Timestamp: August 16th, mid-afternoon, following Pietro's departure

The basement was abuzz with activity, but not the usual type of activity. The sound of a rotary saw buzzing through wood rang through the air as Madison was hard at work on his latest project. It was a silly idea, but he had on a whim sculpted short, cartoonishly exaggerated versions of himself and his teammates on a lark and was following that idea through to make the very first X-Factor foosball table. Probably the last one too, but he thought it would be a fun little thing to have around the headquarters.

The sound of heavy, metallic paws clunking down the stairway barely distracted him. The sharp bark definitely got his attention.

"Not now, Ilsa. We just went on a walk two hours ago," Madison said as he looked up at her. She was standing halfway down the stairs, looking at him expectantly. She walked up a few steps to the open doorway and barked again.

"Oh, alright, alright. I guess I can finish this later. You got your ball? Got your ball? Where's your ball?"

But clearly, Ilsa was in no mood to play, and as Madison followed her, she left the basement, making her way straight over to the stairway that led to the rooftop.
"Huh?" Madison asked, tilting his head to the side. Deciding it was perhaps best to follow her, he did so, following the dog up the stairs to the rooftop, where...

"Oh... shit..." Madison muttered as he saw the remains of the door lying shattered on the roof. There was no sign that the room was ever there, just a broken, splintered door lying in ruins at Ilsa's feet as she sniffed at the area, clearly confused. Her rapport with the security system had detected the anomaly, and as such, she alerted him.

"Dammit, Wanda..." Madison sighed with exasperation as he pulled his comm out, reshaping it to be more like a cellphone, and punched the code to contact the rest of the team.

"X-Factor, we got a big problem up on the roof. Please come up here ASAP."

"I have a Boggle trophy/ On my bedroom shelf.
I won it on my own/ With help from no one else.
Still I know that I'm not perfect/ I have a flaw or two.
But there's plenty of love here for you/ From my head to my size 16 shoe.
If you want to be my lady /You're gonna have to accept
What you see is what I'll always be/ This is just the way God made me"

Jon was singing loudly as he showered, loud and caterwauling. He was the clone of an electrokinetic mutant who'd trained to be a superhero, but deep down, whatever Jon Arwell Harper was, he was from birth a good ole boy from Virginia, as the slight twang in his voice when he got excited attested to. So, as he washed his hair, he was singing some Randy Travis, and butchering it. He'd been trained as a hero and as a villain, but never had he been taught how to carry a tune in a bucket.

What mattered though, was that he was free to make an absolute mess of it.

One of the problems of being sparky, was that water sometimes shorted out his powers briefly, so his showers tended to be short, and afterwards he crackled. But one learned to adapt.

Toweling off, quickly, he was two stepping around the room as he got dressed, when the phone ring. Set on speaker since it would explode if he touched right now, probably, his good time was ruined by Madison's voice summoning him to the roof. "Bah, Madison," he muttered, "This is my JonnyClone time..."

Throwing on some clothes, jeans and a t-shirt that read, 'I had a spooky time at the werewolf bar mitzvah', Jon hurried upstairs, hair still spiky from the shower, still slightly sparky. He frowned at the broken door, putting his hand where it had stood, searching for the entryway. "Were they in there? Have you tried to call Piet?"

Both Madison and Ilsa looked over at Jon as he emerged, and the look on Madison's face was clear enough - whatever happened here, it was bad. Wanda and Pietro were known for their eccentricities, and it was very common that bizarre things tended to happen around her. But this had an air of foreboding around it that was difficult to describe. The air was thick with a pressure of some sort, almost like the pressur before a rain storm. Something was very wrong.

"I sent that call out to all of us," Madison said, looking back down to his comm unit and shaking his head.
"But I'm getting no signal from either of the twins' units. Granted, she's no good with these things, but she's never shut it off before. I don't think she ever bothered to learn how to, and that was just fine by me. Kept her in contact if we didn't know where she was."

