that he struggled with trying to be someone else, as though he was never going to be good enough just being himself, but it was hard to hear it spoken out loud, in front of the team, with him in such a vulnerable position. For Alex there would always be someone or something better than he had to strive towards, and Lorna had very little idea how to truly convince him that it was okay to just be him. It was something he had to work out himself. She doubted being attacked in front of his team would help with that. When Alex finished, Lorna moved forwards, to stand next to Alex. Outrage boiled inside her but she tried to keep her cool, waiting until she found out what was going on. Up close she could see how near he was to losing it, and she slipped her hand into his, gently squeezing his fingers. She tilted her head up to kiss his cheek, for a moment ignoring the rest of the people in the room, her focus completely on Alex, before pulling back to murmur quietly. “I love you, Alex, as you are, I don’t care whether you wear the image inducer or not. I’m going to sort whatever this is out, and then we can go home.” With that said, Lorna turned back to look at her brother, glancing down at the smashed image inducer by his feet and then raised her eyes to her sister, residing over everyone. “Would someone like to tell me what is going on?” She asked, her voice as cool and calm as she could mange it. “And I hope it is a good explanation because if this is what it looks like, I can’t believe that any of you would be so unnecessarily cruel.” |

Still not sure exactly why Alex had to answer for anything, Guido crossed his arms unhappily over his aproned chest as he watched the fiasco continue to unfold. Alex had been kidnapped by some beast and turned into something that looked like technicolor in reverse, and somehow this was all coming down on his head like it was his fault? It had been a mighty long time since he'd been this mad at anyone he'd cared about. If Pietro wasn't technically part of this little group he considered his 'family', he'd squash the little speedster like a bug. But that might not really solve anything, he supposed. Still, this whole thing disgusted him, and he stood by his earlier sentiment wholeheartedly. His even being there at all felt wrong. He felt like a spectator at a mauling. Half-tempted to go forcibly remove Alex from the room, Guido listened to a few more remarks before he completely lost his cool. "Listen, Judge Wapner," he said with a jabbed finger at Pietro. "Alex didn't ask for your hand in marriage." Maybe that was the problem. "You wanna throw a baby fit over it then do it on your own time." He turned toward the door. "Leave me outta it." With tight fists Guido skulked off, muttering something about 'ruined sauce', and 'for nothin'. |

Pietro ignored everyone's defense of Summers, because that was not why he was there. He didn't want this trial, because he knew that he would likely lose it. But he wanted Summers to suffer the consequences of his actions. He wanted him to see that he could not continue the way he was and expect no one to call him on it, expect the world to roll over for him and say 'It is alright, do as you will.' Pietro's anger was out of control and he wanted Havok humiliated. He couldn't help it. He couldn't stop it. Wanda called for reasons regarding the hiding of his face, and Pietro expected some confession of shame, and guilt. Instead he got one of... what was it. It was resignation, it was desperation, it was... Pietro's white brows knit together and his lips pressed into thin angry lines. He opened his mouth to retort, but then Lorna was there, professing love and support to Summer, taking his hand and soothing his anger. She demanded an explanation, and Pietro's arrogant chin lifted higher in his uncontrolled huff. "He would ask for your hand, he must prove himself," he said, "You are blinded with romantic notions, and it is up to your family and your friends to test your man to see if he is worthy. My opinion on the matter is clear. This is an opportunity for everyone else to have their say." He ignored Guido's outburst, dismissing it with a simple, "Even those who deign to say anything of substance." |

With what everyone else was saying and the finger pointing being thrown around it was making Jet's head spin. Then Lorna came in from behind. Giving Alex her support, and demanding an explanation. Pietro explained what it was he was trying to do, and then Guido, having never seen him that angry before, left muttering. Standing up Jet spoke up once again. “Lorna, this went from you and Alex, to how Alex runs the team, to Pietro's anger against Alex. Pietro seems to be trying very hard to turn the rest of us against him and on his side. At least that how it feels. We, in the audience, were pulled into this. And I don't know what this is anymore.” The blonde paused to look at Pietro and spoke, “If I were Alex... I'd be smackin you in the face. This was a low thing to do. And it speaks volumes that he hasn't socked you.” Looking back over to Alex and Lorna to finish, “Whatever you two do, I support you. Alex... image inducer or not, you're still my bossman.” The blonde gave the two a small smile. Jet had steadily gotten more upset as the whole situation happened. She decided to leave before she would say something she would regret. Following shortly behind Guido she shook her head of the situation and gave a small jog to catch up with him. |