Madison may not have understood Wanda too well at times, but he had come to know some of her habits and quirks since joining up with this outfit.
"So either something's happened to them, somebody happened to them... Or they really really don't want to be found. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility that they smashed their comms or Wanda's reality altering is interfering with them, but this," he said gesturing to the remains of the door, "suggests that something bad happened to them."

It was time for lunch, and a delicious sandwich with Claussen pickles, salami, tomatoes, and lettuce was calling for Jet. After spreading some light mayo on the top and assembling it all she was a mere inch away from taking a bite when her communicator delivered a message that was coming from Madison. The blonde put her sandwich on the plate and started to walk off. A few steps later she rushed back to take a bite then ran for the stairs chewing on the bite of her sandwich she took.

Swallowing the last of her sandwich as she reached the roof Jet saw that Jon and Madison were talking. Jefferies looked upset and upon seeing the door in splinters that he was pointing to and hearing, "suggests that something bad happened to them." The blonde's heart sank, Picking up a piece of the shattered door and looking at it she wondered what could have happened. Thinking on it she didn't even know that the wood door to the twins' workshop could even be broken. Obviously she was wrong.

Not knowing what had happened or what was going to happen to the gypsy twins Jet wanted them found as soon as possible. Looking down at the fragmented door she spoke, “What could have happened?” The blonde looked back to the two with her brows lowered in concern. Silently she prayed that the both of them were okay and unharmed. That it was just another one of the gypsy customs that the two did. Although, any custom that has the two leave without notice was a downright cruel one to those that cared about them.

Lorna sat on the side of her bed, looking down at the delicately pressed flower that was clasped between her fingers, the pale green petals bringing back memories of the first time she had seen them in the tree that Wanda had created in the grounds of the Brotherhood headquarters. She had gone there often, the reason of seeing her brother and sister allowing her to mostly sneak under the radar of the worst of the X-Men enemies. It was the day she had first met Alex, whose ring she now rang on her finger, and when the four of them had travelled to Brazil.

Now it was not a symbol of those lighter, happier days, it was a sign that her brother had finally left X-Factor to go to their father. She put the flower down carefully on the bedside table and dropped her head into her hands, fingers threading through emerald strands of hair and gripping them tightly. “Please be safe.” Lorna murmured softly, pleading with whatever force existed out there to keep her brother from harm.

She stood up, pushing her sadness and guilt to the back of her mind, knowing that had to be strong and together for Wanda. As Lorna stepped towards the bedroom door, aiming to go and see her sister, the sound of Madison’s voice reached her over the communicator. Gripping the handle of the door, she pulled it open sharply and walked quickly up the stairs, coming out onto the roof just behind Jet. She looked around for the sign of someone being hurt, but saw only the broken door.

Lorna moved towards the door, feeling dread building in her heart as she crouched down to run her fingers over the wood. “I know what happened.” She said quietly as Jet questioned what was going on. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath before standing up and turning to face her three team members. “Pietro has left X-Factor, to join Magneto. He thinks he can help our father…. I assume what happened was he told Wanda and she is gone now.””

“Pietro has left X-Factor, to join Magneto. He thinks he can help our father…. I assume what happened was he told Wanda and she is gone now.”” Lorna said, and those were the words Alex heard as he joined the others on the roof. Since the trial for his continued leadership, and his marriage to the green haired beauty who'd saved his life, Alex had abandoned the Image Inducer in the confines of the headquarters, coming to terms with his changed appearance more now that he was beginning to regain confidence and a semblance of normality. Every day the unnatural hue of his skin was edging toward normalcy, his white hair streaking now with blond, the dark mottling of vein work and duskiness around his eyes, throat and on his lips fading. He still hid it in public until the day that he was restored to who he once was, but he no longer felt the shame of it in the presence of his family.

That grey pale face was creased with worry now, as he heard Lorna's words. Once upon a time, it seemed so long ago even though it was only two years, he had followed Magneto because he didn't know any better. Under his tutelage he'd been a violent racist, encouraged to strike down those who were not like him. There was no way to help Magneto except to serve as a weapon for him.