This was pretty much the worst thing, what was going on in the courtroom out of space and time. The aerokinetic had generally lived a pretty easy life, he'd be the first to admit that, and things had more or less gone his way most of the time. Or, at the very least, he'd always had some control over whether or not things worked out in his favor. That lifestyle hadn't really prepared him to deal with frustration very well. As soon as he was shipped out to the states though, he'd started his education. That was why he had left Xavier's after all. It had just driven him nuts being surrounded by people who were frankly doing things wrong as far as he was concerned, and not having any sort of real pull to correct them. X-factor was supposed to be different. Most of the time they were. There were just so many things that were grinding Alexander's gears about this show trial. Him being upset about being kidnapped by Wanda and no one really calling her out on it was old news, but as the bickering started to spread amongst the X-facotorites, his resentment of them started to grow. They were acting like a bunch of attention starved teenagers, all shouting empty accusations or meaningless challenges to each other. But the worst part was, Alexander was the only one with the teenager excuse. Well, except for Alix, but she was wasn't one for shouting for attention. For Alex, everyone taking a turn on the soapbox wasn't even the worst part. X-factor wasn't special, it had problems like any other organization. Maybe this was in some ways a good forum to air those grievances. Maybe if anyone was paying attention to anyone else that would actually work! But that seemed like too much to ask, and everywhere Alex looked someone was speaking up only to be rolled over by the next person who thought they had something to say. Nothing was getting accomplished here, not even with the central issue at hand. Although that probably had something to do with no one knowing what the central issue at hand was! Maybe if they did they'd have something to actually say, instead of some blind pledge of loyalty! No, the worst part was that no one seemed to really care what they were saying or what was being said. Except for Guido, everyone was more or less calm about their decelerations of distaste for whatever it was they were complying about. Why wasn't anyone really getting angry? Where was the real raw outrage? Why was Guido the only one who looked as mad as Alexander felt? Sometimes Alex felt like he knew what was going on around him, and then other times he was in strange holes in space and time shaped to resemble court rooms by some mad posthuman. So filled with disappointment with his team, and more for himself for once again not being able to do anything to fix an out of control situation, Legard turned tail and left. He didn't know where Guido or Jet were going, or if they knew how to leave, but he at least liked the message it sent. Maybe the rest of the day locked up in his room with some herbal assistance would help to dull his frustration, but it would take more than that for him to forget his disappointment. |

For the short while, Shane had sat and watched the proceedings, feeling it not his place to speak out and condemn Alex or Pietro for what was going on. While it was clear that the trial had suddenly changed from one about concern on the healthiness of a potential marriage and its future implications being affected by Alex’s trauma from his experience as War, it soon became clear that Pietro had ulterior motives, although Wanda to her credit seemed to be rather un-biased, which was always a good thing in a judge. However, the trial seemed to be much less formal and more like a session for people to speak their minds, some overlapping, others becoming increasingly violent out of turn, or just plain provocative. To be honest, Shane wouldn’t of thought it out of place for Alex to swing a punch at his potential brother-in-law but it landing would have been a different question. No, whilst Pietro had made his opinions clear and others had rushed to Alex’s defence and rightly so in some cases, Shane sat till the major conflicts had been settled out of the way and the supposed reason of the court had been summoned. Lorna arriving, bringing with her an idea of closure. And while some members of the group such as Jet, Guido and Alex L didn’t want to stay till the conclusion, Shane felt somewhat disappointed that they had become splintered as a group. Feeling like it was his time to say something, Shane stepped up to the plate, breaking his silence on the matter to speak his mind in hurrying forth a decision. “I think that Alex has proven himself in just being able to get up and face the day. Now, if what he had been through had happened to me, I wouldn't of been able to take the guilt and strain of it all. Yes, he did crimes, crimes that in a normal court would probably have him put in an electric chair or the injection but what happened was not normal. I have the scars of what he did, like we all do" Shane commentated, holding up his arms to show the large ragged scars, faded slightly than what they were but still largely visable around his wrists." "He wasn't Alex Summers, the one that we know and care about. He was something else, but he came back from it. And he has been fighting back to get his life on track everyday that he has been here, trying to right the wrongs that he has done. For me Pietro, that is enough for him to have proven himself and calling this forward isn't productive to anything. As its been said before, him and Lorna's relationship is their buisness and theirs alone. Pietro, your saying Lorna is blinded? I think you need to see past your anger or else this is not going to have a happy ending. Three people have left cause of your behaviour in here and that says a lot by the fact that Guido and Jet are the ones who would normally put up with that sort of crap the most. I hope you come to a good descicion, Judge Wanda" Shane said sitting back down, feeling like a weight had been taken off his shoulders by his little rant in the court. |
Shane seems like a cool guy. When he keeps his shirt on, that is.