"You knew about this, Babe?" Alex asked Lorna, "You knew they were planning on joining Magneto? This is going to have disastrous consequences if they've turned against us. They know everything about X-Factor, including our as-of-now unannounced affiliation with SHIELD. This will be a media disaster as well as personal and emotional chaos." He ran his black tipped fingers through his hair and muttered, "This is my fault, I know it. He's been so angry with everything lately and I fought him, instead of trying to figure out what was wrong..."

He took a deep breath, shaking off the sorrow and anger that came with this development and said, "Madison, I need the security systems upgraded, immediately. The rest of you, we need confirmation on where they went so that means we need to spread out. We don't know that he went to Magneto. Lorna, call his girlfriend, please. See if Avery's heard from him. If they went to work with with Magneto, I don't think he'd go without telling her. We might be overreacting or panicking. For all we know, they got family news from Transia and went home to deal with it, but I want to make absolutely sure before I tell Hodge what's happening."

“Not ‘they’. Just Pietro. He was going to go alone. I tried to persuade him not to but his mind was made up, there was very little I could say. He left a green flower at my door, I just found it, a sign that he was gone, I think.” Lorna replied, feeling guilty for having never told Alex about the conversation she had with Pietro, but she had the made the decision to keep it from him, not wanting to cause any more strife between the two. Part of her had hoped that she would never have to tell anyone, that Avery or Wanda would have more luck with her brother than she had. Sadly that did not seem to be the case, and now Wanda was gone too, though Lorna didn’t believe she was with Pietro as Alex had suggested.

Alex began handing out orders, and she nodded as she received hers, pulling her phone from the pocket of her jeans, but Lorna felt a chill down her spine when he mentioned telling Hodge. “Why do we need to tell Hodge at all? This is an X-Factor matter, nothing to do with SHIELD.” She shook her head briefly, looking around at her other team mates. “I’m not going to see my brother and sister hunted down by them.” She didn’t know whether that would actually happen, but she didn’t trust SHIELD, the memory of the Sentinels still fresh in her mind and couldn’t imagine they would just let two mutants leave X-Factor, knowing that one of them would be going to Magneto.

Madison's eyes widened in surprise as Lorna popped the news - Pietro had joined Magneto. Wanda hadn't, theoretically, but if he left, would she follow? It was a conundrum, and it made finding Wanda all the more urgent.

"It's not just an X-Factor issue, Miss Dane," Madison said with a slow shake of his head. "If Maximoff has actually joined the Brotherhood, an internationally recognized terrorist organization, then it's a national security issue as well. We'd be obligated to tell SHIELD."

He sighed and shook his head. Maximoff back in his father's lunatic hands. This was worse than he previously thought, and what he thought was that someone had abducted the twins. If Pietro had defected and not taken Wanda, that meant she was... Out, and by the condition of the door, she was probably dealing with her pain over Pietro's departure, which meant that finding her was key.

"I'll give us the update, change the information in our system. I think we should fan out and find Wanda, though. I'll send out Ilsa in my stead for now, but once the update's done I'll be heading out as well. We have no idea what she's up to, but I get the impression that whatever it is, it's big."

Lorna came in form behind just as she finished asking what had happened. Jet could have sworn her heart skipped a beat. Alex came in just in time to hear what Lorna had to say. That skip in her heartbeat must have caused it to speed up to compensate for it. The blonde agreed silently with Lorna about telling SHIELD what had happened. Madison had to chime in his two cents on the matter. What Pietro did, to join Magneto, was his choice, but she had to wonder and be more concern about Wanda.

In recent days Pietro had become so angry, at everything it seemed. Even though that was such, she didn't think the speedster would join his Supremest father. But Wanda, after hearing stories, Jet was sure Wanda wouldn't follow that path. A thought that was confirmed by what Lorna said. The Scarlet Witch could very well defend herself, but with the time that they spent together the blonde grew close to the gypsy. She wanted her found.