Reality Warping
|
Madison turned a look on her that said, Are you sure about this, and as it turned out, no, she wasn’t, she had expected more from X-Factor. When Alex Summers had talked to them about his plans – X-Factor, a place for those who were outcasts but trying to better themselves. They had joined and Pietro had saved more lives in one day than all the rest of X-Factor would save in their life-time but still, as Guido, Jet and Legard walked away in disgust it was clear that they, Wanda and Pietro, were still outcasts – outcasts among the outcasts… and abandoned again. But not everyone felt that way, Shane stood, speaking his mind with more skill and grace than others had shown. But a mere handful of rational voices weren’t enough to hold the fragile team together, maybe this was more than it could handle. Wanda’s face fell in sadness; that things had turned out this way and that she was part of the cause. Her gaze swept the remaining faces. “I find Alex Summers worthy,” she said simply in a hollow voice. “You may go.” Reality shifted, enveloping the members of X-Factor releasing them back into the world. Alone in the empty courtroom, Wanda bowed her head and thought of the future, as tears splashed, one by one, on the Judge’s bench. |

Wanda pronounced Alex worthy, and Pietro's eyes flashed in anger, though not at his sister, because there was almost nothing she could do that would make him angry. He was furious though, at this situation, at Summers, at the rest of the team... at... at everything. He opened his mouth to say something (he did not yet know what he was going to say but he assumed the words would come) but then, his twin banished them, sending them all somewhere else, back to the rooftop, back to where they had been. It happened in the blink of an eye, but Pietro saw, as the world shifted in the strange slow motion of his mutated perceptions, his dear sister bury her face in her arms. "Wanda!" he cried. But he was now on the roof, Alex and Lorna beside him, in the angry triangle that had been their position in court. He whirled on them, his anger turning again on Summers. "So, you have what you want then, do you not? Absolution and no need to repent. Everyone has forgiven you your sins and you are free to go on your merry way, blundering your way in and out of trouble with no fear of consequence for the body count you leave behind. Rest assured, Summers, that if that tally ever includes anyone I care about ever again, I will snap your neck without so much as a thought." He turned to the door that would lead to his home, and found that it was locked. He pulled on the handle, and heard the wood creak with the strength he exerted, but it would not open. Wanda had pushed them all away for the moment. He put his hand against the door and muttered, "Wanda... what am I supposed to do?" |

They blinked and they were home. Alex closed his eyes, having wanted to said so much more, having wanted to do something to make this right. He could feel Lorna still holding his hand, still supporting him in every way, and he wanted to tell her that everything was going to be all right. But Pietro's words raised his already fuming anger. "You can try, Piet, and you'd probably be able to take me down before I took you down, but if you kill me, I have a feeling that anything hope you have of having a relationship with Lorna would be out the window. You're pissed off now, and rightfully so, I deserve everything you said in there and more, but dammit, quit making this all about you. This is Lorna's moment, not yours, not Wanda's, not even mine. Your sister for some damn reason loves me and I love her more than I have ever thought I could love anyone. She saved my life and I am never going to give her a reason to regret it, ever." He was speaking to Piet's back by this time and it was probably futile, but it needed to be said. He needed to understand, and so did Lorna. Alex sighed and leaned his head against hers, muttering, "I'm sorry this all went to hell, babe." Looking up, he saw that Wanda wasn't letting Piet in and he shook his head, "She's upset, Lorny, why don't you see if you can talk her off the ledge? I'm gonna go see if we can calm everyone else down." He kissed her forehead, "He'll calm down, babe, soon. You know how he is." His own anger was fading, the fact that he had the others to think of making it easier to control himself. |