“I'll take to the sky.” Jet's eyes glowed as she lifted off the ground. Soaring in search of the speedster or the witch, and in Mutant Town alone, if they were still there, it would be like searching for something a lot smaller then a needle in a haystack. Especially if you don't know you're in the right hay field such a challenge, Jet feared, would not be easy.

Both were more then capable of handling themselves, but after all that was done for her... After everything the two had done for her alone, they had to be found. If it was only being found and not taken back home, Jet refused to entertain the notion or thought of either one being dead or hurt physically, that would be enough. She hoped.

"Ah, shit, Piety," Jon muttered, "Christ, this is going to be a clusterfuck. Look, I get that SHIELD's going to have to know about this, eventually, but do we have to do this now, right this second? I mean, Piet's going to find out pretty quick that Daddy Dearest is full of shit, so, he'll come back, right? I mean, if he went to help Maggykins, isn't it hopeless?"

Suddenly, he realized that Magneto was Lorna's real father as well, so maybe she wasn't really in the mood to hear him bashed around like that, right... He stopped, taking a deeeeeeep breath, and running his hands though his hair, sparking a little in the wetness from his shower. "Ok, ok, look, Piet's a big boy, and whatever he's doing, why ever he's doing it, that's up to him. He's a... well, he's Piet, but he's made this decision on his own, and I'm guessing, like Lorna, that Wanda wasn't so hot on this idea. Maybe she followed him, but more likely she didn't. Which means, she's kind of our priority. A distraught and despairing reality warper with an undeniably loose connection to reality on her own... that idea scares the hell out of me."

Shrugging, he watched Jet take off, unable to keep the slight smile from his lips at the sight of her using her powers again, even during this tense time. "Keep this from Hodge until we know what's happening. I can probably feel out how much SHIELD knows when I have dinner with Maria Thursday. Who knows, maybe Wanda is just off grieving or hiding herself away. I can't begin to imagine how she feels having her brother, her whole life ripped away like this, but I know that when I found the Mojoverse razed by my psycho kin, I crawled into a bottle for a month. Probably same thing, here, and she might come back to us when the pain isn't so fresh."

Alister was out on patrol and found someone trying to take advantage of a couple of people and when he tried to stop them they pulled a knife. He smirked as one of his knights crushed the knife in it's hand like a piece of paper and picked the thug up off the ground by his shirt and held him there. He had gotten the call about the roof just then too but as much as he was wanting to drop everything literally and go he couldn't. He was needed there for the time being and hoped whatever it was that they could handle it till he got there.

While he waited for the authorities to come apprehend the man which seemed like an eternity to him as he worried about what could possibly be going on at the roof of there building the only real thoughts were of Wanda. It was basically her roof for all intended purposes. No one besides her and her brother did much up there except for a few short trips people made.

He could have kicked himself for his own stupidity as he instead of just waiting he could have used the communicator himself. He pressed a few buttons to broadcast it to everyone. "This is Alister what's going on? I'm across town dealing with a situation it's going to take me some time to get there. Is anyone hurt is everyone ok?" He hoped it was just that something had malfunctioned and he was worried but that wouldn't warrant a call for everyone and Jeffries was pretty much a by the book type. His leg was tapping the pavement repeatedly in worry that something terrible had happened. Jeffries wasn't one to send out a all points unless it was something important.

After a moment he looked at the criminal dangling from the arm of his metallic friend and grinned slightly. "This really just isn't your lucky day. I have to be going somewhere and I just can't have you running around causing more problems and am not going to be simply letting you off with a warning either." The thug gulped not knowing what fate was about to befall him but soon it didn't matter as several metal trashcans carefully bent and balled up around the would be criminal soon contained and immobilized him. Giving a nod in satisfaction he was off running towards home wondering what could have happened.

Alex held up his hands, to try and quiet everyone down. "Eventually, we're going to have to tell Hodge, but all right, all right, Jonny, do what you can to see if SHIELD's aware of this. It's all new and it's all just happened, so for all we know Piet will smarten up and come home before we even have dinner. Wanda is our immediate concern though for obvious reasons. If she's in mourning, we'll leave her to it, offer her whatever help we can give her, and keep her safe until she comes of it, but if she's in some kind trouble, then we'll make sure she's found. Pietro's done something incredibly devastating here, but no matter how he feels about me, I don't think what he did here... what he's doing is to hurt us, any of us. He wanted to do that, there's better ways that wouldn't upset Wanda as much." He rubbed a hand over the side of his face that Pietro had once slammed his fist into when he found him in bed with Dani... God, things had changed since then, hadn't they.

The team began to split up in search of Wanda and Alister called in from wherever he was, so Alex responded, "Ali, keep an eye out for Wanda, ok? Piet's gone to try and save his father's soul or something, I'm not exactly certain what's happening with him, but whatever it is, Wanda took off because of it. We need to find out if she's ok, and if not, we need to find a way to make her ok. Let me know if you hear or see anything."

He signed off the communicator, and turned to Lorna, "Honey, I need to know exactly what he said to you. Everything. He's joining the Brotherhood to help Mags, but how? Is this because of SHIELD? Is it because of us? Piet's never really opened up to me, even before all this..." his hand indicated his pale grey skin, "But after... I think the only words we'ved exchanged were angry and accusing."

"Who said anything about right now, Harper? Summers has it absolutely right. If we tell SHIELD about this right now, there's a chance that Maximoff could be turned away or even might just change his mind. For all we know. I'd say we should give it three days at least, just to be safe," Madison said as his comm shifted and warped, forming a plug that he could jack in to the security panel by the main door.

"You guys go on ahead. I'll catch up once I've done the updates here," Madison said as he walked over to the main door and plugged in.

"Ilsa," he called out, and the mechanical dog snapped to attention. "Go find Wanda. Go get 'er, girl. Shift form alpha wing nine, Code Red Magic. Go get 'er."

Immediately, the panels on her sides shifted upward, and thin, translucent metal wings snapped out. She achieved a vertical liftoff via repulsor pads in her paws and her eyes shifted from blue to green. Her paws folded back and she flew off into the city, scanning the area for Wanda's specific energy signature as Madison's coded commands told her to.

"I'm gonna try to patch into SHIELD's satellites, just in case she's left the burrough entirely. I hope she didn't, but I'd feel most comfortable if we had all our bases covered," he announced to his teammates as he began punching in the code sequences to update the security database.

Lorna watched as Jet took off to search for Wanda, hoping that she would return with good news. Her attention switched back to Jon, feeling the sting of his words against her father. Knowing that Magneto was the man who had given her life frequently left Lorna with conflicting emotions, particularly since their conversation before Apocalypse. She recalled his words, the tone of his voice and the look in his eyes as he spoke of her mother. It had given her a different perspective on the man, one which coloured any mention of the man now. She wasn’t suddenly his biggest fan, but she didn’t view him with the same blond hatred and judgement as she once had.

Jon didn’t mean any harm by it though, Lorna knew that, and he backed up her wish that they did not go to SHIELD immediately, and let them have a chance to find Wanda. She agreed with him that Wanda was probably grieving the disappearance of their brother somewhere, but it still didn’t make her feel any better. Why hadn’t she gone to see her sister sooner? It had been some time since Pietro had explained he was going to leave, she should have been more vigilant.

Alex began asking her questions and Lorna ran a hand through her hair, trying to recall what Pietro had said to her. “It was maybe three weeks ago. Pietro was very agitated, he’d found out what had happened to me during Apocalypse.” She was loathe to bring it up, but if Alex wanted an accurate report, she was going to have to tell him. “Pietro thinks that Magneto is just mis-guided, that somehow he can bring him back and save us all in the process. He didn’t know how... how he was going to do that, just that he had to. He wants to help mutants and he doesn’t think X-Factor can do that.” Lorna shook her head and looked away. “I’m sorry. Everything has been so messed up recently. I didn’t know what to do for the best.”
